Delmer Elliott
Delmer Elliott, 72, of Camden, died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 1996, at McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital in Oxford.
Born Jan. 21, 1924, in Lincoln County, Ky., he was the son of Virgil and Effie May (Crump) Elliott. He was employed as a machinist with Hamilton Tool in Hamilton for 25 years, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Faye (Fugate) Elliott, whom he married Jan. 20, 1950; one daughter, Donna Rogers of Eaton; seven sons, Allen (Wilma) Elliott of Middletown, Terry (Gail) Elliott of West Alexandria, Rick (Julie) Elliott of Cincinnati, William (Virginia) Elliott of Dayton, James (Sandy) Elliott of Eaton, David Randal Elliott of Charlotte, N.C., Ken (Kellie) Elliott of Eaton; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Dorothy Carpenter of Camden.
Funeral services were Saturday, Nov. 30, at R.C. Nein and Sons Funeral Home, Camden, with the Rev. Arvil Dean officiating. Burial was in Fairmount Cemetery, Camden.
Dorothy C. Landis
Dorothy C. Landis, 93, of Brookville, died Tuesday evening, Dec. 3, 1996, at Grace Brethren Village in Englewood after an extended illness.
Born Sept. 13, 1903, in Gratis (Preble County), she was the daughter of Enos and Bertha (Brubaker) Eikenberry.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Landis, in 1976; a brother, Milford Eikenberry; a sister, Alice Miller; and one great-grandchild.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Esther Catherine and Ramon Denlinger of Tipp City, Lois E. Denlinger of Arcanum, and Loveda M. and David Balsbaugh of Brookville; 14 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
A prayer service was held Saturday morning, Dec. 7, at Kindred-Barnes Funeral Home, Englewood, followed by funeral services at Salem Old German Baptist Brethren Church, Clayton, with the Home Brethren officiating. Burial was in Royal Oak Memorial Gardens near Brookville.
Lydia K. Drayer
Lydia K. Drayer, 92, of Miamisburg, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 1996.
Born Oct. 17, 1904, in Preble County, she was the daughter of Charles and Margaret (Somers) McGee, and had lived in the Dayton area most of her life. She was a member of the Advance Club of Miamisburg.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, William B. Drayer, in August 1986.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, William B. Drayer Jr. of Johnson City, Tenn., James C. and Jacqueline Drayer of New Lebanon, John P. and Ann Drayer of Centerville, Ohio; a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia L. and Kenneth Bornhorst of Kettering; 16 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Two brothers, John and Joseph McGee; and four sisters, Grace Morris, Isabelle Geis, Loretta Eggers and Charlotte McGee, are also deceased.
Funeral Mass was Friday, Dec. 6, at Visitation Catholic Church, Eaton, with the Rev. Ralph Lawrence officiating. Burial was in Mound Hill Union Cemetery, Eaton. Barnes Funeral Home-Eaton Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Claude Thomas
Claude Thomas, 73, of Fairhaven, died unexpectedly Tuesday evening, Dec. 3, 1996, at his home.
Born Dec. 3, 1923, in Menifee County, Ky., he was the son of John Henry and Effie (Bashford) Thomas. He attended Ohio State Agricultural School and taught agriculture education at Dixon High School. He farmed in Preble County for many years, and retired from Morman Manufacturing Company in 1979.
Mr. Thomas was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, was a member of Fairhaven Community Church and an elder of the church, a member of the Gideons and the National Rifle Association.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Mary Louise (Lybrook) Thomas; a son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Jennifer Thomas of Camden; two daughters and sons-in-law, Evelyn and Francis Panzer of Tampa, Fla., and Verna and Mike Faulkner of Wilmington; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Orville and Audrey Thomas.
Funeral services were Saturday, Dec. 7, at Fairhaven Community Church, with the Rev. Carl Smith officiating. Burial was in Fairhaven Cemetery. R.C. Nein and Sons Funeral Home, Camden, was in charge of arrangements.
Hazel M. Pruett
Hazel M. Pruett, 87, formerly of 203 E. Cherry St., New Paris, died unexpectedly Friday, Dec. 6, 1996, in Richmond, Ind.
Born July 29, 1908, in Wayne County, Ind., she was the daughter of John Q. and Gertrude (Wilson) Wadsworth, and had lived in New Paris since 1951. She had worked at Avco Corp. in Richmond, and was a member of the New Paris Church of Christ.
Mrs. Pruett was preceded in death by her first husband, Eliphalet M. Killen, in 1952; and her second husband, Frank K. Pruett, in 1989.
Survivors include one son, Bill C. Killen of New Paris; one daughter, Nancy J. Chappel of Camden; a half sister, Helen Richardson of Hagerstown, Ind.; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Monday, Dec. 9, at Barnes Funeral Home-New Paris Chapel, with the Rev. Don Boyer officiating. Burial was in Springlawn Cemetery, New Paris.

