Mildred Buchanan Ferebee, age 77, died Monday, July 14, 2003. Mrs. Ferebee was born in Hima, Ky. on Dec. 31, 1925, and has been a resident of Florida since 1945.
Mrs. Ferebee and her husband, Warren, owned and operated ERA Realty Company for 13 years in Okeechobee. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Okeechobee.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren H. Ferebee; two sisters, Statia McAlister of Okeechobee and Jean Eskridge of Hollywood; two brothers, Albert Buchanan of Okeechobee and Joe Buchanan of Lexington, Ky.; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Survivors include: her only son, David W. Ferebee of West Palm Beach; her only granddaughter, Deborah Ferebee of West Palm Beach; and two sisters, Reda (Red) Larson and Mary M. (Bill) Solliday of Okeechobee.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 17, from 10 a.m. until funeral service time at 11 a.m. at Bass Funeral Home. Reverend Joe Bishop will officiate.
Interment will be at Dania Memorial in Dania.
In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, donations may be made to the Mildred Ferebee Memorial Fund at the Okeechobee Health Care Facility, P. O. Box 728, Okeechobee, FL 34973. This fund will be used to purchase a large aquarium for the facility.

Peggy Ann Hickey
Peggy Ann Hickey, age 71, of Okeechobee, died Sunday, July 13, 2003, at Raulerson Hospital.
Born Dec. 9, 1931, in Georgia, Mrs. Hickey had been a resident of Okeechobee for seven years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Hickey; daughter, Cherie Ann; grandson, J.R. Locke; brother, Boykin Pennington; and sister, Geraldine Spicuzza.
Survivors include: four sons, Billy Collins and Frank Collins of West Palm Beach, Timmy Zelnar of Port St. Lucie and Mark Cruttenden of Bar Harbor, Maine; four daughters, Nancy Jones of Palm Beach Gardens, Stephanie Locke of Okeechobee, Dorothy Volk of West Palm Beach and Kathy Pressley of Hendersonville, N.C.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Sally Ross of Glassport, Pa. also survives her.
Visitation is Wednesday, July 16, from 5 p.m. until funeral service time at 7 p.m. at the Buxton Funeral Home with Reverend Gene Roddenberry officiating.

Thomas Richard Wallace
Thomas Richard Wallace, age 74, of Pembroke Pines, died Sunday, July 13, 2003.
He was the husband of Theresa Marie Thomas for 50 years and the loving father of Linda Marie Thomas and Timothy Richard Thomas, grandfather of Terri Lynn and Jay Alvarado and brother of Dorothy Loose.
Mr. Wallace was a proud decorated Marine veteran who received the Marine Corp Commendation, Purple Heart and Bronze Star, and served in the Korean War and fought in the Battle of the Chossen Reservoir.
A resident of Pembroke Pines since 1982, he was formerly from Toledo, Ohio, where he worked for 37 years at Chrysler Jeep. He was post commander of Conn-Wiessen Berg American Legion Post #587 in Toledo, Ohio. Mr. Thomas was also a member of the 40/8 and the Knights of Columbus of St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church. He was a part-time resident of Okeechobee who loved the outdoors and loved to hunt and fish. He recently celebrated 50 years of marriage to Theresa on June 3.
Visitation is Wednesday, July 16, from 2 until 4 p.m. and 7 until 9 p.m., at the Joseph A. Scarano Pines Memorial Chapel.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 17, at 11 a.m., at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church in Pembroke Pines.

John L. Hulett
John L. Hulett, age 67, of Okeechobee, died June 30, 2003, in Hancock County Hospital, Greenfield, Ind. Born Sept. 13, 1935, in Anderson, Ind. Mr. Hulett retired from Delco Remy Division of General Motors in 1989 after 30 years of service. After retiring he worked for Wal-Mart in Okeechobee for 12 years. He was a member of the Buckhead Ridge Baptist Church and a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 127 in Anderson and of the NRA He enjoyed fishing, hunting and knife making. Mr. Hulett served his country in the Army National Guard, 138th Signal Battalion for 21 years.
Preceded in death by: his first wife, Ethella (Brown) Hulett; mother, Meda (Campbell) Hulett; father, Lewis Hulett; brother, Charles Hulett; and sister, Mary D. Hulett.
Survivors include: his wife of 15 years, Esther (Baldwin) Hulett; son, Montgomery Hulett of Anderson, Ind.; daughter, Michelle (Tim) Altherr of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; sister, Sonja Troub of Anderson, Ind.; three grandchildren, Melissa Tremaine, Brian Hulett and Jason Bunch; great-granddaughter, Abby Tremaine; several other grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many special friends.
Funeral services were held on July 3, with Interment in K of P - I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Frankton, Ind.

