Esther N. Noe
Esther N. (Tuvell) Noe, 97, of Friendship Village, Dayton, died Friday, Feb. 27, 1998, at her home.
Born Dec. 29, 1900, she was the daughter of Jacob and Annie (Early) Cotterman. She retired in 1961 from the Montgomery County Home, where she was the superintendent. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Ingomar for over 50 years.
Her husband, Clark Noe, is deceased.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Melvin and Marjorie Tuvell of Baton Rouge, La., Robert and Marilyn Tuvell of Las Vegas, Nev.; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Leonard Tuvell, in 1986; six sisters, Mary Landis, Lydia House, Catherine Eby, Clara Spidel, Stella Heavilin and Bertha Duncan; and a brother, John Cotterman.
Funeral services were Monday, March 2, at St. John's Lutheran Church, West Alexandria, with the Rev. Larry Kettlehake officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, West Alexandria. Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home, West Alexandria, was in charge of arrangements.

Bennie A. Parker
Bennie A. Parker, 70, of Eaton, died Friday, Feb. 27, 1998.
Born Aug. 4, 1927, in Jackson County, Ky., he was the son of Fred and Pearl (Henry) Parker. He was employed as a meat packer at Kohls Meat Market and was assistant chief of police in Dayton, Ky., for 14 years. Mr. Parker was a U.S. Army veteran, having served with the 729th Army Air Corps. He was a member of the Camden Church of God and the Camden VFW.
He married Alberta Barker on Sept. 3, 1947, in Newport, Ky.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Phillip Murphy of Camden; a son and daughter-in-law, Bennie A. Jr. and Linda Parker of Cincinnati; a brother, Robert Parker of Fort Wayne, Ind.; a sister, Marge Neiheisel of Cincinnati; two grandchildren, Holly Dunbar and Lisa Peddicord; and one great-grandchild, Glen Spudock.
He was preceded in death by his wife; a daughter, Ethel Darlene Parker; his parents; a brother, Walter Parker; and two sisters, Gladys Brashear and Ruby McIntosh.
Funeral services were Tuesday, March 3, at R.C. Nein & Sons-Limber Funeral Home/Willard Moss Jr. Memorial Chapel, Camden, with the Rev. Marvin Hocker officiating. Burial, with military rites, was in Fairmount Cemetery, Camden.
Donald E. Brower
Donald Eugene Brower, 72, of New Paris, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 1998, at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Ind.
Born Sept. 25, 1925, in West Alexandria, he was the son of Wilbur and Irma (Pelle) Brower. He was a 1943 graduate of West Alexandria High School. Mr. Brower retired as owner-operator of Bud Reid's Garage in New Paris. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was a former member of the New Paris Fire Department and New Paris Village Council and a former C.R. Coblentz transportation supervisor. He was a member of American Legion Clarence Teaford Post #360; Fellowship Lodge #106, F&AM; Antioch Shrine and Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton; and the New Paris Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Barbara J. (Reid) Brower; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles Christopher and Jean Brower of New Paris; two half brothers, Charles D. Crouse and Richard A. Crouse, both of West Alexandria; two aunts, Honey Izor of Eaton and Kathryn Monahan of Texas; and two grandchildren, Andrea Lynn and Kevin Christopher Brower.
Funeral services were Tuesday, March 3, at Barnes Funeral Home-New Paris Chapel, with the Rev. Don Boyer officiating. Burial was in Springlawn Cemetery, New Paris.

Earl E. Rinck
Earl E. Rinck, 91, of Eaton died Saturday, Feb. 28, 1998, at Greenbriar Nursing Center.
Born Nov. 21, 1906, in West Alexandria, he was the son of the late Charles A. and Dena (Sauer) Rinck. He was a graduate of the University of Michigan School of Engineering, where he was a member of Tri-Angle Engineering Fraternity. He retired after 27 years as an engineer from Rexarc in West Alexandria.
Mr. Rinck was a ham radio operator. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and King Hiram Lodge #88, F&AM, both of West Alexandria, and a former member of the Dayton Engineering Club.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia L. (Gephart) Rinck, whom he married July 12, 1934; a sister, Edna C. Moore of Lexington, Ky.; a nephew, Escum L. Moore of Lexington, Ky.; and a niece, Carolyn Hounshell of Lexington, Ky.
Graveside services were Monday, March 2, at Sugar Grove Cemetery, West Alexandria, with the Rev. Daniel Snider officiating. There was no public calling. Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Funeral Home, Eaton, was in charge of arrangements.

