Norma M. Michael
Norma M. Michael, 92, of Enterprise Road, West Alexandria, died Monday, Jan. 31, at Otterbein-Lebanon Home in Lebanon.
Born Jan. 7, 1908, in Preble County, she was the daughter of Harry and Clara (Loy) Darragh. She was a member of the First Brethren Church in Gratis, Rachel Rebekah Lodge in Eaton, and was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Michael, in 1993; her parents; and three sisters, Faye Shaw, Lura Graham and Mildred Coleman.
Survivors include a son, Wallace (Joy) Michael of Middletown; two daughters, Barbara Hileman of Gratis and Clara Jo McLemore of Waynesville; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Friday, Feb. 4, at Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home, Gratis, with the Rev. Robert French officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, Gratis. Rebekah Lodge services were conducted during visitation on Friday at the funeral home.

James W. Warth Jr.
James W. Warth Jr., 69, formerly of Richmond, Ind., died unexpectedly Wednesday, Feb. 2, in St. Petersburg, Fla. He had lived in Florida since 1983.
Born Oct. 13, 1930, in Butler County, he was the son of James W. Sr. and Myrtle E. (Morris) Warth. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, and had worked for General Telephone of Richmond, Ind. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge and the Moose Lodge, both of Richmond, Ind.
Survivors include his mother, Myrtle Warth of New Paris; a son, Tim A. Warth of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a daughter, Debra Melton of Hagerstown, Ind.; brothers, Gene Warth of Richmond, Ind., and John Warth of New Paris; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Monday, Feb. 7, at Barnes Funeral Home-New Paris Chapel, with Roger Williams officiating. Burial was in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, Richmond, Ind.

Paul E. Krintzline
Paul E. Krintzline, 86, of Eaton, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, at his home.
Born July 28, 1913, in Eaton, he was the son of the late George W. and Myrtle L. (Hedges) Krintzline, and had lived in Preble and Montgomery counties all his life. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and was a retired contracting officer for the Department of Defense. Mr. Krintzline was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Brookville, attended the Eaton Church of the Brethren, was a life member of the DAV and a member of the American legion.
Survivors include his wife, Norma I. (Thomas) Krintzline, whom he married Jan. 4, 1941; a son, Donald E. Krintzline of Tiffin; a daughter, Linda S. McMechan of Eaton; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Krintzline of Eaton; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Orville Krintzline; and three sisters, Doris Davis, Mary Pippin and Cora Krintzline.
Funeral services were Saturday, Feb. 5, at Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Funeral Home, Eaton, with the Rev. William O. Schwochow officiating. Burial was in Mound Hill Union Cemetery, Eaton, with military graveside services conducted by the Preble County Honor Guard.

Christine D. Valandingham
Christine D. Valandingham, 69, of Eaton, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Ind., after an extended illness.
Born Oct. 6, 1930, in Mount Vernon, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Pate and Janie (Mize) Bullock. She came to the Preble County area in 1987.
She was preceded in death by a brother, James "Boss" Bullock; and a sister, Edna Stevens.
Survivors include her husband of 32 years, Marvin A. Valandingham; a daughter and son-in-law, Joanne and Tom Sparkman of Eaton; a brother, Pate Bullock Jr. of Mount Vernon, Ky.; sisters, Irene Brown, Pauline Sandlin, Mae Burdine, Magola Mckinney, all of Cincinnati, Marie Harper of Indianapolis, Ind., and Ruby Payne of Mount Vernon, Ky.; grandchildren, Christina Sparkman and Pamela Sparkman, both of Eaton.
Funeral services were Saturday, Feb. 5, at Barnes Funeral Home-Preble Memory Gardens Chapel, West Alexandria. Burial was in Preble Memory Gardens.

Olivia J. Parker
Olivia J. Parker, 100, formerly of Wayne Trace Road, Eaton, died Thursday, Feb. 3, at Collinswood Nursing Center in Fairborn.
Born July 11, 1899, in Sparta, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Rosie (Wolfe) Crouse, and had lived in Preble County most of her life. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Eaton and a former member of the Eaton Grange.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Parker, on April 6, 1972; four brothers; and three sisters.
Survivors include two daughters, Freda Eden of Fairborn and Marie Boyd of San Mateo, Calif.; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Beatrice Fryman of Englewood; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Feb. 8, at Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Funeral Home, Eaton, with the Rev. Thomas H. Maxedon Jr. officiating. Burial was in Sugar Grove Cemetery, West Alexandria.

