Roy Jordan
Roy Jordan, 90, of Jordan Road, West Alexandria, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 1996, at Westview Acres Care Center in Eaton.
Born July 11, 1906, in Twin Township, he was the son of Orion and Ollie (Shellenbarger) Jordan. He was a farmer all his life, and a member of Shiloh Lutheran Church, Lewisburg.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Mary Jordan; a daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Bill Ruebush of West Alexandria; a son, Steven Jordan of West Alexandria; three granddaughters, Kristina, Amber and Tammie Ruebush, all of West Alexandria; two brothers, Earl Jordan of Eaton and Jesse Jordan of Circleville; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Saturday, Dec. 14, at Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home, West Alexandria, with the Rev. Kenneth Vetter officiating. Burial was in Sugar Grove Cemetery near West Alexandria.
Richard I. Poock
Richard I. Poock, 74, of Lewisburg, died Sunday, Dec. 8, 1996, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton after a brief illness.
He was retired as an electrician for IBEW #82, served in the U.S. Navy in World War II and worked for the CCC prior to his Navy service. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Brookville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, in 1986.
Survivors include two sons, Michael Poock of Lewisburg and Richard Poock of Union; a daughter, Linda McIntosh of Ludlow Falls; grandchildren, Corinna McIntosh, Brittany and Bradley Poock; and one sister, Sue Keefer of Trotwood.
Funeral services were Friday, Dec. 13, at the First United Methodist Church, Brookville, with the Rev. Keith R. Eipper officiating. Burial was in Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. Gilbert-Fellers Funeral Home, Brookville, was in charge of arrangements.

Robert E. Slusser
Robert E. Slusser, 74, of Eldorado, died Monday, Dec. 9, 1996, at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Ind.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include two sons and daughter-in-law, Ronnie E. and Darlene Slusser of Dayton, and Geneo R. Slusser of Brookville; three daughters and sons-in-law, Linda K. and Harold Commons of Eldorado, Diane J. and Wayne Evans of Camden, Roxann E. and Pete Howard of Eldorado; 21 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Florence Terlinda of Pittsburgh, Calif.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Tony F. Baker.
Funeral services were Saturday, Dec. 14, at Gilbert-Fellers Funeral Home, Brookville, with the Rev. Marvin Hocker officiating. Burial was in Arlington Cemetery, Brookville.
Vernon D. McQueen
Vernon D. McQueen, 69, of Waynesville Road, Waynesville, died Saturday, Dec. 14, 1996, at Lebanon Health Care Center, where he had been a resident for the past two and a half years.
Born Feb. 14, 1927, in Jackson County, Ky., he was the son of John W. and Sudie (Collinsworth) McQueen. He had lived in the Waynesville area for the past 12 years. Mr. McQueen retired in 1969 after 21 years with the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He had worked for Reynolds & Reynolds in Dayton, and was a missionary for six years prior to his illness. He was a member of Lebanon Baptist Temple.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Eula (Hellard) McQueen; one son, John T. McQueen of Bowersville, Ga.; one daughter, Stephanie J. Gresham of Dayton; three brothers, Hardin B. Collins, Lawrence J. "Jimmy" McQueen, both of Moraine, and Vivian McQueen of Cheyenne, Wyo.; three sisters, Helen Smitt of Cherino, Texas, Nora Lawson of Richmond, Ky., and Dora Minter of Irvin, Ky.; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Dec. 17, at Barnes Funeral Home-Preble Memory Gardens Chapel, West Alexandria, with Dr. Allen Jones and Evangelist Richard Drummond officiating. Burial was in Preble Memory Gardens, West Alexandria.

Carrie Bianci
Carrie Bianci, 89, of Parkway Avenue, Dayton, died Saturday, Dec. 14, 1996, at Mercy Siena Woods Nursing Home.
Born Dec. 13, 1907, in Preble County, she was the daughter of Charles and Della (Creager) Baker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel, in 1978; two brothers, Jess Baker and Harry C. Baker; and one sister, Dorothea James Burtner.
Survivors include two nieces and one nephew.
Funeral services will be at noon Wednesday, Dec. 18, at Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home, West Alexandria, with the Rev. Dr. James Altenbaumer officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until time of services on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sugar Grove Cemetery, West Alexandria.

