Fred Johnson
Fred Johnson, 75, of West Alexandria, died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 1998, at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.
Born Sept. 15, 1922, in Dayton, Tenn., he was the son of Robert and Ada Mae (Cox) Johnson. He had lived in Preble County since 1952, and retired in 1975 after 25 years at McCall's in Dayton.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Merle L. (Miles) Johnson; two sons, Billy F. Johnson of West Alexandria and Robert L. Johnson of Eaton; two sisters, Ethel M. Ferry of Sodie Daisy, Tenn., and Vesta "Pap" Louise Miles of Winfield, Ala.; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Johnnie Johnson; and four sisters, Katie J. Dotson, Dessie Hickman, Ruby L. Hickman and Nellie Hickman.
Funeral services were Saturday, Aug. 8, at Barnes Funeral Home-Preble Memory Gardens Chapel, West Alexandria, with the Rev. Lowell T. Spencer officiating. Burial was in Preble Memory Gardens, West Alexandria.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Fund-Preble County Unit, or to the Eaton Emergency Squad.

Bertie C. Randall
Bertie C. Randall of Fort Myers, Fla., died Thursday, Aug. 6, 1998.
A native of Dayton, she had been a resident of Florida since 1980, moving from Eaton where the family had lived for many years.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Chet Gehrig of North Fort Myers, Fla.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Tharon Randall of Cincinnati, Patrick and Judith Randall of Austin, Texas; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five nieces and four nephews.
Funeral services were Saturday, Aug. 8, at Harvey-Engelhardt-Metz Funeral Homes, Fort Myers, Fla., followed by burial in Royal Palm Cemetery, Punta Gorda, Fla.

Leslie F. Jones
Leslie F. Jones, 89, of Eaton, died Thursday, Aug. 6, 1998, at Heartland of Eaton after an extended illness.
A native and lifelong resident of Preble County, he was born Jan. 20, 1909, the son of the late William and Leona (Blair) Jones. He was a retired Preble County farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth (Shank) Jones, whom he married Aug. 20, 1931.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family, with the Rev. Jackie Marshall officiating. There was no public calling. Burial was in Mound Hill Union Cemetery, Eaton. Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Funeral Home, Eaton, was in charge of arrangements.

Antonio J. Ochoa
Antonio Jesus Ochoa, son of Jesus and Jennifer (Ernst) Ochoa of Somerset, Ky., was stillborn Wednesday, Aug. 5, 1998, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset.
In addition to his parents, survivors include grandparents, Rebecca Scott and husband Robert Scott of Richmond, Ind., Amelia and Carlos Ochoa of Texas, the Rev. Jim Ernst and wife Chris Ernst of Oak Hill, Ohio; maternal great-grandparents, William Ernst and wife Esther Ernest of Seamen, Ohio, Hilda and Jack Wilhelm of Eaton, and Captolia Ernst of Eaton; two sisters, Rebecca and Miranda Ochoa; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Aug. 11, at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jim Ernst officiating. Burial was in Mound Hill Union Cemetery, Eaton. Barnes Funeral Home-Eaton Chapel was in charge of local arrangements.

Paul E. Hamm
Paul Eugene Hamm, 62, of High Street, New Paris, died Thursday, Aug. 6, 1998, at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Ind. Born Jan. 29, 1936, in West Alexandria, he was the son of Paul and Helen (Chowning) Hamm. He had retired from Carl S. Akey in 1995 after 17 years, and was a U.S. Navy veteran.
Survivors include his wife of 15 years, Jean Hamm; a son, Tim Hamm of Richmond, Ind.; a daughter, Beverly Hamm of West Jefferson, Ohio; a grandson, Kyle Hamm of New Lebanon; his mother, Helen Hamm of West Alexandria; a brother, Richard Hamm of West Alexandria; and three sisters, Marilyn Taylor of Beavercreek, Anita Summers of West Alexandria and Karen Ziemba of Phoenix, Ariz.
Funeral services were Monday, Aug. 10, at Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home, West Alexandria, with the Rev. Raymond Rothwell officiating. Burial was in Sugar Grove Cemetery, West Alexandria.

William E. Hart
William E. Hart, 67, of Lewisburg and Panama City Beach, Fla., died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 1998, at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn; children, Theresa, David, Michael and Mary; and five grandchildren.
Memorial Mass was held Monday, Aug. 10, at St. Helen Catholic Church, Dayton. Meyer-Boehmer & Feucht Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to Miami Valley Hospital Burn Unit, 31 Wyoming St., Dayton, Ohio 45409. Make checks payable to Miami Valley Health Foundation.

