Edward Sanders Jr.
Former Hiram Mayor Edward Rembert Sanders Jr., 91, of Bradenton, Fla., died Sunday at his home.
Born July 11, 1906 in Charleston, S.C., he moved to Florida from Hiram in 1982.
Mr. Sanders was a chemical engineer until he retired. He served as mayor of Hiram from 1957 to 1961. He also served as a Hiram Township trustee and a Hiram Board of Education member.He also was a deacon of Hiram Christian Church.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Bradenton, Fla. and was on the roster of Registered Professional Engineers and Professional Surveyors of Ohio.
Survivors include his sons, Edward R. III of Tampa, Fla., Richard G. of Carlsbad, Calif. and David W. of Athens, Ohio; daughter, Amy of Winston-Salem, N.C.; four grandchildren; and sister, Alma Thomas of Savannah, Ga.
Services were held Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church in Bradenton, Fla. Kicliter Funeral Home in Palmetto, Fla. handled arrangements.
Dorothy Fink
Dorothy G. Fink, 63, of North Olmsted, the mother of Laura (Andy) VonStein of Ravenna, died at home Tuesday after a 13-month illness.
Mrs. Fink was a dental assistant for Dr. Roger Cosgriff. She also was a sales representative for Avon products for 30 years.
In addition to Mrs. VonStein, survivors include her husband, Melvin A.; son, David (Karen); daughter, Kathleen; two grandchildren and one brother.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Jenkins Funeral Chapel, 2914 Dover Center Road, Westlake. Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Clarence Catholic Church, 30106 Lorain Road, North Olmsted. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Margaret Morally
Former Newton Falls resident Margaret G. Morally ,68, of Peru, Ind., died Tuesday in Winona Memorial Hospital in Indianapolis, Ind.
Born Dec. 12, 1928 in Newton Falls, she was the daughter of John and Eva (Pollack) Gretchko.
Mrs. Morally was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Michael Church in Newton Falls.
Survivors include her husband, Dennis J., whom she married Aug. 10, 1953; daughter, Karen Fish of Glen Burnie, Md.; one grandchild; and sisters, Madeline Holesko of Newton Falls, Olga Kapalko of Sebring and Sally Burow of Monroeville, Pa. Her son, Gary D., one sister and two brothers died previously.
Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Borowski Funeral Home in Newton Falls. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael Church in Newton Falls. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery.
Anna Pemberton
Anna A. Pemberton, 82, of Ravenna, died Tuesday at her daughter's home following a period of declining health.
Born Jan. 12, 1915 in Cleveland, she was the daughter of John and Frances (Pazdernek) Kubisek.
Mrs. Pemberton retired from the Woolworth Corp.
She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 496 in Kent.
Survivors include her son, John of Las Vegas; daughter, Mrs. John (Betty) Hamilton of Ravenna; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and sister, Helen Jelinek of Garfield Heights. Her sister, Frances Bowman, died previously.
Calling hours will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Wood-Kortright Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Ravenna.
Elizabeth Sigley
Elizabeth (Miller) Sigley, 81, of Niles, the mother of several area residents, died Wednesday at home after a long illness.
Born Dec. 12, 1915 in Campbell, she was the daughter of Andrew and Hedigus (Lego) Zidell. She came to Trumbull County as a child.
Mrs. Sigley was a housewife.
She was a member of the Apostolic Bible Church of Niles.
Survivors include her sons, George and David Miller, both of Niles, and Francis and Robert Miller, both of Garrettsville, Earl Miller of Windham, and William Miller Jr., of Niles, with whom she lived; daughters, Delores Taylor of Howland, Betty Jane Campbell of Ocala, Fla., Barbara Ann Anderson and Darlene Gearheart, both of Mineral Ridge, Ruth Tarter of Ruskin, Fla., and Patricia Campbell of Niles; 40 grandchildren;33 great-grandchildren; and half-sister, Margaret DellaPinta of Narco, Calif. Her first husband, William Miller Sr., died Feb. 8, 1958, and her second husband, Clarence Sigley, died Nov. 3, 1990. Her sons, Billy and John Miller, and daughters, Rebecca Miller and Sandra Turner, two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two brothers died previously.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home, 126 W. Park Ave., Niles, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Niles.
Bobby Fitzgerald Jr.
Bobby J. Fitzgerald Jr., 18, of Kent, died Tuesday at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna.
Born Aug. 23, 1978 in Bedford, he was the son of Bobby J. and Monica Fitzgerald. He was a Kent resident for many years.
In addition to his parents, survivors include his brothers, Darnell, Andre and Shaun, and sister, Satasha Fitzgerald, all of Kent; and grandparents, Leroy (Luella) Fitzgerald of Twinsburg, and A.L. Harris of Denver, Colo.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until services at 10 a.m. Saturday at Mount Olive Church in Twinsburg. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery in Twinsburg. Arrangements were made by Stewart and Calhoun Funeral Home in Akron.
