David V. Parton, 45, of Hornell, N.Y., died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, at Davenport Hospital in Urbana, N.Y.
Ronnelle 'Roni' E. Reeves
Ronnelle "Roni" Elaine Reeves, 47, of Kingston, died November 29, 2003, at her residence. She was born March 20, 1956, in Columbus, the daughter of Ronald and June (Sherwood) Leadingham. She was a 1974 graduate of Zane Trace H.S. and attended Urbana College. She married Perry Reeves on November 14, 1975.
She is survived by her parents, Ronald and June Leadingham of Kingston; husband, Perry of Kingston; son, Tim Alan Reeves of Kingston; brother, Rick (Camille) Leadingham of Kingston; and a special thanks to her good friends Teddy Goldsberry, Sandra Keaton, Kimberli Levingston and Jesse Outen.
Funeral Services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 3, 2003, at the Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville, with Pastor Barry Bennett officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army c/o the Kingston National Bank
Roberta N. Garrett
Roberta N. Garrett, 65, of Columbia Drive, Waverly, OH, died at 9:30 p.m. Sunday, November 30, 2003, at her home.
She was born May 24, 1938, in Portsmouth, OH, the daughter of the late Floyd Newell Gilliland and Edna Lenore (Milar) Gilliland. On February 23, 1968, Roberta was united in marriage to Roger L. Garrett, who preceded her in death on May 3, 2001.
She is survived by one brother, Howard Gilliland, of Jackson, OH.
In addition to her parents and husband, Roberta was preceded in death by two sisters, Garnet Waddell and Ada Allen.
Roberta was a retired elementary teacher with Waverly City Schools and a member of New Covenant Church of Christ in Christian Union in Waverly.
A graveside service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 6, 2003, at Evergreen Union Cemetery, Waverly, with Rev. Mark Polley officiating.
Calling hours will not be observed. Arrangements are under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home, Waverly.

Violet Mae 'Bea' Graves
Violet Mae "Bea" Graves, 92, of Chillicothe, died 3:09 a.m. Tuesday, December 2, 2003, at her residence, following an extended illness.
She was born October 21, 1911, in Ross County to the late Millard W. and Elizabeth Moody Downs. On October 19, 1941, she married G. Clark Graves, who died July 22, 1961.
Surviving are sisters, Eva (John) Adrian, Nancy Riley, Florence McDaniel, Jane (Paul) Miller, all of Chillicothe, Caroline Whalen, of Wellston, Opal (Floyd) Fauble, of Lancaster, OH, and Mary Austin, of Carrol, OH; and a brother, Tommy Downs, of Chillicothe. She was a special aunt to numerous nieces and nephews, grandnieces and nephews and great-grandnieces and nephews. She is also survived by a special friend, her sister-in-law, Helen Downs, of Chillicothe. She was predeceased by brothers, Bernard Wesley Downs and James Downs; and a sister, Margaret Boystol.
Mrs. Graves attended First Church of God and had retired from the U.S. Shoe Corporation.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday, December 5, 2003, in Ware Funeral Home, with Pastor Greg Pennington officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at Ware's from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

Tina Louise Meeker, 39, of Chillicothe, passed from this life Monday afternoon, Dec. 1, 2003, at her residence, following an extended illness.
Richard D. Polen Jr.
Richard D. Polen Jr., 58, of Chillicothe, died unexpectedly Tuesday morning in his home.
James W. Stover
James W. Stover, 95, of Waverly, died 10:30 p.m. December 1, 2003, in the Pike Community Hospital unexpectedly.
He was born November 7, 1908, in Cirtsville, WV, to Amos and Mary Anne Maynor Stover. On May 31, 1933, he married Dorothy Dew, who survives.
Survivors include a son, Udy (Judy) Stover, of Chillicothe; two grandchildren, Nancy (James) Davenport, Kingston, NY, and Brett Stover, of Cincinnati, OH; and three great-grandchildren, Kate, Jay and Will Davenport. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister, Carl, Okey and Inez.
Mr. Stover was a retired public school principal.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday in Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope, WV. Entombment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity, WV. Friends may call 12 to 1 p.m. Thursday at Tyree Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Davis-Stuart, Inc. Childrens' Home, RR 2, Box 188-A, Lewisburg, WV 24901-9988. Local arrangements are under the direction of Haller Funeral Home.
Patricia E. Cordle
Patricia E. Cordle, 77, of Kingston, died 4:40 p.m., Tuesday, December 2, 2003, in the Adena Regional Medical Center, following an extended illness.
