Marjorie E. Hall
Marjorie E. Hall, 74, of West Manchester, died Friday, March 6, 1998, at Greenbriar Nursing Center in Eaton.
Born May 22, 1923, in Brookville, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Hazel (Studebaker) Tamplin, and had lived in Preble County most of her life. She was a former telephone operator for General Telephone Company and a former waitress. She was a member of the Eaton Senior Citizens and Eagles Lodge Auxiliary Aerie #2202 of Eaton.
Survivors include a son, Randy Hall of Richmond, Ind.; two daughters, Sharon Kelley and Cheryl McKown, both of Lewisburg; a daughter-in-law, J. Sue Hall of West Manchester; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard Tamplin of West Alexandria; three sisters, Maxine Johnson of Columbus, Wilma Evarts of Austin, Texas, and Geneva Walters of Eaton; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Ricky L. Hall; and her former husband, Emerson Hall.
Funeral services were Monday, March 9, at Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Michael Chapel, West Manchester, with the Rev. George W. Pennington officiating. Burial was in Wares Chapel Cemetery, West Manchester.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Preble County Cancer Society.

Doris M. Nelson
Doris Mae Nelson, 68, of Camden, formerly of Richmond, Ind., died Friday, March 6, 1998, in Richmond.
Born Dec. 31, 1929, in Dawn, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Marion Joyce and Mary Opal (Shade) Marker. She had attended Jackson High School. Mrs. Nelson retired in 1982 after 19 years as a nursing assistant at Reid Memorial Hospital in Richmond, Ind., at which time her name was Doris Kabel.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Russell D. Newton, in 1955; and a nephew, Mark Stump.
Survivors include her husband, Harold R. Nelson; three daughters, Rita Jones and Pam Wagner, both of Richmond, Ind., and Sherry Bryant of Arizona; three stepdaughters, Darlene Bell of Brookville, Donna Allen of Goldsboro, N.C., and Diane Taylor of Ads, Tenn.
Also surviving are three grandchildren, several step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Gary Marker of Union City, Ohio, Harold Marker of Greenville and Dick Marker of Port Clinton; a sister, Wanda Stump of Union City, Ind.; an aunt, Elma Couchot of Sidney; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were Monday, March 9, at Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Funeral Home, Eaton, with the Rev. Greg F. Jackson officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Modoc, Ind.

Clifton E. White
Clifton Earl White, 68, of Wolf Road, West Alexandria, died Saturday, March 7, 1998, at his home.
Born April 4, 1929, in Quality, Ky., he was the son of Arville and Nettie (Arnold) White. Mr. White retired from Ruth Berry Pump Co. and had previously worked for 35 years for Tait Manufacturing, both in Dayton. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Jerlene White; three sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Nancy White, Garry and Brenda White, Rick and Kathy White, all of Eaton; a daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Dave Roark of New Lebanon.
Also surviving are nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Carl White of Evansville, Ind., and Junior White of Dunmor, Ky.; three sisters, Ruth Proctor of Morgantown, Ky., Gertie Kirby of Quality, Ky., and Pearl Proctor of West Alexandria.
Funeral services were held at the convenience of the family at Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home, West Alexandria. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, West Alexandria.

Margery Dunwoodie
Margery Dunwoodie, 81, formerly of West Alexandria, died Saturday, March 7, 1998, in Magnolia, Texas.
Born April 1, 1916, she was the daughter of Ora and Luvella (Zinck) Arnett.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Dunwoodie, in 1988; and a sister, Evelyn Shiverdecker.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, James Dunwoodie of Magnolia, Texas, Robert and Ruby Dunwoodie of Dayton, Ronald and Patricia Dunwoodie of Eaton, Richard and Sherry Dunwoodie of West Alexandria; daughters and son-in-law, Barbara and Alva Jones of Texas, Patricia Hollabaugh of Mississippi, and Linda Lewis of Magnolia, Texas.
Also surviving are 25 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Albert Arnett of Kettering; four sisters, Irene Nichols of Urbana, Mildred O'Connel of West Chester, Florence Horak of Texas and Lova Norris of Huber Heights.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 12, at Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home, West Alexandria, with burial in Sugar Grove Cemetery near West Alexandria. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, at the funeral home.

Robert N. Ray
Robert N. Ray, 67, of New Paris, died Sunday morning, March 8, 1998, at his home after an extended illness.
Born Nov. 9, 1930, in Jefferson Township (Preble County), he was the son of the late Harley Ottis and Kathryn Anna (Nelson) Ray. He was a lifelong resident of the New Paris area and a 1948 graduate of Jefferson High School.
Mr. Ray was a former Jefferson Township farmer and retired in 1982 as a self-employed building contractor. He attended the First Baptist Church in New Paris.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Geraldine (McGuire) Ray; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert M. and Debra Ray, Vaughn M. and Deborah Ray, all of New Paris; a sister, Helen E. Rowe of Eaton; a brother, Paul E. Ray of New Paris; four grandchildren, Brandon Alan, Jamie Lyn, Beth Ann and Jim Ray; two step-grandchildren, Angie and Heather McClanahan; nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a brother, James Michael Ray, in 1982.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 11, at the First Baptist Church, 6751 Ohio 320, New Paris, with the Rev. Reggie Osborne officiating. Burial will be in Springlawn Cemetery, New Paris. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, at Barnes Funeral Home-New Paris Chapel, 109 W. Main St.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Reid Hospital Foundation -- Hospice Fund, or to the First Baptist Church of New Paris.