Mary M. Kasserman
Mary Myrtle Kasserman, 81, of Lewisburg, died Saturday morning, Feb. 28, 1998, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton after an extended illness.
Born June 24, 1916, in Middletown, she was the daughter of Redwine and Bertha (Shephard) Hogg. A 1936 graduate of Monroe High School, she had lived in Preble County most of her life where she was a homemaker and farmer.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Charles Ralph Kasserman; a son and daughter-in-law, Karl W. and Sandra R. Kasserman of Cincinnati; daughters and sons-in-law, Janet and Ted Rike of Lewisburg, Linda and Mark Morris of Reynoldsburg, Brenda and Joseph Ochmanski of Brook Park, Ohio; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a special cousin, Lennox Hogg of Arcanum.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Stanley Hogg; three sisters; Thelma Shuff, Esther Flora and Marjorie Snyder; and a daughter, Joyce E. Brown, in December 1988.[cut off]
Virginia S. Mulder
Virginia (Smith) Mulder, 79, of North Shore Retirement Community, Lakeside, Ohio, died Friday, Feb. 6, 1998, at Firelands Community Hospital in Sandusky.
Born March 23, 1918, in West Alexandria, she was the daughter of Carl F. and Eva M. (Horn) Smith. She was a graduate of West Alexandria High School, attended Heidelberg College and graduated from Ohio State University with a degree in home economics.
Survivors include her husband, Dr. Peter II Mulder; two daughters and sons-in-law, Muriel and Owen Moore of Lima, Marilyn and Kent Bridges of New Madison; two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Ann Mulder of Lima, Jim and Ann Mulder of Chesapeake Beach, Md.
Also surviving are two brothers and sisters-in-law, Don and Elsie Smith of West Alexandria, Joe and Carolyn Smith of Eaton; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Robert Fahrenholz of West Alexandria; Dorothy and Robert Reik of Alaska; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret Hale.
Memorial services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 22, at Lakeside United Methodist Church, Lakeside, Ohio, where the family will receive friends after 2 p.m.

Joseph F. Kirkhoff
Joseph F. Kirkhoff, 68, of Eaton, died Tuesday, March 10, 1998, at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Ind.
Born June 12, 1929, in Eaton, he was the son of Frank W. and Susie R. (Sherer) Kirkhoff. He was a 1947 graduate of Eaton High School and had been the owner and operator of the Credit Bureau of Preble County for over 45 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving with the rank of sergeant during the Korean War, and was a member of the Eaton Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Mary H. (Willis) Kirkhoff; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Kathryn and Bernie Brown of Centerville, Ohio; nieces, Vicki and Susan Brown, Lisa and Amy Reasoner; and nephews, Chris Najpaver and Todd Reasoner.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Ellery, in 1965.
Funeral services were Saturday, March 14, at Barnes Funeral Home-Eaton Chapel, with Glen Fisher officiating. Burial, with military graveside services, was in Mound Hill Union Cemetery, Eaton.

James R. Rader
James R. Rader, 78, of Eaton, died Wednesday, March 11, 1998, at Wayne Hospital in Greenville after an extended illness.
Born April 5, 1919, in Franklin, Tenn., he was the son of the late Rozell M. and Jimmie A. (Parsons) Rader, and had lived in Preble County since 1965. He was a civil service employee of the U.S. Government, and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the VFW in Arcanum.
Survivors include his wife, Jeannette E. (Shivadecker) Rader; two sons and daughter-in-law, Patrick A. Rader of Arcanum, James N. "Nick" and Sally Rader of Arcanum; a stepdaughter, Margaret Sinkhorn of Dunedin, Fla.; and two grandsons, Eric Rader and Ryan Rader.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Copinger.
Funeral services were Saturday, March 14, at Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Funeral Home, Eaton, with the Rev. Suzanne Dillahunt officiating. Burial, with military graveside services, was in Mound Hill Union Cemetery, Eaton.
Cecil E. McGriff
Cecil E. McGriff, 88, of Eaton, died Wednesday, March 11, 1998, at his home.
Born Sept. 25, 1909, in West Sonora (Preble County), he was the son of Ernest and Dora Ann (Simpson) McGriff. He retired from Frigidaire in Dayton in 1971, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Ruth (Heeter) McGriff; a daughter, Jane L. McGriff of Okemos, Mich.; a son-in-law, Jerry A. McRill of Eaton; grandsons, Jeff McRill, Justin and wife Angie McRill, David and Daniel Finks; great-grandchildren, Harley and Jesse McRill.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce E. McRill, in 1987; and a brother, Richard McGriff, in 1988.
Funeral services were Monday, March 16, at Barnes Funeral Home-Eaton Chapel, with the Rev. Wayne D. Morrison officiating. Burial was in Preble Memory Gardens, West Alexandria.

Jane Ann Petty
Jane Ann Petty, 60, of Eaton, died Thursday, March 12, 1998, at Hospice of Dayton.
A native and lifelong resident of Eaton, she was born Jan. 27, 1938, in Eaton, the daughter of the late Roscoe and Ruth (Davis) Wright. She was an active member and 1956 graduate of Eaton High School, and was a waitress at The Eaton Place. She was a member of the Eaton Church of the Brethren, and American Legion Auxiliary #215 of Eaton.
Survivors include her husband, Bob Petty, whom she married Feb. 14, 1959; a daughter, Cindy Petty of Eaton; a son, Kerry Petty of Eaton; grandchildren, Kellie Jo Pence, Andi Jo Pence and Riley Petty; a great-grandson, Jaymin Elam; two sisters, Judy Riley of Eaton and Madonna VanBrederode of Brookville; a brother, Fred Mason of Eaton; a niece, Marcy VanBrederode; and nephews, Brad Riley, Jeff VanBrederode, Rick Mason and Matt Mason.
Funeral services were Monday, March 16, at Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Funeral Home, Eaton, with the Rev. Greg A. Hyre officiating. Burial was in Mound Hill Union Cemetery, Eaton.