Samuel J. Schiml
Samuel J. Schiml, 88, formerly of West Alexandria, died Saturday morning, Dec. 14, 1996, at Maria Joseph Living Care Center in Dayton, where he had been a resident since February 1994.
Born Oct. 31, 1908, in Dayton, he was the son of Michael Lawrence and Edith (Helmig) Schiml. He was a 1925 graduate of Stivers High School in Dayton, and worked for Dayton Power and Light Co. for 43 years, retiring in 1970 as vice-president and comptroller. He was a member of Visitation Catholic Church in Eaton and the Knights of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Mayno M. Schiml, in October 1995; two sons, Norbert and Daniel Schiml; a grandson, Austin Lee Schiml; a brother, Michael Schiml; and a sister, Alma Grossman.
Survivors include four sons, Bernard L. Schiml of Dayton, Joseph E. Schiml, Samuel L. Schiml and Frederick A. Schiml, all of West Alexandria; four daughters, Donna M. Loeber of Farmington, N.M., Susan J. Schiml and Jeannine C. Kenney, both of Indianapolis, Ind., and Barbara C. Baker of Port Saint Lucie, Fla.
Also surviving are three brothers, Thomas, James and William Schiml; three sisters, Dorothy, Julia and Patricia; 13 grandchildren, Joan, Patricia, Ann, Teresa, Loretta, Kimberley, Angela, John, Stephen, Anthony, Andrew, Laura and Marie; and three great-grandchildren, Andi, Lauren and Luke.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, at Visitation Catholic Church, Eaton, with the Rev. Ralph Lawrence officiating. Burial will be in Sugar Grove Cemetery near West Alexandria. Barnes Funeral Home-Eaton Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Clarence E. Shuler
Clarence E. Shuler, 75, of Hollansburg Road, New Paris, died unexpectedly Sunday, Dec. 15, 1996, at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Ind.
Born April 22, 1921, in Tennessee, he was the son of Daniel S. and Lillie Mae (Harris) Shuler. He moved to New Paris in 1960. Mr. Shuler retired in 1983 from Beldon Corporation in Richmond after more than 30 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the First Baptist Church of New Paris.
Survivors include his wife, Irene Shuler; two sons, the Rev. Bill Shuler of Miamisburg and Randy Shuler of Richmond, Ind.; one daughter, Fern Guenther of New Paris; one brother, Wilson Shuler of Cedar Creek, Mo.; one sister, Louise Newman of Richmond, Ind.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, at Barnes Funeral Home-New Paris Chapel, with the Rev. David J. Fisher officiating. Burial will be in Springlawn Cemetery, New Paris.

Jean R. Swihart
Jean R. Swihart, 73, of 451 N. Main St., Eldorado, died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 1996, at his home.
Born Oct. 14, 1923, in Eldorado, he was the son of Raymond and Edith (Null) Swihart. He was the Eldorado postmaster from 1953-1981 and had worked previously at Johns Manville in Richmond, Ind. He was a member of the BPO Elks Lodge, Richmond, Ind.; a U.S. Marines veteran; Amvets Post 726, Eldorado; American Legion, West Manchester; National League of Postmasters; and a former member of the Eldorado Fire Department.
Survivors include his wife, June (Stayton) Swihart; three daughters, Luana Swihart, Roxann Miller and Kathy Miller, all of Eldorado; a son, Kurt Swihart of New Paris; three sisters, Dorothy Johnson of Naples, Fla., Betty Wigginton of Richmond, Ind., and Barbara Fisher of Jacksonville, Fla.; a brother, Harold Swihart of Eldorado; grandchildren, Kari Jo Lee, Kendra and Kortney Swihart, Chad, Brady and Trent Miller; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Richie; and a brother, Charles Swihart.
Funeral services were Saturday, Dec. 14, at Bussard-Barnes-Vaniman Funeral Home, Eldorado with the Rev. Kathryn Hawbaker officiating. Burial was in Monroe Cemetery at Eldorado.

