Gearold D. Allen
Gearold Dean Allen, 88, of Dayton, died unexpectedly Saturday, Jan. 2, at his home.
Born July 26, 1910, in Allen County, Ohio, he was the son of Hansen and Viola (Shock) Allen. He resided in Preble County for several years, then moved to Dayton where he was employed by DP&L until his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine (Favenger) Allen, in 1986.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Robert Smith of Winchester, Ky.; a sister, Goldie Webb of Camden; two nieces, Betty Rucker of Oxford and Carol Rader of Camden.
Funeral services were Wednesday, Jan. 6, at Terrebinski Funeral Home, Tipp City.

Pamela J. Hawley
Pamela J. Hawley, 45, of 119 N. Main St., Lewisburg, died Thursday, Jan. 14, at Hospice of Dayton after an extended illness.
Born Aug. 19, 1953, in Montgomery, Ala., she was the daughter of Jarrell and Peggy (Troxel) Osborne.
Survivors include her soul mate, Robert DeBoo of Lewisburg; two sons, Scott Hawley and Michael Hawley, both of Clayton; a daughter, Robin Nuse of Lewisburg; two granddaughters, Madison and Ellie Nuse of Lewisburg; her former husband, Michael Hawley Sr. of Clayton.
Also surviving are her stepmother, Sally Osborne of Beavercreek; three brothers, Jeff Osborne of West Milton, Jack Leet of Beavercreek and John Leet of Middletown; three sisters, Lynn Aunspaw of Miamisburg, Lori VanTine of Pleasant Hill and Diane Leet of Tipp City; and an aunt, Geneva Gray of Beavercreek.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, at Barnes Funeral Home-Lewisburg Chapel, 411 N. Commerce St., with Lynn Schlobig officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton.

Gayle E. Gullion
Gayle E. "Buzz" Gullion, 76, of Eaton (Lakengren), died Friday, Jan. 15, at Heartland of Eaton. He was a former resident of Ft. Wayne and Yorktown, Ind.
Born Oct. 11, 1922, in North Platte, Neb., he was the son of Everett J. and Bessie (Eggers) Gullion, and had lived in Preble County since 1980. He was a retired project sales manager for Hughes Bechtol Heating and Ventilating in Dayton. Mr. Gullion was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a member of Sugar Valley United Methodist Church, Lakengren Dragons, Lakengren bridge, euchre and pinochle clubs, and was a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie J. (Arnold) Gullion, whom he married Dec. 15, 1945; a daughter, Sherrie L. Lewis of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; his mother, Bessie Eggers of North Platte, Neb.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Don and Ray Gullion of North Platte, Neb.; sisters, Irene McNeal of North Platte, Neb., and Bonnie Benningfield of Indianapolis, Ind.; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Everett J. Gullion; sons, Dennis and Gary Gullion; and a brother, Glen Gullion.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Jan. 19, at Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Funeral Home, Eaton, with the Rev. Jean S. Holmes officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m.-noon on Wednesday, Jan. 20, at D.O. McComb & Sons-Maplewood Funeral Home, Ft. Wayne, Ind. Graveside services will follow, with the Rev. Herman Surber officiating, in River View Cemetery, Ft. Wayne, Ind.
Memorial contributions may be made to Sugar Valley United Methodist Church, 3022 Camden-Sugar Valley Road, Eaton, Ohio 45320; or to the Lakengren Dragons, 210 Norwegian Drive, Eaton, Ohio 45320.

Carl A. White
Carl A. White, 69, formerly of Concord Road, Eaton, died Saturday morning, Jan. 16, at Carlisle Manor Nursing Home in Franklin after an extended illness.
Born Jan. 22, 1929, in Patriot, Ind., he had been a Dixon Township (Preble County) farmer. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953.
Survivors include his wife, Marian (Schaefer) White; two sons, Roy White of Columbus and Thomas White of Hayes, Kan.; and a daughter, Tammy White of Eaton.
He was preceded in death by a son, Gary L. White, in October 1977.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, at Barnes Funeral Home-Eaton Chapel, 220 E. Main St., with the Rev. Daniel E. Snider officiating. Burial will be in Mound Hill Union Cemetery, Eaton.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Fund -- Preble County Unit.

Mina Lamm
Mina Lamm, 91, of Eaton, died Saturday, Jan. 16, at Heartland of Eaton.
Born June 27, 1907, in Lafayette, Ind., she was the daughter of Herman and Pearl (Cadwalter) Kesson. She married Chester A. Lamm on April 19, 1924.
Survivors include two daughters, Norma Long of Mansfield and Bernice (Gean) Harris of Fairfield; one son, John Lamm of Eaton; eight grandchildren, Linda Smithberger, Kevin Long, David Doans, Rick Doans, Cathy Ditmeyer, Douglas Harris, Gregory Harris and Marylin Partlow.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and a daughter, Dorothy.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family at R.C. Nein & Sons-Thompson Funeral Home, Camden. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery, Camden.

Gilbert Robertson
Gilbert Robertson, 83, died Monday, Jan. 18, at Woodland Country Manor near Somerville.
Born July 25, 1915, in Tejes, Ky., he was the son of Hugh and Minerva (Abner) Robertson. He was employed by the Second National Bank and by the Hamilton Journal for many years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, and a member of the Camden Church of God.
Survivors include his wife, Ellen (Depew) Robertson, whom he married Nov. 18, 1939, in Hamilton; three sons and daughters-in-law, Preston and Victoria Robertson of Jacksonburg, Gilbert Jr. and Beverly Robertson of Camden, David and Debbie Robertson of Hamilton; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, Preston Robertson of Tejes, Ky.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John Robertson; and two sisters, Lulie Allen and Rose Walker.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, at R.C. Nein & Sons-Thompson Funeral Home, 249 N. Main St., Camden, with the Rev. Marvin Hocker officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Butler County Memorial Park near Trenton.

