Dr. Charles W. Boesenberg
Dr. Charles W. Boesenberg died Tuesday, March 24, 1998, at Kaseman Presbyterian Hospice, Albuquerque, N.M., after a long battle with cancer.
He was a graduate of Eaton High School, Ohio University and the Cleveland School of Chiropody, where he was a member of Theta Chi Fraternity. He taught at the Chiropody School for a few years while establishing a practice in Cleveland.
He moved his family and practice to Albuquerque, N.M., in the early 1950s. He retired in 1996 after practicing for 50 years. His last visit to Eaton and Camden was in October 1996.
Survivors include a daughter, Laura (Duane) Curto of Albuquerque, N.M.; Dr. Karl (Dr. Susan) Boesenberg of Anchorage, Alaska; Kurt (Lisa) Boesenberg of Okanogan, Wash.; grandchildren, Amanda Curto, Rachel and Drew Boesenberg, Tarl and Sophia Boesenberg.
Also surviving are a sister, Priscilla (Cecil) Davis of Toledo; a niece, Ann Taylor Bening of Toledo; a nephew, Tom (Teri) Taylor of Toledo; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and several cousins in the Preble County area.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Harriet; his parents, Henry and Lottie Boesenberg; brothers, Emerson, Albert and Richard Boesenberg; a sister, Beulah Taylor; half brothers and sisters, Paul, George, Hilda Nelson and May Cail.
Memorial services were Friday, April 3, at United Central Methodist Church, Albuquerque, N.M.
Treva K. Curtis
Treva K. (Keckler) Curtis, 90, of 2373 Harrison Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio 45211, died Wednesday, March 25, 1998.
Born Jan. 28, 1908, in Eldorado, she was the daughter of William H. and Theresa Keckler of Eldorado and Eaton.
Survivors include her husband, Gilbert F. Curtis; two daughters, Patricia (William) Long and Kathleen (William) Morris; four grandchildren, Deborah Clarke, Michael Long, Cynthia Vanderkolk and Kimberly Morris; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Saturday, March 28, at Wyoming Baptist Church, Wyoming, Ohio, followed by burial in Otterbein Cemetery (Darke County). Thomas Justin Memorial, Cincinnati, was in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Samuel A. Hollis
Samuel A. Hollis, 90, of 105 Meadow Lane, Hartford City, Ind., died late Tuesday night, April 14, 1998, at Blackford County Hospital there after an extended illness.
Born May 15, 1907, in Berkeley, Calif., he was the son of Arthur C. and Mabel Jane (Gardiner) Hollis. He had resided in Hartford City since childhood, graduated from Hartford City High School, and received his pharmacy degree from the Indianapolis School of Pharmacy (now Butler University). He was a registered pharmacist, retiring in 1981.
Mr. Hollis was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church and had taught Sunday school for many years. He was a member of the Hartford City Rotary Club.
Survivors include his wife, V. Helen (Nelson) Hollis, whom he married Nov. 22, 1931; three daughters, Valorie Ann (Mrs. Warren) Colglazier, H. Kay (Mrs. Keith) Marlatt, both of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Carol Lee (Mrs. Robert) Armacost of Eaton; two sisters, Kathryn (Mrs. Richard) Dee of Minneapolis, Minn., and Elizabeth (Mrs. Herschell) King of Hamilton, Mont.; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Helen Tidd and Aldah Robbins.
Funeral services were Sunday, April 19, at Grace United Methodist Church, Hartford City, Ind., followed by burial in Hartford City Cemetery. Waters Funeral Home, Inc., Hartford City, Ind., was in charge of arrangements.

Lucille V. Geeting
Lucille Viola Geeting, 86, formerly of 129 W. Chicago St., Eaton, died Wednesday, April 15, 1998, at Heartland of Eaton.
A native and lifelong resident of Preble County, she was born Oct. 20, 1911, the daughter of the late Earl and Emma M. (Kreitzer) Lesh. She had been a member of Grace Lutheran Church since 1936 and a member of the Eaton Grange for more than 50 years.
Her husband, J. Albert Geeting, died Feb. 10, 1984. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Harvey Lesh; and a sister, Ethel Lesh.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Janet L. and Larry Paxson of Eaton; three grandchildren, Celeste Phelps, John Paxson and Christine Cheek; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Orville Lesh of Englewood; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Sunday, April 19, at Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Funeral Home, Eaton, with the Rev. Jeff Hill officiating. Burial was in Preble Memory Gardens, West Alexandria.

Leah M. Beckett
Leah Maxine Beckett, 82, of Richmond, Ind., died unexpectedly Wednesday, April 15, 1998, at her home.
Born April 11, 1916, in Preble County, she was the daughter of Elmer and Effie (Creech) Bostick. She had lived in Richmond since 1938. Mrs. Beckett was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church and the Richmond Senior Community Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Ora Beckett, in 1990; a brother, Elmer Bostick; and a sister, Mary Helen Sizelove.
Survivors include one stepson, Raymond Lloyd Beckett of Fairhaven; two stepdaughters, Irma Fitzharris Coate of Palm Beach, Fla., and Betty Jean McNew of Richmond, Ind.; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Ralph Bostick of Richmond, Ind.; nieces and nephews including Lucille Sheets of Richmond, Ind.
Funeral services were Saturday, April 18, at Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Chapel, Richmond, Ind., followed by burial in Fairhaven Cemetery (Preble County).

