A memorial service for Hawai‘i photographer, author, conservationist and environmentalist ROBERT GEORGE WENKAM have been set. Wenkam, 80, who died June 22, 2000, while attending a Mainland writers’ conference, was the first chairman of the local chapter of the Sierra Club, president of the Federation of Western Outdoor Clubs, and wrote and provided photographs for a number of books about Hawai‘i, the Pacific and the United States. He was born in Oakland, Calif., and is survived by children, Chiye, Miyo, Jay and Tad; and two grandchildren. Memorial service 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Borthwick Mortuary.
