William Bauman, 81
EDINBURG Ð William C. Bauman Sr., 81, died Saturday at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna following a brief illness.
Born Aug. 5, 1919 in Tallmadge, he was the son of John and Catherine (Dishon) Bauman. He had lived in Edinburg for 25 years.
Mr. Bauman was a dairy farmer his entire life.
He was a member of the Portage County Farm Bureau and the Edinburg United Church.
Survivors include his wife, Katherine (Schopper), to whom he was married 53 years; sons, Michael (Barbara), and William Jr. both of Edinburg; daughters, Judy (Dick) Stephens of Findlay, Sandra (David) Gorham of Edinburg, and Donna (Derek) Fasig of Brimfield; nine grandchildren; and sister, Bertha Wiebelt of Florida. A twin brother, John; a brother, Robert; and sisters, Louise, Ruth and Dorothy, died previously.
A memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Edinburg United Church. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements were made by the Wood-Kortright Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel.

Ruth Scott, 85
Ruth E. Scott, 85, of Ravenna Township, died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000, at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna.
Born Nov. 18, 1914 in Ravenna, she was a daughter of Chester C. and Lois E. (Swartz) Bentley. She was a life resident of Ravenna.
Mrs. Scott was a homemaker.
She was a member of First Congregational Church of Ravenna and served 27 years as the church's financial secretary. She was a deaconess emeritus.
Survivors include her son, Richard (Jane) of Granville; daughters, Edith Scott of Ravenna and Joy (Joseph) Mazzola of North Carolina; two grandchildren; and sister, Ethel Copeland of Ravenna. Her husband, Sandy T., died in 1957. Her brother, Glenn Bentley, died previously.
Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Shorts Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at First Congregational Church of Ravenna, with the Rev. Jeffrey S. Frantz officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Ravenna.

Cecil Mullins, 68
Former Mantua resident Cecil Pat Mullins, 68, of Hilliard, Fla., died Friday, Aug. 25, 2000, at his home.
Born Dec. 17, 1931, in Clay, W.Va., he moved to Hilliard from Mantua 13 years ago.
He retired from Ford Motor Corporation plant in Walton Hills.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel L., to whom he was married 48 years; sons, Price C. (Betty) of Hilliard, Fla., Jeffrey A. (Tammie) of New Castle, Pa., and Pat B. of Mantua; daughters, Cecilia P. Swanson of Mantua, Nancy I. Lawson and Victoria L., both of Hilliard; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; mother, Pearl Virginia Love of Hilliard; and brother, Grover Lee (Linda), of Spring Lake, N.C. His father, Pat; sister, Evelyn; and brother, Luther, died previously.
A private funeral service will be held for the family. Green Pine Funeral Home and Cemetery in Yulee, Fla., is handling arrangements.
Sarah Carson, 80
Sarah E. Carson, 80, of Ravenna, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000, at Longmeadow Care Center in Ravenna.
Born Jan. 6, 1920, in Seward, Pa., she was the daughter of Cecil and Gertrude (Engler) Wagner. She was a longtime resident of Ravenna and Rootstown.
Mrs. Carson was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Leland of Placeville, Calif.; and sister, Eleanor Crites of Ellet. Her brother, Cecil Wagner, died previously.
The will be no local calling hours or services. Burial will be in White Rose Chapel in Glendale, Ariz. Local arrangements were handled by Shorts Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel.
Rosario D'Agostino
ROOTSTOWN - Rosario D'Agostino, 75, formerly of Kent, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000, at Longmeadow Care Center of Ravenna.
Born Sept. 29, 1924, in Locri, Calabria, Italy, he was the son of Joseph and Rosa (Varacalli) D'Agostino. He lived in Kent before moving to Rootstown six years ago.
Mr. D'Agostino was a weaver for Cleveland Wire and Cloth until he retired in 1983.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Ravenna.
He was an Italian Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Carmella (Polichena), to whom he was married 47 years; son, Joseph (Molly) of Fort Pierce, Fla.; daughter, Rosalind (Kenneth) Shaw of Rootstown; six grandchildren; brother, Patsy of Strongsville; and sister, Anna Salvaggio of Lyndhurst. His brothers, Rocco and Tony, and sister, Immeculata Reale, died previously.
Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Wood-Kortright Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church in Ravenna, with Msgr. Robert Sabatino officiating. Entombment will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery mausoleum in Ravenna.

