Kermit R. Larson

Kermit R. Larson, 81, of Harris, died May 20, 2000 at Cambridge Medical Center.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 24 at Elim Baptist Church in Isanti with Rev. Ronald Bergman officiating and Robert Eastlund and Anita Colbaugh serving as musicians. Burial will be in Isanti Union Cemetery with Orville Anderson, Leif Erickson, Darwin Larson, Wilfred Norstrom. Hugo Pearson and Bert Vande Kamp as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 23 at Cambridge Funeral Home-Strike Chapel and for one hour prior to the service at the church.

He was born in Cambridge December 24, 1918 to Elmer and Phoboe (Lakeberg) Larson, From Cambridge they moved to Elmer’s home place in Fish Lake Township. Kermit attended District 25, South Pine Lake School in Chisago County which was on the corner of Larson’s homestead. He grew up and lived in Pine Lake all of his life except for two years serving in the U.S. Army. Kermit was stationed in San Diego, CA. and in Iceland. He married Marjorie Bergman of Isanti October 31, 1942 and the couple were parents of three children, Larry, Lance and Connie. After coming home from the Army he farmed and hauled cattle for many years. Kermit was well-known in the area.

He was preceded in death by his son, Larry and by his brother, Lloyd.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Marjorie; son, Lance; daughter, Connie; grandson, Michael Clemens; and brother, Dennis Larson.

Marge Gooding

Marge S. Gooding, 70, of Mapleton, MN. died May 5, 2000.

Services were held May 8 from Olson Tichenor Funeral Home in Mapleton with Rev. Richard Salge officiating. The hymns, “On Eagles’ Wings,” “In The Garden,” “What A Friend We Have In Jesus,” and “The Lord’s Prayer” were sung.

She was born in Mankato June 6, 1929 to Adolph and Cecilia (Proehl) Strehlo. She was a graduate of Pemberton High School. For many years Marge worked as a secretary in California. She returned to N.H.; son, David Dix of East Grand Forks; sisters, Lavina Bell Ratliffe of Richmond, IN. Helen Dalen of Georgetown, MN.; Ann Smith of Pomona Park, FL.; brothers, D. John Anderson of Roswell, N.M.; Carl G. Anderson of Fargo and Arthur P. Anderson of Dent, MN; 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Arrangements were with Cambridge Funeral Home-Strike Chapel.

Lois Morse

Lois A. Morse, 49, of Isanti, died suddenly May 21, 2000 at Cambridge Medical Center.

Memorial services have ben scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, May 25 at Strike Funeral Home-Isanti Chapel with Chaplain Paul Reynolds officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

She was born March 31, 1951 in White Bear Lake to Ralph and Helen Gutzmer.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Gutzmer.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Robert of Isanti; mother, Helen Gutzmer of White Bear Lake; brothers, Otto (Diane) of White Bear Lake; Lloyd (Peggy) of Mora and sister Elaine (Jerry) Hendrickson of Ft. Worth.

Richard West

Richard W. West, 65, of Stanchfield, died May 11, 2000.

A private family funeral was held.

A memorial to remember Richard will be held at his brother Jack West’s home from 1-3 p.m. June 4.

He was born in Burlington, N.J. August 3, 1934 to Howard and Evelyn West. He lived in New Jersey; nephews, Jim and Chris Anderson and Jack (Melinda) West Jr.; niece, Carolyn O’Brien; great-nieces, Ashlee West, Ballee West; Krissy and Katie O’Brien.

Arrangements were with Rock-Mankie Funeral Home of Braham.

Carol Cosgrove

Carol Ilene (Erickson) Cosgrove, 46, of Ooltewah, Washington, D.C., Desert Storm in Dahran, Saudi Arabia, and the Michigan National Guard. She lived in Hamilton County, Woods of Bethel; Terry (Cindy) of Brooklyn Park; stepchildren, Sharon Carpenter of Princeton; Wayne (Loretta) Bushey of East Bethel; Vicky Johnson of Coon Rapids; Marcy (Russell) Laidlaw of Hamel; 22 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; brothers, Glen of Lancaster, CA. and Isaac of St. James and sisters, Evelyn Peters of St. James and Dorretta Brown of Salem, OR.

Eileen Wicklund

Eileen Ann Wicklund, 78, of Stewartville, MN. formerly of Isanti and Cambridge, died May 25, 2000 at Karrington Cottages in Rochester, MN.

Services were held at Elim Baptist Church in Isanti May 28 with Rev. Roger Anderson and Rev. Gordon Sundberg officiating. Soloist was Robert Eastlund. Burial was in North Isanti Baptist Cemetery with Paul, Tom and Ted Olson, Daryl and Duane Peterson and Andrew Wicklund as pallbearers.

She was born in rural Isanti April 11, 1922 to Ador and Regina Olson. It was in the Blomford Community that she was raised and attended school. On June 13, 1942 she married Walfred Wicklund at North Isanti Baptist Church and they made their home in Isanti until 1979 when they moved to Cambridge. On March 30, 1998 they moved to Stewartville to be near their daughter, Susan, and family. During her working years, Eileen worked at the First State Bank of Isanti for many years and then was a bookkeeper for Grandview Christian Home in Cambridge until her retirement. She was an active member of Elim Baptist Church in Isanti serving as Sunday School teacher, singing in the choir and doing all that she could for her Lord. She had a servant’s heart and always took care of others before herself. She enjoyed cooking, knitting and doing crossword puzzles.

