Ruby G. McGuire
Ruby G. McGuire, 85, of 402 S. Spring St., New Paris, died Friday, Jan. 2, 1998, at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Ind., after a recent illness.
Born Jan. 18, 1912, in Conway, Ky., she was the daughter of Granville and Allie Mae (Laswell) Cox, and had lived most of her life in New Paris. She was retired from the Belden Corporation and the C.R. Coblentz School District. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Snyder, Ky.
Survivors include one daughter, Geraldine Ray of New Paris; three sons, William K. McGuire of Maryville, Tenn., Elwood McGuire of Carrollton, Ga., and Larry Joe McGuire of New Paris; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Ray Cox of Anderson, Ind.; two sisters, Irene Mullins of Richmond, Ind., and Betty J. Hoke of Oceanside, Calif.; a half brother, Harold Cox of Richmond, Ind.; a stepsister, Almedia Britton of Phoenix, Ariz.; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Grover L. McGuire, in 1962; a daughter, Genevieve McGuire, in 1962; and a son, Lewis D. McGuire, in 1995.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Jan. 6, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, Richmond, Ind., with the Rev. Reggie Osborne officiating. Burial was in Springlawn Cemetery, New Paris.

Eli Young
Eli Young, 88, formerly of Allen Street, Franklin, died Friday, Jan. 2, 1998, at Heartland of Eaton.
He was a former power lineman and retired in 1974. He was a World War II veteran, a member of the American Legion, IEBW Union and Westview Church of Christ in Hamilton.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie.
Survivors include one brother, Sherman Young of Orlando, Fla.; one sister, Orpha Cornett of Wooton, Ky., a niece, Ruth Stephen of Camden; other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Jan. 6, at Eaton-Anderson Funeral Home, Franklin, with the Rev. David Stanberry officiating. Burial was in Miami Valley Memory Gardens.
Martha G. McClure
Martha G. McClure, 85, formerly of Wayne Lakes in Darke County, died Saturday morning, Jan. 3, 1998, at Wood Glen Nursing Center in Dayton.
Born Sept. 28, 1912, in Preble County, she was the daughter of George B. and Cora (Lamb) Reid. She was a 1930 graduate of Jackson High School.
Mrs. McClure had been a waitress at the Seven Mile Tavern in Eaton, Elizabeth Parker's Restaurant in Richmond, Ind., The Lampost in New Paris and Gerschuh's in Greenville. She owned and operated the Gate House at Wayne Lakes for several years. She was a member of Eastern Star Chapter #310 in New Paris, and the United Church of Christ at Campbellstown.
Survivors include five grandchildren, Michele, Roxanne and Daniel Christiansen, David and Robin Montgomery; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Avis E. Montgomery, in 1991; two sisters, Erma Runyon and Minnie A. Wehrly; and five brothers, Cecil Reid, Venoman C. "Bud" Reid, Vern Reid, Dan Reid and Lloyd P. "Red" Reid.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, at Barnes Funeral Home-Eaton Chapel, 220 E. Main St., with the Rev. James Sizelove officiating. Burial will be in Mound Hill Union Cemetery, Eaton. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Beatrice I. Ermlich
Beatrice Imogene Ermlich, 73, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 1998, at Highland Hospital in Connellsville, Pa.
Born Sept. 26, 1924, in California, Pa., she was the daughter of Gustav Henry and Beatrice Valeria (Higgins) Ermlich.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Gustav Leo Ermlich, in 1992.
Survivors include nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, at Barnes Funeral Home-Lewisburg Chapel, 411 N. Commerce St., with the Rev. David Justis officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery, Lewisburg.
Claude W. Slingerland
Claude W. Slingerland, 75, of Camden, died early Monday, Jan. 5, 1998, at McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital in Oxford.
Born Oct. 29, 1922, in Westerlo, N.Y., he was the son of William and Eva (Fancher) Slingerland. He married Charmaine Kinsley in Albany, N.Y., in 1955 and the couple moved to the Oxford area in 1972.
Mr. Slinglerland retired in 1990 after 18 years as custodian in the Health Center at Miami University. He was a member of Wadsworth Masonic Lodge in Albany.
Survivors include his wife, Charmaine; and two sons, Stuart and Douglas Slingerland.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, at Smith & Ogle Funeral Home, 101 W. Church St., Oxford. There will be no public calling. Burial will be in Darrtown Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Camden Emergency Squad.
Sue L. Arnold
Sue Lynn Arnold, 33, of Richmond, Ind., died Sunday, Jan. 11, 1998, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton.
Born March 25, 1964, in Dayton, she was the daughter of Dan and Linda Sue (Supinger) Todd. She was a member of the Breath of Life Foursquare Church in Richmond, Ind.
Survivors include her husband, Darrell B. Lawton, whom she married March 21, 1995; two daughters, Christina Schutte and Cynthia Schutte, both of Eaton; five sons, William Arnold, Byron Arnold, Charlie Arnold, Adam Arnold and Jacob Arnold, all of Eaton.
Also surviving are her mother and stepfather, Linda and H.B. Philpot of Richmond, Ind.; her father, Dan Todd of St. Louis, Mo.; two sisters, Tammy Brannon of New Paris and Gena Weatherly of Eaton; maternal grandmother, Lura Supinger of Eaton; grandson, Shade Allen Holsapple; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and other relatives.