She was born, January 2, 1926, in Lexington, KY, the daughter of the late Dennis and the late Bethel Baker Harrod. On March 16, 1943, she married Eugene A. Cordle, who preceded her in death January 6, 1979.
Surviving are a daughter, Glynna J. Cordle, Kingston; two sisters, Betty Sue Mitchell, Frankfort, KY, and Judy Clark, Versailles, KY; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Cordle was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church and VFW #108 Ladies Auxiliary. She was retired from the Chillicothe Veterans Administration Medical Center, where she had worked as a food service worker.
Calling hours will not be observed. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Fawcett Oliver Glass & Palmer Funeral Home is serving the family.
James May
James Taylor May, 79, died peacefully on Nov. 20, 2003, at Kobacker House-Hospice at Riverside in Columbus, OH.
He is survived by Betsy Boggs May, his wife of 32 years, and older brother, Robert L. ( Shirley ) May, of Delaware, OH, and niece, Linda May, of New York City. He is also survived by mother-in-law, Catherine S. Boggs; brothers-in-law, John (Cathy) and Ned Boggs, all of Kingston, and cousins, Bill (Jean) Watkins, Fairmont, WV, and Jack (Dorothy) Watkins, of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert S. and Dorothy Welch May.
Jim was born in Delaware, OH, on Feb. 28, 1924, attended Delaware City Schools and graduated from Willis HS in June, 1941. He entered Kenyon College in Sept. 1941. He transferred to Ohio Wesleyan University in Sept. 1942, where he affiliated with Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. When called into the service, he was fortunate to be assigned to the Navy V-12 program at Ohio Wesleyan. Jim was in England just prior to the Normandy invasion in June, 1944, assigned to a landing craft as a Store Keeper 1st Class, but was ordered back to the USA before the invasion to attend officers candidate school. He was commissioned an Ensign at Harvard University in late 1944.
After his service years, Jim returned and graduated from Ohio Wesleyan in 1949, with a BA degree in history. He then spent 2 years in Paris, France, returned home and entered the American Graduate School for International Management (Thunderbird) in Phoenix, AZ. After graduation in 1953, he took a job with American Express, working in New York City, Sao Palo, Rio de Janeiro and Saudi Arabia. After ten years, Jim left American Express, returned to Columbus and worked with the State of Ohio Dept of Development in International Trade and Economic Development until his retirement in 1990.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Sat., Dec. 13th at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Church, Marble Cliff, 1559 Roxbury Rd. Columbus, OH, with Msgr. Romano Ciotola and Father Thomas Cadden, celebrants. The family will receive friends at the conclusion of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that a contribution be made in Jim's memory to the American Lung Assoc., 1950 Arlingate Lane, Columbus, OH 43228. Richard D. Polen, Jr.
Richard D. "Dick" Polen, Jr., 58, of Chillicothe, died December 2, 2003, in his home unexpectedly.
He was born September 29, 1945, in Chillicothe, to Richard D. and Margaret L. "Skip" Proehl Polen. On June 30, 1995, he married Patricia K. Moore, who survives.
Also surviving is a daughter, Stephanie A. (Jason) Tesi, of Chillicothe; two stepsons, Aaron (Angie) Brown, of Chillicothe, and Andy (Wendy) Brown, of Reynoldsburg; two grandchildren, Christian and Simon Brown; four sisters, Christie (Dave) Bethel, Sue (Dennis) Spetnagel, Jill (Danny) Adams, all of Chillicothe, and Tammy Polen, of Londonderry; five brothers, John, Lance, Keith, Mark and Kevin (Marie) Polen, all of Chillicothe; and several nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Cinda J. Mullins, who died in 1993, and a brother, Jack.
Mr. Polen retired from Chilpaco in 2001, following 37 years of service.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday in Haller Funeral Home, with Pastor Mark Pfiefer officiating. Burial will follow in Twin Township Cemetery. Friends may call 11 to 1 Friday at Haller's.
Kathleen 'Kathy' Pollock
Kathleen "Kathy" Pollock, 53, of Bourneville, died 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 2, 2003, at Adena Regional Medical Center. She was born July 13, 1950, in Ross County, the daughter of Curtis and Opal Vangundy Maughmer.
She is survived by a daughter, Lizette George; mother, Opal Maughmer; granddaughter, Myriah George, all of Bourneville; sister, Bessie Elliott, of Chillicothe; two brothers, Curtis R. Maughmer, of South Salem, and Charles (Debra) Maughmer, of Bainbridge; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. She was predeceased by her father and grandparents, Willis and Eudora Vangundy and Major and Bessie Maughmer.
There will be no calling hours observed, and there will be a memorial service at a later date.
