Byron Utz
Byron Utz, 72, of South Main Street, Lewisburg, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Nov. 5, 1997, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton.
Born July 10, 1925, in Montgomery County, he was the son of Raymond and Susan Maude (Johns) Utz. He had worked 20 years for NCR in Dayton and 10 years for the City of Eaton, having retired in 1987. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Brookville American Legion.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, La Donna Utz; three sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Deborah Utz of Gadsden, Ala., Mike and Donna Utz of Brookville, Don and Jill Utz of West Alexandria; daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Jerry Winkler of Eaton; six grandchildren, Sean and Kim Utz of Alabama, Kyle Utz, Jason Utz and Matt Griggs, all of West Alexandria, and Lance Turner of Brookville; and a brother, Deo Utz of Brookville.
Funeral services were Saturday, Nov. 8, at Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home, West Alexandria, with the Rev. Lowell Spencer officiating. Burial was in Sugar Grove Cemetery, West Alexandria.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lewisburg Emergency Unit.
Larry O. King
Larry O. King, 50, of Camden, died Friday, Nov. 7, 1997 at Middletown Regional Hospital.
Born Feb. 25, 1947 in Oneita, Ky., he was the son of Roy and Virginia L King. He had lived in Camden for the past 46 years. He was employed as maintenance foreman at AK Steel Co., Middletown where he had worked for 32 years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roy King and a sister, Patricia King.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Charlene King; his mother, Virginia L. King of Somerville; a son, Larry King Jr. of Somerville; two daughters, Bernadette LeFevers and Kimberly (Doug) Haddix, both of Middletown; his grandmother, Amanda King of West Liberty, Ky.; two sisters, Oneata Johnson of Farmersville and Cheryl Logan of Middletown; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 11 at Joseph Baker-Stevens Funeral Home, Middletown with the Rev. Charles Haney officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, Gratis.
Blanche M. Webb
Blanche May Webb, 83, formerly of 423 Sugar Valley Drive, Camden, died Saturday, Nov. 8, 1997 at Lebanon Country Manor, Lebanon.
Born Dec. 18, 1913 in Irvin Ky., she was the daughter of Owen and Eva Hendricks. She married Martin Webb May 2, 1931. He preceded her in death April 6, 1991.
Survivors include a son, David Webb of West Chester; two grandchildren, Danny Webb and Lois Ann Toler of Camden; and five great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Darrell Webb, Dec. 12, 1995; two brothers, Roy and Ed Hendricks; and one sister, Ethel Gaston.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12 at the R.C. Nein & Sons-Limber Funeral Home, Willard Moss Jr. Memorial Chapel, 249 N. Main St., Camden, with the Rev. Lowell Lay officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery, Camden.
Kathryn E. Lipps
Kathryn E. Lipps, 80, of 243 Marion Drive, Greenville, died Saturday, Nov. 8, 1997 at Heartland of Greenville after an extended illness.
Born Aug. 18, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Phares and Emma (Wertenbaker) Longanecker. She was a former member of the Castine Church of the Brethren. She had retired as a maid from the Siesta Motel, Eaton.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lester R. Lipps on Nov. 7, 1973, and a brother, William Longanecker.
Survivors include a sister, Margaret Strickler of New Madison; a half-brother, Benjamin Gallihugh of Fairfield; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 11 at Girton-Schmidt- Boucher Michael Chapel, West Manchester with the Rev. William M. Longanecker officiating. Burial was in Castine Cemetery.
Earl D. Davis
Earl D. Davis, 81, of 31 Dee Drive, New Paris, died Sunday, Nov. 9, 1997, at Reid Hospital, Richmond, Ind.
Born July 28, 1916 in Ossian, Ind., he was the son of Frank and Mary Davis Helblig. He was a retired electrician and lifetime member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He was a World War II Army veteran, a charter member of American Legion Post 315, Richmond, Ind., member of 40 @ 8, Richmond, Ind., VFW Post 1108, Richmond, Ind. and Eagles Lodge 2202, Eaton.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Daniels Davis, who he married Sept. 25, 1965; one daughter, Rose Marie Jensen of Richmond, Ind.; three sons, Gary Milligan of Churubsco, Ind.; James E. Davis of Richmond, Ind. and Phillip E. Davis of Campbellsville, Ky; three stepdaughters, Patty Taylor, Carolyn Francis and Judy Richison, all of Eaton; one stepson, Danny Quinn of Eaton; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; 13 step-great grandchildren; four brothers, seven sisters; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Friday, Nov. 14, at Doan and Mills Funeral Home in Richmond, Ind. with the Rev. Lowell Spencer officiating. Burial will be in Mound Hill Union Cemetery, Eaton. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, Nov. 13 from 5-8 p.m. where an Eagles Lodge Memorial Service will be held at 8 p.m.

