Joseph Jackson
Joseph "Joe" Jackson, 76, of Eaton, died Wednesday, April 8, 1998, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Eaton.
Born April 23, 1921, in Norton, Va., he was the son of George Henry and Callie (Steele) Jackson. He was involved in the construction business for many years. Mr. Jackson was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of Salem Lutheran Church, West Alexandria.
Survivors include two sisters, Helen Darnel of Phoenix, Ariz., and Jeanette Burke of Harrodsburg, Ky.; three brothers, William Jackson of Norton, Va., Charles Jackson of Bluff City, Tenn., and Wayne Jackson of Avondale, Ariz.; nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nannie Alberta (Stanley) Jackson, in 1976; sisters, Elizabeth Crain and Mary Jane Jackson; and brothers, George, Barry Jay, Edward, Blaine, Samuel, James and Robert Jackson.
Funeral services were Saturday, April 11, at Barnes Funeral Home-Eaton Chapel, with the Rev. Daniel E. Snider officiating. Burial was in Concord Cemetery (Dixon Township), Eaton.
Barbara S. Mowery
Barbara S. Mowery, 52, of Miamisburg, died Wednesday, April 8, 1998, at Sycamore Medical Center in Miamisburg.
Born July 11, 1945, she was the daughter of Howard and Anna Louise (Mowen) Moses. She was employed at Weyerheuser Co. in Eaton.
Survivors include her husband, Vernon R. Mowery; her father, Howard Moses of Eaton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael H. and Shelly Paulin of Englewood, Randy S. and Mandie Paulin of Mason; a daughter, Dawn Marie Collins of Texas.
Also surviving are two stepsons, Jeffrey A. Mowery of Miamisburg and Danny R. Mowery of California; two brothers, Jim Moses of Germantown and Bill Moses of Eaton; three sisters, Margaret McTeer of Camden, Nancy Wikle of West Alexandria and Susie Moses of Eaton; and 12 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother.
Funeral services were Saturday, April 11, at Arpp & Root Funeral Home, Germantown, with Pastor David Wikle officiating. Burial was in Twin Valley Cemetery.
Kenan I. Isljamovski
Kenan I. Isljamovski, 67, of 149 Finland Drive (Lakengren), Eaton, died unexpectedly Thursday, April 9, 1998, at McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital in Oxford.
Born July 6, 1930, in Desovo, Makedonia, Yugoslavia, he was the son of Isa and Adjer Isljamovski.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Liliana (Vasilkovska) Isljamovski; two sons and daughters-in-law, Sinan and Susie Isljamovski, Tony and Jan Isljamovski, all of Eaton; daughters, Usnie Isljamovska, Gulen Isljamovska and Chenie Isljamovska, all of Eaton; and grandchildren, Miki, David, Jimmy, Kenny, Nathan and Logan Islyamovski, Doug Wells, Mark and Nicole Wells, and Stephany Swope.
Funeral services were Monday, April 13, at Barnes Funeral Home-Eaton Chapel, with the Rev. Greg Hyre officiating.

Elbert R. Balsbaugh
Mabel M. Balsbaugh
Elbert R. Balsbaugh, 94, and Mabel M. (Landis) Balsbaugh, 85, husband and wife of 61 years, died within hours of one another on Saturday, April 11, 1998, at their Englewood home.
He was a retired farmer and she worked for many years as a self-employed book binder. They were members of the Old German Baptist Brethren Church, Salem District.
Survivors include one daughter, Betty Lee Judd of Huber Heights; three sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Bonnie Balsbaugh of Flora, Ind., Kenneth C. and June Balsbaugh of Bradford, J. Dale and Kathy Lorraine Balsbaugh of West Milton; 16 grandchildren; and 38 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Balsbaugh is also survived by a sister, Mary Jane Layman of Empire, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Ellen (Bollinger) Balsbaugh; brothers, Lloyd, Harry and Paul Balsbaugh; and sisters, May Clark, Cleo Garber, Alice Miller and Ruth Boocher.
Mrs. Balsbaugh is also survived by a brother, Levi Landis of Ripon, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse O. and Bertha Jane (Wenger) Landis.
The couple was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Judy Strike; and a daughter-in-law, Nancy Custer Balsbaugh.
A prayer service will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, April 15, at Kindred Funeral Home, 400 Union Blvd., Englewood. Funeral services will follow at 10 a.m. at Salem Old German Baptist Brethren Church (corner of Barnes and Sweet Potato Ridge roads), with Herman Shuman and Phillip King officiating. Burial will be in Royal Oak Memorial Gardens, Brookville.
Paul F. Witter
Paul F. Witter, 96, formerly of Camden, died Sunday, April 12, 1998, at Ashton Woods Rehabilitation Center in Atlanta, Ga.
Born March 24, 1902, in Camden, he was the son of George and Mary (Booker) Witter. He was a self-employed interior decorator, retiring at the age of 88. Mr. Witter was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Camden; was a 70-year member of Camden Lodge #159, F&AM; and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include a niece, Marietta Sue (Witter) McGlothin and her husband, Harold of Stone Mountain, Ga.; two great-nieces, Rhonda and Linda Smith; and a great-nephew, Michael Bennett.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Lloyd, Leroy and Darold Witter.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, April 14, at R.C. Nein & Sons-Limber Funeral Home/Willard Moss Jr. Memorial Chapel, Camden. Camden Lodge #159, F&AM also conducted Masonic services.

