Mary Lou Fligor
Mary Lou Fligor, 63, of Eaton, died Sunday, May 28, at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, as the result of an auto accident.
A native and lifelong resident of Eaton, she was born May 26, 1937, the daughter of William and Goldia (Straw) Layland. She was a 1955 graduate of Eaton High School.
Mrs. Fligor retired in 1992 after 20 years as an inventory clerk at Emerson Electric, Browning Distribution Center in Eaton. She was a member of the Eaton United Church of Christ and the Quilters' Club of Eaton.
Survivors include her husband, Richard D. Fligor, whom she married Aug. 24, 1956; a daughter, Renee L. Shiveley of Dayton; sons, Tim A. Fligor of Eaton and Gary R. Fligor of Middletown; four grandchildren; a brother, William Layland of Orlando, Fla.; a sister, June Cottingim of Eaton; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, James Layland.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 1, at Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Funeral Home, 226 W. Main St., Eaton, with the Rev. James W. Whitley officiating. Burial will be in Mound Hill Union Cemetery, Eaton. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, at the funeral home.

Ricky R. Lane
Ricky R. Lane, 46, of West Manchester, died Sunday, May 28, at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Ind.
He was born July 16, 1953, in Richmond, Ind. He was a machine operator at Parker Hannifin Corp. in Eaton.
Survivors include his parents, Glen and Norma (Morningstar) Lane of Middletown; daughters and son-in-law, Holly Renee and Bobby Lux of Greenville, Amy Jean Lane and Teresa Ann Lane, both of West Manchester; a son, Randy Clay Lane of West Manchester; a granddaughter, Desiree Taylor Morgan; sisters and brothers-in-law, Judy and Larry Maxey of Middletown, Brenda and Stephen Michael of West Manchester; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Anthony Lee Lux.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, at Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Funeral Home, 226 W. Main St., Eaton, with Pastor Bryan Rea officiating. Burial will be in Preble Memory Gardens, West Alexandria. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Essie Ollis
Essie Ollis, 92, of Somerville, died Friday, May 26, at Garden Manor Nursing Home in Middletown.
Born July 25, 1907, in North Cove, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Sam and Lura (Denny) McGee.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kelsey Ollis, whom she married in Shell Creek, Tenn.; three brothers, Dave, Sam and Bud Ollis; and three sisters, Eva Barlow, Bessie Ollis and Beatrice Ollis.
Survivors include two sons, Kenny (Mamie) Ollis of Somerville and Bill Ollis of Jonas Ridge, N.C.; one daughter, Doris Ann Ollis of Jacksonburg; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Tuesday, May 30, at R.C. Nein & Sons-Thompson Funeral Home, Camden, with the Rev. Greg Jackson officiating. Burial was in Somerville Cemetery.
Stella B. Turpin
Stella B. Turpin, 90, of Camden, died Tuesday, May 30, at McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital in Oxford.
Born March 17, 1910, in Madison County, Ky., she was the daughter of Roscoe and Anna (Cain) Combs. She was a former cook at Gratis School, a member of the Gratis Senior Citizens and a member of the First Brethren Church in Gratis.
Survivors include two sons, Robert (Loretta) Turpin of Eaton and John Turpin of Hollister, Calif.; one daughter, Anna (Gorman) Dull of Gratis; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Lydia Weber of Covington, Ky., and Ida Shaw of Ft. Wayne, Ind.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil, in 1997; three sisters, Lucille Clowers, Loraine Grief and an infant sister; and two brothers, Charles and Robert Combs.
Funeral services were Saturday, June 3, at the First Brethren Church, Gratis, with the Rev. Robert French officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, Gratis. Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home, Gratis, was in charge of arrangements.

Marietta A. Beard
Marietta A. Beard, 84, of Eaton, died Wednesday, May 31, at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.
Born Oct. 28, 1915, in Lynn, Ind., she was the daughter of the late Jacob Guy and Ottelia Gertrude (Fulks) Adams. She was a 1933 graduate of Eaton High School. Mrs. Beard was a retired bookkeeper, and worked for many years for the Board of Elections. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Eaton; Gleaners Chapter #182, Order of Eastern Star, West Alexandria; Omicron Sigma Sorority, Eaton; and the Preble County Historical Society.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William A. "Bud" Beard, on Oct. 18, 1987; and a sister, Gertrude Roselius.
Survivors include three daughters, Sandra Studebaker of Union, Sue Maiden and husband George of Eaton, Sara Love and husband James of Dayton; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and nephews.
Graveside services were Saturday, June 3, at Mound Hill Union Cemetery, Eaton, with the Rev. Thomas H. Maxedon Jr. officiating. There was no public calling. Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Funeral Home, Eaton, was in charge of arrangements.