She is survived by her husband, Wally of Stewartville; son, Larry of Shoreview; daughter, Susan (Bruce) Trulson of Stewartville; brothers, Bennett (Adelle) Olson of Faribault; and Fillmore (Phyllis) Olson of Isanti; sister, Caroline (Kenneth) Peterson of Braham and by four grandchildren.

Arrangements were with Strike Funeral Home-Isanti Chapel.

Fabian Gonshorowski

Mass of Christian Burial for Fabian Sebastian Gonshorowski of Maple Ridge was held May 22, 2000 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, with Father Nicholas Zimmer officiating. Music was provided by Joni Nelson. Active pallbearers were Mike Vander Veen, Bill Vander Veen, Danny Vander Veen, Gary Stein, Larry Stein, and Jeff Geroy. Honorary pallbearers were Wayne Stelling and Paul Stein. Interment was at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church Cemetery in Braham.

Fabian was born March 8, 1922 at Leo, MN, the son of Adam and Cathrine (Myszkowski) Gonshorowski. He attended school and grew up in the Leo community. As a young man he worked on the large farms in the area. He married Rosalie A. Stein September 14, 1956 at Roseau, MN. They made their home on a farm in Maple Ridge Township where they have since lived. Fabian had a great love for animals and the outdoors. He was an avid deer hunter and fisherman. He loved to dance the polka. In his younger days, Fabian enjoyed snowmobiling.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Josephine Novacek, Francis Gonshorowski, Irene Erickson, and a sister Delores in infancy.

He is survived by his wife, Rosalie; children: Gerald of Ormond Beach, FL, Grace (John) Vander Veen of Sergeant Bluff, IA, Raymond (Debra) of Oak Grove, Arthur (Shelly) of Maple Grove, Wendell (fiance Darla) of Coon Rapids, Robert of Maple Ridge, Nick of Maple Ridge; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers: Peter, Felix (Genevieve); sisters: Martha Novacek and Helen Gonshorowski.

Arrangements by the Rock-Mankie Burial and Cremation Services of Braham.

Elizabeth E. Swenson

Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 3, 2000, at 11:00 a.m. at the Rock Mankie Funeral Home for Elizabeth E. Swenson of Eden Prairie, formerly of Grasston. The Reader, David Swank officiated while Marilyn Brace provided music. Pallbearers were Robert Swenson, Lonnie Swenson, Gary Swenson, Roger Goetze, Douglas Hum and Scott Carlson. Interment for Elizabeth was at the Rice Lake Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements were by Rock Mankie Burial and Cremation Services of Braham.

Elizabeth Swenson, age 105, of Eden Prairie, died on Tuesday, May 30, 2000.

She was born on June 18, 1894 at Moose Lake, Minnesota. They first made their home in Duluth. Then they moved to Sturgeon Lake, Braham and Grasston. For the past two years Elizabeth had resided at the Castle Ridge Care Center in Eden Prairie. She was a devoted, loving mother.

She is survived by: two sons, Donald and wife, Avis; Norris and wife, Maxine; one daughter, Gladys and husband, Jim Goetze; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Edwin, son, Robert, one sister and six brothers.

Margaret Herman

Margaret Herman was born December 3, 1913 in Mapleton, MN to Fay and Cassie (Phelps) Hicks. She was raised in Mapleton and graduated from Mapleton High School in 1931. She married LaVern Herman on April 4, 1932 and after marriage they moved to Hancock Minnesota for 10 years, and then to Chester, IA for five years. While in Florida and John Hicks of St Paul, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, LaVern; her daughter, Beverly Zabel; her parents, five brothers and two sisters.

Margaret passed away Saturday morning, June 3, 2000, with her children by her side, at the Elim Home in Princeton at the age of 86 years and 6 months. Her visitation was held June 5 at Williams-Hanson-Kaun Funeral Home, and her funeral was June 6 at Spencer Brook United Church.

Vernon Olson

Vernon Arnold Olson, 82, of Princeton, MN, passed away at Cambridge Health Care Center in Cambridge on June 1, 2000, after complications of pneumonia.

Vernon was born on February 7, 1918, in Wyanett Township, Isanti County, to David and Ellen (Moline) Olson. He attended Karmel country school. As a young man, Vernon worked for many area farmers, including Egmont Radake, for several winters. At other times he worked at the CCC camp in Hinckley and at the Dalbo Feed Mill. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was honored as a sergeant and served in Korea. He was discharged on September 8, 1946. On September 28, 1946, he married Dorothy Wyoming, MN to Anton and Mathilda Fingal. It was there that she was raised and attended school. On November 6, 1937 she married Carl O. Jacobson. They made their home in Minneapolis for five years before they moved to Hampton, Wyoming, Arnold (Beatrice) Fingal of Iowa, Peter J. (Sharon) Lindgren of Cambridge, Gerald (Anita) Lindgren of Hancock, Nancy (Walter) Bennett of Waseca, Ronald (Joan) Lindgren of Duluth, Patricia (Michael) Johnson of Andover; and by 19 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held June 9 from Cambridge Lutheran Church with Rev. Dennis Tollefson officiating. Organist was Elaine Johnson. Active pallbearers were Garry Bennett, Walter Bennett, Matthew Bennett, Peter S. Lindgren, Kenneth Lindgren, and Michael Johnson. Honorary pallbearers were Daniel Nordeen and Steve Bennett. A horse drawn hearse led the procession to Cambridge Lutheran Cemetery.

Arrangement were with the Carlson-Labatte Funeral Home in Cambridge.
