Sarah E. Clifton
Sarah Evelyn "Eva" Clifton, 94, of 515 S. Maple St., Eaton, formerly of Richmond, Ind., died Sunday, Nov. 1, at Reid Hospital after a short illness.
Born Sept. 15, 1904, in Maryville, Tenn., she was the daughter of William and Mary (Gregory) Humphrey. She had lived in Richmond from 1936 until moving to Eaton five years ago.
Survivors include one daughter, Hazel Marie Rogers of Richmond, Ind.; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Raines Clifton, in 1968; three sons, Homer L., William "Junior" and Dallas Ray Clifton; three brothers; and three sisters.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Nov. 3, at Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Home, Richmond, Ind., with the Rev. Jeffrey Blair officiating. Burial was in Earlham Cemetery, Richmond, Ind.
Allen Marshall
Allen Marshall, 25, of Greenville, formerly of New Madison, died Saturday evening, Oct. 31, as a result of a car-pedestrian accident in the Bradford/Covington area on U.S. 36.
Born Nov. 28, 1972, in Greenville, he was the son of William and Julie Kay (Townsend) Dafler and Richard and Mary Marshall. He had lived in the Darke County area his entire life.
He was a 1991 graduate of Tri-Village High School, and was a laborer with Baxter Company of Eaton. He attended the New Madison United Methodist Church, and was a member of Loyal Order of the Moose No. 329 of Greenville.
In addition to his parents, who reside in New Madison, survivors include a stepbrother, David Wesley Dafler of West Lafayette, Ind.; three stepsisters, Gina Catherine Dafler of Eaton, Beth Ann Barton of Union City, Ohio, and Jacquelyn Lynn Simons of Greenville; paternal grandmother, Muriel Wolfe of Greenville; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Russell and Hazel Townsend; paternal grandfather, William Fred Marshall; and a stepsister, Michelle Marie Holmes.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, with the Rev. Jim Chronister officiating. The family will receive friends prior to services on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenmound Cemetery, New Madison. Storch-Braund Funeral Home, New Madison, is in charge of arrangements.

Otis Green Jr.
Otis "Red" Green, 74, of Saratoga, Calif., died Thursday, Oct. 1, at his home.
Born Jan. 6, 1924, in Preble County, he was the son of Otis L. and Elta (Deem) Green. He attened the Eaton schools and graduated from New Paris High School. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
Survivors include three children, Claudia, Christine and Steven Green; one sister, Margaruite Christensen of Florida; two half sisters, Pat Freel and Shirley Green; and two half brothers, Gary Green of Cedarville and Richard Green of California.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Betty Morgan; two brothers, Paul and Bobby Green; and three half brothers, Lester, Lowell and Bill Green.
A memorial service was held Saturday, Oct. 10, in San Jose, Calif.
Theresa G. Taylor
Theresa Gay Taylor, 40, of Middletown, died Sunday, Nov. 1, at University Hospital of Cincinnati.
She was born July 31, 1958, in Hamilton, and was educated in the Fairfield Schools. She attended the East Hamilton Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Ken J. Taylor; her father, Glenn Slusher of Trenton; two daughters, Danelle and Elizabeth Stephenson, both of Trenton; a granddaughter, Laura Stephenson of Trenton; a brother, Glendon Slusher of Fairfield; two sisters, Peggy McManus of Charlotte, N.C., and Annette Mayleben of Trenton; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Wilma Jean (Owens) Slusher, in 1995.
Funeral services will be at noon Thursday, Nov. 5, at Webb Noonan Funeral Home, Hamilton, with Pastor Keith E. Risner officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Butler County Memorial Park.
Elizabeth Smith
Elizabeth "Betty" (Fox) Smith, 78, of La Jolla, Cal., died Wednesday, Oct. 28, after an extended illness.
The widow of Colonel William K. Smith, U.S. Air Force, she is survived by one son, Arthur B. Lyon III, Albuquerque, N.M.; a brother, G. Craig Fox, Desert Palm, Cal.; a sister, Barbara Fox Brown, Eaton; and a grandaughter, Christina Parlapiano of Albuquerque, N.M.
Smith was born in Knoxville, Tenn., and moved to Orlando, Fla., as a small child. Following graduation from Orlando High School, Smith was a Chi Omega at the University of Tennessee, where she met and married Arthur B. Lyon, Jr.

William B. Houser
William B. "Pete" Houser, 77, of Eaton, died Monday, Nov. 9, at Vancrest Health Care Center.
Born Oct. 31, 1921, in Bristol, Va., he was the son of the late Robert E. and Goldie F. (Smithey) Houser. He retired in 1978 after 39 years with Local #224 Sheet Metal Workers, Dayton.
Mr. Houser was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and Purple Heart recipient, was a member of American Legion St. Clair Post #215 and VFW Post #8066 in Eaton, and a member of Eaton Baptist Temple.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Ruby (Barker) Houser; a son and daughter-in-law, Col. USMC (Ret.) Robert E. and Danielle Houser of LaGrange, Ky.; daughters and sons-in-law, Rita K. and Randy Peters of Safety Harbor, Fla., Donna and Ron A'Liucci of Pittsburgh, Pa.; nine grandchildren, Lori B., Amanda J., Robert B., Jennifer E. Houser, Alexandria M. Gardner, Tiffany M. and Cody M. Peters, Christopher F. and Anthony J. A'Liucci.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Cecil Shaffer; and a brother, Carl Houser.
Funeral services were Friday, Nov. 13, at Barnes Funeral Home-Preble Memory Gardens Chapel, West Alexandria, with the Rev. Lowell T. Spencer officiating. Burial, with military services by American Legion Post #215, was in Preble Memory Gardens, West Alexandria.

