Dorothy J. Gray
Dorothy J. Gray, 68, of Camden, died Thursday, Sept. 23.
Born Aug. 10, 1931, in Hamilton, she was the daughter of Harvey and Helen (McDonald) Douglas. She was formerly employed at Harvey's Restaurant, a family-owned and operated business in Camden.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Helen Douglas; a son-in-law, Rick Mondello; and an infant granddaughter, Lori Jo.
Survivors include three sons, Robert (Judy) Gray of Michigan, Michael Gray of Camden and Donald (Andrea) Gray of Farmersville; two daughters, Barbara (Michael) Lynskey of Trenton and Janice Mondello of Camden.
Also surviving are three brothers, Charles Douglas of Sebastian, Fla., Donald and James Douglas, both of Camden; one sister, Mary Kindle of Arlington, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Jamie, Brian, Ryan, Jeremy, Leigh, Christopher, Jason and Corey; and one great-grandchild, Caitlyn; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Sunday, Sept. 26, at R.C. Nein & Sons-Thompson Funeral Home, Camden, followed by burial in Fairmount Cemetery, Camden.
Richard W. Wall
Richard William "Dick" Wall, 50, of Camden, died Friday, Sept. 24, in Camden.
Born Sept. 29, 1948, in Hamilton, he was the son of Robert B. and Mae (Caudill) Wall. He was a U.S. Army veteran, and had been employed at Barnets Mill in Camden and at Miami University.
Survivors include Alex Wall, Melinda Wall, his mother, Mae Wall, all of Camden; a brother, Robert (Carol Ann) Phillips of New Lebanon; four sisters, Ginger Bittinger, Jeaniene Dusky and Kris (Daryl) Osborne, all of Camden, and Ann (Ned) O'Dell of Hamilton.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29, at Fairmount Cemetery, Camden, with the Rev. Jackie Marshall officiating. R.C. Nein & Sons-Thompson Funeral Home, Camden, is in charge of arrangements.
Marjorie Boomershine
Marjorie Boomershine, 74, of Morgan's Point Resort, Belton, Texas, died Friday, Sept. 24.
Born June 20, 1925, in Kokomo, Ind., she was the daughter of John and Marie (Sexton) Caffery. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Temple, Texas, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Belton Golden Agers.
Survivors include her husband, Daniel G. Boomershine, whom she married Jan. 10, 1947, in Richmond, Ind.; four daughters, Barbara Kirchner of Aiken, S.C., Peggy Zimmerman and Kathy Lamb, both of Belton, Texas, and Cherry Boomershine of Temple, Texas; one son, Robert L. Boomershine of Little River, Texas; one brother, Fred Caffery of Prescott, Ariz.; one sister, Betty Godman of Camp Verde, Ariz.; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Monday, Sept. 27, at Dossman Funeral Home Chapel, Belton, Texas, with Pastor Frank Jenkins officiating. Burial was in North Belton Cemetery.
Bayard Hamblin
Bayard Hamblin, 83, died Saturday, Sept. 25, at Woodland Country Manor near Somerville.
Born July 2, 1916, in Clay County, Ky., he was the son of James and Laura (Hudson) Hamblin. He married Sallie Treadway on July 2, 1938, in McKee, Ky.
Mr. Hamblin was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and was employed as a punch press operator at General Motors until his retirement. He was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church and of the Free Masons.
Survivors include two sons, James Hamblin of Somerville and David (Debra) Hamblin of Georgetown, Ky.; one brother, Arthur Hamblin of Hamilton; one sister, Ora Koetter of Miamisburg; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Sept. 28, at R.C. Nein & Sons-Thompson Funeral Home, Camden, with the Rev. Greg Jackson officiating. Burial was in Fairmound Cemetery, West Elkton.
Kathryn Kiracofe
Memorial services for Kathryn Kiracofe, 92, of Bridgewater, Va., who died Monday, Sept. 13, will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10, at the Gratis Church of the Brethren.
