William M. Schaefer
William M. "Bill" Schaefer, 58, of Lewisburg, died Monday, Aug. 17, 1998, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton.
Born July 10, 1940, in Dayton, he was the son of the late William C. and Eleanor (Pleasant) Schaefer. He was a 1958 graduate of Brookville High School, an Urbana College graduate with a B.A. in business administration and had attended the University of Dayton. He had lived in the Lewisburg area since 1973.
Mr. Schaefer retired after 20 years as a MSG Sgt. with the U.S. Army, was owner/operator of the S & R Sunoco from 1979 to 1981, was the first Tri-County North treasurer from 1983 to 1986, and was an Allstate Insurance Agent in Greenville.
Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Judith (Albert) Schaefer; sons and daughters-in-law, Allen C. and Barbara L. Ray of Dayton, Bryan M. and Leslie D. Ray of Lewisburg, Craig S. and Lesley L. Ray of West Manchester; a daughter and son-in-law, Danielle N. and Scott A. Varner of Lewisburg; grandchildren, Chelsea and Kayla Ray and Lindsey Varner; and a half sister, Marna Warnken of Elmira, N.Y.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and stepmother, Alta (Conklin) Schaefer.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, at Barnes Funeral Home-Lewisburg Chapel, 411 N. Commerce St., Lewisburg, with the Rev. Jon Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery, Lewisburg. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, at the funeral home.

Ruth M. Remaklus
Ruth M. Remaklus, 71, of Eaton, died Monday, Aug. 17, 1998, at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Ind.
Born Aug. 23, 1926, in Eaton, she was the daughter of the late Homer and Eula (Tipton) Piatt. She was a 1944 graduate of Eaton High School and a 1948 graduate of the Miami Valley Hospital School of Nursing. Mrs. Remaklus was a retired registered nurse from Franciscan Medical Center in Dayton, and was a member of the Eaton Church of the Visitation.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Lee A. Remaklus; daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl L. and Paul Schaeffer, Mary L. and Tim Goubeaux, all of Eaton, Lisa L. and Martin Moore of Mesa, Ariz.; sons and daughters-in-law, Mark G. and Denise Remaklus of Eaton, James S. Remaklus of Zionsville, Ind., John A. and Suzanne Remaklus of Eaton; 14 grandchildren; and cousins.
Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, at Visitation Catholic Church, 407 E. Main St., Eaton, with the Rev. Thomas Fitzsimmons officiating. Burial will be in Preble Memory Gardens, West Alexandria. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, at Barnes Funeral Home-Eaton Chapel, 220 E. Main St., where a Rosary service will be conducted at 8 p.m.

Mary B. Buriff
Mary Bernice (Squires) Buriff, 69, of Mapleview Apartments, Eaton, died Sunday, Aug. 16, 1998, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Ind.
Born April 24, 1949, in Fort Wayne, Ind., she was the daughter of the late Emmett and Louella (O'Dell) Squires.
Survivors include a son, David Stegeman of Silver Springs, Fla.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Arita Cripe of Eaton; and brothers, Basil McBee of Phillipsburg and Allen McBee of Eaton.
There will be no funeral services. Barnes Funeral Home-Preble Memory Gardens Chapel, West Alexandria, is in charge of arrangements.
Eleanor Fieselmann
Eleanor Fieselmann, 84, of North Maple Street, Eaton, died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 1998, at Hospice of Dayton.
Born Feb. 22, 1914, in Eaton, she was the daughter of the late Otha E. and Nina E. (Garber) Hecathorn. She was a 1932 graduate of Eaton High School and a 1937 graduate of Earlham College with a B.A. degree, and was the 1937 May Queen at Earlham.
Mrs. Fieselmann had worked at Rike's in Dayton, was a social worker for Montgomery County Children's Services, from 1963 to 1978 she was employed as a social worker for Preble County Juvenile Court and Preble County Children's Services, had worked for SCOPE in Preble County and the United Way of Preble County. She was active in the Boy Scouts in Eaton, and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Eaton.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Benjamin W. Fieselmann; sons and daughters-in-law, Benjamin F. and Lynn Fieselmann of Bridgewater, N.J., Daniel A. and Vivian Fieselmann of Raleigh, N.C.; a daughter and son-in-law, Anne F. and Thomas Wehrly of College Station, Texas; six grandchildren, Heidi, Benjamin A., Krista, Rebecca, Sarah and Caroline; and a sister and brother-in-law, Ruth J. and Hubert Clark of Eaton.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Helyn I. Mikesell, in 1996.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 21, at the First Presbyterian Church, 123 W. Decatur St., Eaton, with the Rev. Wayne D. Morrison officiating. Burial was in Mound Hill Union Cemetery, Eaton. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, at Barnes Funeral Home-Eaton Chapel, 220 E. Main St., Eaton, and one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.

