Eva N. Doty
Eva Nola (Duggins) Doty, 89, of Lakeland, Fla., formerly of Eaton, died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 1997, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center.
Born April 12, 1907, in Eaton, she was the daughter of the late Victor and Jenny (Burkett) Duggins. She moved from Eaton to Lakeland, Fla., in 1939. She had worked as a civilian drive at Drane Field Air Force Base, Fla., and at various places in Preble County. She was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, Lakeland, Fla., and a former member of the Barron Street Church of Christ, Eaton.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Everett Keltner; her second husband, John Weldy; and her third husband, Clifford Elbert Doty, on Jan. 15, 1986.
Survivors include four nieces, Regina Overholts and Janice Worley, both of Eaton, Patricia Favorite of Waleska, Ga., and Vicki Silva of Marietta, Ga.; four nephews, Maurice Duggins of Eaton, Joseph Doty and Fredrick Doty, both of Cambridge City, Ind., and Thomas Doty of Mt. Polaski, Ill.; and close friends, the Young family of Lakeland, Fla.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Jan. 28, at the Church of Christ, Eaton, with Maurice Duggins, Pastor Richard Boroff and Pastor Lowell T. Spencer officiating. Burial was in Mound Hill Union Cemetery, Eaton. Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Funeral Home, Eaton, was in charge of arrangements.
Verlin O. Mikesell
Verlin O. "Mike" Mikesell, 75, died Sunday, Jan. 19, 1997, in Spring Hill, Fla., where he had resided for the past 13 years. He formerly lived in Largo, Fla., and New Paris.
He was a retired auto mechanic, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a member of Grace Presbyterian Church, VFW Post #10209 in Spring Hill and the Ohio Club of Spring Hill.
Survivors include his wife, Marguerite; three sons, Ronald Mikesell of Hermosa Beach, Calif., Kenneth Mikesell of Orlando, Fla., and Gary Mikesell of Belleair, Fla.; one daughter, Judith Nicholl of Spring Hill, Fla.; one brother, Wilbur Mikesell of Eaton; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were Wednesday, Jan. 22, at Pinecrest Funeral Chapel, Spring Hill, Fla., with Dr. Paul H. Clemons officiating. Military graveside services, under the direction of VFW Post #10209, Spring Hill, were Thursday, Jan. 23, at Florida National Cemetery,

Esther M. Hart
Esther M. Hart, 86, a resident of Hillcrest Estates in Liberty, Ind., for the past nine years, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 1997, at McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital in Oxford. She was a former resident of Camden.
Born Oct. 20, 1910, in Union County, Ind., she was the daughter of Joseph and Ollie (Ramey) Sheets. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Camden, Kappa Kappa Chi Society, a 50-year member of Eastern Star Chapter #443 in Camden, and Preble County Farm Bureau Discussion Group.
She was preceded in death by her husband, H. Keith Hart, on Dec. 2, 1944; and her parents.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Merl (Patricia) Gentry of Liberty, Ind.; a son, John J. Hart of Dayton; three grandchildren, Leah Krickenbarger of Lewisburg, Keith Bourne and Krista Gabbard, both of Liberty, Ind.; a stepgranddaughter, Michelle Carter of Liberty, Ind.; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Ada Turner of Richmond, Ind.; a brother, Lowell Sheets of Centerville, Ind.; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. John (Marilyn) Thomas of Camden.
Funeral services were Friday, Jan. 24, at the First United Presbyterian Church, Camden, with the Rev. William Walthour officiating. Burial was in Fairmount Cemetery, Camden. R.C. Nein and Sons Funeral Home, Camden, was in charge of arrangements.
Ethel M. Hawley
Ethel M. Hawley, 88, formerly of Dewey Street, West Alexandria, died Thursday, Jan. 23, 1997, at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Ind., after a short illness.