Harry B. Keller
Harry B. Keller, 88, of Eaton, died Friday, Dec. 6, 1996, at Franciscan Medical Center in Dayton after an extended illness.
A native and lifelong resident of Preble County, he was born Sept. 23, 1908, the son of the late Samuel H. and Ada (Williams) Keller. He was a retired farmer and a member of Campbellstown United Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Louise (Dwire) Keller; a son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Christa Keller of Brookville; a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Jim McWhinney of New Paris; five grandchildren; two sisters, Mildred Paxton of Camden and Jeannette Parks of Dayton; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Hubert Keller, Floyd Keller, George Keller, Wayne Keller and Darrell "Jack" Keller.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Dec. 10, at Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Funeral Home, Eaton, with the Rev. James C. Sizelove officiating. Burial was in Fairmount Cemetery, Camden.

Roscoe Akers
Roscoe Akers, 71, of Sunset Place, Germantown, died Saturday, Dec. 7, 1996, in Dayton.
Born Aug. 1, 1925, in Preble County, he was the son of Lloyd and Bessie (Lane) Akers. He retired from River Raine in Dayton. Mr. Akers was a U.S. Marine veteran of World War II, having served in the South Pacific. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Dayton, Masonic Lodge 660 and a member of AASR.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Gloria Akers; a son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Lynne Akers of Bartelsville, Okla.; a grandson, Cash Sanders; three brothers, Maurice Akers of Middletown, Charles Akers of West Alexandria and Ronal Akers of Missouri; and four sisters, Geraldine Storer of Germantown, Margaret Oda of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Lillian Papie of New Lebanon and Joanne Dillon of Eaton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Vernice Akers.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Dec. 10, at Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home, Gratis, with the Rev. Larry Rezash officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, Gratis.

Wanda A. Dawson
Wanda A. Dawson, 79, of Lewisburg, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 1996, following a lengthy illness. She formerly resided in New Lebanon.
She attended Slifer's Presbyterian Church near Farmersville.
Mrs. Dawson was preceded in death by her husband, Louie W. Dawson, on Aug. 9, 1996; and by a daughter, Winona Smith.
Survivors include two daughters, Beulah Reel of Lewisburg and Ruby Hood of Arcanum; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Russell Kerschner of West Alexandria; and a sister, Thora Breitlow of Lakeland, Fla.
Funeral services were Saturday, Dec. 7, at Rogers Funeral Home, New Lebanon, with Pastor Doris Arnett officiating. Burial was in Sugar Grove Cemetery near West Alexandria.

George E. Miller Sr.
George E. Miller Sr., 84, of Eaton died Thursday, Nov. 28, 1996, at Oxford at the home of his daughter, Janet Wyatt.
Born Dec. 5, 1911, in Covington, Ky., he was the eldest son of Jonas and Lucy (Bowling) Miller. He and his wife had resided in Preble County at 3068 U.S. 127 North since 1974. He was employed by the Eaton Post Office for 10 years as a rural substitute mail carrier until retiring in April 1984. He attended Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Clarabelle (Hoffman) Miller; sons and daughters-in-law, George Jr. and Wilda Miller of Eaton and David and Janet Miller of Oxford; daughters and son-in-law, Carol Works of Shandon, Janet Wyatt of Oxford, Peggy and Dale Wilkinson of New York; 26 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Joseph, Clifford and Jack Miller of northern Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Paul.
A memorial service was held Sunday, Dec. 1, at the Oxford Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. Burial was in Preble Memory Gardens near West Alexandria. Smith and Ogle Funeral Home, Oxford, was in charge of arrangements.
Mary D. Wood
Mary Dee Wood, 79, of Ohio 122, Camden, died Monday, Dec. 9, 1996, at Oxford View Nursing Home in Oxford.
Born Feb. 18, 1917, in Kentucky, was the daughter of Omar and Ella (Wilson) Calvert. She was a member of the United First Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Wood.
Survivors include four daughters, Mary Jo Wilson and Stella Wood, both of Camden, Peggy Elam of Eaton, and Joyce Johnson of Jacksonville, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Thomas Calvert of Atlanta, Ga. and Everett Calvert of Lexington, Ky.; and a sister, Lela Hamilton of Lexington, Ky.
She was also preceded in death by two grandchildren; three brothers, Russell, Roger and Conway Calvert; and two sisters, Mamie Wells and Gracie Mae Calvert.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, at the United First Church of God in Beechwood, with the Rev. James Profitt officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Gratis. Alvis D. Patton
Alvis D. Patton, 55, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Dec. 10, 1996, in Miamisburg.
Born Aug. 31, 1941, in Dayton, he was the son of Vernon and Vera (Miller) Patton. He was employed by Hamm Lumber in Gratis.
Survivors include three sisters, Myrna Hensley of Gratis, Sharon Azbill and Beverly Tester, both of Miamisburg; one brother, Vurlin Patton of Campton, Ky.; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Friday, Dec. 13, at Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home, Gratis, followed by burial in Fairview Cemetery Gratis.