Joseph Edward Barricklow
Joseph Edward Barricklow, age 87, of Okeechobee, died Thursday, July 10, 2003, at Raulerson Hospital. Born May 23, 1916, in Dabney, Ind., the son of Abraham Albert and Maud May (Jenkins) Barricklow. Mr. Barricklow was a meat department manager for Kroger Grocery Stores.
Survivors include: his loving wife, Mary P. Barricklow of Okeechobee, two sons, Wayne Maurice Barricklow and Douglas Edward Barricklow; daughter, Willa Jo Barricklow Mauger; 8 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren also survive him.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 14, from 6 until 8 p.m., at the Bass Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, July 15, at 9:30 a.m., at the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. John W. Keith, officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Ronald Allen Phillips
Ronald Allen Phillips, age 50, of Okeechobee, died Saturday, July 5, 2003. Born Nov. 20, 1952, in Pahokee. Mr. Phillips was a lifetime resident of Okeechobee and a party chief in the surveying industry.
Survivors include: his wife, Sandra Phillips of Okeechobee; his parents, Sidney and Mary Phillips of Live Oak; daughter, Samantha Ann Shiver of Okeechobee; son, Ronald A. Phillips of Okeechobee; brothers, Calvin Eugene (Diane) Phillips of Homestead and Dennis Ray Phillips of High Springs; and one grandchild, Ashley also survives him.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 10, from 9 until 10 a.m., at the Fort Drum Community Church. Funeral services will follow at 10 a.m., with Reverend Jerry Atkins officiating. Interment to be in Fort Drum Cemetery.

Evans Lewis Anthony
Evans Lewis Anthony, age 52, of Pompano Beach, died Friday, July 4, 2003, at Imperial Point Medical Center in Pompano Beach.
Mr. Anthony was born Dec. 2, 1950, in Blythe, Ga.
Survivors include: three sons, Antonio Jackson, Evans Lewis Anthony, Jr. and Xavier Cummings, all of Okeechobee; three daughters, Michelle Fisher of Okeechobee, Vithenia Anthony of Arizona and Jaquay Anthony of Dania; four grandchildren; and one sister, Arlene Adams of Ozone Park, N.Y. also survives him.
Visitation is Saturday, July 12, from 10 a.m. until funeral service time at 11 a.m. at the Buxton Funeral Home. Reverend Maurice Alexander will officiate. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.

Kathleen Sever Williams
Kathleen Sever ("Granny") Williams, age 91, of Okeechobee, died Saturday, July 5, 2003, in Okeechobee.
She was born Feb. 17, 1912, to Andrew B. and Leona Hendry Sever, in Madison County. She moved to Okeechobee from Miami with her husband, Dave, and three children in 1952, where she was an active member of the community. Mrs. Williams was affectionately known by many as "Granny" and was a member of the Grace Brethren Church for 49 years. For many years, she could be found with her sister-in-law, Ethel Rogers, changing diapers in the nursery. Her Christian faith was evident in her service to the Lord, and for several years, this included greeting students with a smile each morning at Grace Christian Schools until the age of 75. Over the years, she and her husband owned and operated Dave's Ice Cream Parlor and Dave's Refrigeration, and she worked at the Okeechobee 66 service station with her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jack and Ethel Rogers. She was well known for her love of children, her beautiful flowers, and service to others.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Clayton Williams Sr., in 1969; great grandson, Matthew Simmons in 1989; and sister-in-law, Ethel Rogers in 2002.
Survivors include: daughter, Judy (John Henry) Thomas of Okeechobee; two sons, Clayton (Jacquelan) Williams of Okeechobee and Larry (Brenda) Williams of Gainesville; sister, Evelyn (Bill) Coleman of Pensacola; grandchildren, Julie Ann (Randy) Simmons, Debbie (Neal) Simmons, Sheri (Mitch) Selvey, David Thomas, Lorie Williams, Melodie Williams, Shawna (Jason) Tommie, and Cliston (Brent) Lawrence; 11 great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Frank Goff of Fort Walton Beach; three sisters-in-law, Alice Jones of Ft. Pierce, Ruth Holley of Blountstown, and Nancy Williams of Williston; and several nieces and nephews also survive her.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2003, from 5 until 8 p.m., at the Buxton Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2003, at 11 a.m., at Grace Brethren Church with Pastor Joe Regnier and Rev. Monroe Arnold officiating.

