Gustave W. Klingbeil, 84, of Bainbridge, died unexpectedly 11:08 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, in Ohio State University Hospitals, as a result of injuries sustained in an ATV accident.
ORVILLE D. LUNSFORD
Orville D. "Cherokee" Lunsford, 83, of Circleville, passed from this life Monday morning, Aug. 5, 2002 in Berger Hospital, Circleville following an extended illness. He was born Feb. 20, 1919 in Berea, KY, the son of Harrison Dean and Carrie Shine Jones Lunsford. On July 8, 1940 he married Regina Jane Bowman who preceded him in death in 1984.
Surviving are daughters, Janet (Charles) Page, Chillicothe, Barbara Eldridge, Columbus, Sharon (Burl) Bowling, Circleville, Arvella (Darrel) Ault, Frankfort and Nancy (James) VanHoose, Urbana, a son, Lonnie D. (Angela K.) Lunsford, Chillicothe, a daughter-in-law, Gail Lunsford, Columbus, 28 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, sisters, Mildred Wise, Faye Widholm and Wilma (Bill) Boyd, all of FL, Joyce (Eldon) Congrove, Chillicothe and Patti (Joe) Congrove, Hallsville, and a brother, William James (Verna) Lunsford, Nelsonville. His parents, sons Harrison "Dean" and Steven Orville Lunsford and a brother, Jack Lunsford preceded him in death.
Mr. Lunsford was a heavy equipment operator with Brewer and Brewer and Jack Frost, retiring in 1980. He was a member of the Redmen Lodge of S. Bloomingville. A devoted and loving father and grandfather, he will be missed by his children and grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday in the Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home with Pastor Roy Lowery officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.
PAMELA J. NAGLEY
Pamela J. Nagley, 40, of Chillicothe, passed from this life Sunday afternoon, Aug. 4, 2002 in Mt. Carmel Medical Center West, Columbus following a brief illness. She was born Apr. 20, 1962 in Chillicothe, the daughter of Ronald C. and Norma J. Grant Nagley.
Surviving is her mother, of Chillicothe, her paternal grandmother, Mildred Kase, Dayton, brothers, Thomas C. and Joseph G. Nagley, both of Chillicothe and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends. Her father, maternal grandparents and paternal step-grandfather preceded her in death.
Pam was baptized in the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She had been employed by First Capital Enterprises, Charley’s Flowers, McDonald’s and most recently at Wal-Mart.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday in Greenlawn Cemetery with Rev. Samuel Cummings officiating.
ORLAND R. HOUGH
Orland R. Hough, 84, of Chillicothe, passed from this life Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 13, 2002 in Heartland Of Chillicothe following a brief illness. He was born May 9, 1918 in Hallsville, the son of Orland N. and Bernice Good Hough. On Nov. 28, 1941 he married Norma Jean Hollis who preceded him in death Mar. 11, 1992.
Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law, David M. and Sharon K Hough and Richard F. and Susan L. Hough, all of Chillicothe and Russell P. and Wendy Hough, Columbus, 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and a brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Lois Hough, Grove City. His parents and brothers, John "Jack" and Robert Hough preceded him in death.
Mr. Hough was retired from the Federal Prison Industries and Sears. He was a WW II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps. His memberships included the Chillicothe Evening Lions Club, which he served as Secretary for many years, NARFE and American Legion Post 62.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday in the Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home with Rev. Carol Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens with graveside rites by the Ross County Veterans Firing Squad. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lions Club Sight Saving Fund or the Ross County Unit of the American Cancer Society.
Patricia Jean "Patsy" McClure
Patricia Jean "Patsy" McClure, 67 of Londonderry, died 5:40 PM, Saturday, August 17, 2002 in the Adena Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.
She was born February 2, 1935 in Columbus, Ohio, the daughter of Harry W. and Myrta (Curly) Thacker Dearth. On April 23, 1966 she married Kenneth E. McClure who preceded her in death December 10, 1992.