Kathleen I. Reckers
Kathleen Imogene Reckers, 78, of 302 New Paris Ave., New Paris, died Monday, Dec. 16, 1996, at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Ind.
Born Oct. 24, 1918, in Washington, Ind., she was the daughter of Joseph Patrick and Alma M. (Alberti) Mattingly. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and St. Ann's Sodality, New Paris.
Mrs. Reckers was preceded in death by her husband, John William Milburn Reckers, in 1956; and a sister, Margaret Mattingly.
Survivors include six daughters, Janice K. Harris, Ruth Ann Bass and Carolyn Ann Mansfield, all of New Paris, Judy Ann Smith of Spring Grove, Va., Margaret Sue Reckers of Gratis, Sue Marie Hinshaw of Tipp City and Marilyn Sue Burgoon of Richmond Ind.; three sons, John "Jack" William Reckers of Tucson, Ariz., Robert Joseph Reckers of Fountain City, Ind., and Thomas Leo Reckers of Richmond, Ind.
Also surviving are four brothers, Harold, Richard, Gene and Don Mattingly, all of Washington, Ind.; two sisters, Eleanor Sturgeon of Washington, Ind., and Shirley Bunte of Bruceville, Ind.; 24 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, at St. John's Catholic Church, New Paris, with the Rev. Ralph Lawrence officiating. Burial will be in Springlawn Cemetery, New Paris. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, at Barnes Funeral Home-New Paris Chapel, 109 W. Main St., New Paris, with a Rosary service at 8 p.m.

John J. Stover Sr.
John J. Stover Sr., 87, of U.S. 35 West, Eaton, died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 1996, at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Ind.
Born Aug. 31, 1909, in Preble County, he was the son of Ross P. and Bessie E. (Duke) Stover. He was a retired Preble County Sheriff, serving from 1960 to 1972.
Mr. Stover was a member of the Republican National Committee, Seniors Coalition/United Seniors Association, a member of the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare, IOOF of Eaton and a member of the Eaton Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Mildred E. Stover; two sons, James C. and John J. Stover Jr., both of Eaton; two daughters, Grace Davis of West Alexandria and Bonnie J. Mowen of Eaton; a foster son, William D. Hilbert of Florida.
Also surviving are two sisters, Mildred Gall of Tipp City and Ruth Gallager of Watertown, N.Y.; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Ross Stover Jr. in 1992; and four grandchildren, Kevin L. Mowen in 1957, John Alvin Stover in 1959, Matthew L., Mark L. and Luke L. Davis in 1963.
Funeral services were Saturday, Dec. 21, at Barnes Funeral Home-Eaton Chapel, with the Rev. Lowell T. Spencer and the Rev. John Bredwell officiating. Burial was in Mound Hill Union Cemetery, Eaton.

Raymond M. Boling
Raymond M. Boling, 84, of Gina Drive, Eaton, died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 1996, at the VA Medical Center Hospital in Dayton.
Born Dec. 4, 1912, in Hamilton, he was the son of James W. and Anna E. (Ashbrook) Boling. He was a self-employed contractor, a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II, a member of the BPO Elks Lodge #1250 of Red Bluff, Calif., California State Sheriff's Association, Tehama County (Calif.) Honorary Deputy Sheriff.
Survivors include one brother, Norman V. Boling of Alaska; four sisters, Imogene Craig of Columbia, Texas, Buelah J. "Peg" Hall of Globe, Ariz., Janis L. Michael and Eda "Edith" Mikesell, both of Eaton; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Galley (Finewska) Boling, in 1983; four brothers, Paul K. Boling in 1910, George B. Boling in 1993, Clem H. Boling in 1923, Wallace E. Boling in 1953; and three sisters, Ruby L. Boling in 1916, Leslie N. McGill in 1943 and Lula M. Kalbfleisch in 1985.
Private funeral services were held at the convenience of the family. Barnes Funeral Home-Eaton Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
