Reba Mae Penwell
Reba Mae Penwell, 92, of Greenfield, died 10:32 a.m. Wednesday, November 20, 2002, at Edgewood Manor, Greenfield.
She was born March 6, 1910, in Bainbridge, to David and Mina (Shoemaker) Grogg. On October 6, 1945, she married Clyde W. "Red" Penwell, who preceded her in death on December 23, 2001.
Surviving are three daughters, Marlene (Gene) Gillespie, Betty Jackman, and Reba "Susie" (Kenneth) Clay, all of Greenfield; three sons, Floyd (Elizabeth ) Bartley, Donald Bartley, both of Greenfield, and Lee (Kay) Bartley, of New Vienna, OH; one sister, Elsie Smith, of Sabina, OH; 21 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Darrell Penwell; a sister, Eva McMullen; and a brother, Stanley Grogg.
Mrs. Penwell was a member of Red Bud United Brethren Chapel.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 23, 2002, at Anderson-Strueve Funeral Home, Greenfield, with Rev. Dennis Beaver officiating. Burial will follow in Bainbridge Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday.

Eliza Rhodes
Eliza Rhodes, 95, of Wellston, died Tuesday, at Adena Regional Medical Center.
Friends may call at the Mayhew Funeral Home Friday, November 22, from noon until the time of the service at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in the Fairmount Cemetery.

Roberta M. (Kohn) Richter
Roberta M. "Ruby" (Kohn) Richter, 84, of Chillicothe, passed from this life Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 19, 2002, in Heartland of Chillicothe, following an extended illness.
She was born Sept. 28, 1918, in Rendville, OH, the daughter of John and Latish Mongold Chandler. In 1933, she married Elijah Kohn, who preceded her in death in 1971. She later married Edward Richter, who preceded her in death in 1977.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary Ackley, Kingston; a daughter and son-in-law, Viola "Jean" Graves-Damron and William Mayo Damron, Chillicothe; a son and daughter-in-law, Clyde and Jayne Kohn, Circleville; grandchildren, Gregg Graves, Brian Graves, Cindy Hamer, Teresa Welsh, Chris Seymour, Anita Kohn and Tonita Jones; 13 great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Her parents, four sisters and three brothers preceded her in death.
Mrs. Richter was a retired employee of U.S. Shoe. She was a member of Hilltop Mission Church and Royal Star. She was a loving mother and grandmother, who will be sadly missed.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, in the Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home with Rev. Douglas Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday (today). Memorial contributions may be made to the Hilltop Mission Church.

Georgia B. Valentine
Georgia B. Valentine, 78, of Chillicothe, died Wednesday, in Heartland of Chillicothe, following an extended illness.

Welty Harold Zimmerman
Welty Harold Zimmerman, 92, of Memorial Drive, Springfield, OH, died 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, November 19, 2002, at Mercy Medical Center, Springfield, OH.
He was born on July 7, 1910 in Piketon, OH, to the late Thomas O. and Christina Maggie (Brigner) Zimmerman. On December 29, 1929, he married Florence Hazel (Detty) Zimmerman, who preceded him in death September 19, 1990.
Surviving are a son: Harold Louis Zimmerman of Springfield, OH, one daughter; Edith (Glenn) Virgin of Springfield, OH, six grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, two step grandchildren, four step great grandchildren, four step great great grandchildren and one sister: Leona Conley of Beaver, OH.
In addition to his parents and wife, Welty was preceded in death by a great grandson: Michael Powell, two brothers: Harry and Charles Zimmerman and three sisters: Imo Mossbarger, Hazel Havens and Ina Claytor.
Welty was a retired Landmark laborer and farmer.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 23, 2002, at Howe Wheeler Boyer Hornback Funeral Home, Piketon, OH with Paul F. Hornback, Minister officiating. Burial will follow at Mound Cemetery, Piketon, OH.
Friends may call at the Howe Wheeler Boyer Hornback Funeral Home 4-8 p.m. Friday and from 11 a.m. until the service on Saturday.

Lois E. Williams
Lois E. Williams, 71, of Piketon, Ohio, died 11:50 p.m. Tuesday, November 19, 2002, at Pleasant Hill Manor, in Piketon, surrounded by her family.