Martha E. Suman
Martha E. Suman, 73, of West Main Street, Eaton, died Sunday morning, Jan. 30, at her home after an extended illness.
Born Nov. 23, 1926, in Eaton, she was the daughter of Chester and Erma (Marker) Fudge.
She was preceded in death by a son, M. Jogues Suman.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Robert L. Suman Sr.; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert L. Jr. and Irene E. Suman of Eaton; a daughter and son-in-law, Chesta I. and James Karns of Eaton; grandchildren, Michael B. Bergen, Robert L. Bergen, Brian A. and Tequila Smith, Joseph W. Suman, A. David Smith, Dustin R. Bresher, Julia A. Baker and Krystal R. Suman; great-grandchildren, Kourtney C. Smith, Dalton T. Smith, Tiphani C. Bergen and Zachary T. Bergen.
Funeral services were Wednesday, Feb. 2, at Barnes Funeral Home-Eaton Chapel, 220 E. Main St., with Lynn Schlobig officiating. Burial was in Mound Hill Union Cemetery, Eaton.

Leota Swain
Leota Swain, 89, of 4178 Eaton-Gettysburg Road, Eaton, died Thursday, Feb. 3, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton.
Born Oct. 14, 1910, in Earlville, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Edward H. and Nellie (Kidney) Wilson, and had lived in Preble County most of her life. She was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George H. Swain, on Sept. 17, 1999; a brother, Donald Wilson; and a sister, Lucille Banta.
Survivors include a son, John E. Swain of Eaton; a daughter, Patricia A. Kelley of Eaton; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Mildred Halsey of Greenville; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Saturday, Feb. 5, at Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Funeral Home, Eaton, with the Rev. Jeffery W. Blair officiating. Burial was in Mound Hill Union Cemetery, Eaton.

Opal M. Cullers
Opal Marie Cullers, 96, of 515 S. Maple St., Eaton, died Friday, Feb. 4, at Heartland of Eaton, where she had been a resident since 1980.
Born Dec. 27, 1903, in Montgomery County, she was the daughter of Claude L. and Sarah C. (Holp) Cullers. She had lived in Preble County most of her life.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, William H. Cullers and Robert Cullers.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Feb. 8, at Barnes Funeral Home-Eaton Chapel, with the Rev. Lowell T. Spencer officiating. Burial was in Mound Hill Union Cemetery, Eaton.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Eaton Emergency Squad.

James L. Hartshorn
James L. Hartshorn, 84, of Eaton, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, at Greenbriar Nursing Center in Eaton.
Born April 19, 1915, in West Sonora, he was the son of the late Joseph A. and Katie (McGriff) Hartshorn. He retired in 1973 after 31 years at Harrison Radiator in Dayton, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the AFL-CIO Union in Dayton.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth (Taylor) Hartshorn, in 1983; sisters, Agnes Wombold and Prudie Black; and brothers, William and Edward Hartshorn.
Survivors include a daughter, Joyce A. Moore of Eaton; grandchildren, David L. Ward and Brenda A. Watkins; and great-grandchildren, Amy and Kevin Ward, and Nicholas Watkins.
Funeral services were Friday, Feb. 4, at Barnes Funeral Home-Eaton Chapel, with the Rev. Jay Whitley officiating. Burial was in Preble Memory Gardens, West Alexandria.

Forrest J. Culp
Forrest J. Culp, 48, of Quaker Trace Road, West Alexandria, died Saturday, Feb. 5, at his home.
Born Sept. 3, 1951, in Dayton, he was the son of Charles E. and Retha (Boothby) Culp. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Eaton Church of the Brethren. He most recently worked in several restaurant chains around the area.
Survivors include his wife, Rita Culp; three sons, Joshua Culp of Vinton, Ohio, Steven Culp and Edward Culp, both of Camden; three daughters, Angela (Earl) Brabb of Columbus, Margaret (Dana) Heindl of Gratis and April Culp of Camden.
Also surviving are four brothers, Charles Culp and Edward Culp, both of Dayton, Wayne Culp of Lexington, S.C., and Richard Culp of Vinton, Ohio; two grandsons; one sister, Theresa Brown of Dayton; and a stepson, Brian Culver of West Alexandria.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Kevin Culp; and his parents.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Feb. 8, at the Eaton Church of the Brethren, with the Rev. Gregg Hyre officiating. Burial was in Royal Oak Cemetery, Brookville. Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home, West Alexandria, was in charge of arrangements.

Irene L. Comer
Irene L. Comer, 87, of Eaton, died Friday, Feb. 4, at Greenbriar Nursing Center.
Born Dec. 4, 1912, in Preble County, she was the daughter of Roy C. and Mary Etta (Spitler) Eubank. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Ingomar, and a member of the Women of the Church. She had worked for Shillito-Rike's department store as a cook years ago and also at Gearhart's Cafeteria in New Lebanon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Comer, in 1968; two sons, Donald Comer and Ronald Comer; two brothers, Harry Eubank and Oliver Eubank; and a sister, Violet Comer.
Survivors include two daughters, Helen Comer and Caroline Tackett, both of Eaton; three grandchildren, Cheryl Green and Debbie Tackett, both of Eaton, and Jerry Tackett of Richmond, Ind.; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Leonard Eubank of New Paris and Clifford Eubank of Huber Heights.
Funeral services were Monday, Feb. 7, at Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home, West Alexandria, with Pastor Terri Peterson officiating. Burial was in Twin Valley Cemetery, West Alexandria.

