Mabel R. Shrack
Mabel R. Shrack, 93, of Eaton, died Sunday, June 13, at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Ind.
A native and lifelong resident of Preble County, she was born May 11, 1906, the daughter of the late Milton T. and Anna M. (Hoffman) Oswalt. She was the retired owner of Shrack's Specialty Shop in Eaton, and a member of the Eaton United Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Shrack, on Feb. 8, 1968.
Survivors include a nephew, Stanley Coning of Eaton; two nieces, Doris Mae Stephens of Dayton and Patricia Carter of Berea, Ohio; and a special friend, Suzanne Wehrly of Eaton.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 17, at Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Funeral Home, Eaton, with the Rev. James W. Whitley officiating. Burial will be in Sugar Grove Cemetery, West Alexandria. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 16, at the funeral home, 226 W. Main St., Eaton.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Eaton Emergency Squad, to the Preble County Cancer Society, or to the Eaton United Church of Christ.
Pauline M. Booher
Pauline Mae Booher, 67, of U.S. 35, West Alexandria, died Sunday, June 13, at Wayne Hospital in Greenville.
Born Aug. 14, 1931, in Montgomery County, she was the daughter of Orville G. and Emanett (Caylor) Noffsinger. She had lived in the Arcanum area most of her life, prior to moving to Preble County in April.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy "Don" Booher, in 1991; and a sister, Lois Jean Purvis, in 1998.
Survivors include her father, Orville G. Noffsinger of Troy; two daughters and son-in-law, Cindy Ellen Bussing of Richmond, Ind., Cori Lee and Tony Clarke of West Alexandria; a brother, Harold Noffsinger of Troy; and grandchildren, Staci M. and Calli R. Bussing.
Funeral services were Tuesday, June 15, at Barnes Funeral Home-Eaton Chapel, followed by burial in Sunset Memory Gardens, Greenville.

Harold L. Connerley
Harold L. Connerley, 82, of Eaton, formerly of Marshall, Ind., died Sunday, June 13, at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Ind.
Born Nov. 4, 1916, in Marshall, Ind., he was the son of Laton and Marie (Stockdale) Connerley. He was a retired farmer and school bus driver, and formerly owned and operated Connerley's Farm Welding. He was a member of the Marshall Federated Church; and Bloomingdale Lodge #127, F&AM.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Kathleen (Busenbark) Connerley, whom he married Sept. 10, 1944, in Rockville, Ind.; two sons, James Joseph Connerley of Marion, Iowa, and William Edward Connerley of Eaton; a daughter, Charlotte Kay Zulkowski of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 17, at Marshall Federated Church, Marshall, Ind., with the Rev. Don Perry officiating. Burial will be in Poplar Grove Cemetery there. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 16, at Rice Funeral Home, Marshall, Ind., where Masonic memorial services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m.

B. Loree Christman
B. Loree Christman, 95, of Eaton, died Monday, June 14, at Lewisburg.
Born July 30, 1903, in New Paris, she was the daughter of the late M.W. and Elizabeth (Morningstar) Marshall, and had lived in Preble County most of her life.
She was a 1922 graduate of Monroe High School and attended Miami University. She later taught at Monroe-Fairhaven and Campbellstown schools. Mrs. Christman was matron of the Preble County Children's Home for five years and matron at the Cincinnati Children's Home for two years. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the Eaton Camera Club.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Joyce Christman of Eaton; a grandson, Kent Christman of Danville, Calif.; a granddaughter, Kimberlee Kleshock of Cincinnati; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Charlotte Lincoln of Eaton; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh G. Christman, on Sept. 11, 1993; and a sister, Alma Sittloh.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 18, at Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Funeral Home, 226 W. Main St., Eaton, with the Rev. James Lehman officiating. Burial will be in Mound Hill Union Cemetery, Eaton. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services on Friday at the funeral home.

Estrid B. Welsh
Estrid (Bloom) Welsh, 78, of Desert Hot Springs, Calif., formerly of Eaton, died Saturday, June 12, at her home.
Born March 9, 1921, in Springfield, she was the daughter of John and Vonnie Bloom. She had been employed as a clerk in the Perrysburg (Ohio) Municipal Court, and retired in 1978. She was a member of Palm Springs Presbyterian Church and the Perrysburg Methodist Church in Perrysburg.
She married William M. Welsh on May 28, 1942, in Eaton, and he preceded her in death in 1983.
Survivors include three daughters, Susan J. Gilders of Bowling Green, Lynne E. Cordova of Santa Clara, Calif., Carol A. Amendola of Santa Rosa, Calif.; a son, William J. Welsh of Salt Lake City, Utah; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Memorial services will be held in Perrysburg, Ohio, and in November at Sky Valley Park, Calif. Burial will be in Union Hill Cemetery, Bowling Green, Ohio.

