Beulah L. Overholts
Beulah L. Overholts, 74, of North Maple Street, Eaton, died Sunday, Dec. 21, 1997, at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Ind.
Born Aug. 22, 1923, in Eaton, she was the daughter of Nelson and Zelma C. (Helton) Weatherly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Albert Overholts, in 1993; and two brothers, Kenneth Nelson Weatherly, in 1988, and Russell M. Weatherly, in 1990.
Survivors include one daughter, Berneda Jane Lainhart of Eaton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Albert Leon and Lova Overholts of Peoria, Ariz., Russell A. and Sheila Overholts of Hillsboro; an adopted son, Keith E. Overholts of Eaton; two sisters, Elsie C. Weatherly of California and Ida Mae Wysong of Imperial Beach, Calif.; one brother, Howard F. Weatherly of Eaton; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 24, at Barnes Funeral Home-Eaton Chapel, with the Rev. Richard Van Tine officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery, Camden.

Barbara A. Fitch
Barbara A. Fitch, 70, of Eaton, died Monday, Dec. 22, 1997, at Grandview Hospital in Dayton.
Born Sept. 28, 1927, in Richardson, Ky., she was the daughter of the late John and Ella (Butcher) Vanhoose. Mrs. Fitch had been employed by the City of Trotwood. She attended Full Gospel Temple.
Survivors include her husband, Bill C. Fitch; two sons, Marvin Fitch of West Alexandria and Jeff Fitch of Dayton; one daughter, Ramona Carol Strecker of Cincinnati; one brother, Paul David Vanhoose of Springfield; four sisters, Evelyn Fitch of Lakeland, Fla., Joada Stacy and Jonella Vanhoose, both of Eaton, and Ruth Ann Adkins of Port Washington, Ohio; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by 13 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, at Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Funeral Home, 226 W. Main St., Eaton, with the Rev. Raymond E. Rothwell officiating. Burial will be in Sugar Grove Cemetery, West Alexandria. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 26, at the funeral home.

Darla R. House
Darla R. House, 37, of Greenville, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 1997, at Wayne Hospital in Greenville.
She was born July 13, 1960, in Dayton. She had worked for Wayne Industries and had attended Anthony Wayne School in Greenville.
Survivors include her mother, Helen Joyce (Ketring) House of Greenville; and a brother, Michael Ray House of California.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ross W. House, in 1978; and a brother, Paul Jean House, in 1972.
Funeral services were Friday, Dec. 12, at Bussard-Barnes-Vaniman Funeral Home, Eldorado, with the Rev. Terry Haworth officiating. Burial was in Twin Creek Chapel Cemetery, West Manchester.
Alan C. Henwood
Alan C. Henwood, 64, of 318 S. Ash St., Centerville, Ind., died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 1997, at Reid Hospital in Richmond following a short illness.
Born June 6, 1933, in Centerville, he was the son of Wayne W. and Ruth (Plankenhorn) Henwood. He was a lifelong resident of the Centerville-Abington area. A 1951 graduate of Centerville High School, he was a former farmer and retired employee of Design and Manufacturing Company.
Mr. Henwood was a 50-year member of Centerville Christian Church. He had previously served as a Wayne County adult 4-H leader for nine years. He had been a volunteer with the Abington Township Fire Department. He was a member of Richmond Moose Lodge #167 and a member of the Fellowship Degree of the Legion of the Moose where he currently was an official. He was a member of the Council of Higher Degree and a member of Druids Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce (Hofmann) Henwood, whom he married June 8, 1952; three daughters, Cheryl Rodenberg of Akron, Ind., Sonja Lunsford of Centerville, Ind., and Iris Marcum of Eaton; one son, Dale A. Henwood of Centerville, Ind.; seven grandchildren; one brother, Robert D. Henwood of Cincinnati; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a grandson, Michael Wade Lunsford.
Funeral services were Saturday, Dec. 13, at Mills Funeral Home, Centerville, Ind., with the Rev. Steve Abernathy officiating. Burial was in Doddridge Chapel Cemetery near Centerville.

William R. LaMar
William Reese "Bill" LaMar, 81, of 505 W. State Road 44, Liberty, Ind., died early Monday morning, Dec. 8, 1997, at his home.
Born Oct. 5, 1916, in Preble County, he was the son of Arthur Stubbs and Alma Caroline (Reese) LaMar. He had lived in Union County for 47 years and prior to that had farmed in Preble County, including Maple Front Farm, until 1950, then moved to Union County where he worked for Julian Logue in a farming operation until 1960.
He was then employed by Miami University in Oxford as a houseman, including 26 years at Symmes Hall, until his retirement in 1986. He enjoyed the outdoors, observing deer and birds, and being active in his yard and garden.
Survivors include his wife, Helen (West) LaMar, whom he married Feb. 17, 1943; one son, James M. LaMar of Liberty, Ind.; one daughter and son-in-law, Nancy L. and Howard Huntington of Hawthorn Woods, Ill.; two sisters, Helen Oldfather of Eaton and Martha Kelly of Richmond, Ind.; five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Gordon LaMar; and his parents.
Funeral services were Thursday, Dec. 11, at Salem Friends Church, Union County, Ind., followed by burial in Salem Cemetery, Union County, Ind. Showalter-Blackwell Funeral Home, Baker-Fosdick Chapel, Liberty, Ind., was in charge of arrangements.

