Nancy Imhoff
BRIMFIELD - Nancy Imhoff, 72, of Hanover Drive, died Thursday, May 10, 2001, at her residence.
Born Sept. 30, 1928, in Fairmont, W.Va., she was a daughter of Samuel and Willa (Hillberry) French.
She lived in Brimfield since 1990 and was formerly of Deerfield and Paris.
Mrs. Imhoff was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Newton Falls. She enjoyed sewing and crossword puzzles.
Survivors include her husband, Clarence E. Imhoff Sr., whom she married May 28, 1960; son, Clarence Jr. of Brimfield; daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Brenda) Spaller of Brimfield; five grandchildren; and sister Mrs. James (Bertie) Gump of Wayland. Sisters Bertha Newell and Marylin Batson died previously.
Calling hours will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the James Funeral Home, 8 E. Broad St., Newton Falls, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday. Burial will be at Deerfield Cemetery.
Michael Dean Johnson
Michael Dean Johnson, 18, of Champion, died Wednesday, May 9, 2001, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital as the result of injuries from an auto accident.
Born July 6, 1982, in Warren, he was the son of A.J. Johnson of Champion and Arlene A. (Crim) Henao of Tampa, Fla.
Formerly of Ocean Side, N.Y., he had lived in the Champion area the past year, where he attended Champion High School.
Mr. Johnson was of the Protestant faith. He enjoyed fishing, music, the outdoors and all sports.
Survivors include his parents; half brothers, A.J. Johnson and Harly Johnson, both of Champion; and grandmother, Mrs. Diana Crim of Braceville.
His maternal grandfather Arch D. Crim and paternal grandparents Jim and Mary Johnson died previously.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Borowski Memorial Home, 30 Ridge Road, Newton Falls. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Leavittsburg First Church of God, with the Rev. Thomas Gillum officiating. Burial will be at Braceville Cemetery.

Mary Frances Krempasky, 72
Mary Frances Krempasky, 72, of Hudson, died Sunday, May 6, 2001, at Geauga Regional Hospital in Claridon Township.
Born April 30, 1929, in Cullman, Ala., she was the daughter of William and Willie Jay (Turner) Howse. She had lived in Macedonia for 22 years before moving to Hudson in 1978.
Mrs. Krempasky was a seamstress at Fisher Body in Euclid for 10 years, from 1955 to 1965.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hudson, a 30-year member of Alcoholics Anonymous and a former member of Our Lady of Guadalupe and St. Barnabas Catholic Church, both in Macedonia. She also was a 40-year member of the First Catholic Slovak Union Branch No. 777 of Bedford.
She enjoyed gardening, growing roses and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Stephen L., whom she married Jan. 28, 1955; sons, Stephen Francis (Mary Scott) of Carlisle, Pa. and Lawrence "Larry" (Sharon Lynn) of Finleyville, Pa.; four grandchildren; and sisters, Nellie of Brookville, Fla. and Edith Self of Cullman, Ala. A brother, Alfred E. Howse; and stepmother, Trudy (Cobbs) Howse, died previously.
Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ritondaro Funeral Home, 126 South Street, Chardon. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Helen's Catholic Church in Newbury, with the Rev. Jay McPhillips officiating. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon.

Robert J. Hurley, 42
AURORA - Robert Jeffery Hurley, 42, died Sunday, May 6, 2001, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Interstate 76 in Brimfield.
Born Dec. 17, 1958, in Cleveland, he was the son of Paul and Phyllis (Campbell) Hurley. He had lived in Aurora most of his life.
Mr. Hurley was a truck driver for Dayton Freight in Kent.
Survivors include his son, Jeffery P. of Aurora; father, Paul of Nashville, Tenn.; mother, Phyllis of Aurora; brother, Chuck of Alexandria, Va.; and sisters, Patty Hendricks of Stow, Vicki Friscic of Mentor and Pamela of Los Angeles, Calif.
Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Shorts Funeral Home, Streetsboro Chapel, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Don Workman officiating. Burial will be in Aurora City Cemetery.

Wilma (Lower) Geiger, 81
Former Ravenna resident Wilma (Lower) Geiger, 81, of Cuyahoga Falls, died Saturday, May 5, 2001 at Briarwood Nursing Home in Stow.
Born Sept. 24, 1919, in Wadsworth, she was the daughter of Arthur and Olive (Kunkler) Stuver. A former Ravenna resident, she moved to Cuyahoga Falls in 1972.
Mrs. Geiger was a homemaker.
She was a member of First Mennonite Church in Wadsworth and the Cuyahoga Falls Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a long time volunteer in the emergency room at Akron City Hospital in Akron. She was an avid genealogist.
Survivors include her husband, Glenn, to whom she was married 25 years; daughter, Jill (David) Prehn of Hudson; stepsons, Gary Geiger of Naples, Fla. and Gene Geiger of Wadsworth; granddaughter, Victoria Prehn of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands; brother, Jerry Stuver of Kent; and sister, Doris Alderfer of Dallas, Texas. Her first husband, Herbert Lower, former president of Enduro Rubber Co. in Ravenna, to whom she was married 35 years, died previously. Her son, Jack Lower; grandson, Richard Prehn; and sisters, Faye Ebert and Donna Kane, also died previously.
Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Shorts Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. James Mohr officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Ravenna.