Timothy Doolittle
Timothy Doolittle, 50, of West Grant Street, Kent, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000 at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna of cancer.
Born July 5, 1950 in Akron, he was the son of James Earl and Deloris E. (Humphrey) Doolittle.
Mr. Doolittle was a maintenance electrician at the Hudson Schools for 14 years.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Andy, to whom he was married 28 years; daughter, Dusty (Richard) Rieber of Akron; mother, Deloris of Kent; brothers, James (Linda) of Akron, Thomas (Kelli) of Ravenna, David (Robin) of Corpus Christi, Texas and Terry (Jiselle) of Washington; sisters, Darlene of Aurora, Donna of Houston, Diana (Wes) Rhodes of Kent, and Denise (Keith) Adler of Kent. His father, James, mother-in-law Lenore Eckler; niece, Angela; and grandparents died previously.
Calling hours will be held 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, with the Rev. Dr. Daniel Griggs officiating.

Margaret Veitch
Margaret Veitch, 84, of Saxe Road, Mogadore, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000, at Kent Healthcare Center.
Born Sept. 21, 1915 in Akron, she was the daughter of Rudolph and Jelen (Peiperski) Chudanov.
Mrs. Veitch was an avid rose gardener.
Survivors include her daughter, H. Allene (Adrian) Marko of Akron; granddaughter, Adrianne Leigh Marko of Akron; Rootstown; and sisters, Anne Hutton of Rootstown and Lily (Francis) Pahls of Charlestown Township. Her husband, Allan E.; daughter, Alice Faye; and brother, Ely (Margaret E.) Chudanov, died previously.
Calling hours will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, with Dr. George A. Hazlett officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Akron.
Frank S. Werschey
Frank S. Werschey, 70, of Newton Falls, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000, at St. Joseph Health Center following a heart attack.
Born May 6, 1930 in Lincoln, Ill., he was the son of Carl and Marie (Fiorse) Werschey. A life resident of Newton Falls, he graduated from Newton Falls High School and attended Kent State University for three years before the military.
Mr. Werschey was a system analyst at I.B.M.
He was a member of St. Joseph Church in Newton Falls and past president of the Data Processing Management Association.
A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War veteran, he was a member of American Legion Post No. 236 in Newton Falls.
Survivors include his wife, Regina "Jean" (Massuri), whom he married Jan. 26, 1957; son, Robert F. of Las Vegas, Nev.; daughter, Mrs. Ray (Linda) Bennight of Newton Falls; one grandchild; and brother, Carl Werschey of Newton Falls. A brothe and a sister died previously.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until services at 11 a.m. Thursday at Borowski Memorial Home in Newton Falls.
Robert Louis Goodyear
Robert Louis Goodyear, 87, of Zephyrhills, Fla., and Findlay, Ohio, who had relatives in Ravenna, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000, at Hospice House in Dade City, Fla.
Born April 2, 1913 in Bloomdale, Ohio, he was the son of Adlophus and Grace (Shimmin) Goodyear. He was a former resident of Fostoria, Ohio, near Findlay.
Mr. Goodyear worked with N&W Railroad until he retired in 1974.
He was a member of Fostoria Wesley Methodist Church, Scottish Rite Valley of Toledo 32nd Degree Mason, Zenobia Shrine Temple and Fostoria Shrine Club, and a 52-year member of Fostoria Masonic Bodies.
He was Past Master of Fostoria Chapter 288 F&AM and Council 90 of Royal and Select Masons, Past High Priest of Garfield Chapter of Royal Arch Masons, Past Commander of Fostoria Commandery of Knights Templar, Past Patron of Fostoria Chapter 94 OES and Past President of Fostoria Mausoleum Society. He received honorary Highest Degree from DeMalay.
Survivors include his wife, Donita Corbin Dietelbach, whom he had married June 9, 1988, in Fostoria; stepsons, Fredrick, Robert, David, Raymond, Timothy and Tony Dietelbach, all of Findlay, Michael Dietelbach of Lutz, Fla., and Richard Dietelbach of Zephyrhills, Fla.; 17 step-grandchildren; and nine great-step-grandchildren. His first wife, Mildred Hartley Sahs; stepson, John Dietelbach; stepdaughter, Donavee Vosburgh; sister, Mary Goodyear; and brothers, Adolph and Thomas, died previously.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.

John Bradford Holt
Former Portage County resident John Bradford Holt, 81, of South Bloomingville, Ohio, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000, at his home.
Born Jan, 21, 1919 in Cleveland, he was the son of John W. and Gertrude L. (Walton) Holt. He lived in Portage County for part of his life.
Mr. Holt attended Cornell University and graduated from Case Western Reserve University in 1951 with a degree in engineering administration.
Throughout his varied career, he maintained a love of trains. In the 1940s, he and a friend bought a narrow-gauge steam engine No. 8, which ran on the Bridgeton & Harrison Railroad in Maine. They sold the engine to the Edaville Railroad in Massachusetts, and it now sits in the Maine Narrow Gauge Museum in Portland.
Mr. Holt was an active volunteer on the Hocking Scenic Railroad after he and his wife moved to Hocking Hill, Ohio, in 1986.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, He served in the 758th Railway Shop Battalion from 1943 to 1946, spending two of those years in India.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Logan, Ohio.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara, to whom he was married 50 years; sons, Gregory (Marianne) of North Olmsted and Jonathan (Anna Marie) of Maple Heights; daughter, Mrs. Gary (Stephanie) Larson of Lyndhurst; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church in Logan, Ohio. Visitation will follow in the Westminster House of the church. Arrangements are being handled by Heinlein-Brown Funeral Hone, 204 W. Main St., Logan.

