Kenneth W. Bevars
Services were held March 30 for Kenneth Wayne Bevars, 77, a 25-year resident of St. Gregory Drive who died March 28 at Gilchrist Nursing Center in Towson.
Mr. Bevars was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He belonged to Dundalk United Metho-dist Church and Edgemere Senior Center. Gardening was one of his favorite pastimes.
Survivors are his wife, Thelma E. (nee Davis), sons Daniel J. and Gary W. Bevars, sister Josephine Grove, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services at Duda-Ruck Funeral Home were followed by interment at Oak Lawn Cemetery.
William O. Bickers
William Otis Bickers, 91, who worked for Bethlehem Steel for 43 years, died March 23 at Heritage Nursing Center.
Mr. Bickers, a Virginia native who never married, started rooming with Dewey and Pearl Garrison on Liberty Parkway when he was 17.
About four years ago, he moved to Heritage Nursing Center. A month later, Mrs. Garrison, a widow since 1965, also moved to the nursing home, where she died two years ago.
Mr. Bickers served in the U.S. Army in Italy during World War II and was awarded the World War II Victory Medal.
He was an active member and trustee of Hughes Memorial Presbyterian Church.
Survived by sisters Virginia Morris and Nedra Bruce and many nieces and nephews, he also will be missed by longtime friends Lawrence and Madeline Garrison and their daughters Denise Leoni and Betty Lou Dean. He was predeceased by sister Mattie Eddins.
A military honor guard held ritual services March 27 at Duda-Ruck Funeral Home. Interment followed at Moreland Memorial Cemetery.

Aloysius J. Clark
Services will be held Friday, April 7, for Aloysius Joseph Clark, 60, a former resident of Bear Creek Road who died after a brief illness April 2 at his home in Westover, Md.
The service begins 11 a.m. at Duda-Ruck Funeral Home, 7922 Wise Ave., with interment following at Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery.
Mr. Clark lived in Canton until three years ago, when he moved to Westover, where he operated a warehouse for Dayoff Inc., an Eastern Shore candy company.
He had earlier worked 13 years for GAF Industries and served as president of Laborers International Union Local 481 and as vice president of the union’s district council.
He was a longtime member of Edgemere Moose Lodge 537 and loved boating, crabbing and living on the water.
Survivors are his wife of 36 years, Evelyn (nee Flynn), and children Aloysius J. Clark Jr., Edward C. Clark and Katherine Clark Shelton. He is also survived by three grandchildren and many brothers and sisters.
Visitation at the funeral home was scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, April 5 and 6, from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
Wava G. Dodge
Longtime Watersedge resident Wava G. Dodge, 71, died March 13 at Franklin Square Hospital.
Born in Terra Alta, W.Va., the former Wava Cramer married Ronald Dodge in 1945. They moved to Baltimore in 1950.
She was a dedicated homemaker and loved doing whatever she could for her family. Her hobbies were making quilts, doing embroidery work and making her famous peanut butter fudge.
She always looked forward to summer vacations in West Virginia.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by children Judy Horsey, Nancy Chambers, Peggy Huffman and Joe and John Dodge. She also will be missed by eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, sister Olive Metheny and brother Reed Cramer.
Services and interment at Terra Alta Cemetery were held March 18 in West Virginia.
John J. Ernest Jr.
John Joseph Ernest Jr., a 47-year volunteer with the Wise Avenue Volunteer Fire Company, died suddenly March 12 at Franklin Square Hospital. Mr. Ernest, 73, was hospitalized since he fell March 3 at his home.
He and his wife lived on Frames Road for 42 years until they moved to Essex three years ago.
A 42-year employee of C&P Telephone Co. and a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, he was a line foreman in Dundalk, Edgemere and Sparrows Point when he retired in 1988.
He served eight years with the U.S. Marine Corps in both World War II and the Korean War. At age 17, he was youngest member of the Marine Air Wing Engineers.