Born Feb. 8, 1908, she was the daughter of Daniel and Mary (Gaskill) Askins. She was a graduate of Ashland College, had taught in a one-room schoolhouse in Preble County years ago, and was also a substitute teacher in West Alexandria for many years. She was a member of the First Brethren Church, West Alexandria.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Hawley, in 1991.
Survivors include six sons, Kenneth Hawley, James and wife Barbara, David and wife Vicky, all of Eaton, Marvin and wife Mary of Detroit, Mich., Thomas Hawley of Farmersville, Warren and wife Dixie of West Alexandria.
Also surviving are five daughters, Mary Little and husband Elijah of Middletown, Shirley Carroll and husband Jim, Claudia Hurst and husband Phil, all of West Alexandria, Lova Overholtz and husband Leon of Glendale, Ariz., Kathryn Duncan and husband Thomas of Cloverdale, Ind.; 55 grandchildren; 75 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Doris Mato; two sons, Clifford Hawley and Robert Hawley; two brothers; and one sister.
Funeral services were Monday, Jan. 27, at the First Brethren Church, with the Rev. David Oligee officiating. Burial was in Sugar Grove Cemetery, West Alexandria. Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home, West Alexandria, was in charge of arrangements.
Robert Swafford
Robert "Jeff" Swafford, 39, of Lewisburg, died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 1997, following an extended illness.
He was a 1975 graduate of Northmont High School, was retired from the City of Dayton where he worked as a heavy equipment operator, and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy J. (Smith) Swafford; mother, Peggy S. (Ledbetter) Davis of Lewisburg; a son, Robert J. Swafford of Lewisburg; stepsons, Jason A. and Michael A. Byers, both of Englewood; sisters and brothers-in-law, Belinda S. Scott of Laura, Patsy A. and Daniel Frazier of North Vernon, Ind., Sandra K. and Terry O'Dell of Lewisburg; one grandson, Brandon Michael Swafford of Lewisburg; mother- and father-in-law, John D. and Mary Lou (Riggs) Smith of Trotwood; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert L. Swafford.
Funeral services were Friday, Jan. 24, at Kindred-Barnes Funeral Home, Englewood, with the Rev. Jason Norman officiating. Burial was in Royal Oak Memorial Gardens, Brookville.

Charles T. Worley
Charles T. Worley, 95, of 8545 Somers Road, Camden, died Friday, Jan. 24, 1997, at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Ind.
Born Dec. 3, 1901, in Scott County, Va., he was the son of Lonnie M. and Lillie (Baker) Worley. He was a Preble County farmer for 75 years. Mr. Worley was a member of the Camden Masonic Lodge #159; Preble County 32 Club, Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of Ohio Chapter 22; Grand Council Royal and Select Masons of Ohio past illustrious master Preble Council #135; Middletown Commandery #71 Knights Templar; Antioch Temple AAONMS of Dayton; and Eastern Star Camden Chapter #443.
He married Lannie M. Katron on Aug. 27, 1921, in Bristol, Tenn., and she preceded him in death Sept. 3, 1967.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Frank and Kathryn Worley of Eaton, Robert and Zella Worley of Gratis, Ralph Worley of Jacksonville, Fla., and Lonnie Worley of Camden; one daughter, Betty Worley of Camden; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; and one sister, Margaret Pullen of Bristol, Tenn.
He was also preceded in death by brothers, Zeb Worley, Isaac Worley, Scott Worley, James Worley, Nathan Worley and Ernest Worley.
Funeral services were Monday, Jan. 27, at R.C. Nein and Sons Funeral Home, Camden, with the Rev. Greg Jackson officiating. Burial was in Fairmount Cemetery, Camden.
Mary E. Palmer
Mary E. Palmer, 52, of West Alexandria, died Saturday, Jan. 25, 1997, at Good Samaritan Hospital, Dayton.
