Pauline L. Schweigert
Pauline L. Schweigert, 77, of Bullhead City, Ariz., died Wednesday, June 23. She was a former resident of the Brookville and Eaton areas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence "Bud" Schweigert; her mother, Ethel Howdieshell; and a sister, Helen Mullennix.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Sondra Schweigert; two granddaughters; one grandson; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Miriam Shade of Eaton and Neva Burchfield of Brookville; and a sister-in-law, Juanita Shields of Richmond, Ind.
Burial was in Desert Lawn Memorial Gardens, Mohave Valley, Ariz.
Artis Combs
Artis Combs, 70, of Clarksville, Ohio, died unexpectedly Thursday afternoon, July 8, at Clinton Memorial Hospital in Wilmington.
Born April 12, 1929, in Hazard, Ky., he was the son of Robert and Parriett (Campbell) Combs. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and was a roofing contractor. He moved to Clarksville in 1988 from Xenia.
He was preceded in death by a son, Kenny Ray Combs, in 1982
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Velma (Miller) Combs; a son, David Combs of Clarksville; three daughters, Theresa Lawwill, Patty Borton and Sandy Beverly, all of Xenia; three brothers, William Combs and Andrew Combs, both of Eaton, and Earl Combs of Morrow; four sisters, Rebecca Wright of Tennessee, Ora Bennett of Wilmington, Carolyn Rodeffer of Florida and Norma Evans of Waynesville; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Sunday, July 11, at Barnes Funeral Home-Preble Memory Gardens Chapel, West Alexandria, with the Rev. Dave Damron officiating. Burial was in Preble Memory Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Fund.
Ruth M. McKown
Ruth (Marshall) McKown, 73, of Lewisburg, died Saturday, July 10, at Hospice of Dayton.
She was a member of the Salem Church of the Brethren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ward E. Marshall Jr.; her parents, Cory and Mary Ida Gross; a grandson, Ryan Marshall; and a brother, Robert Gross.
Survivors include daughters and a son-in-law, Martha and Gary Acton, Dorothy and Bob Prestel, all of Verona, Mary and Ed Ditmer, Jennifer and Shawn Williams, all of Lewisburg; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Lynn Marshall of Douglasville, Ga.; sisters, Nellie Huff of Trotwood and Marjorie Hahme of Lakeview, Ohio; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 14, at Gilbert-Fellers Funeral Home, Brookville, with Pastors Larry Tyner and Alvin Cook officiating. Entombment will be in Royal Oak Mausoleum near Brookville. The family will receive friends from noon-2 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton, or to the Lewisburg Emergency Unit. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
Robert E. Emerick
Robert E. Emerick, 57, formerly of Eaton and St. Louis, Mo., died Wednesday, June 23, at Willow Creek Nursing Center in Belleville, Ill., after an extended illness.
He was a public accountant. He served eight and one-half years in the U.S. Air Force and during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion.
Survivors include his parents, James and Betty Emerick of Clearwater, Fla.
Military graveside services and burial were in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
Freda M. Robinson
Freda M. Robinson, of West Alexandria, died Thursday evening, July 8, at Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus after a short illness.
She was born in Clinchport, Va. and had lived in Montgomery and Preble counties most of her life. She was a 1963 graduate of Dixie High School and in 1982 received a BS in education at Miami University.
Mrs. Robinson was a former third grade teacher at Twin Valley Schools; former owner and operator of St. Clair Academy in Eaton and Citgo Express in West Alexandria. She was a member of Eastern Star at Farmersville and Alpha Kappa Sorority of West Alexandria.
Survivors include her husband of 36 years, Gary R. Robinson; two sons, Gary R. Robinson II of West Alexandria and Joel A. Robinson of Lewisburg; grandsons, Gary O. Robinson III and Bradley Robinson; parents, Fred O. and Emma (Willis) Jenkins of Lewisburg; grandmother, Bertha Willis of Clinchport, Va.
Also surviving are her aunt, Elsie Lamb of Thomasville, Ga.; father-and mother-in-law, Charles and Gladys Robinson of Brookville; sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Bill Bowman, and brother- and sister-in-law, Denver and Maxine Robinson, all of New Lebanon; four nephews, Kevin and Jeff Bowman, Greg and Paul Robinson.
Funeral services were Tuesday, July 13, at Barnes Funeral Home-Preble Memory Gardens Chapel, West Alexandria, with the Rev. Kenneth Tye officiating. Burial was in Sugar Grove Cemetery near West Alexandria. Eastern Star conducted memorial services Monday evening at the funeral home.