He was a member of Edgemere Moose Lodge 537, the American Legion and St. Rita Church.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, the former Clara R. Adams, sons John J. Ernest III, Wayne D. and Lesley P. Ernest, mother Mary M. Ernest, seven brothers, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by one brother, James Ernest.
Fellow firefighters provided a two-man honor guard at Connelly Funeral Home of Essex and an escort to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, where Mr. Ern-est was buried March 16.

James J. Finn
Oakwood Road resident James “Jimmy” Joseph Finn, 65, died of lung cancer March 14 at Harbor Hospital in Baltimore.
Mr. Finn was an over-the-road truck driver and a well-known bluegrass musician in the Baltimore area. He played guitar with numerous bands, including the Foggy Hollow Boys and Carter Country, and will be remembered for a singing voice that many compared to bluegrass legend Mac Weisman.
Extremely proud of his Irish heritage, he had a quick wit, an unmistakable laugh and an uncanny ability to tell jokes.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia L. (nee Beauchamp), sons Thomas L. and William N. Finn and daughters Peggy Cosner, Susan Smith and Lisa Pennington. Other survivors are his mother, Dorothy Zuchi, and her husband, Dexter Zuchi, sisters Lois Butcher and Carol Allen, 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, James Reed Finn.
Services were held March 18 at Connelly Funeral Home. Interment followed at Holy Rosary Cemetery.
George H. Guth Sr.
George Henry Guth Sr., a Gray Manor resident since 1950, died March 11 at his home on Page Drive. He was 77.
Mr. Guth, a 30-year employee of Esskay Meats, was an order filler when he retired 16 years ago. In retirement, he liked setting up a table at North Point Plaza and North Point Drive-In flea markets.
For many years, he bowled in leagues in Highlandtown and Dundalk. He liked watching sports on TV, especially soccer, baseball and basketball.
He served with the U.S. Army military police during World War II and was a member of Charles Evering VFW Post 6506.
Predeceased in 1975 by his wife, Caroline Guth (nee Boracki), he is survived by daughter Caroline Guth and son George Guth Jr., both of Dundalk. He was predeceased by one brother and two sisters.
Services were held March 14 at Duda-Ruck Funeral Home.
Interment followed at St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
Mary T. Jackson
Mary Triantafilos Jackson, 44, died of cancer March 15 at her home in Jones Creek.
A graduate of Sparrows Point High School and Towson State University, she was a senior systems analyst for Greater Baltimore Medical Center. She had earlier worked for Helix Health Care and First National Bank.
In addition to her husband of six years, Harold Jackson, she is survived by mother Angela Triantafilos, sister Flora Kiska, several nephews, nieces and other family members.
Services were held March 18 at Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation. Interment followed at Oak Lawn Cemetery.
Dorothy Parlett
Former Gray Manor resident Dorothy Parlett (nee Pencek) died March 16 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She was 71.
Mrs. Parlett was born in Colgate and raised in Edgemere. She had lived on McComas Avenue in Gray Manor for 47 years before she and her husband moved to Aberdeen in 1998.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed crocheting, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren, and was a longtime member of First Lutheran Church of Gray Manor.
In addition to her husband of 52 years, Joseph S. Parlett, she is survived by children Kathleen Pratt, Susan Phillips, Joanne Carr and Joseph B. Parlett, four sisters, one brother, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services were held March 20 at First Lutheran Church of Gray Manor. Interment was at Oak Lawn Cemetery.
Virginia Stone
Former Waldman Avenue resident Virginia Honora Stone (nee Schemp) died Feb. 16 at Sinai Hospital. She was 83 and lived in Gardenville.
Born in Pittsburgh and raised in Baltimore, she was athletic and enjoyed bowling and other sports during her younger years. In later years, she liked going to Pimlico Racetrack and Atlantic City.
She worked as a seamstress for Raleigh Manufacturing Co. until it closed and she retired.