Shirley A. Warner
Shirley A. Warner, 59, of U.S. 35 West, Eaton, died Wednesday, April 15, 1998, at Hospice of Dayton.
She was born April 20, 1938, in Dayton. She was a member of West Alexandria Community Christian Church.
Survivors include her husband, James Warner; one son, Jimmy Warner Jr. of Eaton; six daughters, Candy Balstic of Dayton, Darlene Hammond, Robin Frock, Christina Thomas and Diane Box, all of Eaton, and Rosie Dunn of West Manchester; her mother, Evelyn (Jackson) Walden Bell of New Lebanon; 31 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, John Walden of Arcanum; and one sister, Nancy Brown of Brookville.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Walden.
Funeral services were Saturday, April 18, at West Alexandria Community Christian Church, with the Rev. Doug Bottles officiating. Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home, West Alexandria, was in charge of arrangements.
Margaret A. Strickler
Margaret Amanda Strickler, 83, formerly of West Manchester and New Madison, died Thursday, April 16, 1998, at Gade Nursing Home in Greenville.
Born May 30, 1914, in Darke County, she was the daughter of Phares and Emma (Wertenbaker) Longanecker. She was a member of the Ithaca Open Bible Church.
Survivors include four daughters, Phyllis Strickler of Greenville, Joyce Maglott of Jeannette, Pa., Janet Strickler of Eldorado and Patsy Whye of McKeesport, Pa.; one son, Charles Strickler of Castine; a half brother, Benjamin Gallihugh; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Kathryn E. Lipps; and a brother, William Longanecker.
Graveside services were Friday, April 17, at Castine Cemetery, Castine, with the Rev. Tim Means officiating. Barnes Funeral Home-Eaton Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
Howard C. Becker
Howard C. Becker, 90, of Columbus and formerly of Eaton, died Thursday, April 16, 1998, in Columbus.
Born July 26, 1907, in Eaton, he was the son of Charles and Harriet M. (Mitchell) Becker. He was a 1926 graduate of Eaton High School. Mr. Becker was a retired agent for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company and had worked for Becker Brothers Construction.
He was a U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II; a member and past commander of American Legion Post #215, Eaton; and a member of VFW Post #8066, Eaton.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence M. (Barnes) Becker, in 1987; a son, Donald Barnes Becker, in 1964; and a sister, Dorothy M. Hamilton, in 1963.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Marcia M. and Robert B. Smith of Columbus; grandsons and their spouses, Robert G. and Christy Smith, Douglas J. and Dana Rae Smith, Craig A. and Lori Smith, and Kirk J. Smith, all of Columbus; and great-grandchildren, Kelly, Jason, Justin, Natalie, MaKenzie, Chelsea, Nathan, Dustin and Jennifer.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 23, at Mound Hill Union Cemetery, Eaton, with the Rev. Richard Van Tine officiating, followed by military honors by American Legion Post #215. Barnes Funeral Home-Eaton Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Shelly F. Lamberth Sr.
Shelly F. Lamberth Sr., 73, of 783 Brande Drive (Lakengren), Eaton, died unexpectedly Thursday, April 16, 1998, at his home.
He was a 1949 graduate of Ohio State University and a member of Theta Chi Fraternity Alumni there. He was well-known in the Dayton area as a certified kitchen designer and was currently associated with Kitchen Distributors in Springboro.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II; is the commander of CBI; a member of American Legion Post #215 of Eaton; and Elks Lodge #93 in Hamilton. He was an active member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Eaton and a former member of Grace United Methodist Church in Dayton.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Virginia "Ginny" (Conover) Lamberth; a daughter, Cathy Lamberth of Huntsville, Ala.; sons and daughters-in-law, Shelly Jr. and Jade Lamberth of LaCrosse, Wis., Mark and Cynthia Lamberth of Carmel, Ind.
Also surviving are a sister, Pauline Waldrop of Washington Township (Montgomery County); a brother and sister-in-law, Charles H. and Jean Lamberth of Eclectic, Ala.; grandchildren, Holly and Scott Barrett of Madison, Wis., Heather M. and Wesley S. Lamberth of LaCrosse, Wis., Nate J., Gabe P. and Alex F. Lamberth of Carmel, Ind.; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sherman and Evelyn Lamberth; and a brother, Sherman Lamberth Jr.
Funeral services were Monday, April 20, at Tobias Funeral Home, Far Hills Chapel, Kettering, with Dr. Phillip D. Malone and the Rev. Kelly Brown officiating. Burial was in Miami Valley Memory Gardens.

Robert L. Craig
Robert L. Craig, 64, of Eaton, died Saturday, April 18, 1998, at Hospice of Dayton.
Born Feb. 1, 1934, in Eaton, he was the son of the late Carl F. and Ocie (Thompson) Craig. He retired as a supervisor from Parker Hannifin Corporation after 37 years.
Mr. Craig was a member of the Eaton Church of the Brethren; Bolivar Masonic Lodge #82, F&AM of Eaton; the Dayton Model A Ford Club; and was an avid bowler.
Survivors include his wife, Geraldine (Carman) Craig, whom he married Oct. 15, 1977; daughters, Angel Craig of Phoenix, Ariz., and Robin Craig; stepsons, Terry Emrick of Indianapolis, Ind., and Jerry Emrick of Lewisburg; stepdaughters, Karen Grimes of Cincinnati and Debbie Petry of Eaton; two grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and sisters, Ruby Moysey of Eaton, Vera Kisling of Florida and Carol Oldfather of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by a son, Arthur A. Craig, in 1976; a brother, Lloyd Craig; sisters, Martha Watson, Anna Mary Poland, Doris Schleiger, Verna Mae Craig and Betty Jean Craig.
Funeral services were Tuesday, April 21, at Barnes Funeral Home-Preble Memory Gardens Chapel, West Alexandria, with Pastor Greg Hyre and Marion Noll officiating. Burial was in Preble Memory Gardens, West Alexandria.