Barbara J. Shelley
Barbara June Shelley, 57, of New Paris, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Ind., after a short illness.
Born June 29, 1952, in Richmond, Ind., she was the daughter of Emmet E. and Mary (Parks) McDivitt. She was a 1960 graduate of Jackson High School and a member of Twin Creek Chapel in Preble County. She had been employed at Target department store in Richmond for the past six years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald M. Shelley, in 1993; sister, Esther Dearth, in 1997; and brothers, Ellsworth McDivitt, Kenneth McDivitt, Cecil McDivitt, Lester McDivitt and Gene McDivittt.
Survivors include two sons, Randall M. Shelley of Eaton and Rodney W. Shelley of New Paris; two daughters, Rhonda J. Vance of New Paris and Brenda L. Tudor of Eaton; nine grandchildren.
Also surviving are sisters, Hazel Dafler of Liberty, Ind., Mary Lou Cavins of Colorado Springs, Colo., Mabel Sandlin of Camden, Ruth Ann Loy of Arcanum, Ruby Hackenbracht of Eaton; brothers, Virgil McDivitt of Fountain City, Ind., Everett McDivitt of Richmond, Ind., Paul McDivitt of Brownsville, Ind., and Keith McDivitt of Pershing, Ind.
Funeral services were Saturday, Oct. 2, at the First Baptist Church in New Paris, with the Rev. Reggie Osborne officiating. Burial was in Springlawn Cemetery, New Paris. Barnes Funeral Home-New Paris Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Adolph Baker
Adolph "Doc" Baker, 100, formerly of West Manchester, died Wednesday, Sept. 29, at the home of his daughter, Jeanne Coning, in Greenville.
Born April 1, 1899, in Whitewater, Ind., he was the son of the late Alonzo and Anna (Freed) Baker, and had lived most of his life in West Manchester. He was the only living World War I veteran in Preble and Darke counties.
Mr. Baker enlisted in the U.S. Navy on March 27, 1918, and served as a pharmacist's mate during his Navy time. He was honorably discharged on Sept. 6, 1919, and returned to Preble County.
He worked for the U.S. Postal Service in West Manchester and retired from that vocation after serving more than 30 years. He served as postmaster the majority of those years, then became a rural carrier, from which position he retired.
Mr. Baker served several terms as a commissioner on the Preble County Board of Veterans Services. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and a charter member of American Legion Post #665, West Manchester. He started the Soldiers and Sailors Relief Fund in Preble and Darke counties. He was the oldest member of New Paris Fellowship Lodge #106, F&AM. In July, he was grand marshal of the State American Legion Convention parade in Dayton. He was a member of West Manchester United Methodist Church.
Mr./ Baker was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita (Meier) Baker, in December 1989; a daughter, Carolyn Baker; and brothers, Joseph and Charles Baker.
Survivors include a daughter, Jeanne Coning of Greenville; granddaughters, Deborah Day and Jill Eisenberg; three great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Sunday, Oct. 3, at Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Michael Chapel, West Manchester, with the Rev. Jim Condrey officiating. Burial was in Sugar Grove Cemetery, West Alexandria, where military graveside services were conducted by American Legion Post #665, West Manchester.

Florence M. Wehrley
Florence M. Wehrley, 81, of Pinehurst Village, Centerville, Ind., died Wednesday, Sept. 29, at Pinehurst Village. She formerly resided at 4421 National Road West, Richmond, Ind.
Born June 3, 1918, in Montgomery County, she was the daughter of Charles and Carrie (Roof) Storer. She had lived in Wayne County since 1961. Mrs. Wehrley was a charter member of Central Christian Church, and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Survivors include her husband, Harold Wehrley, whom she married June 27, 1936; two sons, Alvin Wehrley of Richmond, Ind., and Darrell Wehrley of Fairfield, Ohio; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are three sisters, Elinor Somers of Eaton, Jane Smith of New Lebanon and Lois Baughman of West Alexandria; and five brothers, Hugh Storer of Eaton, Keith Storer of New Lebanon, Paul Storer of Richmond, Ind., Stanley Storer and Loren Storer, both of Texas.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Tyler Wehrley; and two brothers, Harold and George Storer.