Survivors are sons Robert L., William B. and Walter M. Stone, all of Edgemere, sister Elizabeth Ritter, three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Services were held Feb. 18 at Duda-Ruck Funeral Home followed by interment at Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery.
John P. Wolff Sr.
John P. Wolff Sr., owner of ABC Heating and Air Conditioning, died of complications of cancer March 19 at Fallston General Hospital. He was 61.
Mr. Wolff graduated from Milford Mill High School and served two years in the U.S. Naval Reserve. He worked in his father’s heating and air conditioning business before establishing his own company about 20 years ago.
A former resident of Searles Road, he moved to Joppa in 1980.
He liked model railroading and camping. He held memberships in the Country Pride, Harford County and Western dance associations.
Survivors are his wife, Barbara Joan (nee Brinegar), sons John P. Jr., Louis R., Charles W., Steven W. Wolff and Scott Malott, mother Josephine Wolff, sisters Josephine Buckler, Marion Anderson and Elenor Bollinger, brothers Leo Wolff Jr. and James Wolff, nine grandchildren and other family members. He also leaves behind his former wife, Marie Emminizer.
Services were held March 23 at Schimunek Funeral Home of Bel Air. Interment followed at Bel Air Memorial Gardens.

Ruth Y. Ziegelheafer
Former Eastpoint resident Ruth Yvonne Ziegelheafer (nee Hillman) of Essex, 66, died after a long illness March 27 in Florida.
Mrs. Ziegelheafer, who was born in Pittsburgh, was a bartender at Costa’s Inn for many years until her retirement about seven years ago.
She had always enjoyed needlepoint and cooking for her family. Years ago, she liked family camping trips, especially those in Ocean City.
She is survived by her husband, Earl Ziegelheafer, sons Kenneth and Lawrence Ziegelheafer, daughters Yvonne Brandon and Bonnie Coucci, mother Ethel Hillman, brother John Paul Hillman and three grandchildren.
The family plans a memorial service later.
Franklin Adams
Longtime Dundalk resident Franklin "Ted" Adams, 79, died of cancer May 26 at Fort Howard VA Medical Center.
Mr. Adams lived on Mornington Road for more than 25 years before moving to the Parkview Apartments on Center Place last year.
He worked in the shipyard at Bethlehem Steel for many years, before health problems forced an early retirement.
During World War II, Mr. Adams served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Predeceased by his wife, Miriam (nee O’Neill), he leaves behind many family members and friends.
Mr. Adams donated his body to the Maryland State Anatomy Board.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Inez M. Brittain
Services will be held Thursday, June 1, for lifelong Jones Creek resident Inez Marie Brittain (nee Bundy), 64, who died at home May 29.
The service begins 8 p.m. at Dundalk Church of the Nazarene, 1626 Lynch Road. Friends may visit at the church Thursday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
She received an associate of arts degree from Dundalk Community College, graduating with a perfect 4.0 grade-point average. She was a dean’s list student and was named to Who’s Who in American Junior Colleges.
Mrs. Brittain went on to teach a course, Managing Independence, for disabled students in the school’s Single Step Program. After the program was discontinued, she organized three reunions for former Single Step students and staff.
For about 15 years, she and her husband owned a bakery and pool hall on Sparrows Point Road in Edgemere. In the late 1970s, they sold both businesses.
She belonged to the Dundalk Optimist Club and wrote a grant proposal for and later managed the club’s drug awareness program.
She was an active member of Dundalk Church of the Nazarene.
Predeceased in 1984 by her husband, Fern L. Brittain Sr., she is survived by daughter Janet Ambrosino, sons Ernest, James, John and Joseph Forbes and Fern L. Jr. , Raymond and Robert Brittain. She also leaves behind brothers Harry, Robert and Ronald "Joe" Bundy, sisters Darlene Whitelaw and Patricia Plumley, 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Another son, Blair Brittain, died in 1979.
Burial will be private.