Funeral services were Thursday, Jan. 15, at Barnes Funeral Home-Preble Memory Gardens Chapel, West Alexandria, with Pastor Mike Lakes officiating. Burial was in Preble Memory Gardens, West Alexandria.
Thelma J. Sims
Thelma J. Sims, 70, of Eaton, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 1998, at her home.
Born May 6, 1927, in Hamilton, she was the daughter of the late James Albert and Grace Mae (Waldon) Ballinger. She worked as a bookkeeper for 40 years for Rt. 35 Auto Sales, Eaton.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, James and Danita McPherson of Farmersville, Millard E. and Tina Sims of Somerville; daughters and son-in-law, Rita Sims of Eaton, Linda Bishop of Franklin, Carolyn and Earl Hipsher of Franklin.
Also surviving are grandchildren, James McPherson III, Jaimie McPherson, Amy Lynn Morris, Lonnie D. Sims, John Sims, Darron Sims, Janie Brooks, Maggie Marks, Faith Egner and Melissa Egner; great-grandchildren, Sean McPherson, Macey Morris, Colton Sims, Austin Brooks, Dustin Brooks and Drew Marks.
She is also survived by brothers, Elmer Ballinger of Germantown, Herbert Ballinger of Florida and Donald Ballinger of Brookville; sisters, Florence Schaeffer, Wanda Carpenter and Clara Stamper, all of Germantown, Mildred Wilder of Miamisburg, Joyce Ann Sheperd of Camden, Barbara Stanford of Florida and Judy Blankenship of Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Millard N. Sims, on Dec. 1, 1992; brothers, Raymond and Junior Ballinger; sister, Betty Ballinger; and granddaughter, Rachel Sims.
Funeral services were Monday, Jan. 19, at Barnes Funeral Home-Preble Memory Gardens Chapel, West Alexandria, with Pastor Steven Cable officiating. Burial was in Preble Memory Gardens, West Alexandria.

Mary L. McFall
Mary L. McFall, 89, of Oxford, died Friday evening, Jan. 16, 1998, at Oxford View Nursing Home.
Born Sept. 9, 1908, in Preble County, she was the daughter of David M. and Katie E. (Miles) King. She was a 1928 graduate of Eaton High School.
In November 1929, she married Robert McFall. They left the farm and moved to Camden, where he worked as a mechanic. After moving to Oxford in 1936, she worked at Capitol Cleaners. She worked for Dr. Paul Taylor as a dental assistant for 22 years until his death, then as a dental assistant for Dr. Hoffman for 10 years, until her retirement in 1984.
Mrs. McFall was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, the Glenn Temple Pythian Sisters #543, the Oxford Senior Citizens and card clubs.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Delbert (Dora) Larsh of Eaton; nieces, Audrey King Lane and Mary Kathryn Larsh, both of Eaton; nephew, Gordon Larsh of Richmond, Ind.; other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Chester King; and a sister, Vergie Shields.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, at Smith & Ogle Funeral Home, 101 W. Church St., Oxford, with the Rev. Robert K. Foster officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to funeral services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery, Camden.
Josephine L. Good
Josephine L. Good, 80, formerly of Mattis Drive, Lewisburg, died Friday, Jan. 16, 1998, at Greenbriar Nursing Center in Eaton.
Born Aug. 25, 1917, in Lewisburg, she was the daughter of Henry and Florence Louise (Bunger) Sewert. She had formerly worked for the Lewisburg Pharmacy. Mrs. Good was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Lewisburg.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Good, in 1988; and a sister, Virginia Miller.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Larry Dillon of Camden; three grandsons, Sam Kemp, Steve Kemp and Ed Kemp; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, William Sewert of Lewisburg; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Monday, Jan. 19, at Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home, West Alexandria, followed by burial in Roselawn Cemetery, Lewisburg.
Thomas H. O'Neil
Thomas H. O'Neil, 66, of Kettering, died Friday, Jan. 16, 1998, at his home after a lingering illness.
Born Aug. 2, 1931, in Stevens Point, Wis., he was the son of Sylvester and Ora (Wilhelm) O'Neil. He was a graduate of Shorewood High School, Milwaukee, Wis., and Marquette University. He was an accountant for many years, retiring in 1989.
Survivors include his wife, Vera (Siler) O'Neil, whom he married Aug. 26, 1961; children, Marilyn Everhart and fiance Richard Staup of Vandalia, Marlene O'Neil and husband Michael Burkhardt of Columbus, Michael O'Neil and wife Jacqueline of New Lebanon; grandchildren, Cynthia, Crystal and Shawn Everhart; great-granddaughter, Sydney Spann; brothers, Donald O'Neil and wife MaryAnn of San Antonio, Texas, and J.W. "Jack" O'Neil of Vero Beach, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, Terrance Joseph O'Neil; and son, Mark Thomas O'Neil.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Jan. 20, at the Eldorado Unitarian Universalist Church, Eldorado, with the Rev. Kathryn Hawbaker, the Rev. Raymond Michel and the Rev. Gordon Vickerson officiating. Burial was in Twin Creek Chapel Cemetery, West Manchester. Bussard-Barnes-Vaniman Funeral Home-Eldorado Chapel, was in charge of arrangements.