Howard Brooks Young, Jr.
Howard Brooks Young, Jr., age 81, died Thursday, July 3, 2003, at Raulerson Hospital.
A resident of Okeechobee since 1974, Mr. Young had served in the United States Navy and enjoyed fishing, hunting and racecars. He was a member of the Okeechobee Elks Lodge, Okeechobee Shriners, the VFW and American Legion of Okeechobee.
Mr. Young was preceded in death by one son, James Young, and one sister, Regina Hopwood.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Juanita; one son, Carl of Okeechobee; one daughter, Linda (Larry) Richardson of Okeechobee; two grandchildren, Wade Richardson of Ft. Pierce and Janice Young of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and one brother, Newton Young of Sebastian also survives him.
A memorial service will be conducted on Tuesday, July 8, at 2 p.m., at the Buxton Funeral Home.

Mary Richards
Mary Richards, age 45, of Okeechobee, died Saturday, July 5, 2003, at her residence.
Born June 13, 1958, in Miami Beach, Mrs. Richards, formerly of Miami, had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1991. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Fort Pierce. She had a love for animals, particularly horses, sheep and goats, and was a member of the Goat Club of Florida.
Survivors include her husband of 24 years, Gary Richards of Okeechobee; one daughter, Jennifer Michelle Richards of Okeechobee; her father, Alfred Chansen of Pompano Beach; her mother, Rita Chansen of Fort Myers; two brothers, Alfred (Ramah) Chansen, II of Flower Mound, Texas and Charles Chansen of Pompano Beach; and one sister, Susan Oster of North Carolina also survives her.
Visitation is Thursday, July 10, from 4 p.m. until funeral service time at 7 p.m. at the Buxton Funeral Home. Evangelist Bobby K. Thompson of Miami will officiate.

Billie Earl Chapman
Billie Earl Chapman, age 60, of Okeechobee, died Thursday, July 3, 2003, at the VA Medical Center in West Palm Beach. Born June 6, 1943, in Donalsonville, Ga., Mr. Chapman was the son of James and Elba Oneeda (Clark) Chapman. Mr. Chapman was a singer in the entertainment industry and a veteran of the U.S. Army and Coast Guard during the Vietnam era.
Survivors include: his wife, Linda Chapman of Okeechobee; his son, Thomas Chapman of Palatka; and sister, Jody Hicks of Pennsylvania also survives him.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 6, from 2 until 4 p.m., at the Bass Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, July 7, at 10 a.m., graveside at Evergreen Cemetery, with Reverend Nick Hopkins, officiating.

Evelyn Ida Williams, age 80, of Okeechobee, died Friday, June 27, 2003, at Raulerson Hospital. Born May 18, 1923, in Hickory Plains Township, Ark., Mrs. Williams had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1965.
Preceded in death by: her husband, Bobby Williams; and son, Gene Gillis.
Survivors include: her grandchildren, Bobby O. (Candice) Gillis of Orange Beach, Ala., Debbie Gillis of Okeechobee, Thanakay Holloway of Memphis, Tenn.; great-grandson, Bobby Gene Gillis of Bay Minette, Ala.; and great-granddaughter, Stacey Herron of Jasper, Ala., also survives her.
There will be no visitation or services.
