Betty Davis
Betty M. Davis, 71, of Braun Road, Belpre, Ohio , a former Aurora resident, died Tuesday at home.
Born in West Virginia, she was the daughter of Maude and Gladys (Ruble) Chapman. She graduated from John Adams High School in Cleveland.
Mrs. Davis worked at Pick and Pay in Cleveland.
She was a member of Streetsboro Church of God and attended the 19th Street Church of God in Parkersburg, W.Va.
Survivors include sons, Kenneth G. of Parkersburg, W.Va., and Meredith E. of Sevierville, Tenn; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and sister, Patty Rankin of Cleveland. Her husband, Mostyn A., died in 1995. A daughter, Evelyn Ann, brother, Robert Chapman, and sister, Juanita Estes, died previously.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Ogdin-Kimes Funeral Home in Parkersburg, where services will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday. Additional services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Streetsboro Church of God. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Bedford Heights.
Buryl Ables
Buryl Ralph Ables, 65, of Wheeling, W.Va., died Sunday in Akron City Hospital. He resided at Wyant Wood Nursing Home, Fairlawn.
Survivors include his sons, David, James and Fred, all of New Jersey; daughters, Charlotte Wrobleskwi of Germany and Deborah Nissim of New Jersey; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Harold of Ohio and Dayton of West Virginia; and sisters, Mary Strader of West Virginia and Bonnie Pravdick of Florida,

Thomas Golias
SHALERSVILLE Thomas Golias, 76, of Infirmary Road, died Tuesday at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna.
Services will be announced by Green's Funeral Home in Mantua.
Albert Kump
Albert W. Kump, 78, of Creston, Ohio, a Portage County native, died Tuesday at his home after a seven-month illness.
Born Nov. 20, 1919 in Randolph, he was the son of Harold G. and Helen (Stewart) Kump. He was a graduate of Atwater High School and Ohio State University.
Mr. Kump retired in 1989 from General Clay Products in Wadsworth.
He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
He was a member of Creston Presbyterian Church, Sandy Valley Masonic Lodge No. 408 in Hanoverton; May Chapter No. 217 Order of the Eastern Star in Seville; Scottish Rite, Valley of Canton; and American Legion Post No. 497 in Creston.
Survivors include his wife, Jean (Bricker), whom he married Aug. 5, 1944; son, James W. (Anita) of Brooklyn Heights, N.Y.; one grandchild; brothers, Wilfred "Bill" of Ft. Pierce, Fla., and Harold L. of Minerva; and sister, Ruth Gamoran of Sebring. A daughter, Barbara Joyce, died in 1956. A brother, Frank, and sisters, Emma Evans and Mary Kump, also died previously.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Murray Funeral Home, 173 S. Main St. in Creston, where Eastern Star services will be held at 8:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. at Creston Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. James McCurdy officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Jackson Cemetery.

Edith Milkon
Edith I. Milkon, 82, formerly of Robinwood Blvd., Newton Falls, died Monday at St. Joseph Health Center in Warren.
Born Jan. 8, 1916 in Piney Fork, Ohio, she was the daughter of Joseph and Pia (Farrari) Polazzi.
Mrs. Milkon attended St. Joseph Church in Newton Falls. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda Schmitt of Warren; son Anthony of Champion; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sisters, Angeline Siemion of Detroit, Mich., and Mary Cicone of Steubenville. Her husband, Anthony, died Dec. 24, 1980. A brother, Joseph, and sister, Bruna, also died previously.
Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 tonight at Borowski Funeral Home in Newton Falls, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Newton Falls Cemetery.

Mary Rumbaugh
Mary K. Rumbaugh of Allison Park, Pa., died Monday in Irvine, Calif.
Survivors include her son, Alan of Grand Rapids, Mich.; daughter, Kathleen Rayl of Irvine, Calif.; brother, Albert "Skip" Howell of Greensburg, Pa.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Her husband, Harry E., died previously.

Hilda Patterson
Hilda A. Patterson, 68, of Kent died Monday.
Born Jan. 2, 1930 in Akron, she was the daughter of Lorenzo and Rose (Sunseri) Comeione.
Mrs. Patterson worked as a cook for six years at the Acme store in Kent.
Survivors include her sons Larry J. (Diane) Nathaniel of Streetsboro and Raymon Patterson of Marion; daughter, Mrs. Dwight (Judy) Willochell of Akron; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers Joseph (Shirley) Comeione of California, John (Ann) Comeione and Anthony (Ruth) Comeione, all of Akron; sister, Mrs. Ralph (JoAnn) Adkins of Kent; and daughter-in-law, Jill Reitz. Her husband, Raymond C., and brothers Frank D. Comeione and Alfanso Cameione, died previously.