Evelyn Hollingsworth
Evelyn Hollingsworth, 75, of West Alexandria, died Saturday, March 7, 1998, at her home.
Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Isaac Hollingsworth; two daughters, Linda and husband Jack Marcum, and Brenda Honesty; one son, Afton Sumner; a granddaughter, Teresa and husband Scott Thomas; two grandsons, Trenton and wife Kim Ross, Carl and wife Lisa Marcum.
Also surviving are three great-grandchildren, Chelsea Ross, Heather and Hannah Thomas; four sisters, Opal Sumner, Dema Baber, Goldie Chancy and Thelma Amburgy; and one brother, Herman Chaney.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, at Arpp & Root Funeral Home, Germantown, with Pastor Tim Woodward officiating. Burial will be in Germantown Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mabel M. Campbell
Mabel M. Campbell, 90, of Vandalia, died Wednesday, March 18, 1998.
She was a former member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Ingomar.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale B. Campbell, in 1963.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Harry and Carol Campbell of Vandalia; one daughter, Bev Smith of Vandalia; one sister, Marie Campbell of Eaton; one brother and sister-in-law, George "Skinny" and Susie Suggs of Dadsville; grandchildren, Tim Campbell and Matthew Smith; brother-in-law, Colin Hawkins of Dayton; and a special cousin, Hazel Rhoades of Fairborn.
Funeral services were Saturday, March 21, at Baker-Hazel Funeral Home, Dayton, with Pastor Henry Seibert officiating. Burial was in Willowview Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Lela J. Zimmerman
Lela J. Zimmerman, 77, formerly of Franklin Street, Eaton, died Wednesday, March 18, 1998, at Whetstone Care Center in Columbus.
Born May 24, 1920, in Parkersburg, W. Va., she was the daughter of the late Charles T. and Elizabeth (Fridley) Zimmerman. She had been employed at Food Filters in Eaton.
Survivors include one brother, Tiffin Zimmerman of Richmond, Ind.; one sister, Mary Lombardi of Columbus, with whom she had resided since 1994; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were Saturday, March 21, at Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Funeral Home, Eaton, with the Rev. Wayne D. Morrison officiating. Burial was in Mound Hill Union Cemetery, Eaton.

Lucile A. Olson
Lucile Anna Olson, 91, died Thursday, March 19, 1998, at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Ind. She had been residing at the home of her daughter, Anna Carlson, near West Alexandria.
Born Oct. 24, 1906, in Norwalk, Ohio, she was the daughter of Ernest and Henrietta (Wolff) Thomas. After her mother died of tuberculosis when she was 5 and her father of a heart attack when she was 12, she was raised by her sister and brother.
In 1924, she traveled with her sister and brother to California by touring car, with many adventures along the way. At a later date, accompanied by her sister, she drove to Colorado, accidentally overturning her car while going up Pike's Peak. After righting the car and straightening the axle, they continued.
She graduated from Western Reserve University in 1928 with a degree in sociology. After her marriage to Carl Olson, they moved to Ashtabula in 1935, where she kept books for Olson's Machine Shop. She moved to Eaton in 1975.
Her past activities included teaching Sunday school, playing piano for Head Start and nursing homes, CONTACT emergency help line volunteer, making and collecting dolls, and visiting and transporting the elderly. She was a member of Eastern Star, Rebekah Lodge, Alpha Garden Club, Home Garden Club and Grace Lutheran Church in Eaton.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Carl Olson, in 1970; her sister and brother, Ethel and Adelbert Thomas.
Survivors include a daughter, Anna A. (Richard) Carlson of West Alexandria; a son, Carl A. (Greta) Olson of Pittsburgh, Pa.; six grandchildren, Karen E. (Robert) Wathen of Albany, Ky., Nola K. Carlson of Miamisburg, Ingrid A. Carlson of Cincinnati, Erica K. Carlson of West Alexandria, Siri A. Olson of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Kurt G. Olson of Miami, Fla.; and three great-grandchildren, Joshua, Lisa and Laura Wathen.
Funeral services were Sunday, March 22, at Barnes Funeral Home-Eaton Chapel, with the Rev. Brian Dillahunt officiating. Burial was in Ashtabula Township Cemetery, Ashtabula.
Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Lutheran Church.

William A. Morrow
William A. Morrow, 76, of North Main Street, Camden, died Saturday, March 21, 1998, at Fort Hamilton Hospital in Hamilton.
Born Jan. 18, 1922, in Camden, he was the son of James and Dorothy (Spivey) Morrow. He retired from Fisher-Body, a division of General Motors in Hamilton, in 1989 after 50 years. Mr. Morrow attended Community Christian Church in West Alexandria and Linderwald Baptist Church in Fairfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his first wife, Betty Morrow, in 1970.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Geraldine Ware Morrow of West Alexandria; two sons and daughters-in-law, William Jr. and Luan Morrow of Bradenton, Fla., Don and Karen Morrow of Eaton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Bill Suman of Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., Linda and Alan Crumbaker of West Alexandria.
Also surviving are one stepson, John M. Ware of West Alexandria; two stepdaughters, Pamela Ruth Printup of Atlanta, Ga., and Merry Jo Delk of Eaton; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Jacques E. Morrow of Hamilton; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Tuesday, March 24, at Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home, West Alexandria, with the Rev. Doug Bottles officiating. Burial was in Twin Valley Cemetery, West Alexandria.

Fannie J. Taylor
Fannie J. Taylor, 97, formerly of Eaton, died Monday evening, March 23, 1998, at Extenda Care in Richmond, Ind.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Barnes Funeral Home-Eaton Chapel.