George E. "Joe" Pasko
George E. "Joe" Pasko, 66, of Mantua died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000, at his home after a brief illness.
Born Sept. 18, 1933, in Pittsburgh, Pa., he was a son of Nicholas and Mary (Kovacs) Pasko. He lived in Mantua for 31 years.
He was employed as a supervisor at Ethel-Nymold in Mantua for 32 years and then at Enjex in Twinsburg for five years.
He was a past member of the Mantua Knights of Columbus and he was active for many years in the Mantua Boy Scout Troop 575. He enjoyed bowling and flying kites and spending time with his family. He was a U.S. Army Korean serving in Korea.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jean (Krepley) Pasko; five children including sons, John (Michelle) of Mooresville, N.C.; and James (Shelly) of Mantua; a daughter, Linda (Mark) McGinnis of Shalersville; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Steve and William Pasko of Pittsburgh; seven sisters, Ann Toth of Philadelphia and Mary Gaydas, Helen Britton, Julie Pasko, Jean Olson, Pauline Phillips and Marge Ireland, all of Pittsburgh. His parents and a brother, Michael, preceded him in death.
Calling hours are 6-9 p.m. today at the Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home in Garrettsville. Services wll be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Garrettsville with Rev. Richard Pentelo officiating. Burial is in Calvary Cemetery in Pittsburgh at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
Fred J. Daum
Fred J. Daum, 51, of Bartlett, Texas, died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2000, as a result of injuries sustained in a one-car crash near Georgetown, Texas.
Born Nov. 12, 1948, in Seaman, he was the son of Fred and Myrl (Shupert) Daum. He had lived in Yorktown, Va. before moving to Bartlett.
Mr. Daum attended Kent State University, the Florida Institute of Technology and the Naval War College.
He retired in 1998 from the U.S. Army, achieving the rank of Lt. Colonel. He served in Germany, Korea, Japan and Vietnam, earning two Army Commendation Medals, a Meritorious Service Medal and the Legion of Merit.
Mr. Daum was the owner of All Tune and Lube in Killeen, Tx., which he opened following his retirement from the military.
Survivors include his wife, Janet (Peters), formerly of Hiram; twin children, Fred John II and Rachel Elizabeth, both of Bartlett, Texas; and his mother, of Williamsburg, Va.
There will be no calling hours. A graveside funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Aug. 17 at Fairview Cemetery in Hiram, with the Rev. Thomas Niccolls officiating, where full military honors will be observed.
Arrangements are being handled by Green's Funeral Home in Mantua.

Jeffery L. Densmore
Jeffery L. Densmore, 33, of Cuyahoga Falls died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, at his home of natural causes. He lived in Cuyahoga Falls for five years and is formerly of Indiana and Hudson.
Born April 25, 1966, in Ravenna, he was the son of Lawrence and Barbara S. (Reid) Densmore.
He worked in sales at the Mattress Warehouse in Fairlawn and formerly owned and operated a comic book store in Indiana.
He is survived by his brother, Marke of Monroe Falls; a step-bother, Ron Staggers of Ravenna; a sister Laura Densmore of Canton; his father and step-mother, Larry and Mary Densmore of Streetsboro; and a grandfather, John Reid of Streetsboro. His mother preceded him in death.
Calling hours are 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the Shorts Funeral Home, Streetsboro Chapel. The funeral is at 11 a.m. Saturday. He will be buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Streetsboro.

Anna Geiger
Anna Geiger, 75, of Elliot, formerly of Randolph, died of cancer Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000, at St. Thomas Hospital in Cuyahoga Falls.
She was born Apr. 15, 1925 in Czechoslavakia and came to the United States in 1960. She lived in Randolph for more than 30 years before moving to the Akron area several years ago.
Mrs. Geiger was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Henry, to whom she was married for 39 years; brothers-in-law, Conrad and Phillip, both of Randolph and John of Ewington, Oh.; and sisters-in-law, Barbara of Randolph and Liz of Akron.
Cremation has taken place. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the home of Conrad Geiger, 787 Hartville Road, Randolph.
Doris Earley
Doris Earley, 78, of Sun City Center, Fl., died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000, at South Bay Hospital in Tampa.
She was born in Cleveland and had worked as a librarian.
Survivors include a son, Daniel of Hiram; a daughter, Debby of Sun City Center; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
