Norma Anders
Services: Visitation is on Thurs. July 12, 2001 from 4-6pm at Overton Funeral Home in Dysart. The funeral service is on Fri. July 13th at 10:30 am at the United Methodist Church in Dysart. Burial is at Oneida Cemetery in rural Clutier followed by a lunch at the church fellowship hall.

Norma Anders was born November 11, 1924 in rural Dysart, Iowa, the daughter of James and Anna (Ottzen) Anders. She received her education in Dysart and graduated from high school in 1942. Norma then attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, IA earning a teaching certificate. She began teaching in the Greene School system and the Charles City school system before returning to the University of Northern Iowa. There she graduated with a B.A. degree in elementary education in 1950 and additional studies in library science. Norma then moved to Fort Dodge to teach, where she remained for 29 years. She returned to Dysart in 1979 following the death of her mother to care for her father until his death in 1981. Since that time she has remained in Dysart. Norma was a member of the Peace United Church of Christ and then the Dysart United Methodist Church, where she was active in Rebecca Circle. She belonged to local, state and national educational groups where she taught. While in Fort Dodge she was a charter member of Theta Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa an International Honorary Teachers Sorority, a past member of American Childhood Education Association, Delta Theta Chi, a social sorority, Association of University Women and the Webster County Retired Teachers Group. Upon moving to Dysart she transferred to the Alpha Alpha Chapter of Vinton. She served in several local and state offices of the sorority including twice as State Treasurer, State Vice President and later as State President. She belonged to the State Retired Teachers Association, as well as, the Home Study a division of Dysart Women’s Club, having served as Executive Board President in 1984-86. In free moments Norma enjoyed traveling and playing cards. She is preceded in death by her parents and a sister that died in infancy. She is survived by several cousins, an aunt and uncle, Lawrence & Esther Heaton and many friends.
Harold E. Baker
Services: Services will be held 10:30 Wednesday, Dec. 27,2000 at the Overton Funeral Home. Visitation 2:00 to 6:00 PM Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2000 at the Funeral Home. Rev. Donald Bogue. Military Graveside Services at Dysart Cemetery.

Harold Ernest Baker was born at Grundy Center, Iowa on August 21, 1920, the son of Clifford R. and Louise (Burmeister) Baker. Harold received his education in Grundy Center and Graduated from Dysart High School in the Class of 1938. Harold continued his education at Upper Iowa University, receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree. Harold married Margaret Keen on September 20,1941 at Lancaster, MO. They first made their home in California where Harold served in the U.S. Navy during WW II. Later they returned to Iowa and lived in the Dysart Community. Following Harold and Margaret’s divorce, Harold moved to make his home in Waterloo where he was employed by the John Deer Tractor Co. On November 26,1977 Harold married Jean Cowles and lived in Waterloo and more recently in Cedar Falls. In free moments Harold enjoyed fishing and woodworking. He also enjoyed wintering in Mission Texas and in more recent months had been in failing health. His death came at their home in Mission, TX on Monday, December 18,2000 at the age of 80 years. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Kathy, and two brothers: Ralph and Robert Waller. He is survived by his wife Jean of Cedar Falls, one son David Baker of Dysart, two daughters; Mrs. Annette Petersen of Sunrise Beach, MO and Debra Baker of Dysart, one step son Brian Evans of West Des Moines, one brother, Clifford L. Baker of Dysart, four grandchildren, two step grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and two step great grandchildren.
Irene Caroline Brandt
Services: 10:30 am on Saturday, March 24, 2001 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, La Porte City, Iowa. Visitation will be held at Overton Family Funeral Home, Dysart from 4:00-7:00 pm on Friday, March 23, 2001.

