Lee E. Stegall
Lee Earl Stegall, 51, of Orangeburg Road, New Paris, died Friday, Dec. 12, 1997, at his home.
Born Jan. 16, 1946, in Richmond, Ind., he was the son of Carl Henry and Bessie Leona (Brown) Stegall. He was a 1964 graduate of Jefferson High School. He was employed by A.O. Smith in Tipp City, and had formerly worked at NATCO in Richmond, Ind.
Mr. Stegall coached baseball and softball in New Paris and was a National Trail Volunteer. He was a member of the New Paris Boosters Club.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Sandra D. (Ward) Stegall; a son, Jason C. Stegall of New Paris; a daughter, Lori L. Stegall of New Paris; and a sister, Carlene Stegall of Richmond, Ind.
Funeral services were Monday, Dec. 15, at Barnes Funeral Home-New Paris Chapel, with the Rev. Kathryn Hawbaker officiating. Burial was in Springlawn Cemetery, New Paris.

Grace E. Ogg
Grace Erma Ogg, 93, of Eaton, formerly of Hamilton, died Friday evening, Dec. 12, 1997, at Greenbriar Nursing Center.
Born Feb. 18, 1904, in Hamilton, she was the daughter of Henry and Louise (Otto) Montgomery. She worked for Whirlpool in Hamilton for 16 years and Ft. Hamilton-Hughes Memorial Hospital for nine years. She was a member of the Southern Hills Baptist Church, where she had taught Sunday school since 1954; and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), Ft. Hamilton Council #109.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Faye and Von Ratliff of Eaton, Mary Jane and John Sapp of New Castle, Ind.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; eight brothers and sister.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Dec. 16, at Southern Hills Baptist Church, Hamilton, with her grandson, the Rev. Eric Sapp, officiating. Burial was in Venice Cemetery. Webb-Noonan Funeral Home, Hamilton, was in charge of arrangements.
Frank Toebbe
Frank Toebbe, 54, of Villa Hills, Ky., died unexpectedly Saturday, Dec. 13, 1997, near Eaton.
Born Aug. 27, 1943, in Covington, Ky., he was the son of the late Frank Joseph and Marjorie (Mulvey) Toebbe. He received his bachelor of arts degree from Thomas Moore College. He was employed as a manager at Cinergy for 36 years.
Survivors include his wife, Janet (Kordenbrock) Toebbe, whom he married Sept. 14, 1963; two sons and daughters-in-law, Frank Andrew and Laura Toebbe, Peter William and Bonnie Toebbe; a daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Danny Dailey; six grandchildren; a brother, Mark J. Toebbe; a sister, Mary Jo Niehause; and a sister-in-law, Rose Mary Kordenbrock.
Mass took place Tuesday, Dec. 16, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Camden. R.C. Nein & Sons-Limber Funeral Home/Willard Moss Jr. Memorial Chapel, Camden, was in charge of arrangements.

Glenn R. Fudge
Glenn R. Fudge, 75, of Eaton, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 1997, at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Ind., after a six-month illness.
A native and lifelong resident of Preble County, he was born Nov. 14, 1922, the son of Christian and Anna (Ott) Fudge. He was a retired driver from Beoddy Oil Company, and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Mr. Fudge was a member of Grace Lutheran Church; Bolivar Lodge #82, F&AM of Eaton; a life member of VFW Post 8066 of Eaton; and the Southwestern Buckeye Camping Club.
Survivors include his wife, Marguerite (Root) Fudge, whom he married May 23, 1947; a daughter, Connie Fudge of Fairborn; three sisters, Evelyn Millikin of West Alexandria, Pauline Borgwardt of Eaton and Josephine Storer of Richmond, Ind.; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, at Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Funeral Home, Eaton, with the Rev. Brian Dillahunt officiating. Burial will be in Preble Memory Gardens, West Alexandria.