John A. George
John Ancil George, 82, of Camden, died Saturday, Aug. 8, 1998, at Hospice of Dayton.
Born Feb. 11, 1916, in London, Ky., he was the son of William Arthur and Amanda (Jones) George. He was a farmer for over 30 years, and retired in 1985 from Landmark in Eaton after 26 years of service. He was a founding member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Camden, and was a member of Camden Lodge #159 F&AM.
He married Eula Lee Chesnut on Dec. 22, 1934, and she preceded him in death in 1991.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, John A. George of Camden and special friend, Jan Hart of Eaton, William Earl and Sandra Sue George, Keith and Esther George, Gayle and Vicki George, all of Camden, Kenneth and Patricia George of Gratis; a son-in-law, James Flory of Camden; two sisters, Eula Cottingim of Plano, Ill., and Hazel Cottingim of Camden.
Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, Steven D. George of Eaton, April Adams of Camden, Mark George of College Corner, Curt George, Vicki Taylor and Connie Deaton of Gratis, Kimberly Thompson of West Carrollton, Kenneth A. George of Hollansburg, Susan Hobbs, Rob George and Jill Flory, all of Camden; and nine great-grandchildren, Christopher and Eric Taylor, Robbie and Aaron Taylor, Cliff and Heather Michael, Andrew and Leslie George, and Taylor Hobbs.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Flory; and three sisters, Goldie Rudder, Gladys Robinson and Vina Cottingim.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Aug. 11, at the First Southern Baptist Church, Camden, with the Rev. Greg Jackson officiating. Burial was in Fairmount Cemetery, Camden. R.C. Nein & Sons-Limber Funeral Home, Camden, was in charge of arrangements

Dorothy D. Napier
Dorothy D. Napier, 73, of Judy Avenue, Eaton, died Saturday, Aug. 8, 1998, at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Ind., shortly after being admitted.
Born Oct. 13, 1924, in Morehead, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Bennie Edsol and Addie Ball. She had attended Glenwood Grace Brethren Church.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Bennie E. and Kitty Napier of Templeton, Mass., Ricky L. Napier of Eaton, Robert D. Napier of West Alexandria, W. Keith Napier of Ashville, Ohio, and Anna Marie Napier of Eaton; a brother, Thurman Ball of Eaton; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Edsol Napier in 1995; two sons, Ronnie Napier in 1945 and Kenneth Earl Napier in 1997; and two brothers, Darrell Ball and Johnny Ball.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, at Barnes Funeral Home-Preble Memory Gardens Chapel, West Alexandria, with the Rev. Harold P. Combs officiating. Burial will be Preble Memory Gardens, West Alexandria.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Middletown, 4414 Lewis St., Middletown, Ohio 45044.

Robert L. Harris Jr.
Robert L. "Bobby" Harris Jr., 48, of Chestnut Street, Lewisburg, died Monday, Aug. 10, 1998, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton after an extended illness.
Born Oct. 14, 1949, in Dayton, he was the son of Robert L. Sr. and Loretta D. (Hoff) Harris. He was a 1969 graduate of Lewisburg High School, was a truck driver for Archer Daniels Midland at Lewisburg, and was a member of the Lewisburg Trail Riders.
He was preceded in death by his mother in 1973.
Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Cathy A. (Coburn) Harris; father and stepmother, Robert L. Sr. and Josephine Harris of Lewisburg; three sons, Kirby M. Harris, Jeffrey A. Harris and Beau C. Harris, all of Lewisburg; three daughters, Tobianne R. Harris of Brookville, Melanie J. Harris and Amy Beth Harris, both of Lewisburg; two grandchildren; two sisters, Marilyn Dempsey of Lewisburg and Patricia Ann Nieman of Maplewood, Ohio; a stepbrother, Paul Imes of New Athens, Ill.; and a stepsister, Janet Turvene of Greenville.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, at Barnes Funeral Home-Lewisburg Chapel, 411 N. Commerce St., with the Rev. James Lehman officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery, Lewisburg. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lewisburg Emergency Unit and/or to the American Cancer Society-Preble County Unit.

Edith M. Coleman
Edith M. Coleman, 93, formerly of Bellefontaine Street, Wapakoneta, died early Tuesday morning, Aug. 11, 1998, at Wapakoneta Manor.
Born Oct. 2, 1904, near Lakeview, Ohio, she was the daughter of Job and Mary (Landes) Cavinder.
Survivors include a sister, Flossie Blockburger of Delphos, Ohio; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Bernard "Jim" Coleman, in 1959; two brothers, Ivan Cavinder and Jesse Cavinder; and three sisters, Myrtle Weber, Ruth Watson and an infant sister.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, at Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, Wapakoneta, followed by burial in Glen Haven Cemetery, Springfield. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Myrtle L. Johnson
Myrtle L. Johnson, 71, of Farmersville, died Monday, Aug. 24, 1998, at Hospice of Dayton.
Born Sept. 29, 1926, in Brodhead, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Walter Cecil and Sarah Elizabeth (Singleton) Fugett.
Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Kash Johnson; daughters and son-in-law, Shirley and Robert Mack of New Lebanon, Barbara Harris of Orland Park, Ill.; a son, Vernon Johnson of Hanover Park, Ill.; a sister, Wanda Callahan of Lemont, Ill.; brothers, Ralph and Worley Fugett, both of Dayton; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Elmer J. and Hubert Fugett.
Funeral services were Thursday, Aug. 27, at Barnes Funeral Home-Preble Memory Gardens Chapel, West Alexandria, with Pastor William Harrison officiating. Burial was in Preble Memory Gardens, West Alexandria.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton.
