Dale K. Bunger
Dale K. Bunger, 86, of Eldorado, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 1997, at Wayne Hospital in Greenville.
Born April 16, 1911, near New Madison, he was the son of Warren and Sarah (Kelsoe) Bunger. In his early years, he was a livestock dealer and drove a truck for Pure Oil Company. He retired from Hines Truck Stop many years ago. He was a member of Eldorado United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Lillian (Brumbaugh) Bunger; a daughter and son-in-law, Marjol and Victor I. Miller of Richmond, Ind.; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Dola Brown of Versailles; a niece and nephew.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Dec. 30, at Bussard-Barnes-Vaniman Funeral Home, Eldorado, followed by burial in Greenmound Cemetery, New Madison.
Memorial contributions may be made to the North Central Rescue Squad.
Gesiena K. Bourne
Gesiena K. "Zena" Bourne, 86, of Eaton died Saturday, Dec. 27, 1997, at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Ind.
A native and lifelong resident of Preble County, she was born Nov. 5, 1911, the daughter of the late John Henry and Johannah (Fahrenholtz) Straszheim. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and a former member of the church's Lois Circle.
Her husband, William Frank Bourne, died Nov. 11, 1971.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth E. Bourne of Richmond, Ind., and Jerold L. Bourne of Eaton; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Lucille Clark of Eaton; nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers, William Straszheim, Albert Straszheim and James Straszheim; and two sisters, Mary Milstead and Bertha Johnson.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Dec. 30, at Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Funeral Home, Eaton, with the Rev. Suzanne Dillahunt officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, West Alexandria.
Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Lutheran Church.
Donald L. Besecker Sr.
Donald L. Besecker Sr., 71, of Greenville, died Saturday, Dec. 27, 1997, at his home following a long illness.
Born April 21, 1926, in Miami County, he was the son of Ray and Ruth (McGriff) Besecker. He retired in 1981 as owner of Besecker Oliver Sales of Greenville and Eaton, and had also farmed for many years in the Darke County area. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Bradford.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Lee (Gerber) Besecker, on March 9, 1979; and his parents.
Survivors include two sons, Donald L. Besecker Jr. of Devon, Pa., and Gary L. Besecker of Greenville; one daughter, Shirley Coen of Point Pleasant, W. Va.; eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; three brothers, Gaylen Besecker of Ansonia, Verlin Besecker of Arcanum and Gene Besecker of Florida; two sisters, Lavonne Birt of Greenville and June Marceill Linder of Greenville; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, with the Rev. Chris Riffle and the Rev. Lloyd McClurg officiating. Burial will be in Abbottsville Cemetery, where a military graveside service will be conducted by the Greenville Veterans' Honor Guard.

Alice M. Sciannamblo
Alice M. (Lazaron) Sciannamblo, 79, of 9990 Pleasant Valley Road, Somerville, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 1997, at Middletown Regional Hospital.
She was born July 18, 1918, in Middletown. Mrs. Sciannamblo was a graduate of Miami University, and was a professional dancer and teacher of dancing. She was a member of Holy Family Parish, Middletown.
Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Angelo V. Sciannamblo; and cousins, Nick and Maria Georgopoulos and family of Middletown.
She was preceded in death by her father, Steve Lazaron, in 1970; her mother, Lucy (Wagner) Lazaron, in 1991; and two brothers, James Lazaron, in 1996, and Thomas Lazaron.
Funeral Mass was Monday, Dec. 29, at St. John's Chapel, Middletown, with Father George W. Klein officiating. Burial was in Woodside Cemetery. Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home, Middletown, was in charge of arrangements.

