Kayla M. Fields
Kayla Marie Fields, infant daughter of Danielle Jeanne Fields of Eaton and Brian Gambrell, was stillborn on Friday, Jan. 29, at Franciscan Medical Center, Dayton.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by a brother, Kyle Matthew Henry Fields, at home; maternal grandparents, Danny and Susan Fields of Eaton; paternal grandparents, Robert Gambrell of Dayton and Barbara Rogers of Gratis; paternal great-grandparents, Bert and Madeline Fields of Eaton; and an aunt, Yolanda Fields of Eaton.
She was preceded in death by an uncle, Millard Dean Fields.
Funeral services were Monday, Feb. 1, at Barnes Funeral Home-Preble Memory Gardens Chapel, West Alexandria, with Pastor Lowell Spencer officiating. Burial was in Preble Memory Gardens, West Alexandria.
Edwood Harrison
Edwood "Bud" Harrison, 73, of Holtzmuller Road, West Manchester, died Thursday morning, Jan. 28, at his home after an extended illness.
Born April 2, 1925 in Cincinnati, he was the son of Elder O. and Evlyn A. (Ross) Harrison. He was a 30-year Chrysler retiree, a member of Price's Creek Church of the Brethren, a charter member of the Little Turtles Camping Club and Slo-Downers Camping Club, and a former member of the Eldorado Fire Department.
He was preceded in death by three sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Grace E. (Root) Harrison; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Gary Root of West Manchester, Sandra and Thomas Williams of Port Orange, Fla.; a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Rhonda Harrison of Brookville; two sisters, Peggy Pettit of Dupont, Ind., and Rose Busby of Texas; six grandchildren, Andreana Brown, Jason Smith, Kevin and Kelly Williams, Brandon and Justin Harrison; and two great-granddaughters, Ashlee and Cailee Brown.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Feb. 2, at Price's Creek Church of the Brethren, West Manchester, with the Rev. Dean Garrett officiating. Burial was in Monroe Cemetery. Bussard-Barnes-Vaniman Funeral Home, Eldorado, was in charge of arrangements.

Clifford B. Marler
Clifford B. Marler, 74, of West Alexandria, died Monday, Feb. 1, at his home.
Born Sept. 8, 1924, in Dayton, Tenn., he was the son of the late Haskel and Addie (Cauldwell) Marler. He had lived in Preble County since 1976. Mr. Marler retired in 1985 from GM Inland Division after 11 1/2 years of service. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in World War II and Korea, and was a member of the First Baptist Church in New Lebanon.
He was preceded in death by six brothers and five sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Anita W. (Bell) Marler; a son, Clifford B. Marler Jr. of Ripley; three daughters and son-in-law, Sharon and Robert Bierlein of Beavercreek, Regina Marler of Dayton and Saundra Dowell of Springboro; two brothers, Ben Marler and George Marler, both of Tennessee; a sister, Clara Camp of Tennessee; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, at Barnes Funeral Home-Preble Memory Gardens Chapel, 3377 U.S. 35, West Alexandria, with the Rev. James Whorton officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Preble Memory Gardens, West Alexandria.

John H. Cole
John H. "Jay" Cole, 75, of West Alexandria, died Wednesday, Feb. 10, at his home.
Born Sept. 26, 1923, in McKee, Ky., he was the son of Elige and Gracie (Hundley) Cole. He had retired from RTA after 15 years, was a self-employed barber for many years and had worked at Art's Barber Shop for the last 20 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of James E. Ryan Post #322 American Legion in West Alexandria and a member of Faith Chapel Church in Farmersville.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Faye; two sons and daughters-in-law, Doug and Diane Cole of Eaton, Dennis and Leah Cole of West Alexandria; two daughters and sons-in-law, Marlene and Doug Crouse, Cheryl and Phil Nolan, all of West Alexandria; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Rudy Cole of Lewisburg, Ben Cole of West Alexandria and Robert Cole of Dayton; and a sister, Marie Staggs of Orlando, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Nicholas Cole; and a sister, Wanda Cole.
Funeral services were Friday, Feb. 12, at Faith Chapel in Farmersville, with the Rev. Tod J. Smith officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, West Alexandria. Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home, West Alexandria, was in charge of arrangements.
Hazel W. Combs
Hazel W. Combs, 91, formerly of Verona, died Monday, Feb. 8, at Maria Joseph Care Center in Dayton.
Born Jan. 1, 1908, in Louisa, Ky., she was the daughter of Thomas Lee and Nancy Elizabeth (Vance) Wright. She moved to Ohio in 1974. Mrs. Combs was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lewisburg.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Combs, in 1969; sons, John, Charles and Paul Combs; and a daughter, Ruth Hoffa.
Survivors include a son, Kenneth E. Combs of Verona; two brothers, Reese Wright of Ashland, Ky., and Emmerson Wright of Jacksonville, Fla.; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Thursday, Feb. 11, at Barnes Funeral Home-Lewisburg Chapel, with the Rev. George Pennington officiating. Graveside services were in Greenlawn Cemetery, Louisa, Ky., on Friday, Feb. 12.
Virginia S. Shilt
Virginia S. Shilt, 98, of Wilmington, Del., died Monday, Feb. 8, at Shipley Manor Nursing Home in Wilmington, Del., after an extended illness.
Born May 10, 1900, in Doddridge County, W. Va., she was the daughter of Johnson B. and Genevra (Bee) Smith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Noble C. Shilt, in 1992; a daughter, Betty Jane Shilt, in 1984; brothers and sisters.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Esther A. Mitchell of Dayton; nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were Thursday, Feb. 11, at Ithaca Cemetery in Darke County. Barnes Funeral Home-Eaton Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
Donald K. Clark
Donald K. Clark, 58, of Nancy, Ky., died unexpectedly Thursday, Feb. 11, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
Born Oct. 25, 1940, in Eaton, he was the son of Forrest W. and Ida M. (Henne) Clark. He retired in 1995 from General Motors in Vandalia, and was a school bus driver for the Pulaski County (Ky.) Board of Education. He was a member of Eagles Lodge #2202 in Eaton.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley A. Clark; his mother, Ida Clark of Eaton; sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffery and Paula Clark of Covington, Tenn., John and Rebecca Clark of Nancy, Ky.; stepson and wife, Jason and Heather Shrout of the U.S. Navy; stepdaughter and husband, Jeanette and Chris Thacker of Christiansburg, Ohio.
Also surviving are brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert W. and LaDonna Clark of West Alexandria, Kenneth E. and Carol Clark of Eaton; sister and brother-in-law, Marcella M. and William Bond of Webster, Ind.; four grandchildren, Anthony, Jessica, Aaron and Ronnie Clark; one uncle and two aunts.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Feb. 16, at Barnes Funeral Home-Eaton Chapel, with the Rev. Greg A. Hyre officiating. Burial was in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, Tipp City.