James B. Webb
James Bryant Webb, 9, of Eaton, died unexpectedly Thursday, June 1, at Wernle Children's Home in Richmond, Ind.
He was born July 10, 1990, in Dayton.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, James E. and Tamara Webb of Eaton; mother and stepfather, Kimberly A. (Childers) and Daniel Grilliot of College Corner, Ohio; sisters, Angel Webb, Jessica Webb, Kris Lindon and Trish Lindon, all of Eaton, and Haylee Grilliot of College Corner; a brother, Dustin Grilliot of College Corner.
Also surviving are grandparents, Terrell and Mary Myers of Verona, Muriel and Art Walters of West College Corner, Ind., Wanda Varnadoe and Samuel Osborne, both of Dayton, Daniel and Doris Grilliot of New Lebanon; great-grandmother, Evelyn Webb of Englewood; and favorite uncles, Danny and Butch Loranzan.
Funeral services were Monday, June 5, at the Eaton Church of God, with Pastor Elmer S. Buck officiating. Burial was in Preble Memory Gardens, West Alexandria. Barnes Funeral Home-Preble Memory Gardens Chapel, West Alexandria, was in charge of arrangements.

Elmer N. Cottingim
Elmer N. Cottingim, 83, of Eaton, died Friday, June 2, at his home.
Born March 26, 1917, in London, Ky., he was the son of the late John C. and Susie (Neal) Cottingim, and had lived in Preble County most of his life. He had attended Camden High School. Mr. Cottingim was a retired farmer and also did livestock hauling and cattle buying. He was owner of the former L & C Meat Market in Eaton.
Survivors include his wife, Helen (Thomas) Cottingim, whom he married Oct. 24, 1938; a son and daughter-in-law, Donald L. and June Cottingim of Eaton; daughters, Betty K. Cottingim and Juanita L. Cottingim, both of Eaton; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Leslie Cottingim and Russell Cottingim, both of Camden; sisters, Myrtle Michael of Camden, Verna Dillon of Eaton and Mabel Monce of Dayton; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ann Cottingim Mason; brothers, Ellis Cottingim., Fred Cottingim and Sherman Cottingim; and a sister, Carrie Brummett.
Funeral services were Tuesday, June 6, at Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Funeral Home, Eaton, with the Rev. Robert K. Foster officiating. Burial was in Fairmount Cemetery, Camden.
Mary E. Stover
Mary E. "Boots" (Wright) Stover, 82, of Decatur Street, Eaton, died unexpectedly Saturday, June 3, at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.
She was born Feb. 23, 1918, in Camden. Mrs. Stover was a beautician in the Richmond, Ind., area most of her life, and a member of Salem Lutheran Church, West Alexandria.
Survivors include two sons, Paul Wright of Eaton and David (Nancy) Wright of West Alexandria; four grandchildren, Bryan Wright, Paige Leeper, Brad Wright and Erin Wright; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Bob Wright of Virginia; and two sisters, Bea Montgomery of Eaton and Nora Berman of Richmond, Ind.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul F. Wright, in 1961; second husband, Malcolm Stover, in 1971; and a grandson, Sean Wright, in 1992.
Funeral services were Tuesday, June 6, at Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home, West Alexandria, with the Rev. Daniel Snider officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, West Alexandria.
Stanford L. Manning
Stanford "Stan" Leroy Manning, 79, formerly of Eaton, died Friday afternoon, June 2, in a Ft. Myers, Fla., hospital after having heart bypass surgery on May 24
Born May 12, 1921, he was the son of the late Conla C. and Betty Jane (Wiles) Manning of Lynn, Ind.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Alice F. (Kelley) Manning; two daughters, Mary Johnston and Donna Oppie, both of Eaton; one son, Marvin Leroy Manning of Eaton; four grandchildren, all of Eaton; five grandchildren, all of Eaton; two sisters, Christine Ross and Janith Fouts; many nieces and nephews; and his longtime friend and companion, Sylvia Morton, formerly of Camden.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Adie Harshman, Wiladean Richards, Thelma Lamb and Noreen Lawman; and two brothers, William and Caleb Manning.
A private memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 7, at the Eaton United Church of Christ, 113 W. Decatur St., Eaton.
Roscoe Shindeldecker
Roscoe "Boone" Shindeldecker, 57, of New Market-Banta Road, Lewisburg, died Sunday, June 4, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton.
Born May 9, 1943, in Troy, he was the son of Carl A. and Verna (Glentzer) Shindeldecker. He followed in his father's footsteps and worked and co-owned the family business, C.A. Shindeldecker Excavating, since 1962.
He was a charter member of Ducks Unlimited; a member and past master of King Hiram Lodge #882, F&AM; and a member Gleaners Chapter #182, OES, in West Alexandria.
Survivors include his wife of three years, Kay Shindeldecker; three stepchildren, Angela (Tom) Arde of Verona, Shannon Shuttleworth of Lewisburg and Dawn (Bill) Hapner of West Alexandria; four brothers, Dan Shindeldecker of Centerville, Ohio, Tom Shindeldecker of Union City, Ind., Bill and Bob Shindeldecker, both of West Alexandria; three sisters, Betty Carlgren of Pittsburgh, Pa., Eda Miller of Mendon and Becky Woebrenberg of Gratis; five step-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Ken Shindeldecker.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 8, at Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home, West Alexandria, with the Rev. J. Herman Bassler officiating. Burial will be in Twin Valley Cemetery, West Alexandria. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 7, at the funeral home.