George J. Kofron, 98
Former Nelson resident George J. Kofron, 98, died Saturday, May 5, 2001.
Mr. Kofron lived in Nelson for 30 years before moving to Bedford.
Survivors include his daughters, JoAnne (Bob) Ponikvar and Karla (Robert) Collins; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and sister, Kathryn Weber. His wife, Mae (Ranc); son, George Jr.; and daughter, Alycemae Paul, died previously.
Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 tonight at Johnson-Romito Funeral Home, 521 Broadway, Bedford, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Bedford Cemetery.

Frank Linger, 80, of Kent, died Saturday, May 5, 2001 at Altercare of Ravenna.

Wendell T. Griffith
Wendell T. Griffith of Fort Myers, Fla., a former Portage County resident, died Saturday, April 7, 2001.
Born and reared in Wayland, he had lived in Columbus before moving to Florida.
Mr. Griffith was a charter member of Faith United Methodist Church in Fort Myers.
Survivors include his wife, Priscilla, to whom he was married nearly 63 years; son, Robert of Ashland, Ky.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Private services have been held. Harvey-Engelhardt-Metz Funeral Home in Fort Myers handled arrangements.

Ardith L. Haylett, 79
MANTUA - Ardith L. Haylett, 79, died Thursday, April 26, 2001, at Maple Wood Care Centre in Streetsboro.
Born July 7, 1921, in Bristolville, Ohio, she was a daughter of Fred and Myrtle Dunkerton.
She was a lifetime Mantua resident and was the owner-operator with her husband of Haylett's Foods in Mantua from 1945-1985. She was a member of the Hilltop Christian Church in Mantua and the American Legion Auxiliary of Mantua.
A 1939 graduate of Mantua High School, she was All-County clarinet player. A loer of music, she played both the organ and clarinet for most of her life.
Survivors inclue her husband, Arthur E. Haylett, whom she married on Nov. 7, 1941; son, David (Mary) of Mantua; daughter, Katherine (John) Ramsey of Hiram; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Herbert Dunkerton of Mantua; sister, Helen (Glen) Gilbert of Ravenna.
No calling hours will be held. A private funeral service will be held Monday with the Rev. Jeffrey Jackson officiating. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery in Mantua. Green's Funeral Home in Mantua is in charge of arrangements.

Arizona Elliott, 61
STREETSBORO - Arizona Elliott, 61, died Friday, April 27, 2001, at her home after a long illness.
Born Nov. 25, 1939, in Rowe, Va., she was the daughter of Benjamin and Edith (Street) Baldridge.
A former Ravenna resident, she moved to Streetsboro 32 years ago. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening and playing with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Robert F., to whom she had been married for 16 years; sons, Rocky (Bonnie) Davis of Streetsboro, Terry (Lynn) Davis of Twinsburg and Robert F. Jr. of Cuyahoga Falls; daughters, Reva (Bob) Johnson of Streetsboro, Tammy (Greg) Dostal of Streetsboro, Tina (Ken) Carrigo of Streetsboro, Rita (Jeff) Barber of Cuyahoga Falls and Sandy (Lyle) Marcum of Akron; 14 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; brothers, Bud (Pat) Baldridge of Cuyahoga Falls, Benny (Donna) Baldridge of Deerfield and Renny Baldridge of Akron; sisters, Brenda Hill of Akron, Midge (Ronnie) Dittmore of Ravenna and Kay of Akron. Her parents and sisters, Gail Landmaser and Sandy Baldridge, died previously.
Private calling hours and services will be held for the family with the Rev. Keith New officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Streetsboro. The Wood-Kortright Funeral Home in Ravenna is handling arrangements.
Robert L. Griffey
Services will be held tonight for Robert L. Griffey, 75, of Kent, who died Wednesday, April 25, 2001, at St. Thomas Hospital in Akron.
Born Nov. 9, 1925, in Richwood, W. Va., he was the son of W.D. and Carrie (Mollohan) Griffey. He lived in Ravenna before moving to Kent 20 years ago.
Mr. Griffey was retired from Evenflo Products in Ravenna after 17 years of service. He serviced the production line.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 496 of Kent.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Louise (Blake) Griffey; son, Robert Lloyd Griffey of Montana; daughters, Sabrina Deal (Mike Seifer) of Suffield, Becky (Larry) Carpenter of Cowen, W. Va.; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law Vickie Sayre; sisters; Barbara (Chuck) English of Kimbolton, Ohio, Bonnie (Jerry) Detrich of Rootstown and Patricia (Alan) Caplinger of Akron. A brother William Griffey and a sister, Geraldine Losh died previously.
Calling hours are from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Wood-Kortright Funeral Home, Kent Chapel where services will follow at 8 p.m. Friday with Rev. David Lanum officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Craigsville, W.Va., Cemetery.
Dessie Sara Bargerstock
Dessie Sara Bargerstock, 93, of Kittanning, Pa., died Thursday, April 26, 2001 at James Hospital in New Castle, Pa.
Born May 1, 1907, in Kittanning, she was the daughter of Harry and Hulda (Bowser) Jordan.
Mrs. Bargerstock was a homemaker.
She enjoyed quilting, hunting, fishing and traveling. She enjoyed doing mission work camps through her church in places like Brazil, Guatamala, the Cayman Islands and Panama.
Survivors include her son, Rodney of Anderson, Ind.; daughters, Twila Jean (Carl) Holm of Ravenna, Mary Louise (George) Freed of Emlenton, Pa. and Connie (Wayne) Steffey of Ocala, Fla.; and a brother, Edward Reighert of New Castle, Pa. Her husband, Roy A.; two brothers; and seven sisters died previously.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at the Kennedy & Blodgett Funeral Home in Kittanning, Pa. and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday at the Kittanning First Church of God, where services will immediately follow with Rev. Larry R. Messick officiating. Burial will be in Lawn Haven Burial Estates in Kittanning.

