Ruth N. Kramer
Ruth N. Kramer, 91, formerly of Horn Street, Lewisburg, died Sunday, Oct. 10, at The Brethren's Home in Greenville, where she had been a resident since 1985.
Born Feb. 21, 1908, in Darke County, she was the daughter of Henry S. and Anna M. (Lipps) Hittle. She had been a telephone operator for E.F. McDonald Company of Dayton. Mrs. Kramer was a member of Lewisburg First United Church of Christ; and was past matron of Ideal Chapter #293, Order of Eastern Star, Lewisburg.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert V. Kramer, in 1980; and three sisters, Aileen Reuse, Dorothy Springer and Leah Trittschuh.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Margaret Jones of Indianapolis, Ind.; a brother, Paul Hittle of Portland, Ind.; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, at Barnes Funeral Home-Lewisburg Chapel, 411N. Commerce St., with the Rev. Mike Hodson officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery, Lewisburg. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lewisburg First United Church of Christ.

Lucille C. Bruns
Lucille C. Bruns, 89, of Eaton, died Monday, Oct. 11, at Greenbriar Nursing Center.
Born Aug. 5, 1910, in Versailles, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Cora (Treon) Berger, and had lived most of her life in Preble County. She was a member of Visitation Catholic Church, Eaton, and the Preble County Senior Citizens.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Bruns, on Feb. 12, 1974; brothers, Bernard Berger, Hubert Berger, Lucian Berger and Francis Berger; and a sister, Mary Belle Rice.
Survivors include three daughters, Vivian Rogers of Brentwood, Tenn., Barbara Bradley and Karen Bruns, both of Eaton; two sons, Donald Bruns of Lake Worth, Fla., and Richard Bruns of Eaton; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two sisters, Dorothy Jean Martino of Versailles and Evelyn Loxley of Greenville; a brother, Joseph Berger of Versailles; a stepsister, June Perin of Versailles; a half sister, Janet Pitsingbarger of Versailles; half brothers, Edward Berger of Dayton and Robert Berger of Cincinnati; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, at Visitation Catholic Church, Eaton, with Deacon Joseph F. James officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, West Alexandria. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, at Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Funeral Home, 226 W. Main St., Eaton, where the Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to United Way.

William E. Holt
William E. "Bill" Holt, 70, of Ohio 503 North, Lewisburg, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Oct. 19, in Camden.
Born Dec. 30, 1928, in Marion County, Ky., he was the son of Lewis and Stella (Stetters) Holt. He retired in 1984 from GH&R Foundry in Dayton.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack Holt and John Holt; a sister, Nora Holt; and a son, William L. Holt, in 1980.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Vivian (Runner) Holt; a stepdaughter, Jackie Coleman of Texas; a sister, Eunice Wogcik of Dayton; and grandchildren, Ben Holt of Lewisburg and Vivian Holt of College Corner, Ohio.
Funeral services were Thursday, Oct. 21, at Barnes Funeral Home-Lewisburg Chapel, with the Rev. Elmer L. Buck officiating. Burial was in Sugar Grove Cemetery near West Alexandria.

Gene K. Sarver
Gene K. Sarver, 79, of Eaton, died Wednesday morning, Oct. 20, at Grandview Hospital in Dayton after an extended illness.
Born Sept. 28, 1920, in Darke County, he was the son of Lloyd O. and Blanche R. (Bush) Sarver. He had lived in Preble and Darke counties most of his life, and had been a farmer.
Survivors include three sisters, Phyllis Werts of Eaton, June Walker of New Paris and Norma Wahl of Florida; two brothers, Dale Sarver of Medway and Charles Bush Saver of California.
Funeral services were held at the convenience of the family, followed by burial in Monroe Cemetery near Eldorado. Barnes Funeral Home-Eaton Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to Vancrest Health Care Center (Activity Fund), 1320 Eaton-Gettysburg Road, Eaton, OH 45320.

Virginia A. Henn
Virginia A. Henn, 79, of New Paris, died Wednesday, Oct. 20, at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Ind.
Born March 16, 1920, in Cambridge City, Ind., she was the daughter of John F. and Helen (Wickes) Singer. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church, Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #310 and Triple L Club, all of New Paris.
She was preceded in death by a brother, James Leo.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Sidney H. Henn; sons and daughters-in-law, J. Frank and Judy A. Henn of New Paris, S. Bruce and Norma J. Henn of Troy; daughters and sons-in-law, Patty A. and Don Stokes of New Paris, Rosemary and Jerry M. Good of Eldorado; a sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and David Skates of Gatlinburg, Tenn.; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Saturday, Oct. 23, at the First United Presbyterian Church, New Paris, with the Rev. Michael Evans officiating. Burial was in Springlawn Cemetery, New Paris. Barnes Funeral Home-New Paris Chapel was in charge of arrangements. Eastern Star services were conducted Friday evening at the funeral home.

