Frank W. Cooper, Sr.
Frank W. Cooper, Sr., 63, of Chillicothe, died unexpectedly September 21, 2003, at his residence. He was born October 1, 1939, in Chillicothe, to the late Raymond and Virginia Terry Cooper. On June 12, 1960, he married the former Saundra K. Austin, who survives.
Also surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Frank W. (Cindy) Cooper, Jr., of Chillicothe; daughters and sons-in-law, Tracie N. (Gary) Watkins, Chillicothe, Stephanie A. (Guillaume) Provost, Powell, OH, and Kay Dee Simon, Columbus; grandchildren, who knew him as "Poppy", Brittany S. Raney, Brandon R. Raney, Terry L. Tanner, Frank W. "Trey" Cooper III, and Alexandra N. "Janie" Cooper; brothers, Raymond S. "Toots" Cooper; Joseph "Andy" Goins; sister, Cynthia I. Mallory; and aunt, Mabel Morton; his step-father, Joseph Goins; brothers-in-law, Brenton (Connie) Austin, William "Joe" Austin and his friend Burt, David Austin, Emmett (Kim) Washington; sisters-in-law, Maude Lee and Mona Washington; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Dee; infant twin siblings; his mother-in-law, Kathleen Washington; several aunts and uncles; and his special friend, Robert Beverly.
Frank was very devoted to his family, especially his grandchildren. He retired from Mead/ Chilpaco, in 1996, after 36 years of service. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and a member of First Baptist Church. He loved playing golf with his friends, loved sports, and he never knew a stranger.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, September 25, 2003, at First Baptist Church, with pastor Skip Cousins officiating, assisted by Rev. Jonathan McReynolds and Bishop Melvin Maughmer. Military graveside services conducted by the Ross Co. Veterans Firing Squad, will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Haller Funeral Home.
Family and friends are invited to return to the church, following the burial, for dinner and fellowship.

Emily Benner
Emily Penn Benner, age 85, of Dublin, OH, formerly of Bainbridge, died Monday, September 29, 2003, at her residence. She was born February 4, 1918, in Bainbridge, to the late Lloyd and Amy Penn.
Emily was a member of Bainbridge Presbyterian Church, serving as Elder and Deacon several times. She was also a member of the Phalamathian Book Club, Farm Bureau, Garden Club and Senior Citizens. She was active at the Ross County Extension Center, served as a 4-H advisor for 15 years and was involved in the International Farm Youth Exchange Program.
She is survived by her loving husband, Roger Benner; daughters and sons-in-law, Norene and Jerry Mapes, Alma Jane and Dick Penwell and Julia and Jim Perry; four grandchildren, Amy (Doug) Haughn, Stephen (Maggie) Penwell, Matthew Kinnamon and Creighton Benner-Perry; one great grandson, Austin Kinnamon; brother, Joseph E. (Ruth) Penn; sisters-in-law, Amelia Benner and Luellen Benner; many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, October 2, 2003, at Bainbridge Presbyterian Church, Corner of Third & Maple, Bainbridge, OH, where the family will receive friends from 11 to 1 p.m. Rev. Elizabeth Sandy will officiate. Interment to follow in Bainbridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Emily Penn Benner Scholarship Fund, c/o The Rockhold, Brown and Co.