Hazel M. Hartman
Hazel M. Hartman, 78, of Camden, died Thursday, Feb. 11, at Oxford View Nursing Home in Oxford.
Born Aug. 9, 1920, in Preble County, she was the daughter of Sherman and Bertha Heckman. She retired from Baxter Glove in Eaton after 16 years. Mrs. Hartman was a member of the Brethren Church of Camden.
Survivors include her husband, Lewis Hartman, whom she married May 18, 1947, in Covington, Ky.; two daughters, Dianna Hartman of Fairfield and Donna Riddell of Eaton; two sons, Tom Hartman of Camden and Jim Hartman of Oxford; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Lloyd Heckman; and two sisters, Ethel Rader and Evelyn Gabbard.
Funeral services were Monday, Feb. 15, at R.C. Nein & Sons-Thompson Funeral Home, Camden, with the Rev. Fred Hill officiating. Burial was in Fairmount Cemetery, Camden.
Phyllis E. Hyatt
Phyllis E. "Polly" Hyatt, 63, of Ohio 503, Lewisburg, died Thursday afternoon, Feb. 11, at her home after an extended illness.
Born Jan. 15, 1936, in Brookville, she was the daughter of Wesley M. and Elizabeth (Moody) Strausbaugh. She had been a resident of the Lewisburg area since 1972, and was a member of the United Commercial Travelers Ladies Club of Dayton.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Joann Highley, in 1989; and a brother, John Strausbaugh, in 1997.
Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Paul D. Hyatt; daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Randy Miller of Lewisburg, Jean and Paul Gardner of Mowrystown, Ohio; a son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Paula Hyatt of Brookville; a brother, Richard Strausbaugh of Dayton; five grandchildren, Erica and Elizabeth Gardner, Danielle, Cassandra and Christina Hyatt; and a lifelong friend, Wilda Eversole of Dayton.
Funeral services were Monday, Feb. 15, at Barnes Funeral Home-Lewisburg Chapel, with the Rev. Mike Millard officiating. Burial was in Forrest Hills Cemetery, Tipp City.

Gerald E. White
Gerald E. "Whitey" White, 79, of Richmond, Ind., died Friday, Feb. 12, at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Ind.
Born Aug. 13, 1919, in Center Township, Wayne County, Ind., he was the son of Elbert E. and Esther (Dunn) White. He had worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad, Wayne Dairy, and retired in 1982 from Johnson Sheet Metal in Richmond. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, a member of the Northside Church of Christ in Richmond, and a member of the Circus Fans Association of America.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Pauline (Thornburg) White; sons and daughters-in-law, Gerald E. and Mildred White of Arley, Ala., David O. and Lynn White of New Paris; a brother, Leon White of Albany, Ind.; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, at Barnes Funeral Home-New Paris Chapel, 109 W. Main St., with the Rev. Dale Canull officiating. Burial will be in College Corner Cemetery, College Corner, Ind.
Gladys M. Craig
Gladys Mae Craig, 72, formerly of New Paris, died Friday, Feb. 12, at Heritage Regency in Richmond, Ind.
Born Feb. 13, 1926, in Kokomo, Ind., she was the daughter of Boston and Martha (Phillips) Shelton. She had lived in New Paris for the past 25 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Craig, in 1998; and a sister, Ethel Hudson, in 1959.
Survivors include her father, Boston Shelton of Richmond, Ind.; daughters, Wanda Gabbard of Richmond, Ind., and daughter Marie; stepdaughter, Carol Ann Downing of Fayetteville, N.C.; stepson, Robert J. Craig of State College, Pa.; brothers, Lonnie Shelton of Rochester, Ind., Robert Shelton, Bentley Shelton and Harold Shelton, all of Richmond, Ind.; sisters, Louise Mellinger of Middleville, Mich., Shirley Hazelwander and Stella Davis, both of Richmond, Ind.; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; one aunt; nieces, nephews and cousins.