N. Elizabeth Landis
N. Elizabeth Landis, 88, of 45 W. Main St., Phillipsburg, died Monday afternoon, Jan. 18, at the home of her care giver, Barbara Ryan.
Born April 11, 1910, in Covington, Ohio, she was the daughter of Jesse W. and Nellie C. (Hill) Ditmer. Mrs. Landis had lived most of her life in Darke, Miami and Montgomery counties. She was a member of the First United Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Ted H. Landis, in 1984; a son, Gale Landis, in 1987; a son-in-law, Jim Harshbarger, in 1996; a sister, Loretta Oden, in 1998; and a brother, Robert Ditmer, in 1998.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Ted R. Sr. and Thelma Landis of Brookville; two daughters and son-in-law, E. Joan and Gerald Huffman of Brookville and Ruth Harshbarger of Lexington, S.C.; a sister, June Deeter of Troy; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, at Barnes Funeral Home-Lewisburg Chapel, 411 N. Commerce St., with the Rev. Russell Kimmerly officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Clayton Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of the Miami Valley.

C. Harold Kitson
C. Harold Kitson, 83, of Eaton, died Wednesday, Jan. 6, at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Ind.
Born June 25, 1915, in Pleasant Hill, Ohio, he was the son of the late Martin W. and Clara C. (Buckingham) Kitson, and had lived in Preble County since 1930. He was a retired factory worker from NCR, a retired custodian from the Eaton schools, and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Kitson was a member of The Church of Christ, Eaton, where he served as a board member, elder and deacon; was a charter member of the Eaton Optimist Club and was Optimist of the Year in 1983. He was a former board member of the Preble County Council on Aging, and was a volunteer driver for meals and doctor appointments.
In 1984, he and his wife received the Outstanding Citizen Award from the Preble County Council on Aging.
Survivors include a two daughters and son-in-law, Kay Carey of Sabina, Ohio, andCarol and Bernie Bondanza of West Seneca, N.Y.; a son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Cheryl Kitson of Westerville, Ohio; seven grandchildren and spouses, Rhonda and Robb Horn, Kristi Carey, Heather and Don Roy, Shannon Kitson, Joshua Fruhlinger, Leslie and Steve Spach, Errin and Chris Kallay.
Also surviving are five step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Thelma Crane of New Paris; a brother, Max Kitson of Gainesville, Fla.; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby May (Kennedy) Kitson, on March 5, 1998; brothers, Lester Kitson, Lowell Kitson and Don Kitson; and two sisters, Ethel Wright and an infant sister.
Funeral services were Sunday, Jan. 10, at The Church of Christ, with the Rev. Jeff Hill officiating. Burial was in Mound Hill Union Cemetery, Eaton. Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Funeral Home, Eaton, was in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Church of Christ Memorial Fund, 725 U.S. 35 West, Eaton, Ohio 45320.

Jasper R. Sorrell
Jasper R. Sorrell, 81, of 120 N. 20th St., Richmond, Ind., died Thursday, Jan. 7, at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Ind. He was a former resident of Eaton.
Born June 9, 1917, in Dillsboro, Ind., he was the son of the late Marion and Delphia (Wells) Sorrell, and had lived in Eaton most of his life. He was a retired Preble County farmer, had retired from Richmond Block Company in Richmond, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Norma Sorrell of Richmond, Ind.; a daughter and son-in-law, Dixie and George Cremeans of El Paso, Texas; a stepson and daughter-in-law, Forrest and Norma Jones of Bedford, Texas; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Audrey Stevens of Atlanta, Ga.; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn L. (Wolfe) Sorrell, on May 23, 1998; and four brothers, Cecil Sorrell, Roy Sorrell, Chester Sorrell and Willis Sorrell.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15, at Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Funeral Home, 226 W. Main St., Eaton, with the Rev. Raymond E. Rothwell officiating. The family will receive friends from 3-6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairhaven Cemetery.

Lowell C. Hobbs
Lowell C. Hobbs, 83, of 2001 U.S. 27 South, Richmond, Ind., died Thursday, Jan. 7, at Reid Hospital.
Born May 9, 1915, in Franklin County, Ind., he was the son of Charles Tracey and Laura (Gwinnup) Hobbs and had lived in Richmond since 1958. He retired from Parker Hannifin Corp. in Eaton in 1980. Mr. Hobbs was a member of Central Christian Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Betty L. Major of Cambridge City, Ind., Sharon J. Smith of Elkhart, Ind., and Patricia S. Gard of Richmond, Ind.; three sons, Stanley L. Hobbs and Paul E. Hobbs, both of Richmond, Ind., and Donald L. Hobbs of Fort Wayne, Ind.; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances V. Hobbs, in 1995; a sister, Mae A. Ryan; a brother, Roy V. Hobbs; and a great-grandson, Forest Andrew Hobbs.
Funeral services were Sunday, Jan. 10, at Central Christian Church, Richmond, Ind., with the Rev. Sky Allen and the Rev. John P. Wilson officiating. Burial was in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Doan & Mills Funeral Home, Richmond, Ind., was in charge of arrangements.