Charles R. Gibbins Sr.
Charles R. "Pat" Gibbins Sr., 82, of Paddock Road, Eaton, died Thursday, Aug. 13, 1998, at his home.
Born Feb. 25, 1916, in Preble County, he was the son of Harry C. and Bertha (Nunning) Gibbins. He was a 1934 graduate of Dixon High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a Jackson and Dixon township farmer all of his life, and was a member of the Preble County Farm Bureau.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Sarah Lou (Shireman) Gibbins; sons and daughters-in-law, Charles R. Jr. and Janelle Gibbins of Medway, Jim A. and Barb Gibbins of Eaton; a daughter and son-in-law, Carol K. and Gale M. Weisenbarger of Eaton; brothers, Thomas Gibbins of Eaton, Harry Jr. and Martha Gibbins of Camden; two sisters, Jane Poos and Betty Gibbins, both of Eaton; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert P. Gibbins, in 1991.
Funeral services were Monday, Aug. 17, at the Full Gospel Temple, Eaton, with the Rev. Raymond Rothwell officiating. Burial, with full military graveside services, was in Mound Hill Union Cemetery, Eaton. Barnes Funeral Home-Eaton Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Jon E. Jefferson
Jon E. Jefferson, 59, of Hot Springs, Ark., died Tuesday, July 28, 1998, at St. Joseph Hospital there, after an illness of one year.
Born in 1938 in Eaton, he was the son of John F. "Fred" and Helen N. (Bunn) Jefferson. He had worked as a chemist in the fruit juice industry, and was a U.S. Navy veteran.
Survivors include his wife of one month, Betty Jefferson; three daughters, Shawn of Madison, Wis., Lori and Allyson of Hot Springs, Ark.; seven grandchildren; one brother, Fredric E. Jefferson of Hot Springs, Ark.; an uncle, Clarence Bunn of Eaton; seven nieces and nephews; and cousins.
Funeral services were held at the convenience of the family.
Wilma L. Carr
Wilma L. (Sloan) Carr, 81, of Camden, died Thursday morning, Aug. 13, 1998, at McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital in Oxford.
Born Feb. 2, 1917, in Weeping Water, Neb., she was the daughter of Lee and Mabel (McNamee) Sloan. She married William E. Carr on May 6, 1945, in Camden. Mrs. Carr was secretary at Camden Elementary School for 14 years, retiring in 1977. She attended the West Elkton Church of Christ and was a member of the Gratis Senior Citizens.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Ruth Doty of Camden; a sister-in-law, Kathleen Otto of Camden; a granddaughter, Karen (Phil) Vienhaus of Englewood; three step-grandchildren, Donald Grimes and Threasa (David) Croy of Oxford and Dale (Linda) Grimes of Millville; 11 step-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, Lloyd Sloan and Dale Sloan; and one sister, Montes Keckler.
Funeral services were Saturday, Aug. 15, at R.C. Nein & Sons-Limber Funeral Home, Camden, with the Rev. Henry Boggs officiating. Burial was in Fairmount Cemetery, Camden.
Aileen M. Cuzzort
Aileen M. Cuzzort, 78, of Miamisburg, died Sunday, Aug. 16, 1998, at Southview Hospital, Dayton
She was a former resident of Gratis, and was a retired employee of Frigidaire after 30 years of service.
Survivors include a son, Donald M. (Mae Fern) Stanze of Camden; two stepsons, Edward D. (Carolyn) Cuzzort of Bellbrook, Randy J. (Nancy) Cuzzort of Union; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; three nieces and one nephew.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Cuzzort, in 1993; and a sister, Vera Patton.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, at the First Brethren Church, Gratis, with the Rev. Bob French officiating. The family will receive friends at Gebhart-Schmidt-Parramore Funeral Home, 508 E. Linden Ave., Miamisburg, from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, and at the church one hour prior to services on Wednesday.

Mary E. Vice
Mary E. Vice, 83, formerly of Camden Road, Eaton, died Sunday evening, Aug. 16, 1998, at Hawthorn Glen Nursing Home in Middletown after an extended illness.
Born Sept. 14, 1914, in Middletown, she was the daughter of William D. and Josephine (Chester) Medley. She moved to Gasper Township (Preble County) in 1948.
Survivors include three sons, Gerald Vice of Houston, Miss., Harley David Vice of Eaton and Michael Ray Vice of Hamilton; three daughters, Velma June Flynn of Loranger, La., Wilma Jean Crouse of Somerville and Wanda Sue Pheanis of Eaton; 18 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Bonnie Rose Redd of Middletown.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harley E. Vice, in June 1992; two brothers, Woodrow Wilson Medley and John William Medley; a sister, Virginia Rogers; and a granddaughter, Edith Kay Flynn.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, at Barnes Funeral Home-Eaton Chapel, 220 E. Main St., Eaton, with the Rev. Larry Abbott officiating. Burial will be in Mound Hill Union Cemetery, Eaton.
