Geneve C. Rust
Geneve C. Rust, 87, formerly of Preble and Darke counties, died Friday, Feb. 12, at The Brethren's Home in Greenville.
Born Sept. 23, 1911, in Eaton, she was the daughter of the late Melvin and Hannah (Deaton) Rust. She was a member of the Eaton Church of the Brethren.
Survivors include four sisters, Fern Brestel of Mason, Louise Blickenstaff of Greenville, Margaret Ann Jestice of Lebanon and Maxine Ashbaugh of Richmond, Ind.; nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Dr. Cecil F. Rust and the Rev. Glenn C. Rust.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, at Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Funeral Home, 226 W. Main St., Eaton, with the Rev. Greg A. Hyre officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mound Hill Union Cemetery, Eaton.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at The Brethren's Home.
F. Marie Welch
F. Marie Dees Welch, 87, of 215 W. High St., Liberty, Ind., died Friday morning, Feb. 12, at Hillcrest Estates Nursing Home in Liberty.
Born Feb. 26, 1911, in Wayne County, Ind., she was the daughter of Thomas J.T. and Nellie (Hoover) Adams. She had lived most of her life in Union County, Ind. During World War II, she worked at Crosleys and at Brocks Grocery in Liberty, Ind., as a clerk. She was a cook at the Liberty Restaurant and at Park Manor Nursing Home. Mrs. Welch was a member of Rebekah Lodge in Liberty, Ind.
Survivors include her husband, Glen Welch; a son, Raymond L. Dees of Eaton; two daughters, Mary F. Morgan and Edna Mae Marling, both of Liberty, Ind.; a half brother, Jessie Adams of Penntown, Ind.; a sister, Catherine Albers of Hollansburg; a half sister, Patricia Seale of Greensburg, Ind.; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Homer Dees, in 1974; her parents; a sister, Ruby Vietor; three half brothers; and two half sisters.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Feb. 16, at Showalter-Blackwell-Long Funeral Home, Baker-Fosdick Chapel, Liberty, Ind., with Pastor Nancy Nelson officiating. Burial was in West Point Cemetery, Liberty, Ind.

Earl Martin
Earl Martin, 72, of 205 Harrison St., Liberty, Ind., died Saturday morning, Feb. 13, at Fayette Memorial Hospital in Connersville, Ind.
Born Aug. 12, 1926, in Clay County, Ky., he was the son of Levi and Fannie (Rogers) Martin. He had lived in the Union County area for 50 years and prior to that in Kentucky. He retired from the U.S. Army in 1986 as a sergeant first class. Mr. Martin was a member of American Legion Post #122 and VFW Post #1472, both of Liberty, Ind.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth (Sizemore) Martin, whom he married May 5, 1962, in Connersville, Ind.; a son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Diane Martin of Liberty, Ind.; a daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Jeff Baker of Morning Sun; three stepdaughters and son-in-law, Shirley Cook of Hamilton, Avon Purtlebaugh of Liberty, Ind., Joan and Wayne Beshears of West Alexandria.
Also surviving are two brothers, Forrester Martin of Connersville, Ind., and Tommy Martin of Oxford; four sisters, Lily Bowling of Oneida, Ky., Flossie Barger of Berea, Ky., Cora Abner of Hamilton and Cola Buttree of Oxford; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Marvin Martin; and two brothers, Festus Martin and Elbert Martin.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 18, at Showalter-Blackwell-Long Funeral Home, Baker-Fosdick Chapel, Liberty, Ind. The Rev. Jessie Martin, cousin of the deceased, of Brutus, Ky., will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, at the funeral home. Burial will be in West Point Cemetery, Liberty, Ind., with military graveside rites by the American Legion Post and VFW Post of Liberty, Ind.

Geloria G. Grimme
Geloria G. Grimme, 53, of Gratis, died Sunday morning, Feb. 14, at her home.
Born April 27, 1945, in West Liberty, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Beecher and Kathleen (Bishop) Patrick. She worked 16 years as a rural route carrier for the Middletown Journal newspaper. Mrs. Grimme was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gratis; and a member of OES Chapter 433 of Camden, having served as worthy matron in 1976.
Survivors include her husband of 34 years, Keith E. Grimme; a daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Craig Brandt of Gratis; a son, Kevin Grimme, at home; grandchildren, Amber and Justin Brandt; brothers and sisters-in-law, Roger and Frances Patrick of Gratis, Rex and Marilyn Patrick of Germantown, Ronald and Judy Patrick of Holiday Island, Ark.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, at Barnes Funeral Home-Preble Memory Gardens Chapel, 3377 U.S. 35, West Alexandria, with the Rev. Hearon Carmack officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Gratis.

Roland Bloom
A memorial service for Roland Bloom, 72, of Evans, Ga., who died Friday, Feb. 5, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, at Arlington United Methodist Church, Brookville. The Rev. Joseph Payne will officiate.
Mr. Bloom was a native of Brookville and a graduate of Brookville High School. He had attended Ohio State University and Miami Jacobs College. He was a retired business owner in Sterling Heights, Mich., and had been supervisor of Public Finance Corp. in Ohio, Michigan and Indiana for 25 years.
Mr. Bloom was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II. He was a member of Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church in Augusta, Ga.
Survivors include his wife, Betty; a daughter, Jennifer of Marietta, Ga.; three brothers, Kenneth Bloom of Upland, Calif., Charles Bloom of Marion and Chester Bloom of Brookville; and three sisters, Miriam Miller of Lincoln, Neb., Evelyn Bowser and Margaret Hartman, both of Lewisburg.

