Colleen Kidder Shope, age 75, passed away quietly at her home Saturday, August 9, 2003, surrounded by her loved ones after a lengthy bout with heart problems.
V. Bonadean Amos
V. Bonadean Amos, 76, of Anderson Station Road, died 4:26 a.m. Monday, August 11, 2003, in the Chillicothe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, following an extended illness.
She was born June 5, 1927, in Pike Co., to the late Walter and Sarah Davis Woods. On October 15, 1948, she married William E. Amos, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Rev. Andy E. (Dorcas) Amos, of Lancaster, OH; a daughter, Peggy E. Amos, of Belpre, OH; grandchildren, Elizabeth Ann (Tim) Pack, Joshua (Lisa) Amos, Caleb Amos and Tabitha Amos; a great granddaughter, Sydney Amos; a brother, Walter Woods, Jr., of Circleville; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Edward Woods and a sister, Thelma Woods.
Bonadean taught school at Unioto Primary for 26 years. She was a graduate of Ohio University and was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma sorority.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 14, 2003, in the Ware Funeral Home, with Rev. Andy E. Amos officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call at Ware's from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.
Bob Haines
Robert Franklin "Bob" Haines, age 66, of 599 Mulberry Street, died Saturday, August 09, 2003, at Haywood Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of Bainbridge, Ohio, and had resided in Haywood County, since 1986.
He was the son of the late Bob and Viola Sweeny Haines. He was also preceded in death by a son, Randy Haines, who died in 1960, and two grandsons.
He was employed by Asheville Buncombe Technical Community College and retired from the United States Air Force. He loved gospel music.
In addition to his wife of 20 years, Carol Roberts Haines, of Clyde, he is survived by eight daughters, Corey Hall and Carla Haines, both of Clyde, Miranda Holbrook, of Canton; 2nd Lt. Anna Grace Sutphin, of Ft. Leonard Wood, MO, Christine Smith, of Anchorage, AK, Kathryn Haines, of Michigan, Kelly Pyles, of Springfield, OH, and Kimmy Hogan, of Cape Coral, FL; two sons, Mark Haines, of Poway, CA, and Robert Anthony Haines, of Anchorage, AK; two sisters, Lorraine Dean, of Circleville, OH, and Joann Speaks; a brother, James East, of Springfield, OH, as well as 20 grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 12, 2003, at Long Branch Baptist Church, with the Reverend Jack Scott officiating. Burial will follow at Beaverdam Community Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Monday, at Wells Funeral Home of Canton, where the body will remain until thirty minutes prior to the service.

John F. Jones
John F. Jones, age 68, of the Rainsboro Community, died Sunday, August 10, 2003, at his residence. He was born November 16, 1934, in Bainbridge, Ohio, the son of Raymond Thomas and Edna M. (Elliott) Jones.
He had retired in 1995 from the Chillicothe Correctional Institute, where he had been a corrections officer; was formerly employed at Highland District Hospital, in the Security Department, and Crop Production Services, in Bainbridge; he was a life member of Luther Griffin Post #14 American Legion, Bainbridge, where he had served as Post Adjutant and Commander; he had served as the District Commander for the 7TH District of the American Legion; he was a life member of AmVets Post #61, Hillsboro, and a life member of the V.F.W Post # 9094, Hillsboro; a member of the 40/8 Club in Washington C.H., a member of the Eagles Aerie #1161, Hillsboro; and had served on the Highland County Honor Guard.
He is survived by his wife Darlene (Hall) Jones, to whom he married April 24, 1954, in Biloxi, Mississippi; his mother, Edna M. Jones, of Bainbridge; his children, Tony (Teresa Cagg) Jones, of Bainbridge, Gary Jones, of Laredo, Texas, Lyle Jones, of Norwalk, Connecticut, Jonneen (John) Stevens, of Bainbridge, Tammie (Mike) Kingsolver, of Rainsboro, and Tina (Greg) Albrecht, of Hillsboro; his sister, Irma Bruce,, of Chillicothe; his grandchildren, Brick Jones, Chastity Renner, Lauren Darlene Jones, Ryan Jones, Jennifer Jones, Shane Cooper, Zack Kingsolver and Lukas Kingsolver; and his great-grandchildren, Norman Renner, Guy Renner and Zachary Jones. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Thomas Jones.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2003, at the Bainbridge Church of Christ. Bob Richardson and Dane Knapp will officiate. Burial will follow in the Bainbridge Cemetery, where the Highland County Honor Guard will provide Military Honors. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, August 12, 2003, at the Bainbridge Church of Christ. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Highland County, 61 E. Main Street, Wilmington, Ohio 45177. The Turner & Son Funeral Home, Hillsboro, is serving the family.
Bertha Liming
Bertha Liming, 88, formerly of Wilson Run Rd., Chillicothe, OH, died 6:47 a.m. Monday, August 11, 2003, at Pike Community Hospital, Waverly, OH.
She was born June 16, 1915, in Louisa, KY, the daughter of the late Tivis Wright and Rosa (Browning) Wright. On February 2, 1935, she was united in marriage to Esezle Liming, who survives.
Bertha was a homemaker and a member of the United Baptist Faith.
Surviving are five sons, J.T. (Louann) Liming, of Hilliard, OH, Billy G. (Beverly) Liming, of Waverly, OH, Ossie L. (Brenda) Liming, of Chillicothe, OH, Gary Lee (Racine) Liming, of Waverly, OH and Ricky A. (Cheryl) Liming, of Chillicothe, OH; 13 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; one brother, Leo Wright, of Dayton, OH, and one sister, Bonnie (Charles) Webb, of Dayton, OH.
Bertha was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Lewis and Paul Wright and two sisters, Ruby Webb and Lockie Patton.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 14, 2003, at the Boyer Funeral Home, in Waverly, OH, with Brother Arlie Howard officiating. Burial will follow in Omega Cemetery, Waverly, OH.
Friends may call at the Boyer Funeral Home 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9:00 a.m. until time of service on Thursday.
Jacob A. Powell
Jacob A. Powell, 84, of Lancaster, formerly of Chillicothe, died 5:10 p.m. Sunday, August 10, 2003, in the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Dayton, following an extended illness.
He was born September 2, 1918, in Chillicothe, to the late Jacob A. and Irene Lowery Powell.
Surviving are children, Shirley C. Nnatubeugo and Debra A. (Robert) Viney, all of Chillicothe, Sarah (Walter) Gilbert, of Columbus, David A. (Isabelle) Powell, of Hawaii, Jacob A. (Sonya) Powell III, of Chillicothe and David A. Powell, of Reynoldsburg; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and a sister, Evelyn (Ray) Lett, of Chillicothe. He was predeceased by a grandson, two sisters and three brothers.
Jacob served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a retired construction worker.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2003, in the Bainbridge Cemetery, with Rev. Troy Gray officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Ross County Veterans Firing Squad. Friends may call at the Ware Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday (Today).

