Lorraine Stelts
Lorraine Stelts, 79, of Eaton, died Wednesday, April 2, 1997, at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Ind. She was a former resident of New Lebanon.
Born Nov. 6, 1917, in St. Paul, Minn., she was the daughter of Myer Paul and Kathryn (Dooney) Spiess. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in New Lebanon.
Survivors include her husband, Donald L. Stelts; two sons, Jack and Jimmy Stelts; two daughters, Donna Steger and Maureen Stelts; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Saturday, April 5, at Barnes Funeral Home-Preble Memory Gardens Chapel, West Alexandria, with the Rev. William M. O'Dell officiating. Burial was in Preble Memory Gardens, West Alexandria.

Jerry E. Nichols Sr.
Jerry E. Nichols Sr., 82, of West Alexandria, died Wednesday, April 2, 1997.
He retired in 1980 from the Bricklayers Local #22 after 33 years of service as a brick mason.
Mr. Nichols was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise (Scalise) Nichols, in 1979.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry E. Jr. and Dorothy Nichols of West Alexandria; two granddaughters, Kimberly Lightcap of Brookville and Connie Armold of Jacksonville, Ark.; a great-grandson, Christopher Scott Lightcap; and two sisters, Mary Ellen Gush and Geraldine Larkins, both of Pennsylvania.
Graveside services were Saturday, April 5, at Fairview Cemetery, West Alexandria. Dalton Funeral Home, Germantown, was in charge of arrangements.
Sarah L. Shiverdecker
Sarah L. Shiverdecker, 90, of Eaton, died Thursday, April 3, 1997, at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Ind.
Born Oct. 1, 1906, in Fruitdale, Ala., she was the daughter of the late George M. and Sarah (Annon) Haller, and had lived in Preble County most of her life.
Her husband, James H. Shiverdecker, died Nov. 1, 1992. Four sisters and four brothers are also deceased.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Saturday, April 5, at Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Funeral Home, Eaton, with the Rev. Raymond Rothwell officiating. Burial was in Pyrmont Cemetery.

Emma S. Wilhelm
Emma S. Wilhelm, 94, of Lima, died Friday, April 4, 1997, at Lima Health and Rehab.
Born June 12, 1902, in Dayton, she was the daughter of Elias and Emaline S. (Stump) Burkhead. She was a homemaker and former cook at Acres Restaurant in Lewisburg, and a past member of Orioles Lima Lodge #173.
Survivors include one son, Ralph L. (Fae) Byrne Sr. of Lima; four daughters, Betty L. Bell of Brookville, Lavina Jean (Dick) Reese of Blanchester, Hattie C. Raymond and Coral (Dick) Woodruff, both of Lima; one sister, Mabel Martin of Florida; 34 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren; and 44 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, David F. Byrne and Roy Byrne; one daughter, Ruth Cass; and two sisters, Myrtle Huddle and Martha Christman.
Funeral services were Tuesday, April 8, at Chiles and Sons-Laman Wayne Street Chapel, Lima, with the Rev. Dawna Boyes officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery.
James Cooper
James Cooper, 81, of Westbrook Road, Brookville, died unexpectedly Friday, April 4, 1997, at his home.
Born April 13, 1915, in Preble County, he was the son of George and Bertha (Gilbert) Cooper. He was retired from Paul Manufacturing in Lewisburg, and had also worked previously for General Motors and NCR. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Ingomar.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Ann Cooper of West Alexandria, David and Ellanore Cooper of Sealy, Texas; one daughter, Cristal Cooper of Kettering; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one brother, Charles M. Cooper of Eaton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Henrietta, in 1990; a brother, Lawrence Cooper; and a sister, Catherine Thomas.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 9, at St. John Lutheran Church, Enterprise Road, Ingomar, followed by burial in Fairview Cemetery, West Alexandria. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church. Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home, West Alexandria, is in charge of arrangements.