Richard G. Handley
Richard G. "Dick" Handley, 97, formerly of Ohio 122 South, Eaton, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 1997, at Heartland of Eaton.
Born Jan. 12, 1900, in Cabell County, W. Va., he was the son of Frank W. and Augusta Mae (Saunders) Handley. He retired in 1969 from the U.S. Department of Agriculture after 35 years.
Mr. Handley was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Eaton; Sons of the American Revolution; Bolivar Lodge #82, F&AM of Eaton; Preble County Historical Society; "OPEDA," Organization of Professional Society of the U.S. Department of Agriculture; National Association of Retired Federal Employees; and American Association of Retired Persons.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Roland Brubaker and Marilyn "Lynn" Handley of Leesburg, Fla.; a daughter and son-in-law, Virginia and Joseph Dafler of Winston-Salem, N.C.; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith E. (Brubaker) Handley, in 1986; sisters, Catherine Baker, in 1994, and Ruth Horine, in 1996; four brothers, Clark W. Handley, in 1995, Bernard F. Handley, in 1990, James C. Handley, in 1988, and Charles Handley, in 1959.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, 1998, at the First Presbyterian Church, Eaton, with the Rev. Wayne D. Morrison officiating. Burial will be in Mound Hill Union Cemetery, Eaton. Barnes Funeral Home-Eaton Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Bessie G. Mikesell
Bessie G. Mikesell, 91, of 1213 Hunt St., Richmond, Ind., died Monday, Dec. 15, 1997, at Reid Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Born Feb. 5, 1906, in Corbin, Ky., she was the daughter of Jeptha and Harriett (Floyd) Morgan. She had spent most of her life in the Richmond area and attended Richmond schools. She retired in 1971 from Belden Wire and Cable Company, where she had worked for 44 years.
Survivors include her husband, Willard H. Mikesell, whom she married Dec. 12, 1936; one daughter, Cleora Freshwater of Centerville, Ind.; one granddaughter, Jody Stewart of Plantation, Fla.; nieces and nephews.
Two sisters and two brothers are deceased.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, Richmond, Ind., with the Rev. Glenn W. McGuire officiating. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery, Richmond. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, at the funeral home.
Mary S. Stamback
Mary S. Stamback, 92, formerly of Eaton-Gettysburg Road, Eaton, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 1997, at Governor Harris Homestead.
Born March 23, 1905, in Kitchel, Ind., she was the daughter of Joseph E. and Jenny (Puckett) Wood. Mrs. Stamback had been an assistant nurse for Dr. Richard Kenney in Eldorado and Dr. George Wilkialis in Eaton. She was a member of the New Hope United Methodist Church and Gettysburg Community Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William B. Stamback, in 1974; a sister, Eva Leach; and a brother, Elmer Wood.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, William J. and Jean K. Stamback of Eaton; three grandchildren, Sarah (Nick) Peters, Peggy (Rick) Sauerland and Patricia (Jay) Wolfe; and great-grandchildren, Rachel and William Sauerland, Natalie and Justin Peters, Jon and Bonnie Wolf.
Funeral services were Thursday, Dec. 11, at Barnes Funeral Home-New Paris Chapel, with the Rev. Jerry Dunn officiating. Burial was in Springlawn Cemetery, New Paris.

Edwina L. Anderson
Edwina L. "Winnie" Anderson, 67, of Brookville, died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 1997, at her home following an extended illness.
She was a member of Salem Church of God, Christian Women's Club and the Brookville Ladies Wednesday Morning Bible Study. Her husband, Robert, worked for many years with DP&L in Eaton.
Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Robert; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Debbie Anderson of Greenville, James and Jeannie Anderson of Wayne Lakes; grandchildren, Joy Molinari of Mason, Corby Anderson and Kelsey Anderson, both of Wayne Lakes, and Bryan Faller of Columbus; sister-in-law, Beth Ullery of Columbus; brothers-in-law, William Anderson and Russell Hacker, both of Florida; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, the Rev. David E. Ullery; and her parents, Edwin and Ruth (Wolfe) Ullery.
Funeral services were Monday, Dec. 1, at Salem Church of God, with Pastor Rolland Daniels officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Brookville. Gilbert-Fellers Funeral Home, Brookville, was in charge of arrangements.

George E. Padgitt
George E. Padgitt, 84, of West Manchester, died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 1997, at Wayne Hospital in Greenville.
Born Dec. 21, 1912, in Middletown, he was the son of the late Charles and Lillian (Padgett) Padgitt. He was a retired machine operator from Frigidaire Corp., and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a former deputy sheriff in Franklin County, Ind., and formerly worked at Red 73 Creamery in Union City, Ohio.
Mr. Padgitt was a member of Wares Chapel United Methodist Church; Fellowship Lodge #106, F&AM of New Paris; and a Preble County 4-H Horse Club advisor.
Survivors include his wife, Leatha F. (Anthony) Padgitt; a son, Donald Padgitt of South Carolina; a daughter, Cynthia Givens of Bellefontaine; two stepdaughters, Darlene Koontz of Naples, Fla., and Joanne Barker of Laredo, Texas; four stepsons, John H. Bredwell of Eaton, Thomas D. Bredwell of Brookville, Ind., Russell A. Atkinson of Eaton and Eldon Atkinson of Tipp City; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a half sister, Eileen Crelglow of Bradford.
A stepson, Paul L. Atkinson, is deceased.
Funeral services were Saturday, Nov. 29, at Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Funeral Chapel, West Manchester, with the Rev. John H. Bredwell officiating. Burial was in Wares Chapel Cemetery, West Manchester.

Eleanor M. Howard
Eleanor M. Howard, 96, of Lakengren Drive, Eaton, died Thursday evening, Nov. 27, 1997, at her home.
Born Aug. 3, 1901, in New York, she was the daughter of Ancil D. and Eliza N. (Sims) Mills. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Eaton.
Her husband, Albert Thomas Howard, died in 1965.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Richard T. and Susan Howard of Eaton; a daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Joseph Nimo of Tampa, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Aileen Dueffert, in 1994; a sister, Adelaide Kipp, in 1967; and two brothers, Charles S. Mills and Richard Foster Mills.