Dorothy E. Barnett
Dorothy E. Barnett, 63, of Lewisburg, died Sunday, Feb. 14, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton.
Born Oct. 22, 1935, in Middlesboro, Ky., she was the daughter of Isam and Nellie (Fultz) Lambert.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Lambert.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Earl E. Barnett; daughters and sons-in-law, J'Wanda and Brian Sprague of Rush, Ky., Geron L. and Bob Long of Lewisburg, Regina D. and Kipp Galbraith of West Chester, Vicky L. and Gregg Schutte of Union.
Also surviving are brothers and sister-in-law, Don Lambert of Fort Knox, Ky., Kenneth and Mattie Lambert of Melbourne, Fla.; sister and brother-in-law, Bernice and Bill Bowman of West Carrollton; grandchildren, Mark, Seth and Robin Boyer, John Day, Eric Long, Angela and husband Ryan Shoe, Tyler and Troy Galbraith, Jeffrey Smith and Taylor Ison.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, at Barnes Funeral Home-Lewisburg Chapel, 411 N. Commerce St., with the Rev. George Pennington officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery, Lewisburg.

R. Alden Weaver
R. Alden Weaver, 82, of Lewisburg, died Monday, Feb. 15, at his home.
Born July 24, 1916, in Verona, he was the son of Daniel and Ada (Frazee) Weaver. He was a 1934 graduate of Lewisburg Union High School; and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in China, Burma, India from 1942-1946.
Mr. Weaver retired in 1988 as a farm owner/operator, and had showed hogs for over 50 years at the Ohio State Fair. He served as a Harrison Township Trustee from 1970-1990, was a past member of the Preble County Fair Board, and a member of the State of Ohio Duroc Association.
He was a member of VFW Post 975, American Legion Post at Lewisburg, Lewisburg Lions Club, Trinity Lutheran Church of Lewisburg, and was a 65-year member of Twin Valley Grange.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret Ann Weaver, in 1951.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Helen I. (Millikin) Weaver; daughter and son-in-law, Susan A. and Mark Grady of Brookville; a brother, Glenn Weaver of Lewisburg; and grandchildren, Kristen and Emily Grady.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 18, at Barnes Funeral Home-Lewisburg Chapel, 411 N. Commerce St., with the Rev. James N. Lehman officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, at the funeral home. Burial, with military honors, will be held in Roselawn Cemetery, Lewisburg.

Margery I. Wentzell
Margery I. Wentzell, 66, of 1004 N. Barron St., Eaton, died Monday, Feb. 15, at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Ind., after an extended illness.
A native and lifelong resident of Preble County, she was born Aug. 30, 1932, the daughter of Glenn and Mildred (Ferris) Cohee. She was real estate manager for Wentzell Realty, Inc. of Eaton, and had been a Dayton newspaper counselor from 1964 to 1974. She was a member of the Eaton Church of Christ, Dayton Area Board of Realtors and Preble County Republican Women.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, W. Stephen Wentzell; a son and daughter-in-law, Steve Jr. and Janice Wentzell of Eaton; daughters and son-in-law, Lisa Wion of Piqua, Terri and David Wilson of Eaton; two sisters, Carolyn Graham of Eaton and Doris Shepherd of Columbus, Ind.; a brother, Wilbur Ferris of Gratis; seven grandchildren, Michelle Davis, Stacy, Adam and Tara Wentzell, Doug Crowe, Christopher Lott and Natalte Wion; and one great-grandchild, Breonna Gayhart.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 18, at the Church of Christ, 725 U.S. 35 West, Eaton, with the Rev. Jeff Hill officiating. Burial will be in Mound Hill Union Cemetery, Eaton. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, at Barnes Funeral Home-Eaton Chapel, 220 E. Main St., and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.

Berlin E. Garwood
Berlin E. "Bud" Garwood, 77, of Lewisburg, died Monday, Feb. 15, at Grandview Hospital in Dayton after a two-month illness.
Born May 6, 1921, in Pyrmont, he was the son of the late Rollie J. and Armilda (Bailey) Garwood, and had lived in Lewisburg most of his life. He was a graduate of Lewisburg High School, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and retired in 1986 from Baxter Travenol Corp., Eaton, after 19 years. He was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Survivors include three sons, Tom A. Garwood and Gordon D. Garwood, both of Lewisburg, and Jack Garwood of Arcanum; one daughter, Mildred L. McKee of Eaton; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris L. (Shafer) Garwood, on Aug. 19, 1987; a daughter, Carol Garwood; two brothers, Robert Garwood and Joy Garwood; and a sister, Muriel Mehaffey.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18, at Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Funeral Home, 226 W. Main St., Eaton, with Charles E. Shank officiating. Family and friends may call one hour prior to services on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pyrmont Cemetery.

Norene C. Crowe
Norene C. Crowe, 83, of Vandalia, died Monday, Feb. 15, at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.
Born Aug. 14, 1915, in White Hall, Ky., she was the daughter of Anderson and Ella (Young) Collins.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Arthur, Wilfred, Lucion and Marcus Collins; and a sister, Victoria Blankenship.
Survivors include a son, Russell L. Crowe of Huber Heights; a daughter, Judy Opp of Vandalia; sisters, Lucinda Fraley and Jean Walker, both of Lewisburg, Davis Lakes of Dayton and Mary Potts of Wayne Lakes; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18, at Roselawn Cemetery, Lewisburg, with Linda Davis officiating. Barnes Funeral Home-Lewisburg Chapel, 411 N. Commerce St., is in charge of arrangements.
