OSAGE -- Wava Mae Thome, 86, of Osage, died Saturday, May 5, 2001, at Stacyville Community Nursing Home, Stacyville, of natural causes; survivors include her husband, Roman; two daughters, Joeleen Samec of New Hampton and Deanna Shoars of Orchard; and five grandchildren; she was preceded in death by a sister, Marian; and two brothers, Kenneth and Richard; services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Osage, with burial in the church cemetery; friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, Osage, where there will be a 7 p.m. Scripture service; Mrs. Thome was a midwife in early years and also had worked as a cook at the Mitchell County Care Facility, Sacred Heart Catholic School for 14 years, and the Knights of Columbus Hall; she catered weddings and during the summers cooked at Faith Lutheran Home, retiring in 1978.
WAVERLY -- Margaret E. Hinrichs, 81, of Waverly, formerly of Tripoli, died Saturday, May 5, 2001, at Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community, Waverly, from complications of a stroke; survivors include a daughter, Judy K. DECORAH -- Esther A. WEST UNION -- Roy Granneman, 92, of West Union, died Saturday, May 5, 2001, at Palmer Lutheran Health Center, West Union, after a lengthy illness; survivors include his wife, Evelyn; a son, Gary of San Luis Obispo, Calif.; three daughters, Mary Ann Miller of Marshalltown, Joyce York of Hot Springs, Ark., and Linda Granneman of Stoneport, Ill.; and 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and six stepgreat-grandchildren; he was preceded in death by a son, James; a sister, Edna Wilson; and an infant brother; services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church, West Union, with burial in West Union Cemetery; friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Burnham-Wood Funeral Home, and for an hour before services Wednesday at the church; Mr. Granneman farmed, did custom feed grinding for area farmers for a few years; he then managed the YMCA Bowling Lanes, Newton, then moved to Marshalltown and Oelwein and operated service stations; he then moved to West Union and open the Lilac Bowling Lanes, which he operated for 22 years, retiring in 1980.
DUMONT -- Francis L. Stock, 75, of Dumont, died Saturday, May 5, 2001, at North Iowa Mercy Health Center-East Campus, Mason City, of natural causes; survivors include his wife, Lois; two sons, Rodney of Phoenix, and Ron of Warren, Ohio; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dilman and Lowell, both of Hampton; and three sisters, Virginia Rodgers of Iowa Falls, Carol Miller of Mesa, Ariz., and Luella Miller of Hampton; she was preceded in death by a sister, Maxine; services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Dumont United Methodist Church, with burial in Harlan Cemetery, rural Dumont; friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home, Dumont; Mr. Stock served in the U.S. Navy from 1945-47 and 1950-52; he farmed and worked at Oliver Corp., Charles City.

FAYETTE -- Marvin Richard Sunnes Sr., 70, of Fayette, died Saturday, May 5, 2001, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo, of renal failure due to diabetes; survivors include his wife, Grace; two sons, Marvin Jr. of Hawkeye and Harlan of Maynard; two daughters, Grace Ann Close of Monona and Jenny Herman of Hawkeye; nine grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a sister, Gladys Steward of Greenwood, Wis.; he was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond and Sterling; services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Hawkeye, with burial in Dunham Grove Cemetery, rural Randalia; friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home, Hawkeye, and for an hour before services Wednesday at the church; Mr. Sunnes served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War; he farmed in the Story City, Hawkeye and Fayette area; he also was a grain buyer.
GARRISON -- Dewey Wolf, 52, of Oelwein, formerly of Garrison, died Sunday, May 6, 2001, at East Towne Care Center, Independence, from complications of Lou Gehrig's disease; survivors include three sisters, Sharen Stueck of Vinton, Barbara Phelps of Garrison and Idamae Stanek of Independence; he was preceded in death by his parents, Vertus and Annabelle Nessler Wolf; services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home, Vinton, with burial in Oneida Cemetery, Clutier; friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home; Mr. Wolf worked at Iowa Ham in Vinton and transferred to the Independence plant, retiring in 1999.
GRUNDY CENTER -- Emileigh Hope Nibaur, 5-year-old daughter of Mark E. and Lori L. NEW HAMPTON -- Sister Armella Sinnwell, 75, of Dubuque, died Friday, Aug. 11, 2000, at Holy Family Hall, Dubuque, of natural causes; survivors include two brothers, Delphin "Pete" of Waterloo and Myron of New Jersey; and two sisters, Junilla Kuehn and Kathleen Laures, both of New Hampton; services will be 1 p.m. Friday at St. Francis Chapel, Dubuque, where there will be visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday; Sister Sinnwell was a teacher in primary grades at parishes in northeast Iowa and Illinois.
BRISTOW -- Dora Mae Miller, 90, of Bristow, died Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, at Community Nursing Home, Clarksville, of natural causes; survivors include a daughter, Billie "Jean" James of Franklin, Tenn.; nine grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren; and four brothers, Charlie Gordon of St. Louis, Mo., George Gordon of Jacksonville, Mo., Theron "Lefty" Gordon of Lincoln, Neb., and Roland Gordon of New Castle, Colo.; she was preceded in death by her husband, George; twin great-great-granddaughters; two sisters, Grace Hanson and Florence Wickham; and two brothers, John and Thomas Gordon; services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Linn's Funeral Home, with burial in Northlawn Memory Gardens, both in Iowa Falls; friends may call until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m.; Mrs. Miller was proprietor and owner of Dora's Tap and Grill, Bristow, for 39 years.
