CATHERINE ANN SCANLAND, 73, East Villa Capri Circle, DeLand, died Saturday, Sept. 18, of cancer. Mrs. Scanland was a homemaker. Born in Cartersville, Ga., she moved to Central Florida in 1989. Survivors: daughters, Virginia Ann Jones, Orange City, Susan Middleton, Bolinas, Calif.; sister, Clyde Powell, Arlington, Texas. Lankford Funeral Home, DeLand.

IRENE G. SARBER, 94, Northland Road, Mount Dora, died Saturday, Sept. 18. Mrs. Sarber was a homemaker. Born in Coal Center, Pa., she moved to Central Florida in 1973. She was past president of Pittsburgh District Missionary. She was a member of Central Church of the Nazarene, Orlando. Survivors: daughter, Donna, Mount Dora; sisters, Ethel Larson, St. Petersburg, Alma Hyslop, Monongahela, Pa., Ruth McLuckie, Rockledge; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson. FRIEDA MAY THOMAS, 86, Sweetgum Drive, Orange City, died Thursday, Sept. 16. Mrs. Thomas was a retired lab technician in research and animal medicine. Born in Big Prairie, Ohio, she moved to Central Florida in 1973. She was a member of Deltona Church of Christ. Survivors: husband, Paul C.; son, Rex C., Virginia Beach, Va.; brothers, Robert Heffelfinger, Deltona, Richard Heffelfinger, Columbus, Ohio; sister, Eula Sutliff, Villa Rica, Ga.; two granddaughters. FRED WESTON, 82, South Pineridge Circle, Sanford, died Tuesday, Sept. 21. Mr. Weston was a postal employee. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he moved to Central Florida in 1965. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans and Fleet Reserve Association. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. He was a Navy veteran. Survivors: wife, Louise; sons, Frederick D., Edward R., both of Ormond Beach, John D., Tallahassee, James A., DeLand; brother, William H., Valley Stream, N.Y.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. ALICE M. MACKEYROY, 51, 1800 Lincoln Ave., Sanford, died Tuesday, Sept. 21. Mrs. Mackeyroy was a gardener for a nursery shop. She was born in Arlington, Ga. She was a member of Evergreen Temple 321 IBPOE. She was a member of Calvary M.B. Church, Arlington. Survivors: mother, Corine R. Stinger, Albany, Ga.; son, Marvin, Sanford; daughters, Sheila M. Jones, Albany, Alice, Tameko, Tasha, Quanisha, Shakeya, all of Sanford; brothers, Eddie Stringer, James Stringer, both of Albany; sisters, Betty Stringer, Sandra Porter, both of Atlanta, Thelma Davis, Clearwater, Alma Stringer, Albany; 10 grandchildren. FRANCIS P. MONACO, 73, Yellowstone Drive, Port Orange, died Monday, Sept. 20. Mr. Monaco was owner of Monaco Medical Laboratory. He was born in New Kensington, Pa. He was past president of Florida Society of Medical Technology, American Society of Bioanalysts, past vice president of Florida Association of Medical Laboratories and director of Florida National Bank, DeLand. He was past chairman of Florida Quarterback Club. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, New Smyrna Beach. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. DAVID B. O'CONNELL, 74, Lake Drive, DeLand, died Tuesday, Sept. 21. Mr. O'Connell was a retired civil engineer with the Department of Transportation. Born in Titusville, he moved to DeLand from there in 1958. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, DeLand, and the West Volusia Coin Club. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. HOWARD E. O'NEILL, 77, Senegal Circle, Oviedo, died Tuesday, Sept. 21, of congestive heart failure. Mr. O'Neill was a sales engineer with Cleveland Graphite Bronze.
