Helen R. Moomaw, 86, formerly of Greenfield, died Monday.
Frederick W. Oiler
Frederick William "Bill" Oiler, 64, of Chillicothe, passed from this life Sunday, Oct. 13, 2002 in the Ohio State University Medical Center following an extended illness.
He was born Jan. 3, 1938 in Wellston, OH, the son of Everett S. and Mabel Sprague Oiler. On Oct. 22, 1961 he married Beverly D. Graham who survives.
Also surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Terri and Bart Barton and Trisha and Doug Detty, all of Chillicothe, a son, Doug Oiler and Hollie Trutschel, Loveland, OH, grandchildren, Wm Bradley Counts and Kara Jo Detty, stepsisters, Peg McManus, Hamden, OH and Patsy Garrett, Pt. Clinton, OH, and a stepbrother and step-sister-in-law, David and Margie Sprague, Wellston, OH. His parents, a son, Eric Shane Oiler, in-laws, Kathryn and Clarence Graham and several other family members preceded him in death.
Mr. Oiler was a former employee of CCI, and had retired from Wear-Ever and YSK Corp. He was a crossing guard for the Chillicothe City Schools and was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church and the AMVETS Post 4. He was a veteran of the US Navy and will be remembered for his service as a coach in the Scioto Valley Youth League for the Rangers baseball team and the Broncos football team.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home with Rev. Wendell Combs officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgewood Cemetery, Wellston with military honors by the American Legion. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday.

Barbara Sue (Simon) Potzick, 67, formerly of Chillicothe, died Monday, Sept. 23, 2002.

Lavetta M. Border
Lavetta M. Border, 81, of Chillicothe, died 5:15 p.m. Monday October 14, 2002, at her residence unexpectedly.
She was born February 16, 1921, in Ross County, to the late Finley F. and Cornelia Wood Morton. On February 17, 1940, she married Robert M. Border, who died June 19, 1987.
Lavetta was the beloved mother of her children; daughter Lavetta L. Anderson of Dayton, daughter and son-in-law Barbara A. and William Spaller of Chillicothe and the beloved grandmother of her grandchildren, Lee and Les Anderson, Stacie Queen and William (Barbra) Spaller, Jr., 11 great grandchildren, brothers and sisters-in-law Finley and Pauline Morton of Miamisburg, OH, Ralph and Charlotte Morton of Chillicothe and Marvin and Tiny Morton of Charlotte, NC, sister Donna Russell of Chillicothe, sister and brother-in-law Helen and Ralph Thompson of Arizona and several nieces and nephews. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Mrs. Border was a member of the Memorial Presbyterian Church in Dayton, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday October 17, 2002 in the Ware Funeral Home with Rev. David Dean officiating. Burial will follow in the Little Mound Cemetery, Richmond Dale. Friends may call at Ware's one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to a charity of one's choice.
Sylvan Campbell Jr.
The "Celebration of Life" Memorial Service of Sylvan Campbell Jr., will be held Oct. 20, 2002, at 12:30 p.m.
The service will be in the Mansion shelter at Highbanks Metro Park (Take 270 to 23 N. Park is on the left on U.S. 23.) with a covered dish dinner to follow. Everyone who knew Sylvan is welcomed.

Ruby A Crapsey, 95, formerly of 300 Lightle Road., Waverly died Monday at Piketon Nursing Center.
A Memorial Service will be held at Huntington Chapel Christian Union Church, on Windy Ridge Rd., Chillicothe at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, October 20, 2002.
Earl W. Allison, Jr.
Earl W. Allison, Jr., 62, of Massieville, died Tuesday morning October 15, 2002 as a result of a truck accident in Columbus.
He was born June 3, 1940, in Ross County, to Earl W. Allison Sr. and Juanita Oliver Bucy, both of Massieville. On April 19, 1986, he married Dessie Howe Goodman who died August 5, 2002.
In addition to his parents, also surviving are his special friend Ann Parker of Chillicothe, sons Harold L. (Cindy) Allison of Richmond Dale, Earl W. Allison III of Hamilton, OH, Jack (Kathryn) Allison of Trenton, OH, three grandchildren, four great grandchildren, step children Maynard A. (Carol) Goodman of Chillicothe, Mark R. Goodman of Chillicothe, Brent K. (Nancy) Goodman of Glen Allen, KY, Scott K. (Sandy) Goodman of Chillicothe, sister Lois (Delbert) Bennett of Massieville and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by son Charles H. Allison.
Earl was a truck driver for Pepsi and was a member of Eagles Aerie 600 and Moose Lodge 1626.
Graveside services will be held 3 p.m. Friday October 18, 2002 in the Floral Hills Memory Gardens with Rev. Doug Campbell officiating. There will be no calling hours. Arrangement are under the direction of the Ware Funeral Home.
Charles Beatty, Jr.
Charles Beatty, Jr., 74, of Greenfield, died Tuesday at Greenfield Area Medical Center.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Anderson-Strueve Funeral Home, Greenfield. Burial will follow in Greenfield Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. today.
James Edward Buck
James Edward Buck, 76, of Greenfield, died Tuesday at Greenfield Area Medical Center.
The funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Anderson-Strueve Funeral Home, Greenfield. Burial will follow in Greenfield Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the Concerned Veterans of Greenfield. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, where an Eagles Lodge service will be held at 7:30 p.m. and a Veterans Appreciation service at 8 p.m.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Greenfield First United Methodist Church Tractor Fund.
Lewis O. Butler, Jr.
Lewis O. Butler, Jr., 60, of Three Locks Road, went home to be with the Lord, 3:07 a.m. Wednesday October 16, 2002, in the Adena Regional Medical Center, following an extended illness.
He was born December 13, 1941, in Ross County to the late Lewis O. Sr. and Ocie L. Sanford Butler. On November 22, 1962, he married the former Helen Fraley who survives.
Also surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Sharon Kay and Mark Johnson of Marion, Ohio, son and daughter-in-law, Edward L. and Beth Butler of Chillicothe, six grandchildren, Sara, Andrew, Melissa, Mila, Amy, and Joshua, sisters, Norma Wolford and Betty Butler both of Chillicothe, several nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Mr. Butler was predeceased by a sister Sharon Kay Butler.
Lewis was manager of the Swifty Service Station on Bridge St., retiring after 25 years. He was a member of the Stoney Creek Church of Christ in Christian Union, where he served as second Elder.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday October 18, 2002, in the Ware Funeral Home, with Rev. Christopher Hiles officiating. Burial will follow in Little Mound Cemetery. Friends may call at Wares from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday (today).

Odell C. Hedrick, 72, of Chillicothe, passed from this life unexpectedly on Sunday, October 13, 2002, in the Aultman Hospital, Canton, Ohio.