George M. Sizelove
George M. Sizelove, 81, of Baltimore, Md., died early Friday, Sept. 18, at Gilcrest Hospice in Towson, Md.
Born in Morning Sun, Ohio, he was the son of Harry and Estell (Faris) Sizelove. He was employed as a cook for various restaurants in Middleborough, Md., for 12 years, retiring in 1982.
In 1942, he married Dorothy Tincher in Baltimore, Md., and she preceded him in death in 1986.
Survivors include three sons, Ronald Sizelove and Michael Sizelove, both of Eaton, and Harry Sizelove of Shrewsburg, Pa.; one daughter, Vicki Rothman of Centerton, N.J.; two sisters, Helen White of Cincinnati and Jan Ingram of Lebanon; and five grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Robert.
Graveside services were Wednesday, Sept. 23, at Beechwood Cemetery, Morning Sun. There was no visitation. Brown-Dawson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Harriet I. Neville
Harriet I. Neville, 77, of Dayton, died Thursday, Sept. 24, at Grandview Hospital in Dayton.
Born June 21, 1921, in Montgomery County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas H. and Lulu Mamie (Sams) Belt. She worked for a total of 49 years in the accounts receivable departments of the Elder, Metropolitan and Donenfeld's department stores in Dayton. She was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Dayton for 20 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harrell G. Neville, in 1973; a daughter, Joan S. Bateman, in 1994; sisters, Dorothy E. Hoffman, in 1996, Mildred Canty, in 1953, and Marjorie A. Woolery, in 1997; and a brother, Eugene Thomas Belt, in 1981.
Survivors include a granddaughter, Louann Bateman of Dayton; a son-in-law, Sterling Bateman of New Lebanon; a sister, Betty McNamara of Lima; and grandson-in-law, Edward B. Andress of Dayton.
Funeral services were Saturday, Sept. 26, at Barnes Funeral Home-Preble Memory Gardens Chapel, West Alexandria, with Pastor John Hutchison officiating. Burial was in Preble Memory Gardens, West Alexandria.
Frances C. Cobb
Frances Childers Cobb, 79, of Lebanon, died Wednesday, Sept. 23, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Eaton after an extended illness.
She was born Sept. 5, 1919, in Oakdale, Ky., and graduated from Lemon-Monroe High School in 1938. She worked at Crystal Tissue Paper Mill and Aeronca Aircraft Corporation in Middletown, and graduated from Moler's School of Beauty in Cincinnati.
Mrs. Cobb was a lifelong member of Mt. Pleasant United Presbyterian Church of Monroe, was a member of the Franklin Farmers' Club, Greentree Farm Bureau Council and several area square dance clubs.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, James B. Cobb; two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Mike Raymond of Eaton, Sherry and Ralph Medford of Florence, S.C.; five grandchildren, Carrie Bordenkircher and husband John of Farmersville, Stephanie Hinds and husband Greg of Brookville, Tricia Raymond of Eaton, Laura and Paul Hitchcock of Florence, S.C.
Also surviving are two great-grandsons, Jordan Floyd of Florence, S.C., and Alec Bordenkircher of Farmersville; two sisters, Rose Spencer of Middletown, Inez McGill and husband George of Monroe; and one brother, Doc Childers and wife Dorothy of Middletown.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Margaret Childers; brothers, Fred, Bishop, Linvel, Carl and Troy Childers; and sisters, Hattie Childers, Georgia Jackson and Hazel Wright.
A memorial service was held Sunday, Sept. 27, at Mt. Pleasant United Presbyterian Church, Monroe.

Dorothy M. Swank
Dorothy M. Swank, 74, of 750 Chestnut St. and formerly of 5196 Hogpath Road, Greenville, died Wednesday morning, Sept. 23, at the Brethren Home Medical Center in Greenville.
Born April 13, 1924, in Lewisburg, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Alma (Black) Shade. She had formerly served as matron at St. Clair Springs Children's Home in Eaton. Mrs. Swank was a member of Pleasant View Missionary Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Swank Jr.; a grandson, Kevin Alexander; and brothers, Dale and Gerald Bortz.
Survivors include a son, the Rev. Thomas L. Swank of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; three daughters, Mary Alexander of Croswell, Mich., Marti Boyd of Mason and Miriam Wertz of Mishawaka, Ind.; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Gladys Smith of Medway.
Funeral services were Friday, Sept. 25, at Pleasant View Missionary Church, Gettysburg, with the Rev. Vic Reffey and the Rev. Richard Studebaker officiating. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery, Ft. Jefferson. Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, was in charge of arrangements.

Wendell M. Webb
Wendell Mings Webb, 58, of North Factory Road, West Alexandria, died unexpectedly Friday, Sept. 25, as the result of an automobile accident.
Born July 28, 1940, in Richmond, Ind., he was the son of Howard and Clova (Mings) Webb. He was a 1959 graduate of West Alexandria High School, was a self-employed plumber for 36 years, and owned W.M. Webb Plumbing. This year he was also employed by the West Alexandria Water Department.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, a member of Salem Lutheran Church and a 30-year member of James E. Ryan Post #322 American Legion in West Alexandria.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Shirley (Eby) Webb; a son, Alan Webb of West Alexandria; two daughters and son-in-law, Wendy and Josh Chesney, and Jill Webb, all of West Alexandria; and a sister, Suzanne Dorsey Cramer of Port Charlotte, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Sept. 29, at Salem Lutheran Church, West Alexandria, with the Rev. Daniel Snider officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, West Alexandria. Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home, West Alexandria, was in charge of arrangements.

Samuel J. Garner
Samuel J. Garner, SFC; E-7, retired U.S. Army, 68, of West Manchester, died Sunday, Sept. 27, at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Born Sept. 16, 1930, in Washington Township (Preble County), he was the son of the late Ulisses Ora and Anna May (Sheard) Garner. He served in the U.S. military for a total of 27 years, first with the Marine Corps and then 24 years in the Army, retiring in 1976. He was a member of the DAV and the VFW.
Survivors include his wife, Vera T. (Mills) Garner, whom he married Aug. 31, 1973; daughters and son-in-law, Marcella A. and Gary Hurley of Castine, and Sharon Zarnek; grandchildren, Gary Hurley II of Florence, Ky., Mary Goldy of Ithaca and Michelle Lainhart of Eaton; seven great-grandchildren; three brothers and two sisters and their families.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, at Barnes Funeral Home-Preble Memory Gardens Chapel, 3377 U.S. 35, West Alexandria. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, at the funeral home. Burial will follow Military Honors in Preble Memory Gardens, West Alexandria.
