Anna Marie Hixon
Anna Marie Hixon, 89, of Chillicothe, died 10:50 a.m. Saturday, September 27, 2003, in the Adena Regional Medical Center, following a brief illness.
She was born April 6, 1914, in Chillicothe, to the late Thomas and Mary Thompson Kenz. On November 15, 1936, she married John E. Hixon, who survives.
Also surviving are sons, James T. Hixon, of Chillicothe, and Ronald J. (Judith) Hixon, of Pickerington, OH; grandchildren, Theresa Hixon, Lori Ann Reynolds and John Gregory Hixon; great-granddaughters, Ashley Hixon and Anna Marie Reynolds; a sister, Rosaline Huston, of Lancaster, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Avonelle Kenz, of Chillicothe, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by brothers, David and Leo Kenz.
Mrs. Hixon was a member of the Circle of Mary and the Bereavement Committee at St. Peter Church, the Pump House Gallery for the Arts and the Ross County Historical Society.
She was a lifetime member of St. Peter Catholic Church, where Mass of Christian burial will be offered 11 a.m. Thursday, October 2, 2003, with Fr. James Black, Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Margaret Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday (today), at the Ware Funeral Home, where a wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society, 126 Church St., Chillicothe, OH 45601.
Virginia A. Jester
Virginia A. Jester, 67, of Washington CH, passed away on Monday at Court House Manor Nursing Home.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, 2003, at Summers Funeral Home, with burial to follow in the Washington Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Louis R. Martin, 72, of Ray, died Tuesday, at Adena Regional Medical Center.
Raleigh Spradlin
Raleigh Spradlin, age 80, of Circleville, died Monday, September 29, 2003, at Logan Elm Healthcare Center. He was born February 23, 1923, in Ports-mouth, son of the late Willie T. and Dora (Music) Spradlin. He was the former owner of Raleigh Spradlin Gravel Company.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Helen L. (Seymour) Spradlin; one son, James Edward Spradlin; brother, Burlie Spradlin; sisters, Alma Suhre, Daisy Robinson, Eva Speicher and Ruth Wilson. He is survived by his children, Sharon (Bob) Robertson, of El Paso, Texas, Daniel (A.J.) Spradlin, of Newark, and Joy (Sam) Miller, of Chillicothe; 12 grandchildren; six step grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 10 stepgreat-grandchildren; brother, Clarence (Ernestine) Spradlin, of Johnstown; sisters Rosa (Ralph) Conley, of Circleville, and Flora Murphy, of South Bloomfield; special pet dog, "Cocoa."
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, October 3, 2003, in the chapel of the Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger Funeral Home, 151 E. Main St., Circleville, with the Rev. John DeMint and Rev. John Cooper officiating. Interment to follow at Jackson Township Ceme-tery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Gregory S. Stepp
Gregory S. Stepp, 41, of Chillicothe, died unexpectedly 5:55 p.m. September 29, 2003, in the Grandview Hospital, Dayton, as a result of a brain aneurism.
David N. Castle
David N. Castle, 71, of Londonderry, died 1:47 a.m. February 3, 2004, in the University of Cincinnati Hospital, following a brief illness.
He was born February 20, 1932, in Carter Co., KY, to Hobert and Martha Barker Castle. On July 2, 1955, he married Peg Castle, who died July 26, 1997.
Survivors include a daughter, Brenda (James) Madru, Chillicothe; two sons, Randy (Lisa) Castle and Tracy (Shawna) Castle, all of Londonderry; five grandchildren, Matt, Holly, Amanda, Chris and Jordan; a great-grandchild, Alyssa; two sisters, Loretta Sheets, and Emma "Sissy" (Clyde) Fuller, both of Chillicothe; two brothers, Emory (Phyllis) Castle, of Columbus, and Williard (Elvyria) Castle, of Ray. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Mr. Castle was an Army Korean Conflict veteran. He was an avid Southeastern Panther supporter and member of the Southeastern Booster Club. He retired as a pipe fitter from Mead Paper in May of 1994.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, at Haller Funeral Home, with Pastor Woodrow Wilson officiating. Military graveside services, conducted by the Ross County Veterans Firing Squad, will follow in Londonderry Cemetery. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at Haller's.

Helen M. Dunn, 86, of Kingston, died 4:40 p.m. Monday, February 2, 2004, in Berger Hospital, Circleville, following an extended illness.
Dolores R. Fyffe
Dolores R. Fyffe, 73, of Chillicothe, died 1:40 p.m. Monday, February 2, 2004, at her residence, following an extended illness.
She was born November 6, 1930, in Pike County, to the late Dorel M. and Edna M. Cook Whaley. On December 15, 1947, she married William C. Fyffe, who survives.