Paul W. Bowser
Paul W. Bowser, 86, of Marilee Drive, New Lebanon, died unexpectedly Saturday, April 5, 1997, at BrookHaven Nursing Home in Brookville.
Born Nov. 5, 1910, he was the son of John and Ida (Wogaman) Bowser. He was a farmer most of his life, and retired in 1972 from the New Lebanon School District, where he was employed as a bus driver. Mr. Bowser was a member of Grace Brethren Church in Brookville.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Florence Bowser, in 1979; two brothers, Harry Bowser and Charles Bowser; and a sister, Mary Flory.
Survivors include his wife of 17 years, T. Marie Bowser of New Lebanon; a stepson, Daniel Seim of New Lebanon; a stepdaughter, Margaret Elaine Dill of New Lebanon; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Tuesday, April 8, at Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home, West Alexandria, with the Rev. Henry Mallon officiating. Burial was in Sugar Hill Cemetery, West Alexandria.
Geneva W. Hoover
Geneva (Winkle) Hoover, 84, formerly of Camden, died Friday, April 4, 1997, at Woodland Country Manor Nusing Home near Somerville.
Born Sept. 5, 1912, in Estill County, Ky., she was the daughter of James Oscar and Edna (Crawford) Winkle. She worked for Delco Products for 28 years before retiring in 1975. Mrs. Hoover was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Camden for many years.
She was married to Charles Hoover on July 7, 1932, in Estill County, Ky.
Survivors include her husband, Charles of Camden; three daughters and sons-in-law, Yolonda and Ray Murphy of Camden, Norma and James Deem of Dayton, Inas and Carl Clark of Hamilton; three sons and daughters-in-law, William and Carolyn Hoover of Troy, Charles and Barbara Hoover of Chicago, Ill., Del C. and Pat Hoover of Eaton; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are four sisters, Lura Fowler of South Irvine, Ky., Mayfra Evans of Winchester, Ky., Edith Anderson of Hamilton and Mary Helen Garrett of Louisville, Ky.; three brothers, Carlo Winkle and Leighton Winkle, both of South Irvine, Ky., and Clay Winkle of Hamilton.
Funeral services were Monday, April 7, at the First Southern Baptist Church, Camden, with the Rev. Greg Jackson officiating. Burial was in Fairmount Cemetery, Camden. R.C. Nein and Sons Funeral Home, Camden, was in charge of arrangements.

Joseph A. Glick
Joseph A. Glick, 51, of Hot Springs, Ark., formerly of Eaton, died Sunday, March 16, 1997, at his home.
He was born July 28, 1945, in Richmond, Ind., was a 1963 graduate of Eaton High School and attended Ohio Northern University. He had resided in Arkansas for the past 10 years and was an accountant for Quality Inn Motel.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harry L. Glick, in 1969; and his mother, Ruth W. Glick, in 1996.
Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Lee Ann Glick of Middletown; two sisters, Joanne Bash of Rockford, Ohio, and Kay Jane Houser of Eaton; two nieces, Lori Houser of Norfolk, Va., and Jennifer Bash of Rockford; and one nephew, Mark Bash of Rockford.
Memorial services were held in Hot Springs, Ark. Graveside services were Saturday, March 22, at Mound Hill Union Cemetery, Eaton.
Hazel M. Acton
Hazel M. Acton, 70, of Verona, died Sunday, April 6, 1997, at her home.
Born Sept. 30, 1926, in Trotwood, she was the daughter of James Howard and Grace Marie (Waller) Guerrant. Mrs. Acton was a legal secretary for Steve Hobbs.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph P. Acton, in 1979; and brothers, Junior, Bruce, Robert and Gene Guerrant.
Survivors include a daughter, Diana J. Hamilton of Verona; sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis M. and Linda Acton of Verona, Douglas P. and Debra Acton of Dayton; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ethel and Robert Hauck of Bellbrook, Elsie Brammer of Englewood, Shirley and Harry Hobbs of Lewisburg, Wilma Howard of Medway, Doris and Jerry Vukovic of Union; seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Tuesday, April 8, at Barnes Funeral Home-Lewisburg Chapel, with the Rev. William Schilling officiating. Burial was in Verona Cemetery.

Myron B. Cail
Myron B. Cail, 75, of Eaton, died Monday, April 7, 1997, at his home.
Born Aug. 18, 1921, in Richmond, Ind., he was the son of John Roy and Hazel (Benham) Cail. He was a 1939 Jackson High School graduate and attended Earlham College in Richmond, Ind.
Mr. Cail was a Jackson Township farmer and retired in 1984 from Wayne Works in Richmond, Ind. He was a U.S. Marines veteran of World War II; a life member of American Legion Post 360, New Paris; and Marine Parachute Association.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Dorothy (Stewart) Cail; sons and daughters-in-law, Joe W. Cail, Thomas R. and Ayako Cail, James B. and Tammy Cail, all of Eaton, Jeffrey S. and Kathleen Cail of Cincinnati; a daughter and son-in-law, Marna L. and Kenneth Bloom of Connersville, Ind.
Also surviving are brothers, William R. Cail and John M. Cail, both of Eaton, and Norman Cail of Longmont, Colo.; a sister, Ruth Ann Fisher of Columbia, Ind.; five grandchildren, Stephanie, Beth, Amanda, Jacob and Benjamin Cail; a great-grandson, Austin Cail; nieces nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Julie Ann Cail, in 1957; and two sisters, Carolyn Spahr, in 1990, and Frances C. Campbell, in 1995.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 10, at Barnes Funeral Home-New Paris Chapel, 109 W. Main St., New Paris, with the Rev. James Sizelove officiating. Burial will be in Springlawn Cemetery, New Paris. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, at the funeral home.
