Billy "Jack" Taylor

Billy "Jack" Taylor, 80, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at Beverly Health Care in Anderson, Mo. He was born Jan. 30, 1925, in Tonkawa, Okla., to Othel Emmet Taylor and Grace Irene Johnson Taylor.

He attended school in El Dorado, Kan. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army overseas in the 161 st Infantry in New Zealand and New Caledonia. He was wounded at the Invasion of Luzon, Philippines, and received the Purple Heart. He was in the Reserves for 20 years and retired as a master sergeant. He returned to Ponca City, Okla., where his parents had moved, and finished high school.

He marriage Virginia L. Baum on Dec. 22, 1950, in Arkansas City, Kan. He began working for Conoco in 1946 and retired in 1984 after 37 1/2 years as a technician in the research and development department. He enjoyed tennis, golf, bridge and the outdoors.

He was preceded in death by an infant grandson.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Taylor; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Clarke Taylor and Janis Taylor of Jenks, Okla., and Scott Taylor of Bella Vista; a daughter and son-in-law, Leigh Sills and Jim Sills of Broken Arrow, Okla.; a brother and sister-in-law, Carroll Taylor and Joyce Taylor of Wichita, Kan.; 13 grandchildren; and many nephews and cousins. A family memorial service will be held at a later date at the home on Brucker Drive. Arrangements are by the Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Village House Adult Day Care, P. O. Box 3027, Bella Vista AR 72715; or to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness, 2501 S. W. 14 th Street, Bentonville, AR 72712.

Mary LaNelle Bodlford Isley

Mary LaNelle Bodlford Isley, 68, of Bentonville, Ark., died Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at Bentonville Manor. Arrangements are pending with Callison-Lough Funeral Service of Bentonville.

John L. Brown

John L. Brown of Gravette, Ark., died Tuesday, March 29, 2005, in Troy, Ala., following a long illness.

He served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in California. He and his wife purchased a home in Marianna, Fla., about seven years ago and lived there during the winter to be close to his family. He moved back to Arkansas in 2003. He enjoyed riding horses and traveling the country with his wife.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Connie Brown Stacey; and a half brother, Thell Brown.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Virginia N. Brown; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Johnny Lee Brown and Sandy Brown of Troy, Ala., and Dan Brown of Destin, Fla.; three sisters, Jerry Wagoner of Downey, Calif., Hester Silva of Sacramento, Calif., and Lenora Peters of Rudy, Ark.; a half sister, Atha Burkhart of Austin, Texas; and seven grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, April 4, at the Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory in Bella Vista, Ark. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, at the Bella Vista Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Leon Gregory and the Rev. John Powell. Burial will be at the Bethel Cemetery, south of Gravette.

Eva Sarah Humes Cummins

Eva Sarah Humes Cummins, 93, of Hamilton, Kan., died Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at her home. She was born Oct. 5, 1911, in Arma, Kan., to Tom Humes and Eva Davis Humes.

She attended school in Arma and graduated in 1929. Obtaining a Normal Training Certificate qualified her to teach for two years in Kansas. She attended Kansas State Teachers College of Pittsburg and received a "Life Certificate" in 1931. She received a bachelor of science degree from KSTC of Emporia in 1960.

She began teaching in Greenwood County, Kan., and taught three years in Districts 19 and 77. She marriage Walter Raymond Cummins on April 22, 1933.

There was a shortage of teachers during World War II, and she was called upon to teach first and second grades in Hamilton, a position she held for 33 years. She retired from teaching in 1978 and became a farmer’s helpmate on the farm the couple purchased in 1957.

She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 65 years, Walter Cummins, on April 7, 1998; four brothers, Tom Humes, Earl Humes, Robert Humes and John Humes; a sister, Helen Cukjati; and an infant great-grandson, Jason Hinkel.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Larry Cummins and Barbara Cummins of Bentonville, Ark.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen L. Beal and Robert Beal of Overland Park, Kan., and Judith R. Gosch and Jim Gosch of Hamilton; nine grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 2, at the United Methodist Church in Hamilton with the Rev. Mark Demas.

Burial will be at the Janesville Cemetery, west of Hamilton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church; or to the Hamilton Library, in care of Wilson Funeral Home, PO Box 488, Madison KS 66860.

Sandra K. Stambaugh

Sandra K. Stambaugh, 59, of Siloam Springs, Ark., died Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at Northwest Medical Center of Washington County in Springdale, Ark. She was born June 29, 1945, in Indiana to Max Watkins and Mary Crawford Watkins.

She was a bookkeeper.

Survivors include her husband, Paul Stambaugh; four sons, David Roach, John Roach, Larry Bodkins and Michael Payne; and five grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 2, at Sager Creek Community Church in Siloam Springs.