Kauffman infant
GARRETTSVILLE Sarah Elizabeth Kauffman, the daughter of Joe Kauffman and JoAnna Hochstetler, died shortly after birth Monday at Geauga Regional Hospital in Chardon.
In addition to her parents, survivors include her brother, Logan Derek; and grandparents, Joe and Amanda (Miller) Kauffman II and Eli and Mary (Slabaugh) Hochstetler.
Services will be held at 4 p.m. today at Maple View Mennonite Church Cemetery in Burton, with the Rev. John Gingrich officiating. Arrangements were made by Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home in Garrettsville. Faith Nestor
Faith Leona (Juszli) Nestor, 39, of Akron died Monday.
Born in Barberton, she had lived in the area all of her life.
Mrs. Nestor most recently was employed by H&R Block. She had previously worked for the Aurora Police Department and as a bus driver for Stow and Hudson schools.
She had received the Award of Achievement for 1992-93 for the Graduate Equivalency Diploma.
Survivors include her son, Dennis Ray (Barbie) of Lima; daughter, Marcia Alexandria, at home; father Floyd (Ginger) Juszli Sr. of Stow; mother Clara E. Juszli of Akron; and brothers Floyd Juszli Jr. of Stow and Vaughn M. Juszli of Akron.

Arthur L. Chrell
AURORA Arthur L. Chrell, 75, died Monday at Meridia South Pointe Hospital in Warrensville Heights after a short illness.
Born Oct. 17, 1921 in Mantua, he was the son of Anthony and Mary (Debennedeto) Chrell. He had lived in Mantua before moving to Aurora.
Mr. Chrell was a salesman for Sam Glazer Co. until he retired. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church of Ravenna.
Survivors include stepson, George Fedor of Pennsylvania; stepdaughters, Sharon Desatink of Cleveland and Diana Zak of Medina; brother, Harry of Ravenna; and sisters, Edith Lyons and Daisy Knight of Ravenna. His wife, Alice, died in 1995.
Calling hours will be held today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Wood-Kortright Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Church in Ravenna, with the Rev. Leo Werhlin officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in Mantua.

Ann Egleston
STREETSBORO - Ann K. Egleston, 76 , died Monday at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna after a short illness.
Born Aug. 18, 1920 in Cleveland, she was the daughter of John and Theresa (Pavlik) Pistotnik. She had lived in Streetsboro for 10 years. Mrs. Egleston had been an employee of Western Electric Co. in Solon for 26 years.
She was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church of Streetsboro and the Telephone Pioneers.
Survivors include her son, Steve Jr. of New Baltimore, Mich.; daughter, Theresa Balawender of Scottsdale, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother and five sisters. Five brothers and three sisters died previously.
Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 tonight at Shorts Funeral Home, Streetsboro Chapel. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Streetsboro, with the Rev. Robert Flynn officiating.
Doris Persuhn
Doris Belle Persuhn, 56, of Ravenna, died Monday at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna.
Born Sept. 30, 1940 in Cleveland, she was the daughter of Theodore and Edna (Bailey) Taylor. She had lived in Ravenna most of her life.
Mrs. Persuhn had worked as a nurse's aide at Longmeadow Care Center in Ravenna.
She was was a member of Full Gospel Tabernacle of Streetsboro.
Survivors include her husband, Robert E. Sr.; sons, Robert E. Jr. of Ravenna, and Ralph E. of Kent; daughter, Dawna J. Hensley of Kent; six grandchildren; brother, Robert E. Taylor of Florida; sister, Edna J. Dean of Cleveland Heights; half-brother, Terry of Ravenna; and sister, Lucille Parr of Florida.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Wood-Kortright Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, with the Rev. Thomas Shirer officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Streetsboro.
Mary Stroup
ATWATER - Mary Vivian (Sickle) Stroup, 90, died at her home on Monday.
Born Feb. 28, 1907, in Beech. W.Va., she was the daughter of George and Nora Sickle. She had lived in Atwater since 1926.
Mrs. Stroup was a homemaker.
She had been a member of the Atwater United Methodist Church and in recent years had become a member of the Atwater Congregational Church.
She had been active in many organizations. including Pythian Sisters, Good Friends Club, Farm Bureau, Knights of Pythias Lodge and Atwater Lions Club Wives.
Survivors include her sons, Gerald of Atwater, David of Alliance, Alan of Cocoa, Fla., and Roger of Moscow Mills, Mo.; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Russell, Clyde and Harold Sickle; and sister, Wanda Nichols. Her husband, Chester; brother, Donald Sickle; sisters, May Cooper and Leola Whittlesey; and two grandchildren died previously.
There will be no calling hours. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Atwater Congregational Church, with the Rev. Joseph Peters officiating. Wood-Kortright Funeral Home, Atwater Chapel is handling arrangements.

Rev. Inez Livingston Willis
The Rev. Inez Livingston Willis, 92, assistant pastor of the Ravenna Avenue Church of God, died Sunday at Bridgepark Center in Akron.