Evelyn Rene (Harvey) Bond
Evelyn Rene (Harvey) Bond, 83, of Lucasville, died Saturday at Pike Community Hospital, Waverly.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at New Hope Baptist Church, Lucasville. Burial will follow in Mound Cemetery, Piketon. Friends may call at the Howe-Wheeler-Boyer-Hornback Funeral Home, Piketon, from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and 30 minutes prior to the service Thursday.
Gerald D. "Jerry" Guysinger
Gerald D. "Jerry" Guysinger, 68, of South Salem, Ohio, died 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 23, 2003, at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born August 8, 1935, in Chillicothe, to the late Homer and Minnie Guysinger.
Surviving are his children, Gerald "Jerry" (Kimberly) Guysinger, with whom he lived, Starlet (Raymond) Delfosse, of Boliver, Ohio, and Tracy (Sharon) Guysinger, of Cortland, Ohio; step-children, Laura Vokar, of Parma, Ohio, Jackie (Chuck) Brown, of Columbus and Rick Sigado, of Cleveland, Ohio; 17 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Homer Guysinger, Ralph (Billie) Guysinger, all of Chillicothe and Robert (Sue) Guysinger, of Frankfort; sisters, Martha "Doll" Green, of Chillicothe, Helen Murch, of Florida and Mae Jackson, of Indiana; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Rebecca Garrett; a great granddaughter, Gabrielle Robinette; brothers, Gene Guysinger and Bill Marquis; and a sister, Pearl Go-on.
Jerry was a retired carpenter with Wagner Home Improvements.

Mary C. Irwin
Mary C. Irwin, 94, of Chillicothe, died 8:30 p.m. Friday, August 22, 2003, in Westmoreland Place, following an extended illness.
She was born October 1, 1908, in Vinton County, to the late Clement and Rosa Bock Waldren. She was the widow of her first husband, Walter Armstrong and her second husband, Frederick B. Irwin.
Surviving are: nieces, Sue (Henry) Pollock, of Washington Court House and Diana (Wayne) Phillips, of Londonderry; nephews, Gerald (Priscilla) Waldren, of Wickliffe, Ohio; Robert (Yvonne) Waldren, of Tucson, Arizona and Archie (Thelma) Waldron, of Springfield, Ohio; several grand and great-grand nieces and nephews; several cousins; sister-in-law, Pauline Waldren, of Ray; step-sons, Paul (Marilyn) Irwin, of Bloomington, Indiana and Reed (Bobbie) Irwin, of Montrose, Colorado; and several step-grand and step-great-grand children. She was predeceased by: brothers, William, Leo, Roy, Owen, Ernie and Claude and a nephew, Willard.
Mrs. Irwin was a school teacher for thirty-six years, in Vinton Co., Green Co., Ross Co. and Chillicothe High School, retiring in 1964, a member of the Walnut Street United Methodist Church and Sarah Circle and its Women's Society of the church, Century Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, OES chapter 419, and the Retired Teachers Association.
Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 27, 2003, in the Ware Funeral Home, with Dr. Dennis Mohler officiating. Burial will follow in Londonderry Cemetery. Friends may call at Ware's from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with an Eastern Star Service at 7 p.m.
