John P. Wood Sr.
John P. Wood Sr., 55, of 158 Lakengren Drive, Eaton, died Sunday, Dec. 22, 1996, of cancer.
He was born Aug. 7, 1941, in Mount Sterling, Ky. He attended Middletown City Schools and Miami University, and retired from Armco after 30 years of service. During retirement, he also worked for MPH Crane, Inc. and Henny Penny Corporation. He was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Camden and a member of The Promise Keepers.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie D. (Back) Wood, whom he married March 30, 1962, in Middletown; one daughter and son-in-law, Trina (Wood) and Bob Bronson of Eaton; one son, John P. Wood Jr. of Cincinnati; his mother, Helen M. Wood of Trenton; two grandchildren, Beau and Jake Bronson.
Also surviving are his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Preston and Myrtle Back of Lakengren; one brother and sister-in-law, Ron G. and Mary Wood of Middletown; one sister, Bonita Wood Lampley of Trenton; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Chester G. Wood.
Funeral services were Thursday, Dec. 26, at the First Southern Baptist Church, Camden, with the Rev. Greg Jackson officiating. Burial was in Fairmount Cemetery, Camden. R.C. Nein and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Ethel M. Stayton
Ethel Marie Stayton, 84, a resident of Heartland of Eaton and a formerly of Eldorado, died Monday morning, Dec. 22, 1996. She had resided at Heartland for nearly 10 years.
Born near Eaton and a lifetime resident of Preble County, she was the daughter of George and Ruth (Sample) Mikesell. She was a member of the Eldorado Unitarian Universalist Church, and for many years, an active member of the Association of Unitarian Universalist Women.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles V. "Boss" Stayton; two sisters, Mildred Shurte and Kathleen Ehler; one grandson, Jimmy Snelling; and one stepgreat-grandson, Joey Lawson.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and J.N. Snelling of Eldorado; one sister, Delores Moore of Eaton; one brother, George Mikesell of Eldorado; three great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Justin and Jeannie Snelling; one stepgreat-grandson, Eddie Lawson; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Friday, Dec. 27, at Bussard-Barnes-Vaniman Funeral Home, Eldorado, with the Rev. Kathryn Hawbaker officiating. Burial was in Mound Hill Union Cemetery, Eaton.

F. Lucille F. Benson
F. Lucille Benson, 95, formerly of Camden, died Monday, Dec. 23, 1996, at Wood Glen Nursing Center in Miamisburg.
She was a member of Camden United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Benson was preceded in death by her husband, James Robert Benson, in 1978; and a son, Robert Benson Jr., in 1971.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, James and Sandra Benson of Germantown; two daughters and son-in-law, Mary Fisher of Bucyrus, Gertrude and France Berger of Cape Cod; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Monday, Dec. 30, at Arpp and Root Funeral Home, Germantown, with the Rev. Del Harper officiating. Burial was in Somerville Cemetery.

John O. Snyder
John O. Snyder, 80, of Morrison-Mikesell Road, New Paris, died Thursday, Dec. 26, 1996, at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Ind.
Born Jan. 17, 1916, in Lynn, Ind., he was the son of Nye Howard and Effie (Alexander) Snyder. He retired in 1978 from J.S. Sweet Construction in Cambridge City, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha J. (Cotter) Snyder, in 1995; an infant daughter, in 1939; and a son, Michael Snyder, in 1983.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Haldon Ashton of Middletown, Ind., Patricia Schmutte of Indianapolis, Ind., Diane and Charles Mustard of Richmond, Ind., Debra and Robert Lind of Stewartstown, Pa., Janet Snyder of Indianapolis, Ind., Beth and Scott Cooper of Tiffin.
Also surviving are brothers, Harold, Robert, Lowell and Richard Snyder, all of Richmond, Ind.; a sister, Mildred Juett of Muncie, Ind.; 18 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were Monday, Dec. 30, at Barnes Funeral Home-New Paris Chapel, with Haldon Ashton officiating. Burial was in Springlawn Cemetery, New Paris.

Rita C. Weadick
Sister Rita Celine Weadick, S.C.,74, of Dayton, died Friday, Dec. 27, 1996.
She spent 37 years in the field of education in the Dayton area, having taught at St. Joseph Commercial High School, Alter High School, and was a librarian and counselor at St. Charles until 1984. She worked as a technician at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton from 1986-89 and after her retirement in 1989 did volunteer work at Maria Joseph Home and Good Samaritan Hospital.
She is survived by many cousins.
Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Monday, Dec. 30 at the Sisters of Charity Motherhouse Chapel in Delhi Township near Cincinnati, with burial following. Westbrock Funeral Home, Dayton, was in charge of arrangements.

George F. Wadlington
George F. Wadlington, 68, of 911 W. Main St., Eaton, died unexpectedly Saturday evening, Dec. 28, 1996, in Miamisburg.
Arrangements are pending at Barnes Funeral Home-Eaton Chapel.

