Jacob JAWORSKI, 50, convicted last Thursday in Supreme Court at Mayville of the murder of Mrs. Mechelina MANCHALSKI at Findley Lake, was sentenced by Justice SEARS to die in the electric chair at Sing Sing during the week of January 29.

Charles HUFSTADER died at his home on Mill Street at Delevan on Saturday, 26 November 1921, after a long and painful time from Bright's disease. He was obliged to give up all work for over a year, but was confined to his bed only a week. He bore his suffering patiently, yet often said he would be glad to go home. Mr. HUFSTADER was the son of David and Eliza HUFSTADER and was born in the Town of Ashford on 3 April 1848. Out of a family of seven, only one brother, Oscar HUFSTADER, survives. Mr. HUFSTADER was married on 6 July 1873
to Lucetta BRANCH of Ellicottville. He and his wife baptized and united with the Methodist Church at McKinstry in 1893. Since then he has lived each day as a Christian life, always ready to help in a good cause, a loving husband and father. He will be greatly missed by
the lonely widow and children who survive him, the daughter, Mrs. Charles WILSON of West Yorkshire, the sons: Glenn HUFSTADER of Delevan and Alva HUFSTADER of Portland, Oregon, two grandchildren, Claude and Hazel WILSON, besides a host of friends. The funeral services were held from his late home, conducted by Rev. John WHITNEY, who read the 14th Chapter of St. John, and spoke from the conforting words found in the 2nd and 3rd verses. Prayers by Rev. C.O. ODELL. "The Child of a King" was sung by Mr. and Mrs. A.J. DAVIS. He will be laid to rest in the McKinstry Cemetery.

George WILLEY, a life long resident and Civil War veteran of Bliss, died last week aged 78 years.

Lester M. ALLEN, age 47, in the undertaking and furniture business at North Java for 30 years, died last week.

Mrs. William K. HARRISON, wife of the Supervisor of the Salamanca Railroad yards, is dead after a few days illness with pneumonia.

Harris W. SANDOL, 18, of East Aurora, died on Sunday from a fractured skull caused by a fall from a horse.

Mrs. Nora HERRICK, wife of the editor of the "Shingle House Mail", died on Sunday evening, December 4th, following a week's illness from pneumonia.

Alfred HOLMES of Celeron, 65, fell dead while at work on Thursday.

Henry C. MORGAN, President of the First National Bank of Cuba, died on Friday morning, age 67.

Christopher, Edward J., 84, of Collins, died Feb. 7, 2000 in Buffalo. He was husband of the late Millicent Meyers Christopher; son of the late Joseph and Lena DeMarco Christopher; father of Edward Christopher and Carol Shattuck; brother of Sam Christopher, the late Della Leone, Josephine Loffredo, Jennie Chiarmonte, Liz Ursitti, and Thomas, James, and Vincenco Christopher.

Elvin, Arthur J., 76, of Gowanda, died Feb. 13, 2000 in Gowanda. He was husband of Margaret Boberg Elvin; and the late Sally Victor Elvin; son of the late Arthur J., Sr. and Ann McCallie Elvin; father of Ronald and Daniel Elvin; brother of Mary Dalton, Margaret Mammoser, and Robert Elvin.

Krauss, Chester L., 72, of Gowanda, died Feb. 11, 2000. He was the father of Wayne and Jeffrey Krauss; and brother of Doris M. Krauss and the late James A. Krauss.

Russo, Mary C. Renaldo, 75, of North Collins, died Feb. 11, 2000. She was the wife of the late Charles F. Russo; mother of Richard Russo, Patricia Mack, and Michael Russo; sister of Lucy Kelm, Josephine Kusior, Mary Lardo, and the late Paul Renaldo, Laura Romero, Katherine Haynes, and Peter Renaldo.

Stebbins, Ernest R., Sr., 59, of Gowanda, died Feb. 14, 2000. He was the husband of Jennie Benson Stebbins; son of the late Earnest and L:ila Christian Stebbins; father of Ernest Stebbins and Sheila Bailey; brother of Paula Slack, Trudy Penn, and Alan Stebbins.

Brown, Jerome D., 62, of Dayton, died Jan. 6, 2000. He was husband of Edith Housel Brown; son of Lottie Kota Brown and the late Everett Brown; father of Kathleen Williams, Jacqueline Britt, and Rebecca Ann Brownl brother of Sandra Ridgley, Cheryl Williams and the late Robert Brown.

