Julia A. "Nan" Blazer
Julia A. "Nan" Blazer, 78, formerly of Eastern Ave., died 12:15 p.m. Monday, December 30, 2002, at her niece's residence, in Columbus, following a short illness.
She was born October 25, 1924, to the late Rev. Pearl and Fanie Rutter Moss. On March 17, 1982, she married Harold R. Blazer, who died August 20, 1995.
Surviving are special cousins, Margaret Eblin, Edith Detty and Margaret Frazier, all of Chillicothe, and Darlene (Harry) Detty, of Frankfort; stepson, Pearl Blazer; stepdaughters, Nancy and Betty; nieces, Donna (Paul) Leggett, Darlene (Chuck) Stokes and Glenna (Frank) Gursky, all of Columbus; and many many friends. She was predeceased by brothers, Sherman Lowery, Forrest Moss, Marvin Moss and Virgil Moss; and an infant sister, Ellen Moss.
Nan was a retired beautician.
Funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, January 3, 2003, in the Ware Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at Ware's from 5-7 p.m. Thursday.

Irvin Ray Derenburger, 57, of Waverly, died Tuesday, at Mt. Carmel West Hospital, Columbus.

Robert L. Meier, 76, of Piketon, died Monday, at the Riverside Manor, in Piketon.

Raymond P. Sheffel
Raymond P. Sheffel, 77, of Byhalia, Miss., formerly of Chillicothe, died Tuesday, in Memphis, Tenn., following a short illness.
Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Ross County Veterans Firing Squad, at 10 a.m. Saturday in Brown's Chapel Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of Ware Funeral Home.
Joy E. Schuetz
Joy E. Schuetz, 75, of Chillicothe, passed from this life early Tuesday morning, Dec. 31, 2002, at her residence, following a brief illness.
She was born Sept. 26, 1927, in Sciotoville, KY, the daughter of Stanley L. and Clara L. Wallingford Queen. On May 4, 1947, she married John H. Schuetz, who preceded her in death on Apr. 28, 1999.
Surviving are daughters, Paula Schuetz Knight and Janice Schuetz Conaway, both of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Tracey Schuetz and John H. Downing; a great grandchild, Dakota Downing; and a sister-in-law, Ann Queen, MI. Her parents, a brother, Paul Queen and a sister, Margaret Queen, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Schuetz was a member of Walnut Street United Methodist Church and the Sigma Phi Gamma Sorority.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, in the Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home, with Dr. Dennis Mohler officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday.
Eloise Willett
Eloise Willett, 77, of Bainbridge, died Tuesday at Greenfield Area Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Anderson-Strueve Funeral Home in Greenfield with the Rev. Robert K. Blaine officiating.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday.
Donald L. Beekman
Donald L. Beekman, 73, of Chillicothe, died 5:05 p.m. Tuesday, December 31, 2002, in Adena Regional Medical Center, following an extended illness.
He was born February 18,1929, in Pike Co., to the late Elihue and Ortha Ballis Beekman. On January 15, 1992, he married the former Ruby Bowman Johnson, who survives.
Also surviving are children, David (Jane) Beekman and Donna Hamilton, all of Piketon, and Delores Derenberger, of Waverly; stepchildren, Rodney (Pamela) Johnson, Randy Johnson and Beverly Burgett, all of Waverly, Kathryn (Jerry) Grabill, of Frankfort, and Lesa (Mike) Rachford, of S. Salem; 23 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Harold (Hilda) Beekman, of Shadyside, Ohio and Richard (Rosemary) Beekman and Johnny (Gertrude) Beekman, all of Piketon; sisters, Eilene Lansing, of Elm Grove, Barbara Woods, of Chillicothe, and Norma Stout, of Ashville, Ohio, and several nieces, nephews and many friends. He was predeceased by a grandson and an infant sister.
Donald was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was a construction laborer.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 4, 2003, in the Ware Funeral Home, with Rev. Gerald Seymour officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery on Denver Rd., with military graveside rites by the Ross Co. Veterans Firing Squad. Friends may call at Wares from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday (today).
Israel J. Freeland
Israel Jacob Freeland, 23, of Salmon, ID, died Saturday, December 28, 2002, at his home.
He was born on October 4, 1979, in Chillicothe, the son of Scott Arlen Freeland Sr. of Chillicothe, and Randy and Karen Diane (Wakeland) Grider, of Salmon, ID.
Also surviving are seven sisters, Chastity Freeland, Columbus, OH, Margaret (Jason) Bartley, of Jasper, OH, Amanda Grider, of Piketon, OH, Jasmine Freeland, of Columbus, OH, Randi Jo Mosley, of Bainbridge, OH, Tiara and Montana Grider, both of Salmon, ID; two brothers, Scott (Nicole) Freeland Jr., of Newport News, VA, and Jacob Grider, of Piketon, OH; grandparents, David and Cathy Wakeland, of Plains, OH, David and Mary Landis, of Farmington, KY, and Jessie Grider, of Waverly, OH, four aunts, one uncle, several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Rosemary and John Freeland.
Israel was licensed as a commercial truck driver.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 5, 2003, at Boyer Funeral Home, Waverly, OH with Leona Payne, Minister officiating. Burial will follow at White Oak Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Boyer Funeral Home from 6 - 8 p.m. Saturday, and from noon until the time of service on Sunday.