Margaret Suchy
STREETSBORO - Margaret A. Suchy, 82, died Monday at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna after a short illness.
Born Jan. 5, 1916 in Shamokin, Pa., she was the daughter of Ignatious and Anna (Antol) Sabol. A former Akron resident, she had lived in Streetsboro since 1978.
Mrs. Suchy worked as an assembler with the Lemco Co. in Maple Heights.
She was a member of St. Joan of Arc Church in Streetsboro and its Altar and Rosary Society.
Survivors include her sons, Dennis of Streetsboro and Stephen of Chicago; three grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Her husband, John, and a sister died previously.
Calling hours will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Shorts Funeral Home, Streetsboro Chapel. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joan of Arc Church in Streetsboro, with the Rev. Frederick Slaven officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Streetsboro.

Jeon Yup Yoo
STREETSBORO Jeon Yup Yoo, 84, died Tuesday.
Born May 11, 1913 in Seoul, Korea, she came to the United States in April. She lived with her son, Sang Yoo of Streetsboro.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include six sons, a daughter, and 13 grandchildren.
Private services will be held for the family. Wood-Kortright Funeral Home, Kent Chapel, is handling arrangements.
Helger Forsman
Former Kent resident Helger "Hal" L. Forsman, 81, of Port Richey, Fla., who had owned H&L Machine in Kent, died Thursday at his home.
He was born in Minneapolis, Minn, and moved to Port Richey from Indian River, Mich. 11 years ago.
Mr. Forsman had been a member of the Rockton Massonic Temple in Kent, the Tadmor Shrine Temple in Akron and the New Port Richey Shrine Club.
Survivors include his wife, Betty J.; sons, Peter D. of Hermosa Beach, Calif. and Robert of Laguna Niguel, Calif.; daughters, Christine Stanley of Appleton, Wisc. and Jill of Kent; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
There will be no services and cremation will take place. Arrangements were made by Michels and Lundquist Funeral Home in New Port Richey, Fla.
Marie "Betty" Rider
HIRAM - Marie E. "Betty" Rider, 84, of Hiram, died Wednesday at Altercare of Ravenna.
Born Nov. 15, 1913, in Cleveland, she was the daughter of John and Mary (Kozlowski) Svoboda. A Hiram resident for the past four years, she formerly lived in Florida and Michigan.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed reading.
Survivors include a son, Kenneth of LaCombe, La.; daughter, Mrs. Donald (Barbara) Pereces of Hiram; brother, John Svoboda of Streetsboro; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Her husband, Thomas A., died in 1966. Her brother, George Svoboda, and sister, Pat Sacha, also died previously.
A private burial has been held. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
Arrangements are being handled by Green's Funeral Home in Mantua.

MANTUA - Gus C. Grano, 79, died today at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna. Services will be announced by Green's Funeral Home in Mantua.

Charles Gless, 86, of Ravenna died Thursday. Arrangements to be announced by the Wood-Kortright Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel.
Stanley Bliss
Stanley K. Bliss, 78, of Garrett Street, Kent, died Thursday at his home.
Born July 18, 1919, in Boston, Mass., he was the son of Walter K. and Bertha (Brighty) Bliss.
Mr. Bliss was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II who served with the 730th Ordinance Company in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. He was a retired electrician from Kent State University.
Survivors include his wife, Rose E. (Riggs), whom he married Nov. 17, 1945; sons, Clifford of Ravenna and Ronald and Roger of Campbell, Calif.; daughter, Claudia of Amenia, NY; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Donald of Delanco, N.J.; sisters, Lorraine Gruner of Captain Cook, Hawaii, Phyllis Collins of Beverly, Mass. and Priscilla Colarusso of Winthrop, Mass. His brothers, Robert and Allison, and great-granddaughter, Amanda, died previously.