Funeral services were Saturday, Oct. 2, at Central Christian Church, with the Rev. Sky Allen officiating. Burial was in Mound Hill Union Cemetery, Eaton. Mills Funeral Home, Centerville, Ind., was in charge of arrangements.

Ronald B. Lewis
Ronald B. Lewis, 68, of Lewisburg, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Sept. 29, at his home.
He retired from Sears as service manager after 33 years of service, and was a member of the Sears Retiree Club of Dayton. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Lewisburg, and the Englewood and Vandalia Senior Citizen Clubs.
Mr. Lewis was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, having served aboard the USS Missouri. He was a member of Brookville VFW Post #3288, was an avid golfer, and was currently working at the Penn Terra Golf Course.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 48 years, Sadie P. (Johnson) Lewis; sons and daughters-in-law, Martin and Julie Lewis of Brookville, Scott and Debra Lewis of Bainbridge, Ohio, Daniel and Chris Lewis of Lenoir City, Tenn.; daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and David Jenkins of Kodak, Tenn., Shari and Jeff Creech of Arcanum; brother and sister-in-law, Alva Jr. and Ruth Lewis of Milan, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alva M. Sr. and Madge R. (Goss) Lewis; and a brother, Marshall Lewis.
Funeral services were Saturday, Oct. 2, at Kindred Funeral Home, Englewood, with the Rev. Mike Pratt officiating. Burial was in Royal Oak Memorial Gardens in Brookville.

Helen F. Brubaker
Helen Frances (Metzger) Brubaker, 85, of 3207 Halderman Road, West Alexandria, died Thursday, Sept. 30, at her home.
Born April 20, 1914, in Darke County, she was the daughter of Aaron and Frances (Miller) Metzger. She was a member of the Old German Baptist Brethren Church, and was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Arthur O. Brubaker; five sons and companions, Martin and Ruth Brubaker, Wesley and Carolyn Brubaker, all of Eaton, Paul and Wilma Brubaker, Jim and Norma Brubaker, Tom and Katie Brubaker, all of West Alexandria; four daughters and companions, Louise and Elwyn Beachler, Catharine and Stuart Cook, all of North Manchester, Ind. Ellen Brubaker, Barbara and Andrew Bambeck, all of West Alexandria; a daughter-in-law, Vera Brubaker of Waynesboro, Pa.; 37 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her oldest son, David Brubaker, in 1973; a grandson, Mark Cook, in 1995; three brothers; two sisters; and a son-in-law.
Funeral services were Sunday, Oct. 3, at Upper Twin Old German Baptist Church, West Alexandria, with the Home Brethren officiating. Burial was in Sugar Grove Cemetery, West Alexandria. Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home, West Alexandria, was in charge of arrangements.
Arlene F. Marker
Arlene F. Marker, 71, of Eaton, died Friday, Oct. 1, at Grandview Hospital in Dayton.
Born Nov. 22, 1927, in Dayton, she was the daughter of the late Ford P. and Anna (Chippendale) Ogden. She was a graduate of Wilbur Wright High School in Dayton, and had been a former employee of The Eaton Place and St. Clair Inn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard O. Marker, on Nov. 21, 1987; two brothers, Ford P. Ogden Jr. and James P. Ogden.
Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn Hofacker of Eaton; sons, Robert L. Marker of Eaton and David R. Marker of Waynesville, N.C.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Oct. 5, at Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Funeral Home, Eaton, with the Rev. Jeff Hill officiating. Burial was in Mound Hill Union Cemetery, Eaton.