Also surviving are sons, Dennis William Sr. (Deborah) Fyffe and Douglas Clarence Sr. (Gay) Fyffe, both of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Dennis Jr. (Amy) Fyffe, Douglas Jr. (Jane) Fyffe, Christopher Fyffe and Zachary Fyffe and his fiancée, Jamie; great-grandchildren, Cole Ryan Fyffe and Jeffery Nicholson; a sister, Janet (Ronald) Cole, of Portsmouth; an aunt, Ruth Gilmartin, of Chillicothe; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Paul Whaley, Harwood Whaley and Dorel Whaley, Jr.
Dolores was a member of Omega United Methodist Church. She was the owner of Modernistic Beauty Salon and was an employee of Wellston City Schools. Mrs. Fyffe was a past president of the American Legion Post 371 Auxiliary in Wellston.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 6, 2004, at Ware Funeral Home, with her nephew, Rev. Jared McKinney, officiating. Burial will follow in Omega Cemetery. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ware's.
Alice Herman
Alice Herman, age 89, of Frankfort, died Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, at her daughter's home, near Frankfort. She was born on April 30, 1914, near Frankfort, the daughter of the late Frank and Hannah Beatty Kendall. On May 7, 1938, she married Stephen V. Herman, who preceded her in death on Aug. 16, 1981.
She is survived by three daughters, Betty (Robert) Vollmar, of Chillicothe, Brenda (John) Dreitzler, of Frankfort, and Barbara (Nicholas) Cleary, of Clarksburg. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Toni Bradford, Gordon Vollmar, Wendy Case, Michael Dreitzler, Angela Proehl, Dan Dreitzler, Lora Cleary, Victor Cleary; 15 great-grandchildren and one on the way. She was preceded in death by a sister, Lena Mae Snyder and two brothers, Robert N. Kendall and John Rueben Kendall.
Alice had worked at the candy counter at Kresgee's Store and retired from the K-mart in Chillicothe. She was a 1933 graduate of Frankfort High School. Alice was a faithful member of Lattaville United Methodist Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher as well as Sunday School Superintendent. She was also active in the United Methodist Women. Alice was a very loving person and was held in high esteem by her family and her many friends. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services will be Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, at 1 p.m. in Ebright Funeral Home, Frankfort, with Bob Rose officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Dale N. 'Minnie' McCoy
Dale N. "Minnie" McCoy, 69, of Sugar Run Rd., Jasper, Ohio, died 9:05 a.m. Thursday, January 29, 2004, at Grant Medical Center, Columbus, Ohio. He was born on April 7, 1934, in Waverly, Ohio, to the late Merrill J. and Margaret Kuhn McCoy.
He was a graduate of Waverly High School Class of 1953, a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving 14 years as a Sea Bee, in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. As a Navy Sea Bee, he was a Demolition Technician, a heavy equipment operator, mechanic, Instructor, and a Deep Sea Diver, with the MCB 3 & 9 and the MCBU 105. He spent most of his service time in the Philipines, Korea, Okinawa, Kwajalein and Vietnam. During his time as a Sea Bee, he was called "Gar" by all of the men in his unit and fellow workers. In civilian life he worked as a mechanic on John Deer tractors and other farm machinery, both in Waverly and Chillicothe.
He is survived by two brothers, John G. (Alice) McCoy, of Hawthorne, CA, Robert M. (Juanita) McCoy, of Waverly; two sisters, Muriel J. Hall, of Waverly, and Mary Jane Rusterholz, of Brookville, IN. He was the beloved uncle of nieces and nephews, Tom and Susie Hall, Bonnie and Merrill McCoy, Katy, Robbie and Debbie McCoy, Mandy and Rex Rusterholz; great nieces and nephews, Guyanna, Melissa, Mitch, Tommy, John and Jennifer Hall, Jackie Sue, Emily and Abigail Birkhimer, Copeland Rusterholz, Brandon Euen, Michael and McCala McCoy, Cassandra Helton, Samantha and Amber Jacobs, April and Allen Weisinger, Kaylee and Mason Goode, Jordan Hall, Zariah and Madyson Bunch.
He was preceded in death by his parents; special brother-in-law, Everett T. Hall; a niece, Susie Birkhimer; nephews, Tom Hall and Rex Rusterholz; adopted niece, Sherry Beekman and grand-nephew, Zack Vanhoose and grand-niece, Chasity Woods.
Dale touched many lives during his life and will be sadly missed by family and friends, but would have wanted everyone to remember the good times and never have a sad moment. He loved everyone and bids you all farewell until we meet again.
Dales wishes were to be an organ and tissue donor if possible and cremate the remains and have the remains scattered over his beloved "Ranch" as he called it. His ashes will be scattered at a later date as weather permits and a Head Stone erected at the "Ranch" near Piketon, OH.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, February 14, 2004, at Botkin Funeral Home, in Waverly, with military services to follow.