Carolyne E. Weasner, 86
GARRETTSVILLE - Carolyne E. (Carpenter) Weasner, 86, of Garrettsville, died Sunday at the Napa Nursing Center in Napa, Calif, after a lengthy illness.She was born Aug. 29, 1911 in Wellington, Ohio.
Mrs. Weasner was a graduate of Garrettsville High School who worked with her husband for 42 years on their dairy farm. She was a girl scout leader for 13 years in the Garrettsville area and was a Record-Courier correspondent for many years.
She was formerly a member of the James A. Garfield Board of Education, and served as a librarian at James A. Garfield High School for 10 years before becoming a librarian and archivist at Hiram College.
She moved to California in 1977 and traveled to more than 135 countries, recording her experiences for talks she would later give for local groups.
She was a volunteer in the Hospice of Marlin County, several historical societies and local schools and libraries. She also helped found the Glen Ellen Historical Society and helped plan and open an historical museum in Glen Ellen in May 1996.
Survivors include daughters, Mrs. Ray (Ruth) Sheehan of Garrettsville and Mrs. Michael (Grace) Jones of Napa; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brothers, Mert and William, both of Florida; and sister, Iris Morphew of North Carolina. Her husband, Fred ("Fritz"), whom she married May 23, 1932, died Nov. 29, 1974. Brothers Chauncey, James and Albert ("Derb"), and a sister, Jane, also died previously.
Cremation has taken place. Arrangements are being handled by Green's Funeral Home in Mantua.
Memorials may be made to either the Glen Ellen Historical Society, the Hospice of Marlin County or a charity of the donor's choice.
Carl Kostal
Carl Kostal, 97, of Ravenna, died Wednesday.
Bon Feb. 24, 1900, in Czechoslovakia, he was the son of Anton and Josephine (Valek) Kostal. He had been a Ravenna area resident since 1965 and was formerly of Cleveland.
Mr. Kostal was a retired tool and die maker.
He was a member of the Knights of Pythias of Cleveland.
Survivors include six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Bertha Kostal of Ravenna; and sister, Josephine Burmeister of Macedonia. His wife, Elsie; son, Vladimer "Laddie"; and brother, Frank, died previously.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until services at 11 a.m. Friday at Shorts Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel, with the Rev. Thomas Poremba officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Ravenna.
Wesley Bise Jr.
Wesley L. Bise Jr., 76, of Ravenna, died Tuesday in Kissimmee, Fla.
Born July 23, 1921 in Rices Landing, Pa., he was the son of Wesley L. and Dalia (McLaughlin) Bise.
Survivors include his wife, Eluend L. (Owens); son, Wesley L. (Sherry) Bise III of Ravenna; daughters, Mrs. Donald (Gayle) O'Brien of Las Vegas, Nev., Mrs. Pete (Mardell) Greathouse of Streetsboro, Mrs. Jeffrey (Janet) Petrick of Garfield Heights and Mrs. Jim (Phyllis) Reynolds of Rockcreek, Ohio; 15 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. His sister, Esther Snyder, died previously.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Johnson Romito Funeral Home in Twinsburg where services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery in Twinsburg.
John Coltman
MANTUA - John B. Coltman, 72, died Wednesday at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna.
Born Feb. 3, 1925 in Ravenna, he was the son of John and Clara (Dobson) Coltman. He was a lifetime Mantua-Shalersville area resident.
Mr. Coltman worked as a bobinwinder for 18 years at the Eaton Corporation in Mantua until he retired in 1987. Prior to that he had worked for 20 years at Chase Bag in Chagrin Falls.
An avid hunter, he raised and sold beagle puppies and farmed at his home and in the Mantua-Shalersville area. He was also an avid fisherman and loved to garden. He was a member of the Mantua Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Flora (Pot) ; son, John D. of Mantua; daughters, Mrs. Charles A. (Rose) Dale of Troy Township, and Mrs. Kevin (Diane) Burke of Mantua; five grandchildren; and brother Thomas D. of Williamsfield. His brother Ralph died previously.
Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Green's Funeral Home in Mantua where services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Murray Bay officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in Shalersville.
Pauline Michael
Pauline Katherine Michael, 75, a former resident of Streetsboro, died Jan. 1 in Palm Bay, Fla.
Born Feb. 16, 1922 in Crucible, Pa., she was the daughter of Michael and Anna Kroftcheck Pribula.
Mrs. Michael and her husband operated Michael's Lounge on S.R. 43 in Streetsboro and other businesses for more than 20 years before retiring to Florida in 1978.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Michael, of Palm Bay, Fla.; daughter, Maryann (William) Square of St. Louis; sons, Charles (Lindy) Michael, Jr. of Royal Palm Beach, Fla., and Robert (Joanne) Michael of Palm Bay, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and sister, Helen Barnish of Crucible, Pa. Four brothers died previously.
Burial will be in Palm Bay, Fla.

HIRAM - Marie E. Rider, 84, died Wednesday at Altercare of Ravenna.