Ruth O. Horine
Ruth O. Horine, 77, of Hillcrest Drive, Eaton, died unexpectedly Sunday, Dec. 29, 1996, at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Ind.
Born April 16, 1919, in Preble County, she was the daughter of William and Augusta (Saunders) Kendrick. She was a 1937 graduate of Eaton High School, was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star, Delta Theta Tau Sorority and Eaton Country Club, all of Eaton.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Ralph L. Horine; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Arlen Aukerman of Eaton, and Dawn and Vaughn Call of Camden; half-brothers, Richard Handley of Eaton, Bill Kendrick of Ross and Donald Kendrick of Tiffin; grandchildren, Robin and Eric Worley and Thomas Aukerman; great-grandchildren, Kira, Brandon and Kaitlyn Worley.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Charles, Clark, Bernard and James Handley; and a sister, Catherine H. Baker.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Jan. 2, at 1:30 p.m. at Barnes Funeral Home-Eaton Chapel, 220 E. Main St., Eaton, with Dr. Phillip D. Malone officiating. Eastern Star services will be at 1:15 p.m. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until time of services on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mound Hill Union Cemetery, Eaton.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Eaton Emergency Squad.

Evelyn E. Evans
Evelyn E. Evans, 78, formerly of Rockridge Road, Lewisburg, died Sunday morning, Dec. 29, 1996, at Heartland of Eaton, where she had been a resident since 1992.
Born March 5, 1918, in Montgomery County, she was the daughter of Russel and Martha F. (Brooks) Pease. She was a 1937 graduate of Dixie High School and had lived in Preble County since 1941.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn E. Evans, in 1994; and a brother, Vernon Pease.
Survivors include her mother, Martha F. Pease of New Lebanon; two sons, Ralph and Marvin Evans, both of Lewisburg; four daughters, Janet Worley of Lewisburg, Carol Jackson of Loveland, Linda Teague of Tennessee and Shirley Utzsinger of Dayton.
Also surviving are 31 grandchildren; 75 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren; four brothers, Alvin Pease of Indiana, Virgil Pease of Florida, Herman Pease of Eaton and Donald Pease of Farmersville; one sister, Alberta Neptune of Farmersville; .
Funeral services were Tuesday, Dec. 31, at Barnes Funeral Home-Lewisburg Chapel, with the Rev. George Pennington officiating. Burial was in Roselawn Cemetery, Lewisburg.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lewisburg Emergency Unit.

Frank Holsinger
Frank Holsinger, 96, formerly of Kimmel Road, Eldorado, died Sunday, Dec. 29, 1996, at Greenbriar Nursing Center in Eaton.
Arrangements are pending at Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Michael Chapel, West Manchester.

Robert Moysey
Robert Moysey, 74, formerly of Eaton, died Monday, Jan. 13, 1997, in Bradenton, Fla., after an extended illness.
Born June 28, 1922, in Sandusky, he was the son of Glenn and Ruth (Coe) Moysey. He had previously owned Bob Moysey's Dry Cleaners in Eaton, had been a deputy registrar and worked many years for the Ohio License Bureau, was a former Eaton City council member and former mayor of Eaton.
Mr. Moysey was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, a member of American Legion Post 215 of Eaton, a former commander of Eaton VFW Post 8066 and a former commander of a VFW Post in Florida.
Survivors include a son, Robert Moysey of Oxford, Miss.; two daughters, Jone Simpson and Jill Davis, both of Eaton; one granddaughter; three stepgrandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; two brothers, Charles Moysey of Sarasota, Fla., and Glenn Moysey Jr. of Eaton; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Walt Moysey.
Funeral services were Friday, Jan. 17, at Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home, West Alexandria, with the Rev. Wayne Morrison officiating. Burial was in Mound Hill Union Cemetery, Eaton.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Eaton Emergency Squad.

James E. Watson
James E. Watson, 81, of Eaton, died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 1997, at Greenbriar Nursing Center in Eaton.
Born June 1, 1915, in Delaware County, Ind., he had lived in Grant County most of his life. He was a self-employed farmer for 40 years, retiring in 1993. Mr. Watson had worked in sales for the wholesale grocery business for 24 years, and also worked as manager of McMann & Lieb Wholesale Grocery Company.
He was a 52-year member of #105 F&AM Samaritan Lodge and the Ft. Wayne Scottish Rite. He was a former member of the First United Methodist Church in Marion, Ind.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Sue E. and Richard Burmann of Eaton; a son and daughter-in-law, Lori and James E. Watson of Walnut Grove, Calif.; two sisters, Lois Brough of Marion, Ind., and Phyllis Hays of Converse, Ind.; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were Friday, Jan. 17, at Raven Funeral Home, Marion, Ind., with the Rev. Glen Traver officiating. Burial was in Grant Memorial Park, Marion, Ind.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Grant County Humane Society, 2768 E. Tulip Drive, Marion, Ind. 46952; or in memory of his late wife, Nelle, to the Alzheimer's Association, 9135 N. Meridian Suite B-4, Indianapolis, Ind. 46260.