Stephen A. Hubek
Stephen A. Hubek, 79, of Eaton died Sunday, Dec. 28, 1997, at Heartland of Eaton.
Born June 6, 1918, in Hamilton, he was the son of John and Mary (Sloboda) Hubek. He was employed by the Preble County Highway Department as a supervisor and heavy equipment operator for 30 years, retiring in 1978.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the American DEF SER Medal, American THR SR Medal, EAME THR SER Medal and the Bronze Star Victory Medal.
Survivors include his wife, Rhoda (Boggs) Hubek, whom he married Nov. 27, 1946; one son and daughter-in-law, Stephen M. and Sherry Hubek of London, Ohio; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn M. and John Robert Lowman of Eaton, Sarah Ann and John David Turman of Taylor Mill, Ky.; and six grandchildren, Stephen M. Hubek, John Walter, Timothy Alan and Lori Marie Lowman, Zachary Scott and Abby Brooke Turman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, John and Rudolph Hubek.
Mass of Christian Burial was Tuesday, Dec. 30, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Camden, with Father Francis Monnig officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, at Fairmount Cemetery, Camden. R.C. Nein &Sons-Limber Funeral Home/Willard Moss Jr. Memorial Chapel, Camden, is in charge of arrangements.
Ruth A. Smith
Ruth Ann Smith, 68, of Eaton died Sunday, Dec. 28, 1997, at Vencore Hospital in Greenwood, Ind.
Born March 29, 1929, in Camden, she was the daughter of the late Ivory and Marie (Lunsford) Lewis.
Survivors include children, Kim Blair of Bethel, Ind., Scott Smith and wife Susan, Tracey Smith and Maynard Smith, all of Eaton; brothers, Dean Lewis and Ronald Lewis, both of Richmond, Ind.; sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Everett Stump of Eaton; a nephew, Greg Davis of Eaton; numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Lewis; and a sister, Louise Goad.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, at Barnes Funeral Home-Preble Memory Gardens Chapel, 3377 U.S. 35 East, West Alexandria, with Pastor Raymond Rothwell officiating. Burial will be in Preble Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Mary L. Harris
Mary Leona (Stack) Harris, 79, of 237 Eaton Ave., Eaton, died Monday, Dec. 29, 1997, at her home.
Born Jan. 30, 1918, in Preble County, she was the daughter of Edmund and Mary Ellan (Cahill) Stack. She was a 1935 graduate of Eaton High School, a member of the Eaton Church of the Visitation and St. Ann's Sodality.
Her husband, Royal W. Harris, died in 1994.
Survivors include one son, Ned Harris of Eaton; two daughters and son-in-law, Bonnie and Nelson Yates of Eaton, and Connie Harris of Crawfordsville, Ind.; one sister, Catherine Allen of Kettering; and two grandchildren, Mary Ellen Yates and Nelson Yates.
Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, at the Church of the Visitation, 407 E. Main St., Eaton, with the Rev. Thomas Fitzsimmons officiating. Burial will be in Mound Hill Union Cemetery, Eaton. Rosary services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Barnes Funeral Home-Eaton Chapel, 220 E. Main St.

Ronald V. Neeley
Ronald V. Neeley, 60, of Woodside Drive, West Alexandria, died Monday, Dec. 29, 1997, at Grandview Hospital in Dayton.
Born May 24, 1937, in Gray Hawk, Ky., he was the son of Hubert and Lorraine (Pearson) Neeley. He was a former owner of Formula 1 Body Shop in Dayton, and was a U.S. Navy veteran.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Joyce Neeley; two daughters, Michelle Lambertson of West Alexandria and Lori Bechtol of New Paris; one son, Ronald Neeley of West Alexandria; three brothers, Jack Neeley of Redwood, Calif., Jerry Neeley of Dayton and Danny Sperry of West Alexandria; one sister, Deborah Lockhart of Dayton; and four grandchildren, Rachael, Krystle, Nikki and Dylan Lambertson.
He was preceded in death by a brother, James Sperry; and a granddaughter, Brittany Neeley, in 1985.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, at Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home, West Alexandria, followed by burial in Trissel Cemetery, New Lebanon. The family will receive friends from 12:30-2 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
The family will be accepting donations to help with expenses.
Donald E. Ruby
Donald E. Ruby, 71, of Eaton, died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 1997, at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Ind.
Born June 2, 1926, in Eldorado, he was the son of the late Earl and Nannie (Kelly) Ruby.
Survivors include his wife, Karen L. (Hammond) Ruby, whom he married in 1978; three children, Donald Ruby of Fremont, Ind., Karen Shindeldecker of Boca Raton, Fla., and Cathy Webb of Eaton; four stepchildren, James David Case, Billy Joe Addison, Michael Wayne Slusher and Richard Leon Addison, all of Indiana; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Walter Ruby of Eldorado and Bill Ruby of Tennessee; and a sister, Mary Thompson of Eaton.
Funeral services were held at the convenience of the family. Barnes Funeral Home-Preble Memory Gardens Chapel, West Alexandria, was in charge of arrangements.

Charles B. Williams
Charles B. Williams, 71, of West Alexandria, died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 1997, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton.
Born Jan. 31, 1926, in Tulsa, Okla., he was the son of the late Boyd and Sally (Faulbush) Williams. He retired in 1988 from the Trotwood-Madison Schools as a bus driver and custodian, and had previously worked for 27 years as a Dayton Yellow Cab driver. He was a founding member of Faith Chapel in Farmersville.
Survivors include his wife, Geneva L. (Tincher) Williams, whom he married Aug. 30, 1946; children, Ronald L. Williams of Brookville, Kay Mullins of Alabama, Janet Akers of Gratis, Charles Wayne Williams of Dayton, Pam Hughes of Trotwood, Robbie Williams of West Alexandria and Teresa Leach of Franklin.
Also surviving are 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Strauther Williams of Hamilton, Faye Cole of West Alexandria, Golda Mae Angel and Treva Scalf, both of Kentucky, Ruby Edmonds and Pat Maple, both of Hamilton.
Funeral services were Saturday, Nov. 8, at Faith Chapel, Farmersville, with Pastor Charles Deaton officiating. Barnes Funeral Home-Preble Memory Gardens Chapel, West Alexandria, was in charge of arrangements.