Juanita M. Keith
Juanita Marie "Judy" Keith, 60, of Eaton, formerly of the Cedar Circle Residents Home, died Saturday, Feb. 5, at Greenbriar Nursing Center following an extended illness.
She had lived in Eaton for nearly 25 years, had worked at L&M Products for 20 years, and attended the Senior Group at the Eaton Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Keith; and a sister, Sandra Keith.
Survivors include her mother, Christine Keith; a sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Paul Marburger of Brookville; nieces Tammy (Russ) Duffie of Brookville and Paula (Mark) Elliott of West Milton; a nephew, Todd (Kim) Marburger of Brookville; six great-nieces and great-nephews; and other relatives.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Feb. 8, at the Royal Oak Mausoleum Chapel, Brookville, with Pastor Jerry Reynolds officiating. Gilbert-Fellers Funeral Home, Brookville, was in charge of arrangements.

Margaret L. Layton
Margaret L. Layton, 84, of Eaton, died Sunday, Feb. 6, at her home.
Born June 11, 1915, in Madison, Ind., she was the daughter of the late George Leonard and Anna May (Helt) Ferguson. She had lived in the Eaton area since 1957, and retired in 1979 after 17 years as a cook at Eaton High School. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and Women's Circle 4 group of the church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles N. Layton Sr.; a daughter, Anna Marie Hammond; brothers, Francis and George Ferguson; and a grandson, Ronald Layton.
Survivors include two sons, Charles N. Layton of Eaton and Robert W. Layton of University Heights; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, at Barnes Funeral Home-Eaton Chapel, 220 E. Main St., with the Rev. Thomas H. Maxedon Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Mound Hill Union Cemetery, Eaton.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 120 N. Maple St., Eaton, OH 45320.

Cash Lynn
Cash Lynn, 85, of Eaton, died Monday, Feb. 7, at Heartland of Eaton.
Born June 4, 1914, in Covington, Ky., he was the son of the late John Milton and Laura (Gray) Lynn. Mr. Lynn was a retired auto mechanic, and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the 40 and 8 of Richmond, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Brown Lynn, in 1982; a son, "Doc" Cashis Lynn Jr., in 1996; a brother, Bennie Lynn, in 1986; and sisters, Mildred Pittman, in 1998, and Chrystal Watters, in 1967.
Survivors include two sisters, Nellie Katherine Somers of Eaton and Ruth Wolff of Florida.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, at Preble Memory Gardens, West Alexandria, with the Rev. Ronald L. Foulk officiating. Full military honors will be provided by the Preble County Honor Guard. Barnes Funeral Home-Eaton Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Jennie D. Carrier
Jennie D. Carrier, 89, of Eaton, died Monday, Feb. 7, at Heartland of Eaton.
Born Dec. 28, 1910, in Preble County, she was the daughter of the late Jacob S. and Ida V. (Werts) Driver. She was a 1930 graduate of Lanier High School, and was retired from Frigidaire Corp. in Dayton. She was a member of the Xenia chapter of Eastern Star and the Xenia chapter of Rebekah Lodge.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Kenton Driver; and a sister, Viola Creager.
Survivors include a brother, Keith Driver of Eaton; a sister, Clara Coning of Eaton; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, at Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Funeral Home, 226 W. Main St., Eaton, with the Rev. Lowell T. Spencer officiating. Burial will be in Mound Hill Union Cemetery, Eaton. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Quensetta L. Ross
Quensetta (Lovely) Colebank Ross, 81, of St. Petersburg, Fla., died Monday, Feb. 7, at her daughter's home in Middletown.
Born July 4, 1918, in Miamisburg, she was the daughter of Robert and Brunette (Sexton) Lovely. She had worked as an office manager at an insurance company.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Sheila and Bobby Barrett of Hamilton, Pamela and Gary Deaton of Middletown; seven grandchildren, Michael, Melissa and Terri, Sherri Deaton, Paula (Russ) Linville, Misti (Jon) Tabor and Gary Deaton Jr.
Also surviving are eight great-grandchildren, Karli, Danielle, Megan, Chad, Josh, Amber, Sara and Jacob; a brother, Robert Lovely of Jupiter, Fla.; and four sisters, Essie Hettinger, Becky Hartman, Mary Rieker and Ruth Gross, all of Eaton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Ross, in 1989; her mother, Brunette Moss, in 1996; and a grandson, Charles Jr.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Brietenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home, Middletown, is in charge of arrangements.