Susan M. Zarecky
Susan (Mittlestadter) Zarecky, 54, of Middletown, died Saturday, June 12, at Middletown Hospital.
Born April 3, 1945, in Dayton, she was the daughter of Bayman and Evelyn Mittlestadter. She had worked the last 10 years for Poff Plastics in Monroe.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gregory T. Zarecky, in 1993; and her father, in 1960.
Survivors include a daughter, Misty Zarecky of Middletown; two sons and daughter-in-law, Gregory Zarecky of Middletown, Michael and Tara Zarecky of Carlisle; four grandchildren, Dustin, Thomas, Gage and Anthony; a sister, Deborah Norman of Camden; a brother and sister-in-law, David and Eileen Middestetter of Oakwood; her mother and stepfather, Evelyn and Robert Leas of Eaton.
Funeral services were Tuesday, June 15, at Breitenback Funeral Home, Middletown, followed by burial in Woodside Cemetery, Middletown.
Bette M. Thompson
Bette M. Thompson, 78, of Dayton, died Monday morning, June 14, at Hospice of Dayton.
Born Oct. 9, 1920, in Dayton, she was the daughter of Jay and Hazel (Smith) Thompson. She was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, having served in the European Theater. She had worked for over 30 years in the accounting office at Delco Air/General Motors.
Mrs. Thompson was a member of American Legion Post #215 of Eaton; Beavercreek VFW Post #8312, the Inland Retirees' Club, and was a 25-year member of the White Shrine of Jerusalem.
Survivors include a sister, Neveda Tipton of Eaton; a brother, James Thompson of Beavercreek; a nephew, Wayne Tipton of Eaton; a niece, Connie Christian of Camden; two great-nieces, Christina Tipton of Eaton and Jessica Christian of Camden; a great-nephew, Andrew Tipton of Eaton; several other nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside serves were at Woodside Cemetery, Middletown, with the Rev. Thomas Mellott officiating. American Legion Post #218 Color Guard provided military honors.
Margaret R. Helsley
Margaret Ruth Helsley, 60, of Somerville, died Tuesday, June 15.
Born Dec. 14, 1938, in Sparta, Ky., she was the daughter of William P. and Hazel (Wheeler) Newton. She was a member of Women of the Moose Chapter 183 in Middletown, Camden American Legion #377 and the Ladies Auxiliary of Eagles #528 of Middletown.
She married Charles Young on Feb. 20, 1954, in Liberty, Ind., and four daughters were born to the couple. She later married Lester Helsley in Somerville.
Survivors include her daughters, Carol (Jerry) Mason of Middletown, Ruth Ann (Denny) Felblinger, Betty (Troy) Wagers, Teresa Osborne and Ronnie Abrams, all of Somerville; her mother, Hazel Newton of Somerville; two brothers, Eugene Newton of Somerville and Earl (Ruby) Newton of Louisville, Ky.; a sister, Mary Rich of Somerville; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father on Nov. 11, 1986.
Funeral services were Saturday, June 19, at R.C. Nein & Sons-Thompson Funeral Home, Camden, with Pastor James Mullins officiating. Burial was in Somerville Cemetery, Somerville.
Dorothy M. Broderick
Dorothy M. (Nichols) Broderick, 70, of New Paris, died Tuesday, June 15, at her home.
Born May 4, 1929, in Richmond, Ind., she was the daughter of Russell and Ida (Houser) Miles. She was a member, past president and treasurer of the American Legion Auxiliary in New Paris.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Dale Broderick, in 1984.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Mona and Richard Venton of Richmond, Ind.; a stepson and wife, John C. and Teresa Broderick of New Paris; a sister, Myra E. Combs of Richmond, Ind.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were Friday, June 18, at Barnes Funeral Home-New Paris Chapel, with the Rev. Wayne D. Morrison officiating. Burial was in Springlawn Cemetery, New Paris.

Leo A. Wilt
Leo A. Wilt, 79, formerly of Eldorado, died early Friday morning, June 18, at the Brethren's Home in Greenville, where he had resided for the past three years.
Born Jan. 16, 1920, in Darke County, he was the son of Roy Edward and Dola Frances (McDowell) Wilt. On June 28, 1941, he married Frances L. Fletcher, who preceded him in death on Dec. 30, 1992. They were residents of Eldorado for over 50 years.
Mr. Wilt was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II, having served in several foreign countries. He worked for over 35 years with Sunbeam Bakery, Eldorado. Following his retirement, he was employed at Truck Stops of America near Eaton. He was a member of the VFW and DAV of Greenville.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ed Wilt; and three sisters, Merlie Eubank, Hallie Petry and Helen Woodall.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Wilt of Eldorado, Connie Boyer and husband David of New Paris; two sons, Edward Wilt and wife Pam of Eaton, and Terry Wilt of Dayton; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Wanda Williamson and Blanche Bright, both of Greenville.
Funeral services were Tuesday, June 22, at Bussard-Barnes-Vaniman Funeral Home, Eldorado, with Pastors Mary Sue Rosenberger and Michael Hodson officiating. Burial was in Greenmound Cemetery, New Madison.