Florence E. Hartman
Florence E. Zurwell Hartman, 88, formerly of New Paris, died Thursday, Oct. 21, at Oaks of Kissimmee in Kissimmee, Fla.
Born Oct. 15, 1911, in Indiana, she was the daughter of Joe and Mary (Varner) Baker. She had lived in the New Paris area most of her life before moving to Florida in 1992.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Lee Zurwell Sr., in 1965; her second husband, Edward Hartman, in 1989; a son, Jerry Zurwell, in 1989; a brother, David Baker; sisters, Myrta Lee Webb, Marjorie "Peg" Shank, Sylvia Spraggins and Lola Tout.
Survivors include two sons, Jimmie Zurwell of Kissimmee, Fla., and Robert Zurwell of Seminole, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were Monday, Oct. 25, at Springlawn Cemetery, New Paris. Barnes Funeral Home-New Paris Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Bill D. Vance
Bill D. Vance, 69, of Gratis, died Thursday, Oct. 21, at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland.
Mr. Vance retired from the Ohio State Division of Boiler Inspection in June 1996. He was a charter member and first president of the Gratis Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife, Jane Vance of Gratis; two sons, Rick Vance of Lake Tahoe, Nev., and Ron Vance of Hyrum, Utah; a daughter, Donna Waller of Gratis; a grandson, Zachary Waller of Gratis; and a sister, Karen Paxson of Belle Center, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Juanita Vance; and a brother, Albert Keith Vance.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, at Fairview Cemetery, Gratis.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Christopher Steele Trust Fund, Fifth Third Bank, 1422 Winchester Ave., Ashland, KY 41101; or to the Heart Fund.
Flowers may be sent to the residence of Jane Vance.

Rhonda L. Hutson
Rhonda Leigh (Morgan) Hutson, 52, Camden, died Wednesday, Oct. 27, at University Hospital in Cincinnati.
Born March 14, 1947, in Vermillion, S.D., she was the daughter of Roy A. and Della Marie Morgan. She and her family moved to Portales, N.M., in 1961, where she graduated from high school. She obtained her BA degree from Eastern New Mexico University, then moved to Phoenix, Ariz., where she worked as a buyer for Goldwater's department store.
She married Ronald C. Hutson on July 4, 1970, in Clovis, N.M. In 1982, the family moved to Hobbs, N.M., where she finished her master's degree in early childhood education.
In 1984, the Hutsons moved to Camden and she worked as a kindergarten teacher at the McGuffey Foundation School in Oxford. She loved horses, and was actively involved with the 4-H groups, horse shows and fairs, as well as providing riding lessons for children in the community.
Survivors include her husband, Ron; son, Cameron Hutson, serving with the U.S. Army at Vilseck, Germany; brother and sister-in-law, Roy A. and Margaret Morgan of Albuquerque, N.M.; sister and brother-in-law, Meg and Mark Paz of Tularosa, N.M.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Jaynelle Irene; and infant son, Cody.
Visitation and funeral services were Saturday, Oct. 30, at R.C. Nein & Sons-Thompson Funeral Home, Camden, with her family officiating. Her family is then taking her home to Portales, N.M., where she will be buried Wednesday, Nov. 3, at Portales Cemetery.

Elbert L. Doty
Elbert L. Doty, 77, of Eaton, died Thursday morning, Oct. 28, at Middletown Regional Hospital in Middletown.
Born May 4, 1922, in Camden, he was the son of the late Clifford and Marie (Booker) Doty. He was a graduate of Camden High School, and served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. He retired in 1984 from Schreiber Sheet Metal Co. after 33 years. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW and the Sheet Metal Workers Union.
He was preceded in death on Nov. 5, 1993, by his wife, Ann N. Doty, whom he married March 21, 1953; and a brother, James Doty, in 1993.
Survivors include stepsons and their wives, Michael S. and Betty Sizelove, Ronald R. and Beth Ellen Sizelove, all of Eaton; grandchildren, Steven Sizelove of Boulder, Colo., Regina Hawley and husband Mike of Eaton; great-grandchildren, Drew and Zachary Hawley; brother, Donald Doty of Camden; beloved friend, Alice Marts of Middletown; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Saturday, Oct. 30, at Barnes Funeral Home-Preble Memory Gardens Chapel, West Alexandria, with Pastor George Brewer officiating. Burial was in Preble Memory Gardens, West Alexandria.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Richard C. Bender
Richard C. Bender, 57, of East Lexington Road, Eaton, died unexpectedly Thursday, Oct. 28, at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.
Born Oct. 13, 1942, in Lebanon, Pa., he was the son of Richard G. and Lucy H. (Oswald) Bender. He served with the U.S. Air Force from 1966 to 1970, and was employed as Preble County National Bank EDT manger from 1978 to 1985. Mr. Bender retired after 17 years of service from NCR Corporation in Dayton as senior assistant analyst for the Computer Bank Support. He was owner and operator of All-Sports in Eaton. He was a member of the Eaton Boosters Club and American Legion Post #215 of Eaton.
Survivors include his wife, Frances J. "Fran" (Shindel) Bender; a son and daughter-in-law, Craig R. and Joanne M. Bender, serving with the U.S. Army in South Korea; a daughter, Melody M. Maxwell of Franklin; and a sister, Patricia Deysher of Macungie, Pa.
Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family, with Pastor James Harvey officiating. Burial will be in Preble Memory Gardens, West Alexandria. Barnes Funeral Home-Eaton Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Eaton Emergency Squad.