James E. Quinn
James E. Quinn, 76 of West Alexandria, died Sunday, Nov. 9, 1997 in Grandview Hospital, Dayton.
Born Dec. 3, 1920, he was the son of John and Ann (Huber) Quinn. He was a World War II Army veteran, serving in the South Pacific, and was a member of the Eaton National Guard. He was a member of the James E. Ryan Post #322 American Legion in West Alexandria.
Mr. Quinn was retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation in 1977 after 22 years. He was a former West Alexandria police chief, served on the village council and was a member of the Preble County Historical Society. He was also a member of the Preble and Ohio Genealogical Society and the Aullwood Audubon Center and Farm. He had been a former bus drive for the West Alexandria schools. His family name was recently published in the Preble County Historical Book as one of the first families in Preble.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Phyllis L. (Suggs) Quinn of West Alexandria; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert A. and Debbie Quinn, also of West Alexandria; daughter and son-in-law, Susan R. and Robert Carico of Eaton; three grandchildren, James Lacey Quinn and his wife Amy of Texas, Robert Arlo Quinn of West Alexandria and Kathryn Kaylene Carico of Eaton; and one brother, John Robert Quinn of Dayton.
Military funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 13 at Fairview Cemetery, West Alexandria, with the Rev. Daniel Snider officiating. Visitors will also be welcomed to the family home following the funeral services. Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Marie Spencer
H. Marie Spencer, 81, Lewisburg, died Saturday, Nov. 8, 1997, at Heartland of Eaton after an extended illness.
Born Jan. 12, 1916, in Laura to Harley and Gertha (Heckman) Beetley, Mrs. Spencer lived in Preble County since 1956. She was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church, Lewisburg, and was retired licensed public accountant.
Survivors include husband Carleton, daughter Susan Keckler of Bright, Ind., son John Spencer of Torrance Ca., grandson Mike Keckler, granddaughter Michelle Rice, great-grandson Dustin Rice, brother Wilbur Beetley, West Milton, and various nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Spencer was preceded in death by a brother, Orville Beetley and one sister, Renea Conley.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, Nov. 16, at 1 p.m. at Calvary United Methodist Church, Lewisburg, with the Rev. David Justis officiating. Burial will be at Mote Cemetery, Phillipsburg. Kelly D. Silvers
Kelly Douglas Silvers of 228 Eaton Ave., Eaton, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1998, at his home.
He had been in the pastoral ministry for 30 years, and was currently professor at New Creations Bible College in Richmond, Ind. He had been the senior pastor at New Life Tabernacle in Petersburg, Mich., for over six years, and previously was minister of music and Christian education at the Lebanon United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Susan (Thompson) Silvers; two sons, Timothy and Daniel; a brother, Morgan (Karen); a sister, Nancy; a niece and four nephews.
Funeral services were Monday, Jan. 12, at New Life Tabernacle, Petersburg, Mich., followed by burial on Tuesday, Jan. 13, in Lebanon, Ohio. Reeb Funeral Home, Michigan, was in charge of arrangements.

Mabel Goodpaster
Mabel Goodpaster, 79, of West Alexandria, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1998, at Hospice of Dayton.
She had lived in Mt. Sterling, Ky., before moving to Dayton in 1958. She then resided with her daughter and son-in-law in West Alexandria in 1993.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Goodpaster, in 1987; a son, James Goodpaster, in 1993; and a daughter, Carolyn Goodpaster, in 1986.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Danny Sage of West Alexandria, Connie and Gregg Johnson of Dayton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Carl and Shirley Goodpaster of Brookville, Tony and Judy Goodpaster of Kettering; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mildred Ginter and Bea Ginter.
Funeral services were Friday, Jan. 9, at Morris Sons Funeral Home, Kettering, with the Rev. David Misicka officiating. Burial was in Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery.

Kay Taylor
Kay (Reeves) Taylor, 46, of Wilmington Avenue, Dayton, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1998, at her home.
She was born Dec. 1, 1951, in Akron, and was a 1973 graduate of Miami University. She was a former director of the Preble County Historical Society for eight years, and had more recently worked as a volunteer coordinator for Hospice of Dayton. She was a member of Alpha Kappa Sorority and the Preble County Historical Society.
Survivors include her daughter, Brandy Reeves of Dayton; her mother, Beverly (King) Taylor of Dayton; a brother, Kenneth Taylor of Seattle, Wash.; and a special friend, Jim Hoops of West Alexandria.
She was preceded in death by her father, George Taylor Jr., in 1985.
Funeral services were Saturday, Jan. 10, at Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home, West Alexandria, with the Rev. Richard Teske officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, West Alexandria.
Lois Couchot
Lois (Medsker) Couchot, 74, of Englewood, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1998.
She was a longtime Englewood area resident and had been an active member of the Englewood United Methodist Church. In addition, she had volunteered for the American Red Cross and the Northmoor Elementary School library reading program.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and David Baughman of Lewisburg, Becky and Dennis Ditmer of Springboro, Bobbie Denlinger of Brookville, Nancy and Mark Harper of Clayton, Mary and Doug Hill of Shawnee, Kan.; sons and daughter-in-law, Michael Couchot of Corpus Christi, Texas, Scott and Linda Couchot of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.; numerous grandchildren; and a sister, Peggy Medsker of Kettering.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Robert Couchot, in 1993; and her parents, Raymond and Nondas (Leininger) Medsker.
Funeral services were Saturday, Jan. 10, at Englewood United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Bob Klingel and George Sidwell officiating. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Kindred Funeral Home, Englewood, is in charge of arrangements.