Irene Caroline Brandt was born on September 24, 1909 to Theodore & Carrie (Haywood) Wall in their home in Dubuque County, Iowa. She was raised around the Farley, Cascade and Manchester area where she also attended school. While in Manchester she lived with her father and helped raise her two younger sisters. On December 25, 1939 she was united in marriage to Arnold S. Brandt at the American Lutheran Church in Manchester. In 1941 they moved to a farm north of Dysart in the Geneseo Township, and Irene was active with the Geneseo United Methodist Church and the Ladies Aide. She enjoyed her large garden and the apple orchard that she and Arnold worked hard in each summer. Arnold and Irene had ponds built on the farmstead and they enjoyed fishing for bass and bluegills. In 1977, they retired to the community of La Porte City where they attended the St. Paul Methodist Church and Irene participated in UMW Circle. Arnold preceded her in death on June 4, 1983. In 1999, Irene moved to the Lutheran Home in Vinton following a fall in her home. It was there that she passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2001, at the age of 91 years. Irene was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers, Ted & Albert Wall; 3 sisters, Evelyn Tischhauser, Pearl Keister & Anna Burns. Her memory is cherished by 2 sons and their wives, Jack and Joy Brandt of Golden, CO and Dale & Barbara Brandt of Jackson, WI; her daughter and her husband, Helen & Dennis Wieben of Dysart; a step daughter, Alice Werning of Cedar Rapids, who was raised by Paul & Frances Palmer; 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and 1 step great-great grandchild.
Todd R. Degner
Services: Visitation will be Tuesday, May 29, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Ninde Funeral Home, 3841 S. Peoria Ave., Tulsa, OK. The Funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 30, at New Haven United Methodist Church, 5603 S. New Haven, Tulsa, OK. A visitation will also be held at the Overton Funeral Home in Dysart, IA on Thurs., May 31, 2001 from 5-8pm. A graveside service will be held on Fri., June 1, 2001 at 10:30 am at the Dysart Cemetery, Dysart, IA. A luncheon will follow at the United Methodist Church fellowship hall in Dysart.

Todd Robert Degner, 44, was killed in a private plane crash May 26, 2001. Todd was born June 5, 1956 in Waterloo, Iowa. He was the son of Robert and Mary Helen (Whiteley) Degner. He attended Dysart-Geneseo Community Schools, graduating in 1974 as class president. He attended Iowa State University, majoring in electrical engineering, and graduated in 1979. He was a member of Alpha Kappa Lambda Fraternity.
He was employed by Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids and later went to TransWorld Airlines in Kansas City. In 1985 he started working for American Airlines in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he was later promoted to Managing Director of Aircraft Engineering.
He married Doris Maxwell at Independence, Missouri on May 11, 1985. He is survived by his wife Doris, two daughters, Laura 9 and Marissa 5, a sister and brother-in-law Hope and Steve Hix of Dysart, Iowa a brother and sister-in-law Mark and Della of Ankeny, Iowa, five nieces and nephews and his parents of Dysart.
He was an active member and Sunday School teacher at New Haven United Methodist Church in Tulsa. As a child he expressed a desire to fly and obtained his private pilot's license at age 16. He was also a member of AOAP (Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association), Tulsoar (Radio controlled aircraft association), the Tulsa Skyhawks Soaring Club, and Oughtred Society (slide rule collecting society). Besides flying his interests included fencing and astronomy. He was also a certified scuba diver.
Marvin E. Dake
Services: Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, July 17, 2001 at the United Methodist Church in Dysart by Rev. Donald Bogue officating. Visitation will be held at the Overton Funeral Home in Dysart on Monday, July 16, 2001 from 4-7 PM. Burial will be in the Dysart Cemetery Dysart, Iowa.

Marvin Edwin Dake was born on November 26, 1917 at Mora, Minnesota. He was the son of Clarence and Nina (Ellsworth) Dake. At an early age Marvin moved with his family to Urbana, Iowa where he received his education. Marvin then worked in the Civilian Conservation Corp. and did work on State Parks in Iowa. On Sept 27,1945 he married Minnie Larsen at Maquoketa, Iowa and they lived there a short time, before moving to Vinton. Marvin was employed in the quarry and heavy equipment business for several years. In 1954 he became employed by the Benton County Road Maintenance. He and Minnie moved to Dysart where Marvin continued to live following Minnie’s death on Feb. 14, 1996. In free moments, Marvin enjoyed spending time with family and his grandchildren. He also enjoyed riding his bike, camping, hiking, and hunting game as well as mushrooms. Recently Marvin’s health had failed and more recently he had become a patient at Sunrise Hill Care Center at Traer, where his death came on Friday, July 13, 2001 at the age of 83 years. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, wife Minnie, and one brother Harold. He is survived by two sons; Gary and his wife Carol of Hudson and Ron of Waterloo, two daughters and their husbands; Marilyn and Craig Peters of Gladbrook and Diana and Marty Corkery of Prescott AZ, two brothers; Willis and Vern Dake of Vinton, sixteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Otis W. Felts
Services: Will be Wednesday, November 22, 2000 at 10:00 am at the Calvary Baptist Church in Dysart, Iowa. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4:00 - 8:00 pm at the Overton Funeral Home in Dysart. Burial at the Geneseo Cemetery rural Buckingham.