Surviving are one daughter Cynthia Jean McClure, Houston, TX; one son David Michael McClure, Londonderry; 3 grandchildren, Justin D. McClure, Londonderry, Seth M. McClure, Jackson, and Tiffany McClure, Londonderry; one sister Joyce E. Lewis, Houston, TX; three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Pete (Judy) McClure and Violet Molihan of McArthur, Sherry Zimmerman of Chillicothe; one sister-in-law and brother-in-law Eva and Junior Ankrom, McArthur; one brother and sister-in-law Jerry J. and Marian Oney, Londonderry; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Robert and Helen McClure, Londonderry and Delno and Mary McClure, McArthur; one brother-in-law and friend Walter Woods and Sandy, Circleville; a special family friend, Brad Cartee; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces , great nephews, and several special cousins. Two sisters Robbie Dearth and Nickey Woods preceded her in death.
Mrs. McClure had worked as a bookkeeper at Chilpaco, and last worked at the Londonderry Post Office. She was a member of the Londonderry United Methodist Church where she had been treasurer and pianist for many years.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, August 21, 2002 in the Londonderry United Methodist Church with Reverend Charles Ragland officiating. Burial will follow in Londonderry Cemetery.
Howard K. Strausbaugh
Howard K. Strausbaugh, 86 of Chillicothe, died 5:00 am, Sunday, August 18, 2002 following an extended illness.
He was born November 29, 1915 in Ross County, the son of the late John W. and the late Catherine Schrake Strausbaugh. In February 1937 he married Emma Lou Dennis who preceded him in death May 10, 1992. He married the former Helen McAfee in 1998.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law Roger and Carol Strausbaugh, Chillicothe; grandson and wife Patrick and Jannell Strausbaugh , Aurora, CO; granddaughter and husband Susan and Joel Jerva, Springboro, OH; two great-grandchildren , Emily and Alex Strausbaugh; two step-sons and wives Major Edward and Linda Young, Chillicothe; Robert L. and Lois Young, Columbus; grandchildren Micah Young, Carrie Debord, and Robert L. Young, Jr.; great grandchildren Kennedy Debord , Justin and Jackie Young; one brother and sister-in-law Donald and Loretta Strausbaugh, Kingston; one sister Lucille Dresbach, Circleville; several nieces and nephews; and a special family friend and caregiver, Caroline Merrow. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen Hines, Freda Elliott, and Mildred Cochran, and two brothers Herbert and Harold Strausbaugh.
In 1977 Mr. Strausbaugh retired from North American Aviation. He was a WW II veteran serving in the US Navy, in the Pacific Theatre aboard the USS Massachusetts. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Scioto Lodge F&AM, Antique Car Club and the Senior Citizens Center.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 am, Wednesday, August 21, 2002 in the Fawcett Oliver Glass & Palmer Funeral Home with Rev. David Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.
JAMES R. BETHEL
James R. Bethel, 93, of Chillicothe, passed from this life Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 20, 2002 in the Chillicothe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness. He was born Aug. 13, 1909 in Ross County, the son of Charles Fletcher and Ida Oakes Bethel. On Nov. 19, 1032 he married Nancy Trainor, who survives.
Also surviving are several nieces and nephews, including Ruth Rice, Carolyn Bethel, Marilyn Eitel, Thelma Park, John Park, Michael Park and Melvin Bethel, all of Chillicothe. His parents, 7 sisters and 2 brothers precede him in death.
Mr. Bethel was the manager of the Celler Lumber Company, retiring in 1973. He was a WW II veteran serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps. His memberships include the Friends Church of Londonderry and he was a Life Member of American Legion Post 757.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm Friday in Londonderry Cemetery with Rev. Joel Hess officiating. The Ross County Veterans Firing Squad will perform military rites. Memorial contributions may be made to the Londonderry Friends Church.
