Prater Montgomery
Prater Montgomery, 86, of Jackson, formerly of Chillicothe, went home to be with his Lord 9:45 a.m. Monday October 28, 2002, in the Jenkins Memorial Rest Home, Wellston, following an extended illness.
He was born June 15, 1916, in Magoffin Co. Kentucky, to the late William and Armenta "Mintie" Howard Montgomery. On May 19, 1992, he married his dear wife, the former Mary Blanton Ballenger who survives.
Also surviving are daughters Nola Murray, Lola Fritzpatrick, Beverly Lynn (William) Diggs, all of Chillicothe, Patricia Sue (Bernard) Powell of Washington C.H., Priscilla Lou (Clyde) Powell of Jackson, and Pamela Kay (Steve) Foster of Kingston; a son Larry (June) Montgomery of Chillicothe; 22 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; a sister Tealie Tackett of Chillicothe; many nieces and nephews; step-children, Diann (Richard) Coppock of Zelienople, Pa., Mark (Audrey) Ballenger of Jackson, Timothy (Melinda) Ballenger of Wellston; 6 step-grandchildren and 6 step-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 50 years, the former Ordna E. Pelphrey; a grandson, Lawrence Franklin Murray, Jr. and several brothers and sisters.
Mr. Montgomery was a member of the Stoney Creek Church of Christ in Christian Union where he had taught Sunday School for many years and served 31 years as an elder. He was a retired employee of the Chillicothe Division of the State Highway Department of Transportation.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 31, 2002, in the Ware Funeral Home with Pastor Rodney P. Kuhn and Reverend Donald Sparks officiating. Burial will follow in Caldwell Cemetery. Friends may call at Ware's from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.
David A. Powell
David DeAaron Allen Powell, Jr., age 4, of Reynoldsburg, was a very special Angel who was called upon by our Lord at approximately 2:40 p.m., Friday, October 25, 2002, as a result of an accident.
He was born June 7, 1998 to the very proud parents, David Allen Powell and Amy Ranae James Powell at Doctors West Hospital. Little David was also known as "Fatman" and "Little Man." In addition to his parents, survivors include his sister, DeAsia Quierra Powell, age 2, brother Grant Fussnecker, age 5, and a sister Porsche Whitt, age 11; grandparents, Cheryl James Johnson, Mary F. Wright, and step grandfather, Richard Boydston, grandfather, Jacob Albert Powell, great grandparents, Darrell and Ruth Johnson and Bud and Lois James, one special uncle, Codey Hatfield, Paul Wright, Paulean Wright, Debbie Wright, Ruby Jean Courtright, and several cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great aunts and many special friends of the family.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Haller Funeral Home, with Rev. Obadiah Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call 11-1 p.m. Tuesday at the Haller Funeral Home.
Clara Ellen Townsend
Clara Ellen Townsend, 83, of Columbus, formerly of Chillicothe, died Monday morning in Mt. Carmel East, Columbus.

Loretta Wilhelm
Loretta Wilhelm, 78, of Waverly, died 2:00 a.m. Sunday, October 27, 2002, at her residence.
She was born February 22, 1924, in Stockdale, Ohio, to Noah and Virgie (Williams) Sagraves. On September 10, 1946, she married Rodman David Wilhelm, who survives.
She is also survived by a son; Michael David Wilhelm, at home, and one brother; Glenn (Valerie) Sagraves, of Rough and Ready, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother; Ledgie Proctor Sagraves, two sisters; Lenora Pauline Sagraves and Elalore Mouger.
Mrs. Wilhelm was a retired secretary at Peter Keiwit Construction Company. She was also a member of the Methodist Faith.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 30, 2002, at Boyer Funeral Home with Rev. Neil Park officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens, Massieville, Ohio. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, and from 9:00 a.m. Wednesday.
Robert L. Earls, Jr.
Robert L. Earls, Jr., of Chillicothe, died unexpectedly at 10:45 a.m. October 30, 2002, in the Jewish Hospital, Cincinnati, OH.