Ilene M. Shade
Ilene Marie Shade, 72, of Hazard, Ky., and formerly of New Paris, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 1997, at Hazard Medical Center.
Born May 26, 1925, in Richmond, Ind., she was the daughter of Gordon and Uleva (Trusty) Basham.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Shade, in 1982.
Survivors include two daughters, Roxanna Lynn Smith of Cottageville, S.C., and Rhoda Claudean Oakley of Hazard, Ky.; a stepdaughter, Dixie Carol Black of Fountain City, Ind.; two sisters, Sondra Lee Reyer of Montana and Cheryl Jean Miller of Ohio; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Graveside services were Friday, Dec. 12, at Springlawn Cemetery, New Paris. Barnes Funeral Home-New Paris Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
Herbert J. Coleman
Herbert J. Coleman, 93, of 104 W. North St., Gratis, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 1997, at his home.
Born March 8, 1904, he was the son of Alonzo "Lon" and Mary Margaret (Wilkins) Coleman. He was the owner and operator of Coleman's Market and Variety Store in Gratis for the last 60 years. He had worked for Gratis as the first water superintendent, on the Gratis Police Department and was a school bus driver for 18 years.
He was a dedicated lifelong member of Gratis United Methodist Church, was a member of the Gratis Odd Fellows Lodge and an honorary fireman.
Mr. Coleman distributed his handmade wooden toys by the thousands to all children of the area, and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Grace Loucille (Kesler) Coleman; two daughters and son-in-law, Mary Majel Coleman of Dayton, Elizabeth Viola and James A. Beckett of Gratis; a sister-in-law, Eva L. Kesler of Gratis; eight foster children; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Arthur, Ralph and Earl Coleman; and three sisters, Lucille Coleman, Bessie Morningstar and May Silvers.
Funeral services were Saturday, Dec. 13, at Gratis United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Harlan Sorensen and the Rev. Hearon Carmack officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, Gratis. Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Alta M. Bish
Alta Mae Bish, 106, formerly of 303 SW 5th St., Richmond, Ind., died Thursday, Dec. 11, 1997, at Woodland Country Manor, Oxford.
Born Aug. 29, 1891, in Randolph County, Ind., she was the daughter of Charles M. and Louella (Johnson) Hill. She had been a resident of Richmond most of her life. She was a 1911 graduate of Fountain City High School and a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include three grandsons, Robert D. Ketring of Camden, James W. Ketring of Union, Ky., and Thomas M. Ketring of Lawrenceville, Ga.; one stepdaughter, Inez Plummer of California; one stepson, Raymond Bish of Roseburg, Ore.; seven great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin A. Bish, in 1968; her first husband, Wesley Ketring, in 1940; and a son, Marvin J. Ketring, in 1992.
Funeral services were Saturday, Dec. 13, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, Richmond, Ind., with the Rev. Glen McGuire officiating. Burial was in Arba Cemetery.
Nathaniel V. Cloyd
Nathaniel Van Cloyd, infant son of Rodney V. and Davie Lee (Palmer) Cloyd of Hillsdale, Mich., was stillborn Tuesday, Dec. 9, 1997, at Hillsdale Community Health Center there.
Surviving, in addition to his parents, are a sister, Beth Cloyd of North Carolina; grandfather, Jerry Cloyd of Florida; and grandmother, Lola Williams of Columbus, Ind.
Graveside services were Friday, Dec. 12, at Mound Hill Union Cemetery, Eaton, with the Rev. Wayne D. Morrison officiating. Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Funeral Home, Eaton, was in charge of arrangements.
Martha O. Britton
Martha O. Britton, 72, of Eaton, formerly of West Manchester, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 1997, at her home.
Born June 21, 1925, in Lewisburg, she was the daughter of Hugh O. and Freida (Mader) James. She formerly worked for Lewisburg Container Co. for 12 years, and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lewisburg.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Richard Nisewonder of Richmond, Ind., Nancy and Greg Kern of Eaton; three grandchildren, Becky and David Nisewonder and Brandon Kern; five sisters, Helen Glander of West Manchester, Betty Lou Heindl of Lewisburg, Maggie Studebaker, Dorothy White and Eileen Beane, all of Eaton; and two brothers, Harold James of Lewisburg and Junior James of Eaton.
Funeral services were Monday, Dec. 15, at Barnes Funeral Home-Preble Memory Gardens Chapel, West Alexandria, with the Rev. Wayne D. Morrison officiating. Burial was in Preble Memory Gardens.
