Florence L. Wintersheimer Botkin, 88, formerly of Seney Rd., died Monday morning in Norfolk, VA.
Arrangements are being completed by the Haller Funeral Home.
Marguerite 'Rita' Butler
Marguerite "Rita" Butler, age 80, of Frankfort, died Monday, Sept. 29, 2003, at 5:50 a.m. in Valley View Alzheimer Care Center, Frankfort. She was born on Aug. 3, 1923, in Chillicothe, the daughter of the late John and Virgie Wright Butler. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Twitty, of Buffalo, NY on April 6, 1994.
She leaves a host of cousins and other relatives. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Ann.
Rita moved to New York at an early age, where she worked in the entertainment industry through the 60's and 70's and performed with various Big Bands, including Count Baise.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Oct. 2, 2003, at 1 p.m. in the Ebright Funeral Home, Frankfort, with Bishop Melvin Maughmer, officiating assisted by Pastor Robert Bryant. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions are suggested to the family in care of the funeral home.
Herman Harris
Herman Harris, 62, of Piketon, died Saturday, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 1, 2003, at Yankee Hill Community Church, Piketon. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, at Howe Wheeler Boyer Hornback Funeral Home, Piketon, and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday, at the church.
Anna Marie Hixon
Anna Marie Hixon, 89, of Chillicothe, died 10:50 a.m. Saturday, September 27, 2003, in the Adena Regional Medical Center, following a brief illness.
She was born April 6, 1914, in Chillicothe, to the late Thomas and Mary Thompson Kenz. On November 15, 1936, she married the John E. Hixon, who survives.
Also surviving are sons, James T. Hixon, of Chillicothe, and Ronald J. (Judith) Hixon, of Pickerington, OH; grandchildren, Theresa Hixon, Lori Ann Reynolds and John Gregory Hixon; a sister, Rosaline Huston, of Lancaster, OH; a sister-in-law, Avonelle Kenz, of Chillicothe, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by brothers, David and Leo Kenz.
Mrs. Hixon was a member of the Circle of Mary and the Bereavement Committee at St. Peter Church, the Pump House Gallery for the Arts and the Ross County Historical Society.
She was a lifetime member of St. Peter Catholic Church, where Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 11 a.m. Thursday, October 2, 2003, with Fr. James Black, Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Margaret Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at the Ware Funeral Home, where a wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society, 126 Church Street, Chillicothe, OH 45601.

Charles Edison Holbrook, 56, of Goshen, IN, died at his residence.

Walter R. Peterson, 80, of Robin Rd., Waverly, died Thursday, September 25, 2003, at the Mt. Carmel West Hospital, in Columbus, OH.
Dora E. Queen
Dora E. Queen, 78, of Chillicothe, died 11:50 p.m. September 27, 2003, in Westmoreland Place Nursing Home, following an extended illness.
She was born January 24, 1925, in Ross Co., to Roscoe E. and Louise R. Wunsch Draher, Sr. In 1968, she married Harold Queen, who died in 1985.
Survivors include a son, Samuel Miller, of Chillicothe; four grandchildren, Samantha, Gloria, Terri and Michael; a great-grandson; a brother, Robert Draher, of Maiden, NC; four sisters, Rosetta Lipke, of Sutter Creek, CA, Rachel Ott, of Yellowbud, Jessie Price, Chillicothe, Shirley Meeker, of Reading, CA; a special friend, Ted W. Fickisen, and step-children, Lisa, Tommy and Cheryl. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Dora Castle, and granddaughter, Patricia Manion, four sisters, three brothers, and a stepson, Charles Queen.
Mrs. Queen was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and a former member of the Loyal Order of Moose.
Private graveside funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will not be observed. Arrangements are under the direction of the Haller Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Church, 61 S. Paint St., Chillicothe.
John W. Sturgell, Jr.
John W. Sturgell, Jr., 60, of Blain Highway, Waverly, Ohio, died Monday, September 29, 2003, at Adena Regional Medical Center, in Chillicothe, Ohio.
He was born January 5, 1943, at Osborn, Kentucky, the son of the late John Wence and Nora Lee (Spears) Sturgell. On April 3, 1964, he was united in marriage to Sheila G. (Long) Sturgell, who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Steven Sturgell and Ronda Rhea, of Chillicothe, Randy (Tina) Sturgell, of Chillicothe, and Patrick Sturgell, of Waverly; a daughter, Jonda (Brandon) Bentley, of Chillicothe; five grandchildren, a great granddaughter, a brother, Purvis (Mollie) Sturgell, of Ada, Ohio; and a sister, Thelma Thompson, of Lima, Ohio.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by three brothers, Bascom, Charles and Donald Sturgell and two sisters, Josephine Clifford and Mildred Current.
John was a retired laborer for the D.T.&I. Railroad and a member of Denver Chapel Church, on Denver Road.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 2, 2003, at Denver Chapel Church, with Rev. Dane Knapp officiating. Burial will follow in Denver Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Boyer Funeral Home from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 10:30 a.m. until the service at the church on Thursday.