Arrangements are by Nelson-Berna Funeral Home and Crematory of Fayetteville, Ark.

Leona Clementine Fritchman

Leona Clementine Fritchman, 90, of West Siloam Springs, Okla., died Thursday, March 31, 2005, at Quail Ridge Living Center in West Siloam Springs. She was born March 2, 1915, in Oklahoma to Wilcord Jones and Liza Deal Jones.

She worked as a self-employed seamstress throughout her life. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in West Siloam Springs.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Dora Dornan; and a brother, Lawrence Hooper.

Survivors include two sons, George Green of Tulsa, Okla., and John Dornan of West Siloam Springs; two daughters, Irene Golden of Casa Grande, Ariz., and Wanda Fisher of West Siloam Springs; 10 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 3, at Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Siloam Springs, Ark.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, April 4, at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Chapel with the Rev. Brad Jinks.

Burial will be at the Wann Cemetery near Chelsa, Okla.

Lavon Sikes Henderson

Lavon Sikes Henderson, 95, of Vaughn, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2005, at her home. She was born January 30, 1910, in Osage Mills, Arkansas, to Robert A. and Cora Wilson Sikes. She attended school in Osage Mills, Cave Springs, and graduated from Vaughn High School. After graduation she became a member of the Osage Mills Church and later a member of the Vaughn Presbyterian Church for over 60 years. She taught Sunday school classes, taught Bible school class and was secretarytreasurer of the Presbyterian Women’s Organization. She was a lifetime resident of the Vaughn Community. On October 28, 1933, she marriage John Howard Henderson, who passed away September 11, 1997. She was a loving wife and mother.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, John H. Henderson; as well as six sisters, Oma Rife, Mable Rife, Evelyn Rife, Louise George, Gladys Carpenter and Opal Harper; and one brother, Sam Sikes.

She is survived by one son, Robert Arthur Henderson of Vaughn, Arkansas; one niece, Sammie George Evans of Rogers, Arkansas; extended family of M. C. and Virginia Hendry of San Angelo, Texas; several grand-nieces, nephews and many friends.

A visitation will be held Friday, April 1, 2005, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Callison-Lough Funeral Home in Bentonville, Arkansas. Services will be held Saturday, April 2, 2005, at 10:00 a.m. at the Vaughn Presbyterian Church in Vaughn, Arkansas, with Lynn Brown and Bob Bennett officiating. Pallbearers will be: Coke and Tommy Hendry, Bill Piercy, Gary Harral, Rex Grimsley, Jack Roles and Arthur "Doc" Feagin. Honorary pallbearers will be: M. C. Hendry and Lee Harris. Burial will follow at the Barron Cemetery.

Arrangements provided by Callison-Lough Funeral Service of Bentonville, Arkansas.

William John Skogerboe

William John Skogerboe, 44, of Bentonville, Ark., died Friday, April 22, 2005, in Bentonville. He was born Feb. 3, 1961, in Minneapolis, Minn., to Ronald Duane Skogerboe and Eleanore Marie Baumann Skogerboe.

He was a paint contractor.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ronald Duane Skogerboe and Eleanore Marie Skogerboe.

He is survived by a sister, Anne Beck of Bentonville; three brothers, Stephen Skogerboe and Jeffrey Skogerboe, both of Minneapolis and Michael Baumann of St. Paul, Minn.; a half-sister, Rhonda Herrman of Braham, Minn.

Cremation arrangements are by the Benton County Funeral Home in Rogers, Ark.

Susie Lee Fleming Hall

Susie Lee Fleming Hall, 78, of Bentonville, Ark., died on Saturday, April 23, 2005, in Bella Vista, Ark., from complications of breast cancer. She was born Jan. 4, 1927, in Danville, Ark., to Coy Fleming and Birdie Mc-Nair Fleming.

She was the first of eight children. She graduated from Plum Bayou High School in Wright, Ark., in 1946, and attended college in Pine Bluff, Ark. She later moved to California to work in food services.

She marriage Woodrow Wilson Hall on Nov. 18, 1952, in Reno, Nev.

The couple settled in Kansas City, Mo., where she worked in food services. In 1979, they retired to Bentonville. She returned to work from 1981 to 1991 for the Bentonville School District, also in food services. In 1987, she founded a boutique, L. K. Clothiers, in Bentonville. She retired for health reasons in August 2004.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Wilson Hall in 1986.

Survivors include a son, Nelson Hall of Fair Play, Mo.; three daughters, Linda Kay Napierala of Bella Vista, Ark., Debra Woodrey of Shippensburg, Pa., and Frances Pasbach, of Pleasant Hill, Mo.; two sisters, two brothers, nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held on 1:30 p.m. Sunday, May 1, at the Bella Vista Funeral Home.

Burial services will be held in June at White Chapel Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Gladstone, Mo.

Memorials can be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