Clarice A. Eshelman
GARRETTSVILLE - Clarice A. Eshelman, 73, of 8171 Atwood Place, died Thursday, April 26, 2001 at her home after a long illness.
Born Sept. 30, 1928, in Ravenna, she was the daughter of Harold L. and Ruth E. (Whitney) Peppeard. A life resident of Garrettsville, she was a 1946 graduate of Shalersville High School.
Mrs. Eshelman was a stem painter for Polson Rubber Co. in Garrettsville for several years. She was employed with Deluxe Cleaners in Garrettsville, in maintenance, for 10 years.
She attended the United Church of Garrettsville.
She enjoyed gardening, sewing and reading.
Survivors include her husband, Martin J., whom she married May 26, 1951; daughters, Donna M. Brigham of Garrettsville, Deborah L. Grimm and Brenda S. Knight, both of Leavittsburg; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Gale E. Peppeard of Steubenville; and sisters, Mary Jo Conley and Barbara Sands, both of Windham, Delores Brannen and Katherine Peppeard, both of Ravenna, Diane Wiley of Steubensville and April Myer of Newton Falls. Her brothers, Edmond, Larry and James Peppeard, and sisters, Shirley Avery, Patricia Pickell and Judy Yenoulis, died previously.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no calling hours or services. Arrangements were handled by Borowski Funeral Home in Newton Falls.

Rosemary Hanichak
Rosemary Hanichak, 78, died Thursday, April 26, 2001.
Mrs. Hanichak was a native of Kent but had been a long-time resident of Cuyahoga Falls.
She was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish and had at one time been actively involved in the Altar and Rosary Society.
Survivors include her son, David (Terri) of South Bend, Ind.; daughters Rebecca Sue (Richard) Woodcock of Cuyahoga Falls, Kay (Curt) Porr of Pickerington, and Laura (Robert) Gregg of Chicago, Ill.; six grandchildren; and a brother, Jerome T. Linnen. Her husband, Albert, died in 1990. Her brothers Joseph, James and William Linnen and a sister, Nancy.
Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. tonight at the Dunn-Quigley Ciriello & Carr Falls Chapel. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Burial will be in Standing Rock Cemetery.

MANTUA - Ardith L. Haylett, 79, died Thursday, April 26, 2001 at Maplewood Care Center in Streetsboro.
Arrangements will be announced by Green's Funeral Home in Mantua.
Grace Marie White
Grace Marie White, 79, died Wednesday, April 25, 2001.
Born July 21, 1921 in Akron, she was the daughter of Romeo and Nelle Marie (Johnson) Holt.
Mrs. White was a memer of Summit Lapidary Club, Akron Gem and Mineral Society, Hudson Art in the Park and a lifetime member of the Order of Eastern Star. She was a board member of the Kent State University Senior Guest program, a former Girl Scout leader and had volunteered for the Children's Hospital Christmas Tree Program.
Survivors include her daughters, Susan (Dan) Snowberger of Stow, Donna Marie of Akron; daughter-in-law, Sally Ryan of Brimfield; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and sister Elah Hunter of California. Her husband, Donald, died in 1988. Her son David Ryan and sister, Joan Holt, died previously.
Calling hours will be held from 7 to 9 tonight at Redmon Funeral Home in Stow, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, with Scott Lambert officiating. Burial will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens.

Alice B. Russell
Former area resident Alice B. Russell, 85, of Youngstown, died Tuesday, April 10, 2001, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.
Born Oct. 8, 1915, in Youngstown, she was the daughter of Anthony and Agnes (Hauptman) Rudnesky. She had lived in the area most of her life.
Mrs. Russell was manager of the Portage County branch of the American Automobile Association for 24 years, retiring in 1975.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews. Her husband, Charles, died in 1978. Two brothers and four sisters died previously.
A memorial service was held April 16. Arrangements were handled by Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers.