Rev. Willis had been associated with the Ravenna Avenue Church of God for more than 35 years, working with the Rev. Cleaster Fowler and his predecessor. She also was an associate minister at the Westside Church of God in Akron.
A Ravenna resident for most of her life, Mrs. Willis retired from her position as housekeeper at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna, where she had worked for 14 years. She also worked at Oak Rubber Co., cleaned at the Ravenna City Jail and cooked at Immaculate Conception Church in Ravenna.
She was an active member of the NAACP for more than 35 years. She enjoyed sewing and quilting.
Born Jan. 12, 1905 in Pomaria, S.C., she was first of Walter and Lelia (Johnson) Eichelberger's 11 children. She began working after completing the fourth grade.
Rev. Willis and her first husband, Walter Livingston, worked as maid and butler in homes in Scarsdale and White Plains, N.Y., before moving to Ravenna to work in the newly opened Army Ordnance Plant.
Survivors include her son, Walter Livingston of Exton, Pa.; daughters, Juanita Portis of Columbia, S.C., Lurlene Heller of Akron, Claudia Parker of Cleveland and Mildred Yancy of Warren; 27 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and brother, Tryon Eichelberger of Columbia, S.C. Her first husband, Walter Livingston; second husband, Luther Willis; and sisters died previously.
Visitation will be held from noon until services at 1 p.m. Thursday at the First Church of God on New Milford Road in Ravenna, with the Rev. Nobles C. Darby officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Ravenna. Arrangements were made by Shorts Funeral Home in Ravenna.
Marion "Paul" Gray
Marion P. "Paul" Gray, 70, of Ravenna, died Monday at his home.
Born Jan. 8, 1927 in Sistersville, W.Va., he was the son of Alonzo L. and Ethel (Bailey) Gray. He had lived in Ravenna since 1954.
Mr. Gray was a foreman at North American Rockwell Co. in Newton Falls until he retired.
He was a member of the Ravenna Church of Christ.
Survivors include his sons, Greg E. of Manassas, Va., Paul W. of Ravenna and Lewis P. of Cuyahoga Falls; daughters, Mrs. Robert (Becky) Hanna of Ravenna; daughter-in-law, Cherie Gray of Ravenna; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and sisters, Jean Kerner, Deloris Placer and Vivian Pasternak, all of West Virginia. His wife, Helen M., died in 1992. A sister, Sarah Horbert, also died previously.

Mildred Thompson
WINDHAM - Mildred M. "Midge" Thompson, 70, died Tuesday at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna after a long illness.
Born Dec. 9, 1926 in Denison, Ohio, she was the daughter of Bernice G. and Jessie (Garbarandt) Waggoner. She had lived in Ravenna until moving to Windham two years ago.
Mrs. Thompson retired in 1977 from the Portage County Nursing Home where she was a nurse's aide.
Survivors include her sons, Kenneth G. of Kokomo, Ind., James F. of Akron, Phillip G. and Terry A., both of Ravenna, and Thomas W. of Windham; 22 grandchildren; and brother, Glen J. Waggoner of Lake Milton. Her husband, Kenneth, died in 1983. Her daughter, Katherine, and brother, Robert, also died previously.
Calling hours will be held from 7 to 9 tonight at Wood-Kortright Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, with the Rev. William H. Davis officiating. Burial will be in Vaughn Cemetery in Lake Milton.
Ursula Bryan
Ursula M. Bryan, 85, of Diamond, died Tuesday at home.
Born April 6, 1912 in Ogdensburg, N.Y., she was the daughter of Lowell and Charlotte (Stockem) Greenier. She had lived in Diamond for 11 years after moving there from Florida.
Mrs. Bryan was a supervisor in the laundry division at Rocklyn City Hospital in New York.
Survivors include her son, Robert of New York; daughter, Mrs. Joseph (Joan) Rose, with whom she lived; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and sister, Barbara Lattimar of Mississippi.
There will be no calling hours or services. Arrangements are being handled by Borowski Funeral Home in Newton Falls.
Josephine King
Josephine B. King, 92, of Newton Falls, died Monday at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren.
Born March 21, 1905 in Bloomfield, Ohio, she was the daughter of Earnest B. and Rose (Williams) Nims.
Mrs. Kinghad worked as a clerk for the Osborne Clothing Store in Warren.
Survivors include her daughters, Gaynel Stern of Southington, and Patricia A. Banks of Cortland; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Private services were held Wednesday at Pine View Memorial Cemetery in Warren. Arrangements were handled by Borowski Funeral Home in Newton Falls.
Oliver H. Vayner Sr.
Services will be held at 8 tonight for Oliver H. Vayner Sr., 61, who died Tuesday at his home in Atwater. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 p.m. today, followed by services at Wood-Kortright Funeral Home, Atwater Chapel. Private inurnment services for the family will be held later at Atwater Cemetery.