Otis W. Felts was born October 15, 1916 at Wheeling, Arkansas, the son of Pink Green and Laura M. (Campbell) Felts. Otis received his education at Salem, Arkansas where he graduated from high school in 1934. He then worked as a salesman before becoming a fireman at Fort Leonardwood, Missouri. Otis then moved to Iowa where he worked for area farmers in the Geneseo area. On May 18, 1941 he was united in marriage to Laudine F. Dillinger at Byron, Arkansas. They then made their home farming the Geneseo area until 1958 when they moved to a farm east of Dysart. In 1979 they retired to town where Otis continued to make his home after Laudine’s death on May 17, 1999. In August Otis became a resident of the Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer, Iowa. More recently he has been a patient at the Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo where his death came on Sunday, November 19, 2000 at the age of 84 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Laudine, one son Otis Jr., three brothers and one sister. Otis is survived by one son and his wife Ed and Kimberly Felts of Grundy Center, Iowa and one daughter and her husband, Cassie and Mike Klein of Dysart, six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Loren Feuerbach
Services: Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2001 at 10:00 am at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Dysart. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday at the Overton Funeral Home in Dysart where a Scripture Service will begin at 7:00 pm.

Loren Dean Feuerbach was born on January
Loren Dean Feuerbach was born on January 26, 1931, in Elberon, Iowa, the son of Leonard & Rose Kalina Feuerbach. Loren was raised in the Geneseo Township area of Tama County and graduated from Geneseo High School with the Class of 1949. On June 9, 1951, Loren was united in marriage to Ivonne Elliott at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dysart, Iowa. They lived on the family farm their entire married life.
Loren’s life revolved around farming and raising cattle. He was a 4-H leader and traveled to many livestock shows with his family. He was a lover of all animals, especially dogs. He played basketball in high school and was an avid Hawkeye fan. He also enjoyed traveling, reading and watching movies. Loren had a wonderful sense of humor. His favorite pastime of all, though, was spending time with his grandchildren.
Loren ended his battle with cancer on Monday, April 2, 2001, at the age of 70. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister; Jeanette Hook. He is survived by his wife, Ivonne of Dysart, 2 sons, Mark and his wife Carolyn of Dysart, David of La Porte City; four daughters, Elaine Moore and husband Robert of Hudson, Catherine “Cay” Olson and husband Robert of Clarion, Diane Horrigan and husband Timothy of Waterloo, Julie Arndt and husband Steven from Geneseo, Illinois, and sixteen grandchildren,
Sara, Matt, Elliot, Erica, Ali, Audrey, Joseph, Katie, Annie, Maggie, Jacob, Jason, Jenny, Jessie, Sam & Abby.
May our Lord Jesus Christ bless his memory in the midst of his family, friends, congregation and community.
Beverly J. Gustafson
Services: At this time no visitation will be held. A funeral service will be held on Friday, Oct. 19, 2001 at 3:00 pm at the Church of Promise in Buckingham, IA. A burial will preceed the service at Geneseo Cemetery, Buckingham, IA

Beverly J. Gustafson was born January 20, 1922 at Magnolia Corners, Rock County, Wisconsin, the daughter of Walter C. and Ada M. (McCoy) Hofer. Beverly was raised in the Evansville and Madison area where she attended school and graduated from Evansville High School in 1941. On June 16, 1941 she was united in marriage to Folke M. Gustafson at Madison where they lived until moving to Toledo, Ohio in 1945. In 1957 she moved to Maumee, OH and was employed at AP Parts. In 1967 they returned to Madison where she worked at the Wisconsin State Crime Lab for many years. In 1978 they moved to Gainesville, Florida where she took employment as a secretary for Flad and Associates Architects until her retirement. In 1998 Beverly and Folke moved to La Porte City where Folke's death came on November 7, 1999. More recently she has been a patient at the Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo where her death came Monday, October 15, 2001 at the age of 79 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Folke, and one brother Walter. She is survived by two daughters, Jan Walker of La Porte City and Jo Carol Gustafson of Gainesville, Florida, two grandchildren Chad Walker and his wife Carrie of Cedar Rapids and Wendy Jo Walker of Cedar Falls.
