Charlene E. Scott
Charlene E. "Dutch" Scott, 73, of Londonderry, passed from this life early Sunday morning, Sept. 8, 2002, in the Chillicothe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, following an extended illness.
She was born Mar. 6, 1929, in Ross County, the daughter of Charles E. and Bessie B. Faulds Smart. On July 4, 1952, she married Fred W. Baldwin, who preceded her in death Nov. 13, 1967. On July 30, 1971, she married Ray E. Scott, who preceded her in death Mar. 30, 1986.
Surviving are a daughter, Sharon S. Baldwin, Londonderry; a sister and brother-in-law, Elva and R.C. Davis, Chillicothe; sisters-in-law, Alberta Smart and Marilyn Wagner, both of Chillicothe and Bernice McWhorter and Isabelle Scott, both of Londonderry; a brother-in-law, John Sheets, Chillicothe; and a host of nieces and nephews, including James Ditto and Beverly, Denver, Colo., Raymond "Buzz" and Donna McWhorter and Richard and Mary McWhorter, all of Londonderry. Her parents, two sisters and two brothers precede her in death.
Mrs. Scott was a retired employee of the U.S. Shoe Corporation. She was a member of the Liberty Township Fire and Rescue Auxiliary, a volunteer for the RIVLO Neighborhood Watch and a former member of the Allegro Motor Home Club.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home, with Rev. David Titler officiating. Burial will follow in Londonderry Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday.

M. Ann Hickel
Margaret Ann Hickel, 70, of Chillicothe, died 9:45 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, 2002, in her home, following an extended illness.
She was born July 31, 1932, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Dougal P. and Margaret J. Davis Pickens. On July 3, 1954, she married William M. Hickel III, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Debra (Paul) Robinett, of Bainbridge, Tammy (Greg) Kight, of Waverly; a son, William (Deanna) Hickel, of Chillicothe; seven grandchildren, Daniel Robinett, Danielle Penrod, William Richardson, Carey Richardson, April Ward, Bryan Bost, Dwight Hickel; five great-grandchildren; special friends, Patty McInturf, June Anderson, Virginia Baird, Larry and Ann Steinbrook and Shirley Gleich.
Mrs. Hickel retired from the Pioneer School in 1992, where she had worked in the office and the cafeteria.
Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday in the Haller Funeral Home, with Troy Villars officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Haller's.

Shirley A. Griffie
Shirley A. Griffie, 71, of Chillicothe, died 9:18 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, 2002, at her residence, following an extended illness.
She was born Aug. 30, 1931, in Highland County, to the late Sterling and Letha Osborn Wallingford. She was married Oct. 12, 1957, to Russell W. Griffie, who died Jan. 20, 1987.
Surviving are 11 children, Paul (Carolyn) Dickerson, Mary (George) Branscom, Vickie (Jack) Cottrill, Wilbur (Chess) Griffie, Eddie (Diane) Griffie, Tina (Burl) Abbott, Joyce Bland, Patty Eblin, Phillip (Cookie) Griffie, Sandy (Keith) Huffman and Gerrie (Leonard) Ward, all of Chillicothe; 42 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and brothers, Paul (Macy) Wallingford and Jimmy (Sally) Wallingford, of Chillicothe. She was predeceased by a daughter, Wanda Casper; and brothers, Howard Wallingford and Junior Stanhope and his wife Rose.
Mrs. Griffie was a member of Schooleys Chapel.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Ware Funeral Home, with Rev. Willis Tackett and Rev. Charles Pritchard officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call at Ware's from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday (today).

Forrest C. Bellomy Sr., 70, of East Second Street, Piketon, died Sunday at his home.
Carolyn R. Barnes
Carolyn R. Barnes, 51, of Chillicothe, died 3:33 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2002, at her residence, following an extended illness.
She was born Feb. 10, 1951, in Jessamine County, Ky., to the late Sigle and Alice West Lowry.
Surviving are a daughter, Wendi K. Barnes; sister, Linda S. Dennewitz; and brother, Andy (Opal) Lowery, all of Chillicothe; nieces, Bridgett (Todd) Wiegand, Tammy (Brian) Chandler, Tonya (Tracy) Howard and Alice Lowery; nephews, Anthony Lowery, Sigle (Cindy) Lowery, John Lowery, Michael Lowery and David (Shannon) Dennewitz; five grandnieces and nephews; a special friend, William Morton; and several aunts and uncles. She was predeceased by brothers, Lewis and John Lowery.
Carolyn had been employed at Sack 'n' Save.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Friday in the Ware Funeral Home, with Rev. Joe Walters officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Tabor Cemetery. Friends may call at Ware's from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

Robert Beverly, 66, of Chillicothe, died Tuesday at Adena Regional Medical Center.

Shirley Anne Clay
Shirley Anne Clay, 66, of Northview Drive, London, Ohio, passed away at 10:22 a.m. on September 9, 2002, at Madison County Hospital, London, Ohio. She had been suffering from a four-month battle with colon cancer.
She was born Shirley Anne French on November 9, 1935, at Davisville in Jackson County to the late Charles and Rhoda (Malone) French. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
She was a graduate of Coalton High School in Coalton, Ohio and was retired from the Kroger Company. She also was a faithful member of Mary Chapel United Baptist Church in Waverly, Ohio since April 1982.
On December 14, 1953, she married Floyd Clay, who survives. Other survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Rodney Murray of London, Ohio; two granddaughters, Hayley and Kayley Murray, also of London, Ohio; a son, Ronald of Columbus; a sister, Mabel Vanhise of Columbus, Ohio.
Friends may call at the Mayhew Funeral Home in Jackson, Ohio on Thursday, September 12, 2002, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be Friday, September 13, 2002, at Mary Chapel United Baptist Church, 2301 Denver Road, Waverly, Ohio at 10 a.m., with Elders John Daniels, Arvil Murray, Jr. and Jim Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens, Massieville, Ohio.
Elva Jane Davis
Elva Jane Davis, 82, of Chillicothe, died 5:19 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, 2002, in the Kingston Health Care Center, following an extended illness.
She was born Feb. 29, 1920, in Washington Court House, to the late Elvy and Bessie Faulds Smart. She was married Feb. 20, 1943, to R.C. Davis, who survives, along with sons, Charles D. Davis, of Washington Court House and Richard Michael "Mike" Davis, of Lodi, Calif.; and daughter and son-in-law, Deborah Jayne and Allen Steeber, of Glen Allen, Va.; five grandchildren; and a great-grandson. She was predeceased by sisters, Juanita Zanka, Ruby Sheets and Charlene Scott; and brothers, William E. and Richard C. Smart.
Mrs. Davis was a member of the Brookside Church of Christ in Christian Union and retired June 1, 1983, as an elementary office secretary of Unioto School for 23 years.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday in the Ware Funeral Home, with Rev. David Dean and Rev. Jack Norman officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call at Ware's from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