Fannie Bailey
Fannie Bailey, 91, of Salt Creek Road, Lucasville, died 11:20 p.m. Wednesday, November 20, 2002, at Pike Community Hospital Waverly.
She was born February 14, 1911, in Silver Hill, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Joe Jayne and Ellen (Williams) Jayne. On November 24, 1932, Fannie was united in marriage to William G. Bailey, who preceded her in death on November 11, 1993.
Surviving are three daughters, Betty (Cecil) McCollister, of London, Ohio, Phyllis Chaney, of Fishers, Indiana, and Linda (Carl) Fuller, of Piketon; eight grandchildren, Shirley Spellman, Vickie Timmons, Jeffrey McCollister, Tammy Cullen, Ronald Chaney, Amy Martin, Brian Fuller and Jodi Dixon; 13 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; three sisters,: Anna Bernthold, of Columbus, Una (Lee) Hall, of Piketon, and Myrtle Trusty of Columbus.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers, Herbert, Hobert, Guy, Charles and Roland Jayne and two sisters, Pauline Shear and Ruby Jayne.
Fannie was a homemaker and a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, Piketon,
Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Sunday, November 24, 2002, at the Calvary Baptist Church in Piketon, with Rev. Jon Black and Rev. Jim Ditty officiating. Burial will follow in Bailey Chapel Cemetery Piketon.
Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Saturday at the Howe Wheeler Boyer Hornback Funeral Home, in Piketon, and one half hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church, P.O. Box 595, Piketon, Ohio, 45661.

Donald R. Baxter
Donald R. Baxter, 70, of West Junction Road, Chillicothe, died 4:13 p.m. Wednesday, November 20, 2002, in Berger Hospital unexpectedly.
He was born August 1, 1932, in Vinton Co., to the late George Nettie Spencer Baxter. On June 5, 1950, he married the former Mary K. Ingham, who survives.
Also surviving are children, Donald R. (Betty) Baxter, Jr., of Londonderry, Ronald F. (Carolyn) Baxter, of Wellston, Ohio, Glenna K. (Mike) Ogier, of McArthur, Randall E. (Tammy) Baxter, Lyndon Lee (Mary) Baxter, and Doug (Jackie) Baxter, all of West Junction Road; fourteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Gilbert Baxter, of Richmond Dale, and Howard (Rosemary) Baxter, of Adelphi; sisters, Eunice Walters, of Chillicothe, and Mamie Ingham, of Lancaster; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Baxter was predeceased by three brothers, three sisters and an infant sister.
Donald attended the Richmond Dale Church of God and retired in 1987 from United Steel Workers International as a Representative of District 27.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 24, 2002, in the Ware Funeral Home with Pastor John Evans, Rev. Ralph Wood and Pastor Virgil Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Londonderry Cemetery. Friends may call at Ware's from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday.
The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord.
On Wednesday God ordered Dad's steps to bring him Home.

Anna Marie Stapleton Luck
Anna Marie Stapleton Luck, 81, of Greenfield, died Wednesday, at Highland District Hospital, Hillsboro.

Harry Sanders
Harry Sanders, 81, of Chillicothe, died Tuesday, at Doctor's Hospital West, Columbus, following an extended illness.
Arrangements are pending at Ware Funeral Home.

Georgia B. Valentine
Georgia B. Valentine, 78, of Chillicothe, departed this life to be with our Lord on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002, at Heartland of Chillicothe, following an extended illness.
She was born Sept. 12, 1924, in Ross County, the daughter of Earnest and Eva (Flynn) Parker.
Surviving are her children, Gloria (Carl) Skinner, Sharon Sevona, Emily (Harry) Houser, Brenda Taylor, Tim Walters, Brad (Felecia) Valentine, Denise (Richard) Clifford, Dennis Valentine and Kevin Valentine; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Geraldine Pollock and Mary Minnix; a brother, Harry Parker; her good friend, Ruby Nichols and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, George Walters and Glen Valentine; a daughter, Ruth Eblin; sons, Rocky, Martin, and Glenn; and brothers, Norman, Robert, Carl and Alonzo Parker; and sisters, Beatrice White, Mildred and Bernadine Parker.
You will forever stay in our hearts. We love you. The family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Heartland of Chillicothe. A private memorial service will be held on Saturday for the family. Graveside Committal services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, at Greenlawn Cemetery, under the direction of the Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home.