Robert E. Miller
Robert E. Miller, 67, of 2036 Washington-Jackson Road, Eaton, died Tuesday, Nov. 10, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton after an extended illness.
A native and lifelong resident of Preble County, he was born Nov. 19, 1930, the son of the late Herschel and Florence (Snyder) Miller. He was a retired job setter from Parker Hannifin Corp., Eaton. Mr. Miller was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, a member of VFW Post #8066 and American Legion Post #215, both of Eaton.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Marie (Farno) Miller; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Kenny Yates of Kettering; a grandson, Joe Miller and fiancee Malissa Rose; a granddaughter, Kimberly Yates; a sister, Norma Lemen of Eaton; two brothers, Clinton Taylor and Jack Woltja, both of West Alexandria; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry Woltja and Bernard Woltja; and a sister, Mary Judy.
Funeral services were Saturday, Nov. 14, at Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Funeral Home, Eaton, with the Rev. J. Thomas Fitzsimmons officiating. Burial, with military graveside services, was in Mound Hill Union Cemetery, Eaton.

Simeon E. Reeder
Simeon "Sim" E. Reeder, 88, formerly of Mill Street, Eldorado, died Wednesday, Nov. 11, at Governor Harris Homestead in Eaton.
Born July 6, 1910, in Shelby County, he was the son of the late Elza J. and Emma (Rice) Reeder. He retired as foreman after many years with the Penn Central Railroad.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary L. (Lunsford) Reeder, in 1985; two brothers; and one sister.
Survivors include a daughter, Loretta Garber of West Manchester; sons, Reynold Reeder of West Manchester and Tim Reeder of Lexington, Ky.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Saturday, Nov. 14, at Bussard-Barnes-Vaniman Funeral Home, Eldorado, with the Rev. David Ireton officiating. Burial was in Roselawn Cemetery, Lewisburg.
Fred H. Brown
Fred H. Brown, 65, of Springboro, died Friday, Nov. 13, at Kettering Medical Center, Kettering.
Born March 4, 1933, in Hamilton, he was the son of William and May Willa Martin (Glover) Brown. He was a 1951 graduate of Camden High School. Mr. Brown had worked as a bricklayer for Armco Steel for 35 years, retiring in 1991.
He was an operator at Conover Hall Bingo for the Society for Handicapped Citizens, a life member of VFW Post 3809 in Middletown, Russell McElfresh Post 149 American Legion Franklin Chapter, past president of Springboro Eagles Aerie #4014, a board member of the Society of Handicap Persons for over 30 years, a past board member of #169 Board of Warren County Retardation, and a member of the Moose Lodge of Miamisburg.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Mary (Payne) Brown; two sons, Robert F. Brown of Carlisle and Fred M. (Hope) Brown of Springboro; three daughters, Linda Miller of Lexington, Ky., Cindy (Eric) Mullins of Springboro and Brenda (Dave) Sonderman of Loveland; a brother, William Brown of Venice, Fla.; sisters, his twin, Yvonne Woods of Gratis and Joyce Moreland (Acie) of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert and George Butch Brown; and two sisters, Lillian and Jean.
Funeral services were Monday, Nov. 16, at Unglesby-Anderson Funeral Home, Franklin, with the Rev. Jack Lawson officiating. Burial, with full military honors, was in Fairmount Cemetery, Camden.

Arthur S. Stevens
Arthur S. Stevens, 77, of 1219 Ridge St., Richmond, Ind., died Saturday, Nov. 14, at his home after an extended illness.
Born April 20, 1921, in Cleveland, he was the son of Sherman and Clara (Kanuck) Stevens. He had lived in the Muncie, Ind., area prior to moving to Richmond. Mr. Stevens was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Richmond.
He was a life member of American Legion Post #65, VFW Post 1108 and DAV, all of Richmond. He was also a life member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and a member of the First Church of the Nazarene of Richmond.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Mae (Barnick) Stevens; four daughters, Linda Stevens of Indiana, Nickie Smith of Muncie, Ind., Beverly Jo Stevens of Colorado and Debra Kay Stevens of St. Petersburg, Fla.; stepdaughters, Ola Simpson of New Paris and Betty McCollum of Williamstown Lake, Ky.
Also surviving are nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Sherman Stevens of Muncie, Ind.; five sisters, Margaret G. Lindley of Fontana, Calif., Betty Meeks, Mildred Stevens and Ethel Wright, all of Muncie, Ind., and Wanda Davis of Corning, Calif.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Nov. 17, at Barnes Funeral Home-New Paris Chapel, followed by burial in Springlawn Cemetery, New Paris.