Born July 21, 1944, in Jackson County, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Willis and Nancy (Malicote) Shearer, and had lived in Preble County since 1977. She was a 1962 graduate of Lebanon High School, received practical nurse's training at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, and was a secretary at Stearns Food Filters in Camden. She was a member of the United Brethren Church at the Otterbein Home, Lebanon, and the Preble County Women's Relief Corps.
Survivors include her husband, Davy L. Palmer; a daughter and son-in-law, Davie Lee and Rodney V. Cloyd of Hillsdale, Mich.; a granddaughter, Joy Elizabeth Cloyd of Canton, N.C., sisters, Floene Biedenkopf of Mason and Naomi Campbell of Columbus; two nieces and five nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Boyd W. Shearer; and two grandsons, Rodney V. Cloyd Jr. and Brett Rodney Cloyd.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, at Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Funeral, Eaton, with the Rev. Dave Hill officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home two hours prior to services. Burial will be in Mound Hill Union Cemetery, Eaton.
Margaret R. Sauer
Margaret Ruth Sauer, 80, of U.S. 35 East, West Alexandria, died Saturday, Jan. 25, 1997, at Hospice of Dayton.
Born May 20, 1916, in Millersburg, Ohio, she was the daughter of William and Lillie May (Hayward) Budd. She was a business school graduate and a housewife. She was a former member of Alpha Kappa Sorority in West Alexandria; and a member of St. John United Church of Christ in West Alexandria
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Sauer, on Jan. 20.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Emily and Frank Scott of Kettering and Kathy and John Benavides of Perrysburg, Ohio; one son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Carol Sauer of Janesville, Wis.; three grandchildren, Emily Marie Benavides of Perrysburg, Scott and Brian Sauer, both of Janesville, Wis.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
Private funeral services were held at the convenience of the family. Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home, West Alexandria, was in charge of arrangements.

John W. Brubaker
John W. Brubaker, 72, of 2323 Halderman Road, West Alexandria, died Monday, Jan. 27, 1997, at his home.
Born Nov. 22, 1924, in Preble County, he was the son of Alfred J. and Mary (Ozias) Brubaker. He was a lifelong farmer.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Dorothy (Deaton) Brubaker; four sons and daughters-in-law, Gayle and Marva Brubaker of New Carlisle, Roger and Nancy Brubaker, Calvin and Deb Brubaker, all of West Alexandria, Keith and Arlene Brubaker of Eaton; one daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Paul Oyler of Eaton; 19 grandchildren; three brothers, Arthur Brubaker and Marcus Brubaker, both of West Alexandria, and Christian Brubaker of Eaton; and one sister, Agnes Hinkle of West Alexandria.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Jared Oyler; and a sister, Marianna Brubaker.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, at the Upper Twin Old German Baptist Church on Halderman Road, West Alexandria, with The Home Brethren and Lester Flory officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, West Alexandria.
Friends may call at the Brubaker home, 2323 Halderman Road, on Wednesday, Jan. 29, from 2-9 p.m. The prayer service will take place at the Brubaker home at 9:15 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 30. Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home, West Alexandria, is in charge of arrangements.
Ruth N. Harry
Ruth N. Harry, 88, formerly of Brookville, died Sunday, Jan. 26, 1997, in Phillipsburg after an extended illness.
Born Sept. 22, 1908, in Montgomery County, she was the daughter of Albert and Alice (Stoner) Steck. She was 4-H leader in the area for 25 years, and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Brookville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Harry, in 1975.
Survivors include four daughters, Carolyn K. Studebaker and husband Bruce of West Alexandria, Alice J. Blosser and husband Tom of New Lebanon, Lynn L. Peters and husband Jerry of Brookville, and Diane S. Harry of Columbus; a son and daughter-in-law, David H. and Norita Harry of Waverly, Iowa; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Mary Stoner of Trotwood; and a loving caregiver, Charlene Ernst of Phillipsburg.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Ethel Swadner.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Brookville, with the Rev. Owen Williams officiating. Friends may call at the church from one hour prior to services on Sunday. Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home, West Alexandria, is in charge of arrangements.