Loveless, Margaret, 83, of Gowanda, died Jan. 12, 2000. She was the wife of the late Fred Loveless and Elmer Loveless; daughter of the late William and Minnie Cult Keating; mother of Donald Loveless, Gail N. Matthies, and Carol Gullazzo; and sister of Lorne Keating.

Neeley, Grace E., 93, of Gowanda, died Jan. 6, 2000. She was the wife of the late Gilbert and Rena B. Crane Laidlaw; mother of Shirley Hall, Gladys Strange, William Neeley, James Neeley, and the late Jeanette A. Sajdak; a sister of Ada MacLaren, Robert Laidlaw, and the late A. Jane Dukarn, and Floyd Laidlaw.

Dietter, Clara G., 92, died Jan. 18, 2000 in Gowanda. She was the wife of the late Frederick J. Dietter; daughter of the late Henry and Emma Arndt Opferbeck; sister of Lloyd Opferbeck, Irene Hill, and the late Fritz Opferbeck, Arndt Opferbeck, Harry Opferbeck, Marie Prince, Grace Schunak, Hilda Sprowl, and Freda Beckman.

Priest, George William, Jr., 74, formerly of the South Dayton sarea, died Jan. 23, 2000 in Raleigh, NC. He was the husband of the late Grace Marie Wood Priest; son of the late George, Sr. and Iva Holsted Priest; father of Kenneth ,Clifford, John and Harold Rumsey, Janet Gurtze, Margaret Woodley,; brother of Herbert Priest, Gladdis Pickero, Wilma Newcomb, and the late Allan, Morris, and Walter Priest.

Stearns, Bruce W., 56, of Arcade, died Jan. 18, 2000 in Rochester. He was the husband of Carol Phair Stearns; son of Theo Austin Stearns and the late Wayne Stearns; father of Douglas Stearns, Mark Stearns, Melisa Stitzel, and Patricia Stearns; brother of Sandra Burton, Brenda Doster, Wade Stearns, Claudia Kile, Constance Heineman and Dean Stearns.

Willett, Walter, 86, formerly of Collins, now of Billings, MT, died Jan. 15, 2000. He is survived by nieces and nephews in this area.

Croker, Harold S., 93, of Perrysburg, died Jan. 17, 2000 in Gowanda. He was the husband of the late Gladys Allard Croker, son of the late Daniel and Anne Harrison Croker; father of Marilyn Turnbull, Lois Johnson, Lavern Varney and Lynn Varney; and brother of the late Vernon Croker.

Jacobs, Harold L., Sr., 75, of Irving, died Jan. 12, 2000 in Dunkirk. He was the husband of the late Phyllis M. Jacobs, son of the late Eli and Lydia Logan Jacobs; father of Randy, Dr. Barry, and Harold Jacobs, Jr.; and brother of the late Irene Patterson, Josephine and Lorenda Jacobs, and Wallace, Eli, and Solon Jacobs.

Wilson, Dorothy A., 67, of Gowanda, died Jan. 16, 2000. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Doris Knaus Odiam; mother of Richard and Edward Wilson, Deborah Wilson, Katherine Maddox, and Karen Clabeaux; sister of Carl Odium, Sandy and Donna; and the late Paul Odiam, Marie and Eileen.

Hay, Mildred L., 83, died Jan. 27, 2000 in Gowanda. She was preceded in death by her parents and a twin sister.

Himelein, Levant M., 76, died Jan. 28, 2000 in Venice, FL. He was the husband of Barbara Nielson Himelein, son of the late Levant M. and Cora Lee Clarke Himelein, father of Larry, Neil, and Hans Himelein, and Deborah Cole, and Melissa Himelein; and brother of Doris Currie and the late James Himelein.

Andrea, Caroline M. Ploetz, 85, of Ellicottville, died Feb. 2, 2000 in Salamanca. She was the daughter of the late Martin and Louise Trautman Ploetz; mother of Francis and David Andrea, Helen Lincoln, Barbara Allen, Carole Hansen, Joyce Hines, and the late Philip Andrea; and sister of William Ploetz, Gladys Phinney, Beatrice Darcy, and Esther Fleckenstein.