Walter H. Crowell
Walter H. Crowell, 86, formerly of Camden, died Friday, July 9, at Harborside Healthcare in New Lebanon after an extended illness.
Born Dec. 18, 1912, in Preble County, he was the son of Mathew and Almeda (Harris) Crowell. He was a retired Preble County farmer.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dorsie Crowell, in 1980, and Leonard Crowell, in 1976.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Mary E. (Lincoln) Crowell; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Douglas R. Kruse of Lewisburg; a brother, Lawrence Crowell of New Carlisle; a grandson, Matthew Blankenship of Arcanum; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Tuesday, July 13, at Barnes Funeral Home-Lewisburg Chapel, with the Rev. James Lehman officiating. Burial was in Sugar Grove Cemetery near West Alexandria.

Wayne L. Moore
Wayne Lewis Moore, 65, of 609 S. 8th St., Richmond, Ind., died Saturday, July 10, at his home.
A native and lifelong resident of Richmond, Ind., he was born July 9, 1934, the son of Clarence and Kate (Houser) Moore. He had been a minor league pitcher for the Detroit Tigers, and retired from Eaton Tire in 1998 where he was manager.
Survivors include his wife, Rita L. (Stevens) Moore; five daughters, Diane Rose of Webster, Ind., Kristi Moore of Cincinnati, Rita Brandyberry of Piqua, Lori Christian and Robin Brown, both of Richmond, Ind.; two sons, Ronnie Moore of Richmond, Ind. and Mark Moore of Troy.
Also surviving are two sisters, Louise Long and JoEllen Moore, both of Richmond, Ind.; one brother, Robert Moore of Cambridge City, Ind.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Watt; and a brother, Paul Moore.
Funeral services were Tuesday, July 13, at Jones-Klute-Lamb Funeral Home, Richmond, Ind., with the Rev. Michael Holman officiating. Burial was in Goshen Cemetery, Richmond, Ind.
Harold J. Banfill
Harold J. Banfill, 78, of Englewood, died Saturday, July 10.
He owned and operated Banfill Plastering for over 40 years, having performed many major renovations of such facilities as the Victoria Theater, the State Capitol Building, Montgomery County Courthouse and many other projects. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
Mr. Banfill was a member of Trotwood Masonic Lodge #755, Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton and the Antioch Temple.
Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Betty L. (Williams) Banfill; daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Fred Collins of Romeo, Mich., Judy and Allen Campion, Terry and David Hartman, all of Lewisburg; sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Shirley Banfill of Clayton, Mark and Heather Banfill of Centerville; 16 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell L. and Amelia (Zeitz) Banfill; and a brother, Paul H. Banfill.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 14, at Kindred Funeral Home, 400 Union Blvd., Englewood, with the Rev. Dick Robbins officiating. Burial will be in Royal Oak Memorial Gardens near Brookville.

Nora V. Robinson
Nora Viola Robinson, 75, 210 Kinsey St., Richmond, Ind., died Saturday, July 10, at Heritage Regency in Richmond.
Born June 9, 1924, in Ft. Wayne, Ind., she was the daughter of Jay and Lela (Cox) Downend, and had lived in Richmond most of her life. She was assistant pastor at South Side Original Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul J. Robinson.
Survivors include a son, Paul Robinson of Richmond, Ind.; a granddaughter, April Tate of Richmond, Ind.; and a great-granddaughter, Brittany Tate of Richmond, Ind.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 14, at South Side Original Church of God, with Bishop Alvin White officiating. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service at the church.
A second service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 15, at Jones-Klute-Lamb Funeral Home, 1307 E. Main St., Richmond, Ind., with the Rev. Clyde Hylton officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30-11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will take place Thursday, July 15, in Glen Haven Cemetery, Richmond, Ind.
Edgar Johnson
Edgar Johnson, 66, of 810 Clark St., Franklin, died Sunday, July 11, at Sycamore Medical Center in Miamisburg.
Born Sept. 9, 1932, in Manchester, Ky., he was the son of Hillard and Mary (Moore) Johnson. He had served in the National Guard, and was employed by the Miami Valley Coating Paper Co. for 21 years, retiring in 1973.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Mary Ann (Hannah) Johnson; two sons, Tom Johnson of Camden and Eddie Johnson Jr. of Franklin; three brothers, Chester Johnson of Miamisburg, Rutherford Middleton of Carlisle and Lester Slaton of Three Rivers, Mich.; a sister, Frieda Harris of Gratis; and three grandchildren, Andrea, Billy and Valerie Ann
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Berlin.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 14, at the Eaton-Anderson Funeral Home, 121 E. 2nd St., Franklin. Burial will be in Springboro Cemetery.