Freda Foxx
Freda Foxx, 75, of Ross, Ohio, died Tuesday evening, June 6, at Hospice of Cincinnati at Mercy Hospital of Hamilton.
Born Oct. 9, 1924, in Cincinnati, she was the daughter of Ben and Mary (Van Hook) Forman. She received her education in the Germantown schools. She was a member of the East River Road Baptist Church, where she was the pianist for several years; was pianist at the First Baptist Church of Ross; and sang and played the piano for the Happy Hearts trio. She was a member and past president of the Village and Farm Garden Club of Ross.
Survivors include her husband, Dewey E. Foxx, whom she married Jan. 13, 1945, in Tampa, Fla.; two sons and daughters-in-law Danny and Barbara Foxx of Bayview, Idaho, David and Debra Foxx of Camden; four grandchildren, Brian Foxx of Phoenix, Ariz., Blain Foxx of Hamilton, Michael Foxx of Kissimmee, Fla., and Joshua Foxx of Spokane, Wash.; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, Dewayne Forman of Carlisle.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Glen Forman.
Funeral services were Saturday, June 10, at the East River Road Baptist Church, Fairfield, with the Rev. John Enos officiating. Burial was in Grace Baptist Church Cemetery. Webb-Noonan Funeral Home, Hamilton, was in charge of arrangements.

Ina D. Cash
Ina D. Cash, 79, of West Alexandria, died Friday afternoon, June 9, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Eaton, where she had been a resident for the past two years.
Born Sept. 18, 1920, in Dayton, she was the daughter of John William and Anna Martha (Barhold) Poffenberger. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lewisburg, where for many years she served as a Sunday school teacher.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William G. Cash, on Oct. 4, 1979; nine brothers and sisters.
Survivors include a daughter, Sarah A. White of West Alexandria; a son, Donald R. Cash of West Alexandria; granddaughters, Heather Sharp of Eaton and Melinda Cash of Carlisle; great-granddaughters, Allyssa Sharp and Paige Sheard; a brother, Lawrence Poffenberger of Centerville, Ohio; a sister, Bonnie Peltz of Beavercreek; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Tuesday, June 13, at Barnes Funeral Home-Preble Memory Gardens Chapel, West Alexandria, with Pastor George Pennington officiating. Burial was in Bear Creek Cemetery.

Evelyn G. Geyer
Evelyn G. Geyer, 87, of Eaton, died Friday, June 9, at Heartland of Eaton.
Born Feb. 28, 1913, in Nashville, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late James N. and Laura B. (Lawson) Poe. She had lived in the Eaton area since 1973. Mrs. Geyer had worked as a title clerk for Stenger's Ford in Dayton and had been a cook at Greens 'N Things in Eaton. She attended Sugar Valley United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick P. Geyer, in 1972; two sisters; and four brothers.
Survivors include a daughter, Lydia G. Broderick of Eaton; four grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were Saturday, June 10, at Mound Hill Union Cemetery, Eaton, with the Rev. Wayne D. Morrison officiating. Barnes Funeral Home-Eaton Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

R. Pearl King
R. Pearl King, 71, of North Street, New Paris, died Saturday evening, June 10, at her home after an extended illness.
Born Nov. 16, 1928, in Rock Castle County, Ky., she was the daughter of Harrison and Lula (Perciful) Cope. She was a member of the Eldorado AmVets Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary and Full Gospel Church, both of New Paris.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Allene Potts; and a brother, John Cope.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Lish "Red" King; a son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Debbie King of Columbus; a daughter, Michele Vecera of Centerville, Ind.; three sisters, Beulah Wentz of Warsaw, Ind., Ethel Samdal and Hazel Ponder, both of New Paris; four grandchildren, Zak King, Colin King, Jeremy Arnold and Jessica Vecera.

Miriam E. Somers
Miriam E. Somers, 74, of Eaton, died Saturday, June 10, at Grandview Hospital in Dayton.
Born May 13, 1926, in Dayton, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Edna (Brower) Landis. She was a member of the Eaton Church of the Brethren, and was a toddler Sunday school teacher.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Darlton T. "Tom" Somers, in 1996.
Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Somers of Eaton; and four nephews, Lloyd Meeks, Earle Meeks, George Meeks and Darrell Meeks.

Mary J. Dafler, 81, of Eaton, died Sunday, June 11, at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Ind.
Born Nov. 17, 1918, in West Alexandria, she was the daughter of the late Upton and Golda (Paxson) Dafler. She had worked as a nurses' aide.
Survivors include a sister, Margaret MtCastle of Eaton; and a sister-in-law, Hazel Dafler of Liberty, Ind.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Dafler and Upton Dafler Jr.; and sister, Rose Brown.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 14, at Fairview Cemetery, West Alexandria, with the Rev. Lowell Spencer officiating. There will be no public calling. Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Funeral Home, Eaton, is in charge of arrangements.