He was born March 15, 1947, in Fayetteville, AR, to the late Robert L., Sr., and Virginia Brewer Earls. On October 7, 1997, he married the former Donna S. Shaw, who survives.
Also surviving are his daughters, Shannon M. Earls, Rebecca L. Earls, Ft. Smith, AR; sons, Matthew P. and George H. Earls, both of Las Vegas, NV; a grandson, Nathan Earls; stepdaughter, April (Joe) Addy, stepson, Brett Jackson, all of Chillicothe; stepgrandsons, Daniel, Cole, Robert, and Erik Addy; sisters, Janice (Hoyt) Henson, Winslow, AR; and Patricia (Michael) Cooper, Farmington, AR. He was predeceased by his parents and grandparents.
Mr. Earls was an electrical motor winder for Wheatley Electric, Norwood, OH. He enjoyed billiards and playing cards.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Haller Funeral Home.
Robert L. Collins Sr.
Robert L. Collins, Sr., 71, died at Thursday, at the Greenfield Area Medical Center.
James Jackson
James Jackson, 97, of State Route 335, Beaver, died Wednesday, in Heartland of Jackson.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Zion Baptist Church, State Route 335, Beaver. Burial will follow in Jackson Family Cemetery. Friends may call at the Zion Baptist Church at 12 p.m. Sunday, until the time of the funeral service.
Paul Edward Kneisley
Paul Edward Kneisley, 75, of State Route 124, Latham, died Thursday, at his residence.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Beavers Chapel Church of Christ in Christian Union. Burial will follow in the White Oak Cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Botkin Funeral Home, Waverly, and from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Mary Katherine McJunkin, 94, of Latham, died Thursday at the Pike Community Hospital.

Royal Ray Jr.
Royal Ray Jr., 59, died Wednesday, October 30, 2002, of lung cancer.
He is survived by his wife, Denise F. Ray. Also surviving are his children, Ray III, Tonia, Lucretia, Miya, Randall, Leah, Branden, and Brittany; his mother, Dorothy Williams; three sisters; Alberta, Lucille, and Victoria; fourteen grandchildren; and many friends.
"They that wait upon the Lord, he shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be wary; and walk and grow faint." Isiah 40:32.
Royal will be missed and loved throughout the remaining days of this lifetime.
William E. Rice
William E. "Bill" Rice, 62, of Chillicothe, died at 4:03 p.m. October 30, 2002, in Heartland Nursing Home, following an extended illness.
Richard R. Villarreal, M.D.
Richard R. Villarreal, M.D., 72, of Wheelersburg, died Wednesday, October 30, 2002, at his home.
Born in Harlingen, Texas, he came to Ohio after graduating from medical school. He completed psychiatric residency at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. It was there that he met his wife, Hope Brunicardi Villarreal. After completing residency, they moved to Portsmouth, Ohio, where Richard took on the role of the medical director at Portsmouth Receiving Hospital. During his forty years in Portsmouth, he has served as medical director of Shawnee Mental Health Center, chief-of-staff of Scioto Memorial, and was responsible for bringing psychiatric health to southern Ohio. He also served the medical community by holding positions in the county medical society and counselor of the Ohio State Medical Association.
He has served the community as an active member of the Rotary Club, Lions Club and the Order of the Masons. He has been a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and was most recently an active member of Holy Redeemer Church in Portsmouth, where he played the organ.
He is survived by his wife, Hope and four children, Richard J. Villarreal, M.D., Anna Villarreal Jenkins D.C., Elizabeth Villarreal Thomas, and Victoria C. Villarreal. Other survivors include, his daughter-in-law, two sons-in-law, and seven grandchildren. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all.
Visiting hours will be at Daehler Mortuary in Portsmouth, Saturday, November 2, 2002, from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, November 3, 2002, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Rosary service will be at 8:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be Monday morning November 4, 2002, at Holy Redeemer Church 10:00 a.m. Internment at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Columbus, Ohio, will be following the mass.
